Woman banished from in-laws’ community for allegedly cheating on her husband with their neighbours’ teenage sons

The 35-year-old wife a teacher in Kenyoni One Village in Kitutu Chache North in Kisii County of Kenya, has been banished from her in-laws’ community after allegedly cheating on her husband with their neighbours’ teenage sons.

While family members alleged that David Mageto's wife was caught in compromising positions with teenage boys in the area, her mother-in-law Elmerita Kerubo accused her of being a divorcee who “pretended to be good” when her son was courting her.

Kerubo said;

Quote:“She presented herself as very kind and welcoming. At that time, she had just divorced her first husband. I urged my son to marry her. We followed traditional customs to bring her home.

“Immediately after we had paid dowry for her, she changed her character completely. She began engaging in sexual relationships with every young man or boy in the community. She’d paw at the boys the same way a cheetah would attack a deer.

“Every time she was summoned by the elders over her philandering ways, she would refuse to heed the calls. On three separate occasions, she was found in compromising positions with three different young men.”

Explaining why the lady was banished from the community Mageto’s brother, Jared Mayaka confirmed that they destroyed the lady's house to symbolize that she is no longer needed.

He told K24 TV;

Quote:“We have banished her from this community, we do not want anything to do with her. We have brought down her house to symbolise that she is no longer needed here.

“She was callous. She mistreated my brother’s children whom he got in the first marriage. She also ruined my brother’s life by constantly serving him alcohol."

Mageto’s estranged wife left her matrimonial home on Monday evening (September 7) after she was excommunicated from the community. Her whereabouts remain unknown.

5 to die by hanging for kidnap and murder of Shell staff in Rivers

Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, August 8, sentenced five persons to death by hanging for kidnapping and murdering a Shell staff, named Anthony Okoro.

The five defendants out of seven persons in suit number PHC/324/2017, are Oluchi Charles (1st defendant), Miracle Anumuna (2nd defendant), Ifeanyi Simon (3rd defendant), Koko Basset (4th defendant) and Uchenna Stanley Amaechi (7th defendant).

They were convicted of the 10 charges preferred against them by the Inspector General of Police bordering on conspiracy, stealing, armed robbery, kidnapping and murder.

Chukwudi Etete (5th defendant) and Anthony Ugwu (6th defendant), the remaining two persons mentioned in the suit, were discharged and acquitted by the court.

The suspects had on  May 29, 2016, attacked the home of one Anthony Okoro, a staff of Shell Petroleum Development Company, in Woji area of Port Harcourt. The suspects reportedly shot the victim and carried his body away with his Range Rover SUV. The deceased’s Kia Optima car, television sets, infinix phone and other valuables were also taken away by the suspects.

The trial judge, Justice George Omereji, in his verdict yesterday, held that the prosecution proved its case that the first to fourth and seventh defendants were as guilty as charged. Omereji, in discharging and acquitting the fifth and sixth defendants, stated that the prosecution could not prove that they had knowledge of the crime, rather they unknowingly bought phones belonging to the victim.

The judge also held that the prosecution proved the case of conspiracy against the convicts.

"It was proven that the convicts had met at Genesis area of Woji in Port Harcourt and planned the kidnap of Okoro and the death of the victim was caused by the convicts," the judge said.

The trial judge also noted that the prosecution also proved that the death of the victim was caused by the suspects, regretting that Anthony Okoro was shot on his arm and taken away with his cars and other valuables by the suspects.

Omereji, who based his ruling on Section 410 of the Administration of Criminal Justice 2011, sentenced the five convicted persons to death by hanging, adding that they should be held on the rope till they are confirmed dead.

The prosecution counsel, I. Ubulom, described it as justice done. He said the verdict would serve as deterrent to others involved in criminal activities.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

 WEDNESDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER.

BEWARE OF FALSE TEACHERS

BUT ALSO [in those days] there arose false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among yourselves, who will subtly and stealthily introduce heretical doctrines (destructive heresies), even denying and disowning the Master Who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction (2 Peter 2:1 AMPC).

The same way there’re false brethren and false prophets who create problems in the house of God, there’re also false teachers. These are people who arrogate to themselves the teaching ministry, even though they weren’t called to be teachers, thereby exposing themselves to demons, and promoting false doctrines. They indoctrinate with errors, usually inspired by the spirit of deception.

For example, some false teachers teach that the coming of Christ has already taken place, and thus mislead a lot of people. Some others say the Holy Spirit’s ministry ended with the apostles. Some come with dream interpretations, telling people how different sleeping positions affect their dreams, and teach the effects of eating in dreams.

Some go as far as telling you it’s a relative of yours that’s responsible for your life’s problems, and create enmities between relatives. Yet, the Bible says we wrestle not against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12). But sadly, some have been deceived by such false teachings.

It readily brings to mind the words of Jesus when He said, “...Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures…” (Matthew 22:29). Know the Word for yourself, and no one will deceive you. Make studying the Scriptures a priority in your life. The Holy Spirit opens your heart to His truths and His will, and you can prove all things (1 Thessalonians 5:21), test every spirit (1 John 4:1) and rightly divide the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15).

PRAYER

Precious Father, thank you for your Word by which I navigate my way through life. I am yielded to your Spirit, who is my guarantee of a life of limitless potentials and endless possibilities. I can’t be deceived. I’m fulfilling your destiny for my life, because I’m acquainted with your Word, which is my light and my salvation, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

I affirm that I am led in the path of truth, for the wisdom of God is at work in me. I abhor falsehood, and I am firmly established in God’s Word which makes righteousness manifest in my spirit.

The eyes of my understanding are enlightened with the revelations of God’s Word. I am synchronized with the Spirit, knowing and walking in God’s perfect will for me.

Through God’s Spirit, I walk worthy of Him unto all pleasing, fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God’s Word. I am far removed from the corruptive influences of this world.

I am seated together with Christ in the place of power; far above all principalities, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that which is to come.

I live in dominion over sin, sickness and infirmities, and every opposing force, accusation, or hindrance. Hallelujah. The Lord has sent His angels before me to minister for me daily!

As I affirm the Word, they’re dispatched to establish the words of my mouth and ensure that the words that I speak do not come back to me void.

I am never alone because the host of heaven is with me always! Glory to God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

President Muhammadu Buhari has listed the controversial rehabilitation and reintegration of repentant Boko Haram members into the society as part of the achievements of his administration.

The President in his closing remarks on Tuesday at the ministerial retreat listed the policy alongside Second Niger Bridge, N2.3Trillion Economic Sustainability Plan and the responses of the government to the COVID19 pandemic as part of the successes of the administration.

“We have also worked to address emergent cases of insecurity and insurgency in the country with innovative approaches such as “Operation Safe Corridor,” which de-radicalize, rehabilitate, and reintegrate willingly surrendered Boko Haram members into the larger society. Our security operations in the Niger Delta, North Central and North Western States are yielding desired results. We hope to get rid of bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements in these regions,” he said.

200 Bandits Repent In Sokoto, Release Eight Captives
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:About 200 bandits operating in the Eastern part of Sokoto State have denounced violence as part of the ongoing negotiation with the state government.

Commissioner for Career and Security Matters, Colonel Garba Moyi (rtd), disclosed this to journalists.

Moyi said the bandits released eight people, who have been under their custody and surrendered their weapons.

The commissioner explained that part of the deal reached with the bandits was that henceforth, they would not kidnap anybody, while the security agencies would not arrest any of their members unless if caught with weapons or any incriminating items.

He revealed that the state government had awarded a contract for the construction of a dam at Kamarawa in view of the cessation of attacks following the deal reached with the bandits.

“The construction would have commenced since but because of the renewed attacks and flooding in the area.

“We are even planning to build grazing reserves and schools for their children,” he said.

Buhari, Family Under Fire For Breaching CBN Act, NCDC Guideline At Hanan Wedding

Buhari, family under fire for breaching CBN Act, NCDC guideline at daughter’s wedding

Quote:Many Nigerians have called out the first family for violating part of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act at the wedding ceremony of Hanan Buhari, one of the daughters of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Many also condemned the safety guidelines issued by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) with regards to overcrowding and social distancing to help curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hanan and Turad, son of a former lawmaker, Mahmud Sani Sha’aban, got married at the Aso Rock villa on Friday – a ceremony which was graced by top government officials, members of the diplomatic community and politicians.

