Former All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman, Victor Giadom, has condemned the deployment of Police operatives against Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike.

The chieftain said he will not support illegality despite being a member of the party controlling the federal government.

On Saturday, Giadom posted his position on Twitter.
“Stopping a sitting governor like @GovWike that has immunity to move freely at least till 11.59 yesterday, should be seen as an infringement on the constitution and could be seen as a treasonable act. I am an @OfficialAPCNg chieftain and I won’t be part of illegality.”

In their reaction, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors vowed not to leave Edo.

Convicted US killer serving two life sentences tells judge he'll kill again unless he's given death penalty after murdering fellow inmate

A convicted US killer already serving two life sentences has asked a judge to give him the death penalty or he will kill again after stabbing a fellow inmate to death in an Indiana prison.

Tommy P. Holland, 45, of Indianapolis was charged with murder for stabbing Clifford Baggett, 28, to death at the Pendleton Correctional Facility on August 9, 2019.

Holland, who is behind bars for the 2015 slayings of employees at a Mars Hill supermarket and a Marathon gas station, allegedly stabbed Baggett 10 times including in the arm, chest, and buttocks in the attack.

He appeared in Madison Circuit Court this week where he rejected a deal in which he would have pleaded guilty and received a third sentence of life without the possibility of parole. Instead, he vowed to kill again if he's not given a death penalty.

'I will continue to drop bodies until you give me the death penalty,' Holland told the court, according to Madison County prosecutor Rodney Cummings.

Holland's attorney Bryan Williams confirmed Holland made the request to the court against his advice and said he believes his client is 'serious' about his request.

'In 27 years as a defense attorney I've never had that happen before,' he said. 'Without question, he was serious about the request.'

Judge Andrew Hopper said he would consider Holland's request for the death penalty but is reluctant to pursue it because he doesn't want to waste taxpayer money.

'I don't want to spend the county's money,' he said. 'If there is no trial it would cost about $50,000. A trial and the appeals could cost $750,000.

'It's not an appropriate way to spend taxpayer dollars.'

Cummings said Holland will be segregated from other inmates for another year before being returned to the general population.

“I have contacted the prosecutor in LaPorte County of a potential problem and am writing to the Department of Correction for them to exercise reasonable caution to prevent his (Holland) access to other inmates, nurses, and correctional officers,” Cummings said.

A woman who thought her boyfriend was cheating on her allegedly set his mum's house on fire after sending him a threatening text.

Abbieana Williams, 21, allegedly sent the message to her boyfriend on September 3, minutes before a fire broke out at a property in Michigan, US, an affidavit by Lansing Police Detective Teresa Mironiuk claims.

The boyfriend’s mother, Melissa Westen, 53, and Westen’s grandchildren, Aston Griffin, 8, and Jesse Kline IV, 4 died in the fire.

She allegedly texted her boyfriend, "I’m outside your mom's house … I hope your mom likes being burned alive," but has denied her involvement in the Elizabeth Street fire.

Police have arrested Williams on suspicion of killing all three victims and a witness reportedly told police she dropped her off near that address that night, shortly before 11:30pm.

Williams arrest affidavit states the friend told someone "I hope your mama likes burning alive," before getting out of the car.

The boyfriend's mum who died in the fire

She was allegedly mad at her boyfriend because she thought he was cheating on her, and said she planned to throw a rock through the window, the friend said.

A neighbour’s surveillance video recorded a glass shattering sound at 11:24pm, and captured a woman a minute later walking around near the property for 13 minutes.

Williams allegedly asked to borrow a lighter from a neighbour and was seen heading toward Westen’s home.

Minutes later, the Lansing Fire Department attended the property, which was engulfed in flames.

Lansing Police Chief Daryl Green said: "This arson was a despicable act of violence and my heart goes out to the victims and their family.

"I’m comforted in knowing that LPD and LFD intentionally investigated this dynamic crime and that our public safety collaboration was able to quickly bring a very dangerous alleged suspect into custody."

Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Saturday expressed disappointment over the conduct of the ongoing governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission in the state.

Obaseki while speaking with journalists after casting his vote at Polling Unit 19, Ward 4, Oredo Local Government Area, said he stayed for over one and half hour on the queue because the card reader was slow.

The governor said he expected better planning by the electoral commission.

“I expected that INEC would have prepared better for this election. I waited for one and half hour on the queue before exercising my franchise, it’s a bit disappointing.

“Giving that this is a sole day election, I expected better planning for this election. Card readers were very slow and that’s the situation everywhere.”

Edo Decides 2020: Bamgbose reports Tinubu, Oshiomhole to US over Wike’s incarceration

on
 September 19, 2020

Olusegun Bamgbose, Esq., National Coordinator, Concerned Advocates for Good Governance, CAGG, has dragged the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu and former National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole to the US over the incarceration of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State in Edo State.

DAILY POST reported last night that the PDP claimed that the hotel where Governor Wike is lodging in Benin, the capital of Edo State, was surrounded by over 300 policemen.

The allegation was made by the party’s chairman in Rivers state, Akawor Desmond.

Wike is in the state to monitor the polls, as he was appointed Chairman of the PDP National Campaign Council for the Edo Governorship election, a position Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State holds for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Rivers State Governor, Wike’s movement has reportedly been restricted to his hotel room in Edo State.

And in his letter to the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, Bamgbose, a senior lawyer, said, “We are convinced that this unlawful restriction of Wike’s movement could have been masterminded by Oshiomhole, who was recently slammed with US Visa ban and Bola Tinubu, who recently has shown untoward aggressiveness in winning the election at all cost.

“Your immediate intervention is required to save the situation. The Nigeria Police has not issued any information to justify Wike’s incarceration. It’s obvious that the duo, Tinubu and Oshiomhole have plans to rig the election at all cost in favour of the APC governorship candidate.