Pictures and videos from the wedding, including those shared on Instagram by the first lady, Aisha Buhari, went viral and trended throughout the weekend.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5yLCztXUCo
One video circulated by Sahara Reporters showed the couple dancing and other attendees dancing while some dancers sprayed money on the couple. No social distancing was observed in the video and many attendees were seen without face masks.

This generated outrage as many expressed disappointments at the public figures and other attendees for breaching the CBN Act as well as the NCDC safety guidelines.

Many called for sanctions for offenders while a few others believed the wedding should have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic situation in the country which has caused hardship in the lives of citizens.

What the law says

Section 21 of the CBN Act warns against defacing the Naira. It prescribes a fine of N50,000 or six months imprisonment or both for offenders.

“21. (1) A person who tampers with a coin or note with or trading in issued by the Bank is guilty of an offence and shall on notes and coins imprisonment for a term not less than six months or to a fine not less than N50,000 or to both such fine and imprisonment.

(2) A coin or note shall be deemed to have been tampered with if the coin or note has been impaired, diminished or lightened otherwise than by fair wear and tear or has been defaced by stumping, engraving, mutilating, piercing, stapling, writing, tearing, soiling, squeezing or any other form of deliberate and willful abuse whether the coin or note has or has not been thereby diminished or lightened.

(3) For the avoidance of doubt, spraying of, dancing or matching on the Naira or any note issued by the Bank during social occasions or otherwise howsoever shall constitute an abuse and defacing of the Naira or such note and shall be punishable under Sub-section (1) of this section,” part of the Act states.

The law further clarifies the term “spraying in Section 21(5):

“(i) “Matching” includes spreading scattering or littering of any surface with any Naira notes or coins and stepping thereon, regardless of the value, volume, occasion or intent.

“(ii) “Spraying” includes adorning, decorating or spraying anything or any person or any part of any person or the person of another with Naira notes or coins or sprinkling or sticking of the Naira notes or coins in a similar manner regardless of the amount, occasion or the intent.”

The CBN has often re-echoed its fight against the abuse of Naira notes either by spraying at events, trampling on or squeezing it.

The bank has repeatedly vowed that it would clamp down on any person or group culpable of such acts.

With regards to the COVID-19 pandemic, officials of the NCDC, other public officers including the president, have on several occasions warned against breaching the safety guidelines issued by the agency.

Offenders, including celebrities, have been made to face sanctions ranging from community service to payment of fines.

Although the number of new cases has declined in recent times, the country is still battling with the pandemic as well as the impact on citizens and the country.

As at Monday, the number of confirmed cases stood at 55,160 with 1061 deaths.

Mum is the word

As it stands, only social critics have condemned the act publicly.

Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, did not respond to telephone calls put across to him. The CBN’s spokesperson, Isaac Okoroafor, could not be reached via telephone as well.

Although Hanan’s wedding is one of many ceremonies across Nigeria where the Naira has been defaced and the CBN Act violated, there have been few reports of prosecution of offenders by the authorities.

Aggrieved Nigerian students in Osogbo, Osun State, and Ibadan in Oyo state, have taken to the streets to protest the recent increase in electricity tariff and petroleum pump price.

The protesters in Ibadan carried placards with different inscriptions to convey their disapproval while chanting anti-government songs. They condemned the policies of the Buhari-led administration, describing the recent increment in the prices of electricity and fuel as wicked and one that lacked sound judgment.

Speaking to newsmen, the Chairman of the Joint Campus Committee of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Mayowa Opakunle,

Quote:''We are out on the streets to register our grievances and show our displeasure at the wicked policies and unjust treatment of Nigerians by the Federal Government.
We say no to fuel price hike and electricity tariff increment at this period when many people have lost their jobs, many have not even been paid salaries for the past six months.
Prices of food, other goods and services have continued to increase while salaries are either being slashed into half for so many while others don’t even get at all.
But despite these hardships, the government has continued to increase prices of commodities. The consistent show of ineptitude and cluelessness on the part of the President and his cabinet is worrisome.”

The protesting students in Osogbo, also carried placards with inscriptions expressing their displeasure over the recent hikes in petroleum products and electricity tariff

On Wednesday, September 2, the Federal Government through the Petroleum Pricing Marketing Company (PPMC) increased the ex-depot price of petrol from N138 to N151.56 per litre, forcing marketers to increase pump price from N148 to N162 per litre.

Also on September 1, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) directed the various electricity distribution companies in the country to begin the implementation of the new electricity tariff regime which will see Nigerians paying more for electricity.

We are tired of excuses, sack Service Chiefs' now- Northern Elders tells Buhari

Worried by the increasing level of attacks in various parts in the North, members of the Coalition of North-Central Elders (CNCE) have asked President Buhari to sack the service chiefs now.

In a statement released by its chairman, Usman Bida, today September, 8, the elders said themselves and several other Nigerians, voted President Buhari into office in 2015 and 2019 because of his experience as a military head of state, and so, expect the best from him in prosecuting the war against insecurity in the country.

The elders said it is regrettable that there is no part of the North-Central that is not experiencing terrorist attacks and that Nigerians have become tired of the government's promises and excuses when it comes to matters of insecurity.

Quote:“We join other well-meaning Nigerians to call on Mr. President to immediately restructure the current security architecture in the country with the sacking of the service chiefs as the first steps.

We are saddened that there is no state in the North Central that is free from terrorists’ attacks or that has not had its own fair share of the mindless killing of innocent citizens one time or the other, a region that was the most peaceful in the entire North.”the statement read

The coalition said it was still reeling from the shock of an arrest “over 400 terrorists with dangerous weapons” in Nasarawa state only for the Nigeria Customs Service to alert the country of the presence of Boko Haram insurgents in parts of the north-central.
Quote:“As it stands today, the well-meaning citizens of North Central and Nigeria are frightened by this information.

Some parts of Nasarawa, Niger and Kogi States are no-go areas because of the activities of these terrorists that kill, kidnap, and rob people at will as if we are in a Banana republic. We voted for President Buhari because of his vast experience in security and integrity and we expect the best from him.

Mr. President, we are with you and will always be, but we feel your continued retention of the service chiefs for the last five years running is totally against the wishes of Nigerian people given that it is causing a lot low morale and bad work zeal in the entire Armed Forces. We appeal that you act now.

Mr. President, sir, four officers cannot be more experienced than thousands of the officers we have in the armed forces. It is on this note that we appeal to you to, as a matter of urgency and national importance, sack them from office.” their statement in part reads

Adam Albani: "President Buhari Is Incompetent & Useless" - Islamic Cleric (Video)
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 09-08-2020, 03:14 PM - No Replies

The media space has been set abuzz following the surfacing of a video showing an Islamic cleric by the name Adam Albani vituperating the President Muhammadu Buhari led government for gross incompetence and the hardship it has caused the generality of Nigerians in recent memory.

The viral video, which was posted by SaharaReporters, shows the cleric passionately excoriating the government over its failure to make good on it’s responsibilities to the Nigerian citizenry.

In the video, the cleric labeled the president as ‘incompetent’ and demanded his immediate resignation in view of the President’s call for former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to resign when the country was mired in a quagmire of insecurity during the latter’s presidency.

He said: “Was it not you who told Jonathan to resign because there was insecurity in the land? Will you also not resign because of your incompetence”?

“What is our benefit as citizens? No peace, no unity. The state you are from, they are cursing you.

They are saying may Allah curse you because you are useless in their eyes”.

“What is the benefit of your presidency or that you are commander-in-chief of the armed forces? May your kind be purged from the land”

“What sort of situation is this? If we talk we are arrested and detained. Anyone who attempts it, may he be cursed.

“To be honest, no one can save us from this mess if not Allah. The president is incompetent. The governors are incompetent. The lawmakers have failed. Making fake laws and deceiving the people and stealing from them”.

The cleric, who spoke in his native Hausa, towards the end of his verbal tirade switched to English when he questioned, “What kind of leadership do we have in Nigeria”?

The circumstances that led to her death are still shrouded in mystery, though she was believed to be a victim of scammers or kidnappers, who lured her into the hotel for ritual purposes.

According to report gathered by IGBERE TV, the usual commercial activities are still ongoing at the facility at Abagana, with customers lodging without documentation.

IGBERE TV learnt that before she was lured to the hotel for the dastardly act on August twenty-seventh 2020, the late Miss Nwoye, who was on scholarship at Uniben, had opted for computer lessons at a neighboring town, following the outbreak of COVID-19.

Her mother, Mrs. Chinyere Nwoye and a member of her family fellowship, Brother Jude Okoye, who narrated how they rushed to the hotel shortly after the deceased informed them via phone calls that she was in danger, accused the hotel management of complicity in her painful death through their actions and or inactions, calling on government and human rights groups to unveil the killers.
They said the deceased had called to say she needed her ATM pin number to free herself from “kidnappers”.

According to them, Police officers from Abagana Divisional Police Station, came and took the corpse to Bekee Hospital Mortuary Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area.

Two suspects, including a staff of the hotel, who were reportedly arrested by the Police over the incident were said to have been released, fueling the suspicion of an intense pressure to sweep the matter under the carpet.

When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed said “one suspect not two” was arrested over the incident, adding that the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, for discreet investigation.

EXCLUSIVE: Nigeria's Minister Of Education, Adamu, Flown To Germany Over Undisclosed Medical Condition

Quote:Minister of Education in Nigeria, Adamu Adamu, is currently in a hospital in Berlin, Germany, treating an undisclosed ailment, SaharaReporters has reliably gathered.

Findings revealed that the latest trip was the third time Adamu would be flown to Germany within this period of Coronavirus outbreak for medical attention.

The minister is said to be having kidney problem and undergoing a procedure but it was not totally clear at the time of this report what particular ailment he was being treated for in the European country.

Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu
In the absence of Adamu, who is expected back in the country soon, a lot of key issues in the education sector had stalled.

His absence is said to have slowed down critical strategy in the reopening of schools and also escalated the recent crisis that rocked the University of Lagos where the Vice Chancellor, Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, and Pro-Chancellor, Dr Wale Babalakin, were removed to allow for a thorough investigation into misappropriation of the institution's funds.

"It is the third time that the minister has been flown to Germany on suspected health grounds within this Coronavirus pandemic period.

"On one of those occasions, I heard he used a private jet belonging to a former Pro-Chancellor of a federal university in the country.

"The minister is currently in a hospital in Berlin, Germany, undergoing a procedure, but they are hiding the information especially the purpose of his frequent trip there in recent times.

"His absence has affected a lot of things in the education sector. He has not been able to attend to all the key issue on the ground especially as discussions on the full reopening of schools gathers pace," a government source said.

Adamu is one of the closest ministers to President Muhammadu Buhari and in fact said to be a member of his inner caucus.

In August, SaharaRepoters revealed how Mamman Daura, a nephew and close confidant of President Buhari was flown to the United Kingdom for urgent medical treatment over an undisclosed ailment.

The 80-year-old former journalist was said to have been flown in a private jet to the UK after exhibiting respiratory difficulties with symptoms similar to Coronavirus.

Daura, who was designated as father of the day during last Friday's wedding of President Buhari's daughter, Hanan, was absent at the occasion, pointing to the fact that he may not have returned back to the country from medical treatment in the UK.

In April, late Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Abba Kyari, died from Coronavirus complications after not being able to be flown abroad for treatment following the closure of international airspace by many countries in a bid to curb the spread of the virus.

A key member of the Buhari's administration, his demise at First Cardiology Consultants in Lagos sent panic across Nigeria's seat of power, forcing drastic safety measures to be adopted to protect the President, who has himself battled an undisclosed ailment and had visited UK several times in recent years for medical attention.

Daily Devotional for Tuesday 8th September

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

 TUESDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER.

WE’RE PILGRIMS IN THE EARTH

If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you (John 15:19).

In the days of Esther, the Jews had become comfortable in a strange land; a land of their captivity. They enjoyed liberty in the land and were at ease, until Haman, an influential but wicked man in the kingdom (also a friend of the king) sought to exterminate them.

Esther, the queen, who had been completely oblivious of Haman’s hatred and quest to destroy the Jews received a touching message from her uncle, Mordecai, about Haman’s wicked plot. She quickly intervened and called for prayer and fasting across the land (Esther 4:16). Of course, God heard their prayer and delivered them from the hand of wicked Haman.

Sometimes, you can so enjoy liberty on earth that you forget you’re in a “strange land,” a pilgrim in the earth. This has happened to many; they’ve focused on the journey more than the destination. Some Christians have become complacent, carried away and distracted by the things of this world. Yet, Jesus said, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul” (Mark 8:36).

Let your heart be on the Lord; let the weightier matters of the Kingdom inspire you to action. Win souls. Watch and pray as Jesus said to do. Pray for your nation that the Gospel will spread by free course and be embraced.

There’re certain nations where the Gospel thrived years ago, but today those same nations now disallow the preaching of the Gospel, with Christians under so much persecution. What happened? The answer is simple: the Christians in those nations didn’t do what Jesus said to do: “Watch and pray…” (Matthew 26:41).

We must remember our purpose; our reason for being here, and it’s for a time. We’re ambassadors of Christ, sent from the heavenly Kingdom for the salvation of souls in the earth. Therefore, like the Bible says, “…seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 3:1-2).

CONFESSION

I’m from above, and I’m conscious of it. Doors of opportunity for ministry are opened around the world, and utterance granted to God’s children to proclaim the Gospel of Christ unhindered, in power and effectiveness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

TALKINGSESSION

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Heavenly Father, I’m yielded to be built, edified, energized, and strengthened by Your Word, for a life of greatness, victory, and triumphs.

I thank You for transferring me from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of Your Love Son, Jesus Christ. I live in Your presence, and function with the dominion of Christ over darkness, evil powers, demons, and their works.

I live the victorious, prosperous, and ever-glorious life that I’ve received in Christ. All the wealth in this world belongs to me, for I’m an heir of God and a joint-heir with Christ.

The silver and the gold are mine, including the cattle upon a thousand hills. Therefore, I refuse to be limited by anything in this world.

Through the ministry of the Word, and the Holy Spirit, my growth—spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially is evident; there’s an outburst of prosperity in every area of my life, to the praise and glory of Your Name.

I am a free-flowing conduit of God’s wealth and blessings to others, and I am plugged to an unending supply, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

Bulama Mustapha: Aisha Buhari Reacts To Daily Trust Cartoon On Hanan's Wedding

Nigeria First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has attacked a Daily Trust employee, Bulama Mustapha, over a cartoon on the lavish wedding of her daughter, Hanan.

The elaborate wedding ceremony held last Friday at a time many Nigerians were complaining of hardship as a result of President Muhammadu Buhari government’s harsh economic policies.

On Sunday, Daily Trust published a cartoon showing the President’s wife holding pictures of the wedding on her hands and displaying them in the faces of Nigerians struggling to find their balance in life.

The cartoon drew inspiration from Aisha’s several posts on Instagram where she displayed pictures of Hanan’s wedding.

In reaction to the cartoon, Mrs Buhari said children of Nigerian leaders had the right to get married whether they were performing or not.

Aisha’s spokesperson, Aliyu Abdullahi, told BBC Pidgin that Hanan’s wedding was a low key ceremony.

He said, “The cartoon of Mustapha Bulama trending is very unfair because the wedding wasn’t in anyway insensitive to what Nigerians are going through. In fact, because of that, Mrs Aisha Buhari held a meeting with her staff and told us she wants the wedding to be low key with no massive celebrations.

“The photo she posted of the couple for social media was to thank well wishers and not to rub it on Nigerian faces.”

Supporters of President Buhari had earlier described Daily Trust as toilet paper over the cartoon.