“Governor Wike has the constitutional right of movement, which has been restricted by IGP, very likely via the instruction or knowledge of the Presidency.

“This is nothing but impunity of the highest order. We cannot continue like this in Nigeria. We covet your immediate intervention to get Governor Wike out of unlawful imprisonment. We shall appreciate this enormously.”

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, through Crusoe Osagie, his Special Adviser, has cried out that “there is an ongoing deliberate election manipulation in areas where he has strongholds.

Obaseki is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the incumbent Governor of Edo State.
According to him: “Suddenly, card readers are not working in areas where Governor Godwin Obaseki is very popular.

“Voters are being disenfranchised and we are constrained to say that this is sabotage,” Osagie said in a statement to DAILY POST on Saturday during the polls.

“Specifically, in Oredo Ward 1, Unit 20 and other places where the Governor is clearly popular, the card readers are not working.

A schoolgirl has died after allegedly being beaten by her teacher for failing to answer two maths questions correctly.

The 10-year-old girl, identified by her surname Zhang, was a student at a primary school in the city of Guangyuan, central China.

According to the Xinhua News Agency, the teacher, identified by the surname Wang, beat the girl on September 10.

Zhang was beaten on her palms four times and ordered to kneel for four minutes, state-owned newspaper China Daily reports.

Feeling dizzy, she was sent to hospital by her grandmother and the teacher and was pronounced dead later that day at 3.30pm.

She also had her ears pulled and her head beaten, according to the Oriental Daily.

Medical experts found no wounds and an investigation into her death is under way.

The Cangxi county government has set up a task force and the teacher has been suspended from work, along with the school’s principal.

The victim’s grandmother told local media that she had a twin sister who was in the same class. She said Zhang looked close to fainting during the beating.

The grandmother also mentioned that Zhang was scared of her maths teacher, who she claimed often gave corporal punishment to students.

The corps member is observing her primary assignment at the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

The pastors, identified as Austin Emmanuel and Peter Davies, are currently being detained at the State Criminal and Investigation and Intelligence Department, Port Harcourt.

Emmanuel reportedly invited the victim to his house for an indoor birthday party and in the course of the celebration, he was later joined by Davies.

It was gathered that the suspects offered to pray for the victim and in the middle of the prayer, they applied a-yet-to-be-identified liquid on her face which made her unconscious.

Speaking with journalists, the corps member said she experienced pains in her private parts after regaining consciousness.

She said, “Actually, it was after I regained consciousness that I was feeling pain in my vagina. I told my mum and she reported to the police and they said that they should take me to doctors without borders for checkup. I found out that I was fingered according to the report and saw bruises seen all over my body.”

Meanwhile, parents of the victim, Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Bonko called on the Rivers State Police Command not to allow the accused persons go scot free to serve as a deterrent to other persons.

The father of the girl said he had approached the International Federation of Women Lawyers in the state to ensure the prosecution of the case.

“When I saw her, she was not in her senses. I started asking questions. Then they told me that they have arrested the suspects. I saw the suspects and they told me what happened.

“We took her to a psychiatric hospital. They tested her and did everything. Wherever we went, the NYSC followed us on the matter. An NYSC official reported the issue to the headquarters. If we allow this matter to die, they will do the same thing to other female corps members. That is why I decided to come to FIDA,” he explained.

The state Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan, said the matter was under investigation.

“Yes, we refer to this issue, but the matter has not reached my desk. I believe it is still under investigation,” Mukan stated.

Parents, teachers protest, demand resumption of schools in Kwara

 September 19, 2020
[Image: strike.jpg]

Parents and teachers of private schools in Kwara State, on Friday stormed the secretariat of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, demanding the resumption of academic activities.

The protesters carried placards with inscriptions such as, “Open our schools for students, ”children are hawking around the streets rather than schooling, ”teachers are suffering, ”out of school pupils are in football viewing centres, markets and parties.”

The protesters noted that many states are resuming on September 21, 2020, lamenting with dismay that the Kwara state government is not saying anything about schools’ resumption in the state.

They said, “parties are everywhere, hotels, businesses have resumed, markets are running, children are following parents to churches and mosques.”

Dr Abdulrahman Adetunji, chairman of the association, who addressed the aggrieved protesters, appealed to them to be patient.

He said the State Commissioner for Education, has assured the association that the state government was working on schools’ resumption in the state.

Dr Adetunji said private schools were ready for resumption as necessary COVID-19 safety protocols have been put in place by all private schools, including social distancing, hand washing and provision of hand sanitizers among others.

Edo 2020: Atiku Knocks Buhari Over Police Siege On Wike
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:Atiku Abubakar, former vice president, has reacted to the police siege on Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, who is currently in Edo State.

Mr Wike, according to his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was barred from leaving a hotel he lodged in at the state capital, Benin City.

He is the national campaign chairman of the state ruling party on whose platform Godwin Obaseki, the state governor is seeking a second term in office.

His major challenger, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, is of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and enjoys the support of erstwhile national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole.

While leaders of the PDP are said to be under police siege, leaders of the APC are reportedly moving around freely despite restrictions on vehicular moment. TODAY POLITICS as at press has not independently verified the claim.

“A promise of free & fair election cannot be mere lip service. It’s a commitment & should be demonstrated by way of equal access & restriction to every stakeholder,” Mr Abubakar said in a Friday evening tweet.

“Blockading the hotel of @OfficialPDPNig governors in the eve of the Edo election isn’t a good way to show fairness,” the opposition candidate in the last presidential election added.

He is referring to the assertion of President Muhammadu Buhari who promised free, fair and credible election during the exercise tomorrow.

Visa Ban: Don’t Disrespect Nigeria, FG Tells US, UK
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 09-19-2020, 09:51 AM - No Replies

Quote:The Federal Government has frowned on the statements issued by the United States and the United Kingdom on the governorship elections holding in Edo State on Saturday (today) and Ondo State on October 10.

It also expressed concern over the visa restrictions imposed by the US on unnamed politicians for alleged involvement in electoral violence during the Kogi and Bayelsa states governorship polls.

Both US and the UK had vowed sanctions on anyone who perpetrated violence during the Edo and Ondo elections, including imposing visa restrictions and blocking them from accessing their assets and prosecuting them under international law.

But reacting to the comments of its western allies on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement stated that it had taken note of their concerns regarding the elections in Edo and Ondo.

The government explained that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has continually urged all parties and contestants to peacefully conduct themselves before, during, and after the elections.

The statement signed by the MFA spokesman, Ferdinand Nwonye, added that Buhari also supported patriotic non-governmental initiatives such as the Abdusalami Abubakar Peace Committee.

Furthermore, it explained that there were ample provisions in the nation’s laws to sanction violators and perpetrators of electoral violence and fraud.

However, it admonished the UK and US to cooperate with the relevant agencies by providing them concrete evidence of observed misconduct “to allow our laws and regulations to take their course.”

The statement added, “It would be considered disrespectful of the sovereignty of Nigeria for any outside authority to sit in judgment over the conduct of our citizens and apply punitive measures such as visa restriction, unilaterally.”

The FG further highlighted that the responsibility for the conduct of elections in Nigeria solely resides with the Independent National Electoral Commission and State Independent Electoral Commissions.

“The Federal Government, and especially the President, is committed to providing all necessary logistic, financial, and security support to the electoral process.

“While we appreciate the support and encouragement of our international partners such as the European Union, we urge our equally valued partners such as the UK and US to cooperate with our relevant agencies by providing them whatever concrete evidence of observed misconduct to allow our laws and regulations to take their course,” the government stated.

Finally, the government expressed solidarity with the American government and people as regards their forthcoming election “which we hope will be free from interference and violence.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY 19TH SEPTEMBER.

BE CONSCIOUS OF YOUR LIFE IN CHRIST.

Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17).

When you read in the verse above, “…as he is, so are we in this world,” it’s not talking about us being like Jesus before He died, but the resurrected Jesus with eternal life. We have the same life with Him now. The Bible says, “He that hath the Son hath life…” (1 John 5:12). If you have Jesus, you have eternal life—the God-life; it’s not the biological life with which you were born of your parents.

That’s why Jesus said, “...Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). And when He said your biological life can’t see the Kingdom of God, He wasn’t talking about just going to Heaven; He was talking about the reality of the Kingdom of God; the dominion of God in the world; the life and nature of God experienced in this world.

When you’re born again, you experience the kingdom of God now in this life; it becomes your everyday experience; your everyday walk. This is what Christianity is. Christ is literally alive in you; you’re inseparably one with Him. 1 Corinthians 6:17 says, “But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.”

Having become so mingled with the Lord in one spirit, how could you be bothered about viruses, bacteria, germs or anything that ravages the world? This is why John wants you to know what you have. He says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life…” (1 John 5:13).

When you understand who you are in Christ, you’d realise it’s impossible for you to be sick. Once you recognise and become conscious of your life in Him, you have nothing to fear in this world, because you’re indestructible. What a life He’s given us! Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

I have the wondrous, incorruptible, imperishable, miracle-life of God in me. I’m an associate of the God-kind! The very essence of divinity is at work in me, and that divine life surges through my being, repelling sickness, disease, infirmity, death, poverty, and everything that’s inconsistent with the provisions of the Gospel of Christ. I’m invincible, indestructible and impregnable. Hallelujah!

#TALKINGSESSION

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Precious Holy Spirit, I acknowledge Your presence in my life. You’re the Shepherd of my soul; the One who guides me in the perfect will of God.

Thank You for bringing me into my glorious inheritance in Christ Jesus. By You, I possess and enjoy my inheritance today and always.

Your wisdom is functioning in me, and I am excelling in good judgment, having the right ideas, and making the right decisions always.

I am propelled by wisdom to say and do the right thing, at the right time, for the right purpose, for Your glory.

I’m in God’s place for my life, and He has made all grace abound towards me, and I am sufficient in His sufficiency, blessed and prosperous, fruitful in every good work.

I am the symbol, and the epitome of God’s grace; His blessings are evident and manifest in my life! I magnify the Lord who, not only has blessed me but has also made me a channel of blessing. Hallelujah!

I live as an heir of God and a joint-heir with Christ; the whole world is mine. I have access to great wealth; the abundance of the sea has been converted to me.

Your glory fills my life, Irrespective of the circumstances, I ’m full of joy twenty-four hours a day, for the joy of the Lord is my strength!

I’ve been brought into a life of rest, with joy unspeakable and full of glory. The Lord continually fills my mouth with laughter and joy in the Holy Ghost! Glory to His Name forever!

God bless you

Boko Haram are now recruiting our children - Governor Zulum cries out

Governor Babagana Zulum has raised an alarm of children being recruited into the Boko Haram terrorist group.

The Governor said this while receiving a committee of members of the House Of Representatives at his office in Maiduguri, Borno State capital.

Zulum who linked the recruitment of kids into the terrorist group to the high rate of unemployment in the state, also revealed that there are more than 700,000 Internally Displaced Persons in Monguno and another 400,000 in Gamboru Ngala without access to their farmlands.

He said;

Quote:"The only solution we have now is to ensure the safe return of our people to their homes in a dignified manner. If nothing is done believe me sincerely we shall face a very serious challenge even more than what we are facing now.

“This is because right now the insurgents are recruiting many of our children into the sect because of the increasing unemployment rate."