“This has further proved that your publication is toilet paper and should be trashed in the bottom pit of hell. Shame on you,” one of them said.

Another supporter of Buhari, Abdul Ishaka, said, “Dear Daily Trust Toilet Paper, What is really the meaning of this disgusting cartoon? This is pure evil and hate mongering....Aisha Buhari and her family did a very quiet wedding for their kid and you have a place in your dark heart to mock them?

Man rushed to hospital after sticking beer glass up his butthole

A 53-year-old man was rushed into surgery after he inserted a beer glass into his butt hole and couldn't get it out.

The incident took place in the county of Lu in the south-western Chinese province of Sichuan.

The patient, named as Mr Huang, was taken into theatre after struggling to pull the vessel out himself.

Medics were forced to operate because the glass was firmly wedged around 6cm in his rectum.

It is believed the man inserted the glass in his bum for sexual pleasure.

Brit Dr Carol Cooper said: "Most people who do this are men, often with a sexual motive.

“While it’s good to explore one’s sensuality, shoving things like candles, spray cans, and Christmas ornaments up the rear end is taking it too far."

A British Medical Journal report warns doctors not to laugh or shame patients who end up in A&E with items up their bum.

It says: "Generally, patients with rectal foreign bodies try to retrieve the objects by themselves because of shame and embarrassment to seek medical care.

"But the majority fail in these attempts and eventually present to the emergency room.

"Management of these patients requires a respectful and non-condemnatory attitude on behalf of doctors and nurses.

"Prior to discharge, patients should be educated on the potential dangers of their habit."

It is not known how long the Chinese victim will take to recover.

A report by the Affiliated Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Southwest Medical University said the patient inserted the upside-down glass vessel up his backside.

They said it measured 5.62cm in diameter and was 5.91cm tall.

X-ray pictures show the glass lodged in the patient’s back passage, with a team of dedicated doctors working to remove it.

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani militia on Sunday September 7, invaded Buda Community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State and killed three persons including a pastor.

The National President of the Adara Development Association, Awemi Dio Maisamari, who confirmed the attack, said many people were also kidnapped during the incident which took place about 2 am when the natives were asleep.

It was gathered that Rev. Alibura Audu, 45, a senior pastor of ECWA was killed by the gunmen while keeping watch with his church members.

A  statement issued by Maisamari, gave the names of the other two victims as Adamu Tata and Ishaku Peter.

“Today, Sunday, 6 th September 2020 at 2 . 00am, the Adara community of Buda , in Buda Ward of Kajuru LGA came under another deadly attack from suspected Fulani militia," the statement reads.

“The premeditated and unprovoked attack claimed the lives of three people namely Rev . Alubara Audu , 45, with five children ; Adamu Tata , 40, with four children and Ishaku Peter , 37, with five children. Furthermore, the following persons were abducted – Sani Peter , 25 and Esther Sani Peter , 20."

“ these callous and barbaric attacks sometimes abate but never really stop in Adara community. On Sunday 16th August , 2020, another fatal attack occurred at Kallah village on the banks of river Kadun,"

The statement added;

“This resulted in the death of Mr . Danladi Abashi , a 50- year- old farmer who ventured near the villages that were invaded and are still occupied by Fulani herdsmen in the Kallah/ Gefe/Libere area of Kajuru LGA. His body was only recovered with the help of the police because the herdsmen disallowed Adara people from even approaching the occupied enclave.

I can’t be alive, watch you insult Oyedepo – Pastor Ibiyeomie warns Daddy Freeze

David Ibiyeomie, founder and General Overseer of Salvation Ministries has warned controversial Media personality, Daddy Freeze against abusing Bishop David Oyedepo.

Daddy Freeze, who is popularly known for criticising Nigerian pastors, in his recent post on his Instagram page, attacked Bishop David Oyedepo of Winners Chapel for saying women should submit to their husbands.

According to Daddy Freeze, Oyedepo’s advice is a misquote of the scriptures.

Reacting, Pastor Ibiyeomie in a viral video from his Sunday service, blasted Daddy Freeze, warning him not to ever insult Oyedepo or talk about him.

According to the Cleric, ‘he cannot be alive and watch someone insult his father, Oyedepo’.

He said: “I can’t be alive and you insult my father. The day Daddy Freeze insults Oyedepo I will deal with him and arrest him.

“Who gave birth to you? Do you have a father? Show us his picture.

“Oyedepo will not talk but I can’t be alive and you insult my father. I curse the day you were born.

“I will tear you into pieces you bastard. He is insulting him because he has no father.

“You can never insult a father if you have one, be warned. A man whose wife left him, has no good job will be insulting my father and people will be laughing online. I will never be alive to see such and do nothing again.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

 MONDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER.

THE RAPTURE IS CLOSER THAN EVER

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

By the Spirit, the Apostle Paul got the revelation of the rapture of the Church and said, “Behold, I shew you a mystery…” (1 Corinthians 15:51). This is why many don’t understand the Rapture; it’s a mystery; divine revelation. He said, “...We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye , at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed” (1 Corinthians 15:51-52).

The underlined portion shows how fast the Rapture will happen; it’ll be so fast there’d be no time for those who weren’t prepared, because it’s something for which you should have been prepared all your life.

In our theme verse, we find an expression that’s synonymous with the term, “Rapture”; it’s the phrase, “caught up” which is from the Greek word, “harpazō.” It means to seize, catch (away, up), pluck, pull, take by force.

At the Rapture, it makes no difference where you are, the power of God will snatch you away from this world. Christians who had died will be resurrected, and together with them, we’ll be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord. What a day that will be!

When is this going to take place? It’s closer than ever; it’s going to be anytime soon. Your responsibility is to be prepared by living your life for the Lord, every day. Keep walking in love, and your faith activated to be caught up to be with the Lord at His appearing.

The Bible says He’s coming for a Church without spot, wrinkle, blemish or any such thing (Ephesians 5:27). Live every day, every moment of your life in His righteousness, producing works and fruits of righteousness.

CONFESSION

The Lord Jesus is coming for a Church without spot, wrinkle, blemish or any such thing, and I’m ready. My faith is activated to be caught up to be with the Lord forever! And while in expectation of this glorious “catching away,” my life and passions are about His Kingdom and its expansion; through me, many more are being enlisted for the Rapture, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#TALKINGSESSION

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for all that You’ve prepared for me today. My spiritual antenna is raised to hear and receive Your instructions, guidance, and wisdom that’ll propel me in the path of greatness that You’ve ordained for me.

I thank You, blessed Father, for the power of Your Word, and its ability to produce results in my life. My feet is set upon the Rock to stay; that Rock holds me firm and fortified against the pressures and adversities of life.

I dwell in the light wherein there’s no darkness or pain, but victory, dominion, and glory forever. My faith is increased and strengthened to rule over circumstances, and overcome any challenge that may come my way today.

I live above the economy and economics of this world. I am immune to the hardships, corruption, and decadence that ravage the lives of men.

I live in the Word, and therefore, in victory and triumph always. I live and walk in health, prosperity, and in all the benefits of salvation in Christ.

The Name of Jesus is named upon me, and I live triumphantly, from glory to glory, heaping success upon success.

I go forth today, in victory and dominion over satan, and his cohorts of darkness, and the circumstances of life.

I experience the power and supernatural grace of God today, as I make manifest the savour of the knowledge of Christ, in every place, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

Gov Godwin Obaseki of Edo State on Sunday made a surprise visit to the anointing church service of the OMEGA Fire Ministries Worldwide in Auchi.

Obaseki thanked the worshippers for their prayers and urged them to continue to pray for Nigeria and the peaceful conduct of the Edo governorship election.

“I am not going to campaign even though the election is near because the General Overseer will not allow his altar to be used for political campaign but I want to tell you to shun violence and pray for peace in the election”, he admonished them.

Following his brief speech for which he received cheers from the worshippers, Apostle John Suleman prayed for peaceful conduct of the election and strength for Obaseki who knelt down before the whole church.

Suleiman also prayed for Obaseki’s deputy, Phillip Shuaib.

Recall that last week, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu also worshipped with Apostle Suleman.