The Borno state government suggested that the solution to this problem is to shift from short term Humanitarian support to longer-term development and sustainable solution with the safe return of internally displaced persons to their communities.

Kenyan woman confesses to intentionally infecting many men with HIV because they don't want to use protection

A Kenyan woman, Jackline Njoki Mwangi has revealed that she knowingly infected men with HIV to punish them for not using protection.

Mwangi, also known as Kiki wa Ng’endo, was first diagnosed with HIV as a teenager after sleeping with men for money to take care of herself and her nephew. This was after her mother left her and her sister in the care of their aunt to go and work in the United States.

The 36-year-old, who made the startling revelation on Thursday September 17, in an interview with Kenya's online news portal, TUKO, justified her action saying she picked the disease from an infected person who also did not care to warn her.

Mwangi said it was her sexual partners’ responsibilities to protect themselves and not hers.

"At the end of the day, I can not be your keeper. You know you do not know me. I am not related to you yet you want to have sex with me, why don't you wear a condom or take a test with me if I am comfortable and if I am not, ask me to wear a condon?" she posed.

Kiki further revealed she decided to go public with her status because she wanted men to stop approaching her for sex after she developed complications in her private parts.

According to her, the condition has made her lose interest in sex after 18 years of selling her body to sexually hungry men for money.

She also wanted to warn men against sleeping with every woman they come across, create awareness and ask her family to stop insulting her every other time.

She blamed her woes on her mother who she claimed despised and mistreated her after she left the country to work in the US.

According to Kiki, her mother would send money to their aunt but she never took care of them and when their mother learned of her new escapades, she mistreated her till date.

She had to drop out of high school and when her uncle tried talking her into going back to school, that was when she tested positive for HIV.

“It was heartbreaking, I stayed without taking medication but was just pushing on with life. At some point I went upcountry and came back to Nairobi and that was when I attempted suicide,” she said.

Kiki now decries being abandoned by both her family and friends who know about her status. The stigmatisation she faced has left her depressed and emotionally drained.

Missing 17-year-old girl found in hotel with two boys

A Nigerian lady has narrated how a 17-year-old girl who was declared missing by her parents, was found in a hotel with two boys.

According to Annastecia Mary Lyon, the teenager was enrolled as a student in her makeup studio by her family. However she "disappeared" without telling anyone, an incident that to Mary being assaulted and the detention of some of the girls in her studio.

She wrote;

Quote:Yo!! Nancy Ethelle Uchenna Was my best girlfriend of more than 10years. Right from our high school days. Her parents knew me and mine knew her.

Last month being August, uchenna and her mom came to my Makeup studio to enroll their 2 daughters for skill acquisition. 1 about 24 and the other 17. A week later, the 24year old went back to nursing school leaving her 17 year old still coming for her training from home daily. Last week Monday being 7th of September, I was informed to send Lemachi home once is 4pm. I instructed same to my workers. On the 10th of Sept. Unlike how we usually remind Lemachi is 4pm and time to go, she in turn was the one who checked her time and said, oh is 4, let me go home.

Was told she crossed the road and boarded a bus as usual. It started raining around 6:30pm we were stalked at the studio. By 8pm, a call came through that Lemachi wasn't home yet, we were surprised. She doesn't own a phone, so no way to contact her. I was worried, my girls told me that Lemachi reminded them of the time unlike her, so they suspect her must have intentionally gone to meet someone.

We still stayed calm till 10pm, I call Uchenna to ask if she was back, but she said no. Uchenna was sounding all relaxed. I tried knowing why and she said she is sure her sister has gone to see man. That #Lemachi comes home from school as late as 11pm* *and that is the reason they denialed her phone.

She said "if we have given Lemachi phone, she will start spending nights". I was surprised. An ss2 student, return home by 11pm. Wawu. So why wasn't I told all these earlier? I still kept calm. 12am, 2am, Lemachi wasn't home.

The next morning, her parents and sister came to my studio for questioning, then I heard, that someone comes around the street to look for Lemachi, and another too. I even heard that she gisted them that a young man gave her 2000 naira 2 days to the questioning day. We all began suspecting the guy that gave 2k, maybe Lemachi followed him home. I went to the police station with Lemachi's mother and sister to report. They sent a message across and told us to wait.

We went home waiting and hoping she returned. That faithful Friday passed. On Saturday, we all came out, fasting and praying For Lemachi to return. Around noon, Police (Tiger sqaud) came to pick I and my girls up.

Ethel Nancy Uchenna watched these men beat me up, she couldn't tell them that Mary is not feeling well. A girl I called my best friend. Wawu. We got to the station and was interviewed, I and one of my girls was set free, that we had nothing related to offer. They held 2 of my girls. One because she identified a young man that came around to look for Lemachi, the second because Lemachi called the same young man with her phone. Both were detained. I was hospitalized, the stress and beatings..hmm

On Sunday, my mom and my assistant's mom went in for bail for the girls. They police only released my assistant. They said the other one will be in cell until she provides the young man she identified. We pleaded that the young man should be called that he will come out (this because I was told he stopped coming when we was told Lemachi's age).

But they refused, saying he will flee. Sunday passed. Monday morning, my mom was busy. I had to get out from the hospital, told doctor I was fine. I was discharged and I ordered uber, stopped by and bought food, went to give my remaining girl in cell as much as find out the way forward.

Got home on Monday, Around 8pm. I received a call from Lemachi's father. Asking me why I took food to the girl in cell. He threatened to shoot me, kill me if I dare take food to the girl in cell again. Haba! How mean can someone be? Even food? A person's fundamental right. He went further to tell my mom that she and her daughter (me) knows where her child is and should provide her. Imagine?

On Tuesday, I still went with my mom to give food to my girl. Had to call the girls father, he entered night bus to owerri from Lagos last night. A sick man. Today, being Wednesday, a Lawyer was brought for the girls case but another news surfaced. The girl after a week she left for home was found.

#The young girl was found with 2 boys. We passed through all that for a 17year old girl who went to enjoy her life. Lodged in hotels and had mad fun, with 2 guys oo. Her parents knew the kind of daughter they have, they just wanted to release their wickedness on some persons. And they succeeded.

We saw the girl today, looking all beautiful and glowed up, they even bought her new pairs of footwear. *Then the mom had the guts to ask the police why they are releasing my girl?* really? This family is mean. So they should still keep my girl there even after your daughter is back? How evil.

The police told her how she was supposed to apologise to my girl who was detained for no reason for days.
She didn't say sorry. She didn't show any remorse. We left with the police apologising to us... so much wickedness. How do this people want to be served please?

Should I talk about the money we lost during these days. Our 12th of September bride, I have it out to an artist. 13th of September bride, I gave it out. All the other 13th of September bookings, we all gave out. 14th and 15th, clients we missed. The expenses to bail the girls, the health expenses. The mental stress. My business name etc.
Wawu.

Man charged with killing and dismembering his girlfriend in Kentucky

A Kentucky man has been charged in connection with the gruesome murder of his girlfriend who was dismembered before her body parts were hauled in suitcases all the way to south suburban Markham.

Police said Melvin Martin Jr., 30, who was initially charged as a fugitive took his girlfriend’s remains on a Greyhound bus to visit family in Markham, traveling more than five hours with the body parts to the Chicago Greyhound station at 630 W. Harrison St.

Markham spokesman, Michael Taylor said in a statement that Martin was arrested on Monday at the Markham Public Library after curious family members made the discovery.

The spokesman said some parts of the woman’s body were found in Illinois, while the other half was found in Kentucky.

'A severed head and other body parts were found in the bags, while police in Kentucky found the woman’s torso,' he said.

'Martin had been staying with family for about a week, and family members became curious after he asked them on at least two occasions to purchase clothing for him despite arriving on a Greyhound bus in Chicago toting the bags'.

'Martin eventually moved the two bags to the home’s garage, and the family made the discovery after Martin had left for the library,' Taylor added.

Detectives believe the girlfriend was killed at least 30 days ago with Markham Police Chief Terry White saying the woman’s death could be the result of a domestic dispute that occurred about a month ago.

When asked by police why he brought his girlfriend’s remains to Illinois, Martin Jr. delivered a shocking reply.

“He indicated that, as grotesque as it might sound, that he still wanted to be with at least part of her,” said Markham police Chief.

Cheer' star, Jerry Harris, 21, charged with producing child pornography after admitting he had 'anal and oral sex' with a 15-year-old boy

Jerry Harris, one of the stars of the Netflix documentary series Cheer, has been arrested and charged with producing child pornography.

The American TV personality, 21, was arrested on Thursday morning, September 17, and charged with one count of producing child pornography, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois said.

The arrest comes three days after 14-year-old twin boys, Charlie and Sam, filed a lawsuit alleging he sent them sexually explicit photos of himself and cornered one of them in a bathroom and begged for oral sex when they were 13 years old.

Harris admitted during an interview after FBI agents raided his home on Monday that he had asked one of the twins to send him photographs and videos of his penis and buttocks on Snapchat. He said he repeatedly asked one of them between December 2018 and March of this year for such photographs and videos.

He also admitted to agents that he solicited and received explicit messages on Snapchat from at least 10 to 15 individuals he knew were minors, had anal/oral sex with a 15-year-old at a cheerleading competition in 2019, and paid a 17-year-old money in exchange for nude photos.

During Thursday's court appearance, prosecutors said Harris is a danger to the community and asked that he should be held without bond.

He remains in custody pending a detention hearing on Monday morning where he is expected to appear in person.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said the crime is punishable by a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 30 years in prison if Harris is found guilty.

A man who allegedly defrauded a US-based Nigerian woman has been taken into custody.

Sylvester Ehiarinmian, 43, made love advances to Mary Ope, 40, who is married with children, promising to marry her, Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu said.

The married mother naively fell into the suspect’s scam net, police said, and he allegedly swindled several millions of Naira and landed properties out of her.

The victim, who owns a farm in the FCT, Abuja, reportedly had the intention of setting up other businesses in Nigeria and she was introduced to Ehiarinmian as someone capable of providing security to and from her farm.

They got in touch and the suspect was said to have made a love advance to her, with a promise to marry her, even though she claims he was aware she was married. She claims she "hypnotically" fell in love with the suspect who dispossessed her of both cash and property .

AIG Ahmed revealed that the suspect obtained the sum of $15000 dollars from her to procure visa for the victim’s sister, another $10,000 he proposed to purchase carpets for an office they both agreed to operate and N40 million for the establishment of a medical laboratory.

When the scale fell off her eyes, Mary petitioned the Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, to fish out the suspect.

Ehiarinmian was arrested and the following items, belonging to the victim, were recovered: two Toyota Sienna Space buses (05/07 models) marked RBC 564 BB and YAB 101AZ; two unregistered Toyota Sienna Space buses (05/07 models); Toyota Highlander (01 model), with Registration No. YAB 768 SD; bunch of keys of a storey building comprising two bedroom flats and two self contained apartments.

Also recovered were one bedroom flats with boy quarters in Apo Resettlement Abuja; documents in respect of a ‘900sqm land, located in Wasa District, Abuja along with Certificate of Occupancy (C of O); documents of a 900sqm land, situated in Angwan Tiv area of Apo Resettlement Area, Abuja; a 900kVA generating set and nine copies of Deeds of Assignments for a property in Apo, Abuja.