COVID-19 scam: Two Nigerians arrested for defrauding a German company of 14.7m euros

The Cybercrime Unit of the Nigeria Police Force, INTERPOL, National Central Bureau, Abuja has arrested two (2) suspects for their complicity in a major multi-million Euro scam touching on the procurement of COVID-19 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

A statement released by the spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force, Frank Mba on Sunday September 6, says the suspects, Babatunde Adesanya a.k.a Teddy, 50years old Master degree holder in Cell Biology and Akinpelu Hassan Abass, 41years old, the M.D Musterpoint Investment Nig. Ltd, who are members of a "sophisticated transnational criminal network," allegedly cloned the corporate website of ILBN Holdings BV, Holland to transact with and defraud one Freiherr Fredrick Von Hahn, a representative of the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Quote:The arrest of the suspects was sequel to a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) received by the Bureau from the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice conveying a request from the German Government for investigations into a fraudulent transaction on the procurement of COVID-19 Personal Protective Equipment linked to a Nigerian-based Bank Account.

Discrete investigations by INTERPOL Nigeria revealed that the suspects and their Holland-based cohorts, one Eduardus Boomstra and Geradius Maulder specialized in identity theft, cyber-stalking, cloning of corporate websites amongst other cyber mischiefs to defraud unsuspecting members of the public across the world. In this instance, the suspects fraudulently obtained from Mr Freiherr Fredrick Von Hahn the sum of 1.5m Euro and another 880,000 Euro as advanced payment for the supply of COVID-19 PPEs valued at 14.7million Euros. Disturbed by the non-arrival of the PPEs, Mr Freiherr Fredrick Von Hahn eventually visited the corporate office of ILBN Holdings BV in Holland to inquire reasons for the delay in supplying the items only to find out that the company never did business with him and that the transaction was a scam.

The fraudsters merely cloned the company’s website and falsely presented themselves as representatives of the company before subsequently executing the fraudulent transaction. Consequently, he reported the case of fraud to the Police in Holland and this led to the arrest of Eduardus Boomstra and Geradius Maulder in Holland and investigations extended to Nigeria.

Investigation by INTERPOL Nigeria further revealed that Babatunde Adesanya received 498,000 Euro from Eduardus Boomstra and Geradius Maulder through his Citibank London account and transferred same to an account number domiciled with a Lagos branch of a leading commercial bank in Nigeria belonging to Musterpoint Investment Nig. Ltd.'' the statement in part reads

While commending the Commissioner of Police, INTERPOL, CP Garba Baba Umar and operatives of INTERPOL Nigeria, Cybercrime Unit for a job well done, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni assured members of the public and the international community of the commitment of the Force to tackling cybercrimes and other transnational crimes.

Mba said the suspects will be arraigned before a competent court of law soon.

9 year old boy found dead, covered in bruises and vomit was ‘horrifically tortured by stepmom and fed only rice and water’

A nine year-old boy, Emrik Osuna, who was found dead in Idaho, was horrifically tortured by his stepmom and fed only rice and water, prosecutors say in new allegations.

Last week Tuesday, first responders found Emrik Osuna without a pulse in an apartment in Meridian, covered in bruises and vomit.

His heart wasn't also beating and the responders couldn't revive him.

The medical team also say he appeared to be malnourished and had vomit coming out of his mouth.

He later died in the pediatric ICU at St. Luke's Meridian Medical Center
.
According to prosecutors, he allegedly suffered unspeakable neglect and “horrific torture”  at the hands of Monique Osuna, 27 (pictured below)

“In combination with this physical abuse, this defendant admitted to what is essentially torture of E.O. by locking him in a small closet at night to sleep, withholding food, making him do physical strenuous punishments while she was working," said prosecutor Tamara Kelly.

Addressing the judge on Thursday, Prosecutor,  Kelly said: “The little boy had bruises all over his body, specifically on his buttocks, groin, legs and torso.
“Some of the bruises were extremely large and essentially covered the back of his body.”

The prosecutor also alleged that Osuna told cops she beat the boy with a frying pan, a belt, and a dog leash because it was "heavier" than a belt.

Kelly detailed how the disturbing alleged abuse intensified while Emrik was doing remote learning during the coronavirus pandemic.
“Due to COVID, [Osuna]’s been working from home and since [Emrik] was not in school, she essentially had access to him all day long,” Kelly said.

Osuna allegedly forced her stepson to do wall-sit exercises and jumping jacks while she worked.

Court documents also allege Emrik's dad, Erik Osuna, (pictured below) told investigators the nine-year-old was only fed rice and water in the weeks before he died.

During the hearing this week, it also emerged that detectives had found messages from Emrik's father to Osuna saying they needed to take the boy to hospital.

The court case continues.

Trump must be re-elected, only him can prevent another 9/11 - Osama bin Laden’s niece says

Osama Bin Ladin's niece, Noor Bin Ladin, has stated Donald Trump is the only president who can prevent another 9/11 terrorist attack on America, because he ‘stops terrorists at the root’

Osama bin Laden organized the 9/11 terrorist attack in New York, the greatest terrorist attack on American soil.

Noor, who claims to be a Trump supporter and lives in Switzerland,  said she has been supporting Trump since he announced his bid for the White House in 2015.

“I have been a supporter of President Trump since he announced he was running in the early days in 2015. I have watched from afar and I admire this man’s resolve,” she told the New York Post in her first ever interview.
“He must be reelected … It’s vital for the future of not only America, but western civilization as a whole.”

“ISIS proliferated under the Obama/Biden administration, leading to them coming to Europe," the 33-year-old, who occasionally wears a Trump onesie to bed, continued.
"Trump has shown he protects America and us by extension from foreign threats by obliterating terrorists at the root and before they get a chance to strike."

"[Radical Islam] has completely infiltrated our society,” bin Ladin continued.
“In the US it’s very worrying that the left has aligned itself completely with the people who share that ideology."

In April, documents resurfaced showing Osama bin Laden wanted to assassinate President Barack Obama so "totally unprepared" Joe Biden would be president.

The papers, seized during the raid on bin Laden's Pakistan compound in 2011, were declassified in 2012 but have been republished in the run up to the 2020 presidential election.

“The reason for concentrating on them is that Obama is the head of infidelity and killing him automatically will make [Vice President] Biden take over the presidency," bin Laden wrote in his documents.
"Biden is totally unprepared for that post, which will lead the US into a crisis.

"As for Petraeus, he is the man of the hour...and killing him would alter the war's path [in Afghanistan]."

Chief Executive Officer, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) Plc, Mr. Segun Agbaje, said while this period is undoubtedly tough and trying time for people, businesses and economies the world over, the bank’s financial performance in the first half of the year reflected the quality of its past decisions which have broadened its earnings and strategically positioned it to thrive, thus far, through the current global health and economic crises.

He pointed out that underpinning the financial performance iwas the bank’s commitment to being there for its customers and the communities it serves.

He noted that over the past six months, the bank has lent the full weight of its r franchise to safeguarding lives and livelihoods of staff and customers by leading from the front in the fight to curtail the COVID-19 outbreak and offering grace periods on loans to small business customers.

“Going forward, our focus is not just to survive this pandemic, but to thrive beyond it. That is why we are going ahead with our plans to reimagine how we create value for all our stakeholders. We know that making financial services work for customers goes beyond banking, and in line with our long-term strategy, we will seek to create and drive innovative financial solutions that go beyond banking,” Agbaje said.

Buhari not ready to concede power, APC looting more than Abacha – Adebanjo

on
 September 6, 2020
[Image: Pa-Ayo-Adebanjo.jpg]

Yoruba leader, Ayo Adebanjo, has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari is keen on holding on to power.
He said the Nigerian constitution gave the President excess authority, adding that Buhari doesn’t want a review because his powers will reduce.

The Afenifere chieftain said this in an interview with The Sun.

Speaking on the controversial Water Resources Bill, Adebanjo noted that it was part of the problems caused by the constitution.

The bill proposes that the federal government control all water sources and river banks.
States governments, groups and prominent Nigerians have declared their opposition to the proposal.

[/url]
Adebanjo, while giving his position, insisted that Buhari has no integrity.

He condemned the concentration of power despite Nigeria being a multi-ethnic society.

“When I said the man has no integrity, people are quarrelling with me. He does not want to relieve himself of dictatorial power. I have said it before; under the present constitution, Nigeria’s president is the most powerful president in the whole world. Buhari is not ready to concede that power, he just wants to keep us talking until another election.

“Anybody who is talking about doing another election without going back to federalism is just wasting his time. You do another election under this constitution, you go back again. They will rig it and tell you to go to court and the court will confirm it. I have been in this game when Buhari was a toddler. So, he can’t deceive me.

[url=https://dailypost.ng/2020/09/05/buhari-loses-family-doctor-marliya-zayyana/]

“We say people should go back to the previous constitution; the constitution Awolowo, Azikwe, and Sardauna agreed upon at independence. I put these questions to Buhari: Are you more intelligent than Sardauna? Are you more educated than Sardauna? Are you more Fulani than Sarduana? He has not answered my questions.

“I have been repeating these over and again, not Femi Adesina or Garba Shehu has responded to me. But whenever they want to insult us, they say they don’t know what those clamouring for restructuring are talking about, including Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, who took Obasanjo to court over the issue of restructuring when he was Attorney-General of Lagos State.

“It’s a gang up. They are deceiving themselves, deceiving the country. The corruption they said they would wipe out is growing bigger and bigger.

The looting is growing higher and higher more than what we had under the regime of the late General Sani Abacha. I have passed the stage where anybody will be tossing me around”, he said.

Quote:…agency’s sec office scrapped, replaced with admin director.

A new bill seeking to amend the Economic and Financial Crimes Act has weakened the Office of the Chairman of the EFCC and created a new position known as the Director-General of the EFCC, Sunday PUNCH has learnt.

The bill, which was obtained by this newspaper, is titled, ‘An Act to Repeal the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, 2004 (act no. 1 of 2004) and Enact the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Act Which Establishes a More Effective and Efficient Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to Conduct Enquiries and Investigate All Economic and Financial Crimes and Related Offences and for other Related Matters.’

The bill, it was learnt, is being put together by the Attorney General, Abubakar Malami (SAN), on behalf of the Federal Government for onward transmission to the National Assembly.

The proposed law was initiated barely weeks after the suspended acting Chairman of the EFCC, Mr Ibrahim Magu, accused Malami of frustrating the anti-corruption war of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd).

According to the proposed law, the director-general will be appointed by the President based on the recommendation of the AGF and subject to confirmation by the Senate.

The director-general, and not the chairman, will be in charge of the running of the daily affairs of the commission.

Section 8 of the bill reads in part, “There shall be for the commission, a director-general who shall be appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Attorney General subject to the confirmation by the Senate.

“Subject to the provisions of subsection (3) of this section, the Director-General shall be a retired or serving member of any government institution, including any security or law enforcement agency not below the rank of a director or its equivalent or a person from the private sector.

“A person shall not be appointed as a director-general unless he is of proven integrity and has 15 years cognate experience in security, forensic or financial crimes investigation; forensic accounting or auditing; or law practice or enforcement relating to economic and financial crimes or anti-corruption.”

The director-general, according to the proposed law, shall hold office for a period of four years subject to reappointment by the President for a further term of four years and no more.

The bill states that the chairman of the EFCC shall be the head of the EFCC board.

Other members of the board shall include the director-general, a representative of the Federal Ministry of Justice, a representative of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Director of Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, two other Nigerians with 15 years cognate experience in legal, finance, banking or forensic auditing and the Director of Administration who shall be the secretary of the board.

The proposed law states that the chairman and members of the management board shall be appointed by the President, on the recommendation of the Attorney General subject to confirmation by the Senate; and for a period of four years in the first instance, renewable for another period of four years and no more.

The EFCC board headed by the chairman will be in charge of establishing policy guidelines for the commission; review and approve the strategic plans of the commission; oversee the due performance of the functions of the commission in accordance with the provisions of this Act; and do such other things which in its opinion are necessary to ensure the efficient and effective performance of the functions of the Commission under this Act.

Sunday PUNCH observed that the Secretary of the EFCC, which is a creation of Section 8 of the existing EFCC Act is not mentioned in the new bill, indicating that the position has been scrapped.

The current EFCC Secretary, Ola Olukoyede, who has also been suspended by Buhari pending investigation, is in charge of the secretariat of the commission and is responsible for the administration of the secretariat and the keeping of the books and records of the commission.

The proposed law not only restates the power of the AGF to discontinue the prosecution of criminal cases as guaranteed in Section 174 of the 1999 Constitution, it empowers the AGF to cancel the prosecutorial power of the EFCC when he sees fit. Section 45 of the new bill states that the AGF may, after notifying the EFCC, intervene in court proceedings, at first instance or on appeal, where, in the opinion of the AGF, public interest, the interest of justice and the need to prevent abuse of legal process so demand.

It further reads, “On receipt of the notice under subsection (2) of this section, the commission shall hand over to the Attorney-General the prosecution file and all documents relating to the prosecution and provide him with such other information as he may require on the matter within the time specified by him.

The commission shall furnish returns of all cases handled by it annually and in such manner and at such intervals as the Attorney-General shall direct.

“Where the commission fails to comply with the provisions of this section, the Attorney General may, subject to prevailing circumstances, revoke the power to prosecute from the commission.”

Efforts to get a reaction from the AGF’s office on Saturday proved abortive as his spokesman, Umar Gwandu, did not answer telephone calls.

However, in a statement signed by Gwandu on August 25, 2020, the AGF said the constitution already gave him enormous powers to supervise the EFCC and other agencies regardless of the EFCC Act.

The statement titled, “I don’t need more powers to supervise agencies’, read in part, “The Attorney General of the Federation does not need the tinkering of the current EFCC (Establishment) Act 2004 to enable him to regulate the institution and could, therefore not, in any way, seek to sponsor any bill for more powers to control the commission.

“It is trite to say that by virtue of the extant laws of the land as well as rules and legislation governing the conduct of the governmental operations, the Attorney General of the Federation has indisputable statutory powers to regulate the operations of the commissions without recourse to any additional legislation.

Section 43 of the EFCC Act has made it abundantly clear that ‘the Attorney General of the Federation may make rules or regulations with respect to the exercise of any of the duties, functions or powers of the Commission under this Act.”

The bill states that the director-general shall be the chief executive of the EFCC and be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the commission; the execution and implementation of the policies of the commission; the organisation, control and management of the affairs of the commission.

Other responsibilities of the director-general include the implementation of the commission’s functions, the direction, supervision and control of the employees of the commission; the maintenance of transparent accounting records in accordance with applicable laws governing statutory bodies; and ensuring that the commission is guided by the laws of Nigeria and international best practices.

CACOL kicks against bill, demands autonomy for anti-graft agency

A civil society organisation, Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, has said that the proposed bill seeking to amend the Economic and Financial Crimes Act was in bad taste for the commission, adding that the anti-graft agency deserved to have more autonomy.

The CACOL Executive Director, Debo Adeniran, in an interview on Saturday, noted that putting the EFCC head under the AGF’s recommendation would only make the commission dance to the tune of corrupt politicians and reduce the effectiveness of the commission.

The director said, “The AGF is a politician and a political appointee who may be tempted to want to protect the interests of some of the politicians who are under EFCC’s investigations.

“The National Assembly also may want to reduce the powers of the commission because some of its members are being probed by the anti-graft agency. Instead of passing this new bill, the EFCC should be given more autonomy and made answerable to the President or at least, the Vice-President.

“We demand that the bill is dropped; it is unwarranted and it is against the spirit of progressivism and anti-corruption efforts.”

Assassination Goes Awry In Abia, 2 Suspects Arrested, Retired Army Officer Runs

Quote:Assassination goes awry in Abia
• 2 suspects arrested, a retired army officer allegedly involved, on the run • Victim recounts ordeal, tells how he narrowly escaped death

Two alleged assassins are now in the custody of Abia State Police Command waiting for their day of judgement in court. They were trailed and arrested in Owerri, Imo State, by men and officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Command after carrying out albeit a failed operation in Abia State.