Yet to be recovered from him are a Mikano Generating set, two duplexes in South Africa, the sum of $15,000 (obtained for the victim’s sister's visa), $10,000 (for purchase of office carpets) and N40 million he collected from her for the establishment of a medical laboratory.

When questioned, Ehiarinmian denied the allegation, saying: "I did not defraud her. She is my girlfriend. We had a misunderstanding and she boasted that she had powerful people who would deal with me. Let us go to court, that is what I want."

Restive youths in Billiri thought we were not doing enough and attempted to attack the police station. We had to deploy our men there; the Area Commander had to speak to the youth as well as engage the stakeholders in the town to calm the situation.

Policemen were later deployed to Cham, where the suspect was arrested in a hotel, but he had sold the motorcycle at Laraban Lamurde.”the Commissioner said

The police chief also paraded a 21-year-old SS3 pupil, Babayo Yahaya, who was allegedly caught with 107 tramadol capsules and 59 sachets of Exole and N400,000 used to bribe the police.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER.

DON’T IGNORE THE URGE TO PRAY.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7).

As a Christian, it’s important that you know how to take the life that God has given you seriously, and how to respond spiritually when certain things happen around you. This is why prayer is important. When we pray, something happens. He never told us to pray in vain. Whenever you have that urge to pray, don’t ignore it.

Everyone who has the Holy Spirit would have the urge to pray from time to time, because He Himself is the Spirit of prayer. He teaches us to pray, and He prays through us. He stirs our hearts to pray and even puts words in our mouths with which to pray. As long as you’re living a Spirit-led life, you’ll always have the urge to pray. Otherwise, how do you resist the devil?

The devil is a spirit being; we don’t resist him with muscles or physical might. We don’t resist him with earthly things; we resist him with our faith. The Bible says resist the devil and he’ll flee (James 4:7); he has no option. He’s terrified of us because of the Name of Jesus.

When you come to understand the enormous power given you to paralyse Satan’s activities—whether in your life, the lives of your loved ones, your city or nation—you’d love to pray! Don’t sit idly by and watch the devil run rampage around you. Pray. Use the Name of Jesus against him.

As you fellowship with God in prayer, the Holy Spirit will show you things to pray about and how to pray. He’ll teach you how to handle matters in the realm of the spirit and prevail. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Thank you blessed Father, for the privilege of prayer and the blessing of praying in tongues. I’m responsive to the guidance and promptings of the Spirit in ensuring that through prayer, your will is established on earth as it is in Heaven, and your character and personality are manifested through me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

1 Corinthians 14:2 For he that speaketh in an [unknown] tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth [him]; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what [is] the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God.

#TALKINGSESSION

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the joy of being filled with the Holy Spirit and divinely transported into the higher realms of life, far removed from poverty, sickness, death, defeat, destruction, and failure.

The eyes of my understanding are enlightened, therefore, I see the invisible and I am powered to do the impossible.

I thank You for Your Word in my heart is as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I’ll preach it everywhere I go.

My words are anointed to produce life for everyone who listens, to the glory and praise of the Father. I am full of the Holy Ghost; my confessions of faith come to pass because my words are anointed to produce results.

There’s no hopeless situation I can’t change, for my faith is the victory that overcomes every adversity. Irrespective of what I hear, see or feel, my faith in Your Word prevails.

I walk in health, victory, prosperity, and success today.I am the seed of Abraham, and my life is for the glory of God.

This is my set time to experience the unprecedented favour and manifold blessings in every area of my life. I declare that all things are working together for my good because I love the Lord, and I’ve been called according to His purpose.

Everything I require for life and godliness has been delivered unto me, and I am enjoying life to the full, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you

Emefiele In Import Duty Scandal Against President Buhari’s Directive - Sahara R

CBN Governor, Emefiele, In Import Duty Scandal, Offers Waiver To Family Member Against President Buhari’s Directive

Quote:A top official of the apex bank accused Emefiele of padding his pockets through his cronies by sabotaging all policies of the Nigerian Government against food importation.

Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has recommended import duty of five per cent and levy waiver to Sonia Foods, a company owned by one of his relatives, Nnamdi Nnodebe, to import tomato concentrate for the next two years.

SaharaReporters gathered that the move by Emefiele was against the tomato sector policy of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

Buhari had in 2017 through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment banned the importation of tomato paste, powder or concentrate and increased the tariff on importation of tomato concentrate among others from five to 50 per cent in order to revive the tomato sector.

CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
According to operators, the value of imported tomato paste in Nigeria was about $170m and $50m spent on triple tomato concentrate.

“Increase in the tariff of the tomato concentrate and other concentrates (HS Code 2002.90.11.000) from five per cent to 50 per cent and additional levy of $1,500 per metric tons with the objective of increasing the current tariff from five per cent to 50 per cent (35 per cent +5 per cent+10 per cent) and an additional levy of US$1,500 metric ton. Restriction on the importation of tomato concentrates to the seaports to address abuse of ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation scheme (ETLS) and inclusion of tomato production and processing in the list of industries eligible for investment incentives administered by the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC),” documents seen by SaharaReporters read.

But in a letter to the Minister of Finance and National Planning, Emefiele asked for import duty of five per cent against 50 per cent approved by Buhari on tomato concentrate for Sonia Foods.

“The honourable minister is hereby to consider and approve the concessionary import duty of five per cent and waiver of levies of 35 per cent and $1500/ton on imported tomato concentrate for SONIA Foods Ltd and advise the Controller General of Customs and Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service accordingly. The request if granted will be for a two (2) year period to enable the company to produce enough tomato fruits to service its factories,” part of the letter seen by SaharaReporters read.

A top official of the apex bank accused Emefiele of padding his pockets through his cronies by sabotaging all policies of the Nigerian Government against food importation.