They are: Victor Mark Onyekachi, 23 and Emmanuel Okorie, 25. The duo who hail from Echele Otamkpa village in Isiukwuato Local Government Area of Abia State were said to have been hired by one Uche (surname withheld), a retired army officer, now said to be on the run, to kill Barrister Mark Okorie Ogbonnaya, from Ahaba Imenyi, who is the immediate past Transitional Chairman of Isiukwuato Local Government Council, with whom he was allegedly engaged in power tussle over the chairmanship of the local government area.

Hasty planning, poor execution

But in-between the point of conception of the idea and its execution, distrust came in and the contracted assassins rather than carrying out the hatchet job they were given, chose to fleece their victim of large sum of money and lied to the person who sent them that they had killed him. But while he was happy to receive the news, all the same, he did not give them a dime but asked them to come back in two days time to collect the agreed sum for the murder job.

Suspecting their lives to be in danger both from their sponsor and the law enforcement agents who they suspect must have been tipped off they ran to Owerri to hide till things cool off. But from there they continued to send threat messages to their victim to give them more money or else get killed. It was in the course of doing that the long arm of the law caught up with them.

On the day of their operation, the two assassins reportedly wore an army camouflage uniform and had with them pump action rifle said to have been given to them by the man who sent them on the deadly mission: Uche. They were supposed to use them in the Operation Kill Barrister Ogbonnaya assignment. But trouble started when rather than assassinate him, they collected N100, 000 from him through electronic transfer. They also collected his two phones, Infinix and Samsung makes, and dumped him at Akara Junction, Ovim, in Isiukwuato Local Government Area of Abia State.

Police Commissioner’s account of case

Throwing more light into what happened, the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Janet Agbede told Saturday Sun that, on being dropped, the victim, totally shaken by the experience in which he narrowly escaped death by a whisker, rushed straight to SARS office Aba, as well as write a petition to him, to report matter on July 16, 2020.

“I immediately ordered the SARS commander, Obiogwu Johnbull (Superintendent of Police) and his operatives on July 24, 2020 to swing into action,” she said. “They did and arrested the two suspects where they lodged under the guise of students at Rosa Mystic Lodge, at Nekede Federal Polytechnic, Owerri, Imo State.”  She further disclosed in the course of investigation they recovered from them the two phones taken from Barrister Ogbonnaya. She added that Onyekachi and Okorie have admitted committing the crime for which they are being held in police custody.

Suspect tells how they bungled case

In giving some insight into what happened, Onyekachi told Saturday Sun a bit about his life history and involvement in crime. His words: “I attended Divine Agenda Model School Onitsha and Isiukwuato High School, Isiukwuato. After that, I learnt Fashion Design. In July, 2020,  myself and my cousin, Emmanuel Okorie went to Mr. Uche’s  house to beg him to assist us with some money.  He told us that he would assist us but we have a job to execute for him before he can give us the money. We asked him what kind of job was that. He took us to Barrister Mark Okorie Ogbonnaya’s house and showed us the place and said he would want us to eliminate him.

“The following day, he promised to give us N1.5m if we execute the job. We both agreed. He gave us his army uniform and a pump-action gun with four cartridges and insisted that we should kill Barrister Ogbonnaya because he is contesting for the chairmanship of Isiukwanto Local Government Area. He didn’t give us any money immediately but promised to do so the moment we finish doing the job. After reaching such an agreement with him, my cousin and I went to Ogbonnaya’s house at about 11.00 pm on the D-Day.

“I wore the army uniform and held the pump-action gun, while Emmanuel was in mufti and held a small jack knife in his hand. We got to the place and waited for him to drive into his compound. He did in his Lexus 470 Jeep. Immediately, he saw us, he became afraid. But to calm his fears, we told him that we were army officers on a mission to search and arrest and take him away with us for interrogation because of a report written against him. His sister came out from the house to ask whether there was any problem. He told her not to worry, that we were there on official assignment. Thereafter, he drove with us in his car from his house to Akara, Ovim village before we opened up to him and told him our real mission to assassinate him. But we said we would not kill him because he did not do us anything bad. And, besides we are not professional killers or assassins. We only agreed to do the dirty job for a fee.

“We told him that we only accepted Mr. Uche’s offer because we needed some money to set up our own businesses. We warned him to be careful and to hide himself for three days so that Mr. Uche who sent us would think we had actually assassinated him. We asked him to assist us financially in whatever way he can so that we can leave the village. Still shaking with our story, right before us, he transferred N 100,000 to my cousin’s Polaris Bank account. Then he released to us his two Infinix phones as evidence to convince Mr. Uche to believe that we indeed carried out the assignment.

“Having reached such agreement, he dropped us at Amaba village, after exchanging phone contacts with us and drove away. From there, we walked down to Mr. Uche’s house to lie to him that we had killed Ogbonnaya as he instructed. He was excited and told us well done. We returned the army uniform and the pump-action rifle back to him, after removing some cartridges from the four that he gave to us. However, we did not give or show him Barrister Ogbonaya’s two phones as evidence as we originally planned. Actually, we had promised to return them to the owner as soon as we finished giving our report to our sender. Uche told us to come back two days later to collect our money as we agreed.

“But rather than return the phones we decided to keep them. In fact, to prevent him from looking for us to collect the phones back we relocated from Abia State to Nekede Polytechnic, Owerri, Imo State. With part of the money given to us by Ogbonnaya, we rented and lodged in self-contain apartment. Thereafter, we started using Ogbonnaya’s two phones to make calls both to him and to other people until July 24, 2020 when the SARS operatives from Aba stormed our compound around 2 am and rounded us up.”

Second suspect explains reason behind the betrayal

Okorie, in his own account, agreed that he and Onyekachi were not only cousins but also partners in crime. “I hail from Echele Otamkpa village in Isiukwuato Local Government Area of Abia State,” he said. “We carried out the operation. We didn’t kill Barrister Ogbonnaya because we are not killers; we just needed some money from Mr. Uche to enable us establish business. If we had killed him we knew that Uche, a retired army officer, would never have given us the money that he promised. That’s why we were very careful when he gave us the assignment. If we had wasted the Barrister’s life what would have been our gain? The fact that he did not give us one kobo after we returned the army uniform and gun is a proof of what I am talking about. He told us to come back two days later. It was when we felt that our lives could be in danger both from him and the police that we relocated to Owerri, to rent a house.”

Victim recounts ordeal and how he escaped

Ogbonnaya, 53, the victim who is at the centre of the whole drama explained how he found himself in the eye of the storm and how he narrowly escaped death in the hands of the two death merchants and their sponsor. Here is his account, which, at some levels, contradicts the suspects’: “In 2019, I served as the transitional council chairman of Isuikwuato Local Government. On July 7, 2020, I went to entertain my friends at Akara Junction, Ahaba Imenyi. I went home but as I was trying to park my vehicle in my compound, I saw armed men with one of them dressed in military uniform and pointing a gun at me. They drew closer. I was confused. The man in military uniform told me they were hired assassins and asked me to identify myself. I said ‘no.’ They came in and ransacked my house. I informed my sister who entered while they were doing so to alert the villagers. The man in military uniform threatened to shoot her if she tried to raise any alarm. They searched my house, especially my bedroom and that of my relatives. They opened my boxes and other items. In fact, they practically turned my room upside down while engaged in the search.

“The   whole operation lasted over one hour. They ordered me to enter my vehicle and along the way they said they were military men from 143 Battalion, Ovim. They asked me how many bank accounts I keep. I told them that it’s only Zenith.  They ordered me to give them my phone and pin number. One of them opened Zenith platform and told me to transfer money to him. I told him there is a limit that I could transfer. I said it is only N100, 000, which I did at about 12:45am. They ordered me to continue to drive down the road. I drove close to Abasso Apostolic Church, Amaba, Isiukwuato before they ordered me to stop. They collected my Samsung Galaxy SQ plus and warned me not to report the incident to any law enforcement authority or else they will come back and kill me.