“While pretending to support agriculture, Emefiele is padding his pockets through his cronies by sabotaging the policies of the Federal Government against any food importation. He first started by giving exclusivity to his friends as sole importers of powdered milk into the country under the guise that they are investing in setting up cattle ranches. This has now resulted in explosive rise of powdered milk by more than 300 per cent.

“Thereafter, he gave another set of his business associates exclusive waiver to import thousands of tons of maize to curtail maize shortage without a single ton given to the Nigerian Poultry Association, without the knowledge of the Minister of Agriculture and the approval of the President. It was a very great embarrassment to President Buhari that he had to seriously scold the CBN governor during last weeks FEC meeting in the presence of all Ministers. He was said to have apologized profusely to the President with the promise not to repeat such act of economic sabotage.

“But the CBN Governor is still unrepentant as he has now moved to sabotage the Tomato Policy by recommending a duty reduction and levy waiver to allow his brother and owner of Sonia Foods to import tomato concentrate for the next two years after giving him N2bn to set up a tomato factory while still refusing to release funds to tomato farmers for this year’s tomato growing season.

“By so doing, he’s on one hand saying Nigeria will soon attain self sufficiency in tomato production going by the recent newspaper publication by the CBN and at the same time denying farmers funds for tomato production so that he and his brother can make big money importing tomato concentrate into the country.

“This attitude of his only serves to destroy all the measures the Buhari government is putting to food importation and make Nigerians grow enough food to feed itself,” the official said.

The blogger had in a report attributed the separation to domestic violence and alleged that the triplet sons may not have been fathered by Fani-Kayode as they were conceived through IVF and Chikwendu had demanded a DNA test.

In a letter signed by his lawyer, Mr. Adeola Adedipe, dated September 16, 2020, the former minister described the report as preposterous.

The letter titled, ‘Defamation of Chief Femi Fani-Kayode- Re: Femi Fani-Kayode and Precious Chikwendu Part Ways Over Alleged Domestic Violence’, stated that the allegations were spurious and maliciously engineered.

He denied allegations that he retrieved the car he bought for his estranged wife and had left her broke.

The letter further read, “Our client is aggrieved and has instructed us to draw your attention to these libelous breaches of his person and family. By this publication, our client has received denigrating phone calls and messages across the globe by virtue of which he now sufferers immeasurable loss of goodwill.

“However, he is inclined to draw a curtain over the wild and spurious claims if you retract the allegations on the same platform they were published and consequently apologise to him in two other national dailies.

“You are also advised to enter into negotiations with us for the sum of two billion naira only being a token amount for penitence. Please bear in mind that you have 14 days from receipt of this letter to comply with the highlighted mitigating measures, the failure of which will leave our client with no preferred alternative than to seek redress in court.”

Former billionaire co-founder of airport retail giant Duty Free Shoppers has given away all of his massive wealth and is now broke, but insists he couldn't be happier.

Charles 'Chuck' Feeney, 89, raked in billions with the creation of Duty Free Shoppers with Robert Miller but wanted to die without any money.

The philanthropist was famous for his promise to give all his money away to charitable causes, a dream that was fulfilled this year in September after donating more than $8billion to charities, universities, and foundations through his organization Atlantic Philanthropies.

He gave $3.7billion to education, including nearly $1billion to his alma mater Cornell, more than $870million to human rights and social change including $62million in grants to abolish the death penalty in the US and $76million for grassroots campaigns supporting the passage of Obamacare, according to Forbes.

Without thugs, APC will be beaten silly in Edo - Governor Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike has commented on the upcoming governorship election in Edo state.

The Rivers state Governor in an interview on African Independent Television (AIT) on Thursday September 17, alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is hoping to win the election by manipulating the result.

Wike who is also the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign council on Edo governorship election, stated that the APC "will be beaten silly in the governorship election" if there are no thugs spearheading electoral malpractices.

He said;

Quote:“The IG has said they will not give room to any thugs, to any miscreants, and it is our prayer that is done. If that is done, APC will be beaten silly in this election. If what IG said is carried out, you will see that APC will not near – the only hope they have is to manipulate the security agencies.

“Remember what happened in my case and if you take the case of Rivers state, it was very clear, and the way I see APC going, the desperation is so much and the only hope APC has today is to use security agents, is to manipulate the process.

“Our own business is to let our people know, if you know the police are [compromised], we will not allow it. We want to believe in them but however, don’t slip, don’t slip, make sure you follow them bumper to bumper.

“Make sure you monitor what is happening. Let one policeman tell you that after they have declared results in this unit, that you cannot as an agent, follow that result to the collation centre. That is not correct.

“In some cases, you see security agents coming to even beat the agents of the opposition party. It is not something that anyone will come and tell me that you have assured me that nothing will happen.”

On governance in Edo state, Wike said;

Quote:“Everybody knows, go to Edo, they don’t do publicity. They do their thing quietly. It may be different from ours.

“Last time I went to Ogbemudia stadium, it was nothing to write home about, but go and see Ogbemudia stadium today. He has built all the high courts, he showed me.”

Hosa Wells Okunbo: Obaseki Has Me, Ize-Iyamu, Oshiomhole To Face

Quote:Edo-born Oil magnate, Captain Hosa Wells Okunbo has opened up on his expectations for Saturday's Governorship election taking place in Edo State.

Speaking with Reuben Abati on Arise TV in a program monitored by Igbere TV, the billionaire said Governor Godwin Obaseki has created three opponents for himself in his quest for a second term.

The renowned philanthropist specifically mentioned himself, Adams Oshiomhole, former APC national chairman and Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the party's guber candidate.

The business tycoon, who recently endorsed Ize-Iyamu, described the Obaseki-led administration as “monstrous” and “draconian.”