“It was around 1.30am that I got home to discover that in the course of their search they had taken away with them my Infinix phone. In all, the two phones they took away with them were worth N357, 000. With them they were calling and threatening me on the other phone which they didn’t take away. On July 16, 2020, I went and submitted a petition to the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Janet Agbede and reported the case to SARS, Aba, which prompted their arrest and recovery of my two phones.”

Agbede said that investigation is ongoing and that the two suspects will soon be charged to court. She also vowed to track down and arrest Uche who was said to have escaped the moment he learnt that Barrister Ogbonnaya was not killed after all, and that the two people he sent to do the job were nowhere to be found in Abia State.

A body has been found in a Kensington Palace lake – home to Prince William, Kate Middleton and Princess Eugenie.

The body was retrieved last weekend from one of the ornamental lakes at the front of the London palace.

Police discovered the corpse during a search for artist Endellion Lycett Green, granddaughter of poet laureate Sir John Betjeman.

Delli was later found alive, and the corpse turned out to be that of another woman.

In a message shared with friends, John Lycett Green, Delli's brother, confirmed it had been a case of mistaken identity and she was found "alive, safe and well."

He said: "My sister Endellion is alive, safe and well.

"Thank you all for the support and love you showed for Delli and her family.

"Sorry to all of you that, like us, were grieving for the wonder that is Delli. We were told a body was found and was her.

"It was not, and Delli was found last night."

Mr Green added: "RIP the soul that was found in Kensington Round Pond on Saturday morning."

A friend of the family told the Daily Mail: "Delli went through a bad patch, but it’s a huge relief to everyone that she is safe and well.

"It’s been a traumatic week."

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "The death is being treated as unexplained at this time, but is not thought to be suspicious. Inquiries are ongoing."

The spokesman added that Endellion's family were contacted "as part of inquiries to establish the identity of the deceased."

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

 SUNDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER.

THE CHURCH IS GOD’S TREASURE

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18).

In Matthew 13:44, Jesus said, “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.” Jesus bought the whole field because of the treasure in the field. The treasure is the Church, and the field is the world.

Jesus bought the whole world with the price of His own blood, because of the Church; He gave everything. This tells us what Satan wants. When he creates or inspires crises in the world, his eyes are on God’s children, the Church. His end game is always to go after the Church of Jesus Christ. He’s completely averse to God’s people serving and worshipping God freely. But he’s a failure.

Why is Satan so much against the Church? It’s because the Church—you and I—have what Satan lusted for from the very beginning. He had said, “…I will be like the most High” (Isaiah 14:14), but he couldn’t. Rather, he was kicked out of heaven. Then he found out the Church, which Jesus created, would share God’s Name, share God’s throne—His seat—with Him!

Today, we’re one with God by virtue of Christ’s love. Jesus said, I will build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. That’s a truth that can’t be broken. Hallelujah! There’s no force in the universe that can stand against the Church. Don’t see the Church as a mere organization; it’s the sacred body of Jesus Christ—His pearl of great price.

CONFESSION

The Church of Jesus Christ is making impact with great glory, greater ability and unstoppable influence. We’re giving no place to Satan, because greater is He that’s in us than he that’s in the world. And Christians around the world are on the alert to continually neutralise all of Satan’s strategems and manoeuvres against the Church, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#TALKINGSESSION

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Righteous Father, I am so grateful for Your boundless blessings in my life. Thank You for the power of the Spirit that is at work in me to effectively minister the Gospel to those in my world, and the regions beyond.

Your grace is released even now for hearts to be touched and converted by the news of Your saving power. I am called, justified, and glorified according to Your divine predestination.

Your call on my life is that of honour! I am the chosen of the Lord; therefore, I refuse to cast away the call of God on my life. His call is my only insurance for a glorious life and future.

I am serving the Lord unreservedly, living for Him, and honouring what He honours. I am always glad and full of praise for the opportunities He gives me for service.

I walk in the glory of God. I live in the dominion and authority of Christ! Nothing, and no one, can successfully stand against me, as I go forth proclaiming liberty to the captives, recovery of sight to the blind, bringing men out of darkness into the glorious liberty of the sons of God!

My whole life is about the call; therefore, I refuse to treat it lightly. The only thing that matters to me is the call of God on my life and how to fulfill it.

I am fulfilling that call by the power of the Spirit. Daily, I give attention to God’s Word and His call on my life.

I’ve made the decision to follow the Spirit, not the world or the flesh. His desires are my desire. As I serve Him truly and wholeheartedly, He fills my life with His beauty, grace, glory, and honour.

Thank You, Dear heavenly Father, for calling me with a holy calling. As I give myself to the study of the Word and prayer, I am further enlightened on how to fulfill my divine destiny in You without reproach.

None of my steps shall slide, because I hear Your voice directing me in Your perfect will, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Hallelujah!

God bless you

50-year-old security man suffocates after reportedly sleeping with his face mask on

A security guard identified as Solomon Ede has died after he allegedly slept wearing his face mask in his place of work in Alako area of Abeokuta, Ogun state on Friday, August 28.

The Nation reports that Solomon was well known in the area for never failing to wear his face mask as part of measures to protect himself from contracting the dreaded Coronavirus. However, on Friday, the 50-year-old had a few glasses of local gin popularly known as Ogogoro before going to bed. He went to bed with his face mask on.

His lifeless body was discovered face down, suggesting that he died of suffocation from the face mask. Neighbors who came to fetch water at the compound of the house where the deceased worked, banged on the gate of the building endlessly but late Ede did not come out to grant them access to the tap.

It was said that the noise at the gate of the building alerted late Ede’s boss who opened the gate for the visitors and decided to check on Ede in his room. He noticed that the door was locked so he forced it open only to find Ede lying face down on the bed lifeless and with his face mask in place.

The boss was said to have raised the alarm which attracted other residents to the building, with many blaming the deceased’s tragic death on his obsession with alcohol.

A source said

Quote:“But for the noise from those who came to fetch water in the early hours of the day, no one would have known that a tragedy had occurred.

It was when the deceased failed to come out of his apartment to attend to those fetching water in the premises of the house that his boss came out and discovered his body.”
Shocked by the discovery, the deceased's employer reported the matter to a police division at Kemta, Idi Aba.

Residents of the area claim the deceased took to alcohol after suffering depression. He was said to have been warned by his employer and others to desist from his habitual abuse of alcohol.

Quote:“He usually removed his face mask before going to bed. But he took some ogogoro late in the evening and was downcast. Those who saw him at the entrance of his apartment asked him to remove the mask on his face and go to bed, but he refused.

”However, he went to bed forgetting to remove his face mask and slept face down. He was probably choked to death by the face mask,” one of the residents who spoke on condition of anonymity said

It has been revealed that Kanye West has spent $6.8 million on his Presidential campaign so far, despite failing to file paperwork in time to get his name on the ballots in several states.

The Billionaire rapper, 43, whose political party is called The Birthday Party, has only made the ballot in 10 states, including Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota, according to CNN.

West’s campaign finance report, filed to the Federal Election Commission on Friday, reported bringing in a total of $6.8 million between July 15 and Aug. 31.

The campaign raised $11,472 in contributions from eight donors that gave between $200 and $1,000 and smaller donors who gave under $200 during that time, the report shows.

The report also shows that the campaign spent a total of $5.9 million during that time period. $2.7 million was paid to Millennial Strategies, based in Long Island, N.Y., and Atlas Strategy Group for “ballot access services, polling, campaign management consulting, legal services, and election law research, according to the filing. ”

The campaign also spent $1.5 million on Fortified Consulting, based in Tempe, Ariz. Politico reported that Fortified Consulting shares an address with Lincoln Strategy Group, which did work in 2016 for President Trump’s campaign as well as the campaign of Carly Fiorina.

Another large sum of West campaign's money went to a Tempe, Arizona-based firm named Fortified Consulting, which was paid roughly $1.5 million for similar services, the filing shows. The firm is owed an additional $1.2 million from the campaign, which isn't included in the total spending.

The campaign spent a total of about $404,000 on legal fees, paying a wide range of firms, and spent $95,000 on private jet services.