“Obaseki on his own created three candidates for himself one candidate real and two imaginary candidates.
Instead of him to concentrate and face the candidate he was supposed to face he made Adams Oshiomhole and Captain Hosa his opponents.”

Captain Hosa further berated Obaseki for allegedly demarketing Adams Oshiomhole, who was his benefactor, as APC national chairman.

He lamented how Governor Obaseki allegedly deployed ethnic sentiments on the Benin people against Oshiomhole.

“Same people who gave Adams the name 'Osho Baba' is the one he has decided to demarket”, the Edo-born billionaire alleged.

Captain Hosa, however, said the market women and the masses are solidly behind Oshiomhole.

He claims Oshomhole’s performance as governor, is clear for the masses and downtrodden to see.

“Of a fact Obaseki’s hatred to see success might be his albatross in the forthcoming election.

*The Governor has fought with every of his benefactor and made concerted efforts to rubbish and ridicule the years of labour these benefactors have put into the society.

“Obaseki might not escape judgement on September 19th as his atrocities are very visible to Edo Residents.”

El-rufai: Online Petition For EU, UK Travel Ban Nears 25,000 Signatures Target
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 09-17-2020, 07:02 PM - No Replies

Quote:An online petition calling on the United Kingdom and the European Union to place a travel ban on Kaduna State governor Nasir El-rufai has passed 22,000 signatures of the targetted 25,000 signatures.

The petition on change.org seeks the UK and UN action against El-rufai for allegedly promoting genocide and religious and political intolerance.

“Nasir El-Rufai is a threat to the peace and security of Nigeria for many reasons,” Reno Omokri, a former Presidential aide, who started the petition said.

“There has been an intense escalation of the killings of mostly Christians in Kaduna, and on August 25, 2020, suspected herdsmen abducted seven schoolchildren and their teacher from Prince Academy, in Kaduna. They have not been seen or heard of since then,” Omokri said.

The petition further reads: “On February 6, 2019, he threatened foreign observers, including observers from the EU and UK with death, warning that they would return in body bags should they intervene in Nigeria.

“On July 15, 2012, Nasir El-Rufai said, and I quote ‘We will write this for all to read. Anyone, soldier or not that kills the Fulani takes a loan repayable one day no matter how long it takes.’ This threat has been carried out in Southern Kaduna where there is an ongoing genocide of Christians under el-Rufai’s watch.”

Earlier in the week, the United Kingdom said it will seize assets and impose visa restriction on individuals that are caught rigging during the Edo and Ondo State governorship elections.

“As a friend and partner of Nigeria we are closely following the lead up to the off-cycle governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states scheduled for September 19 and October 10 respectively,” the British High Commission in Nigeria said in a statement.

“The UK takes a strong stand against election-related violence and, just as we did in the general election in 2019, will continue to take action against individuals we identify as being responsible for violence during the elections.

“This could include restrictions on their eligibility to travel to the UK, restrictions on access to UK based assets or prosecution under international law.”

The threat by the UK came a day after the United States said it has imposed a visa ban on some Nigerians culpable for rigging during the Kogi and Bayelsa State governorship elections in 2019.

The US in a statement by the secretary of state Mike Pompeo said the individuals have so far operated with impunity at the expense of the Nigerian people and have undermined democratic principles in Nigeria.

The UK said the Edo and Ondo State governorship elections are important, both as an essential element of effective governance within both states and an indicator of the strength of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) had last month invited El-Rufai to speak at its annual general conference but the association later withdrew the invitation amid several petitions against his invitation.

The governor has been accused of mismanaging the diversity of Kaduna State which has led to the killings of hundreds of persons mostly in Southern Kaduna.

Uganda police launch manhunt for 215 escaped prisoners after jailbreak

Authorities in Uganda have launched a manhunt to recapture more than 200 prisoners who escaped from jail after stealing weapons and fled to the north-eastern part of the country.

The jailbreak occurred on Wednesday afternoon, September 16, near the army barracks in the district of Moroto in northeast Uganda.

The country's prison commissioner, Johnson Byabashaija told AFP on Thursday September 16, that the inmates overpowered their guards and escaped with weapons in after a shootout.

"The prisoners seized guns from the armoury at a government prison in Moroto, about 460km from Kampala, before dashing for the cover of nearby mountains," said the commissioner.

"About 215 inmates are still on the run. Uganda's prison service, working with the police and the army with support from ground and air assets, have been deployed to rearrest the inmates," he said.

"There is concern that some guns are in the wrong hands, but these will be recaptured. We have enough forces on the ground and helicopters to track them. The public is advised to stay calm," said Byabashaija.

"One inmate was shot during the escape, three others were recaptured, but the rest are at large, having escaped towards Mount Moroto where our operation is focusing at the moment."

Some of the inmates had shed their bright yellow jumpsuits to avoid aerial detection and were on foot half-naked, prison spokesman Frank Baine added

Mr.Baine described the jailbreak as "one of the rarest cases of its kind in the history of Uganda's Prison Service".

A 31-year-old shopkeeper Tashume "Happy" Bambore was on Thursday, September 17, sentenced to life in prison for raping a 5-year-old girl who went to his store to buy ice lollies and biscuits in Phakamisa, outside King William's Town. Eastern Cape.

Police spokesperson Captain Khaya Tonjeni, said Bambore lured the girl into a bedroom where he raped her on 11 March last year.

"A 36-year-old customer entered the shop and saw Bambore appearing from the bedroom while pulling up his pants. The 5-year-old also appeared from the bedroom with him," said Tonjeni.

"The customer then immediately called a 29-year-old fellow Phakamisa resident and they took the child to her mother. The child then disclosed to her mother what had occurred," National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Anelisa Ngcakani said.

State advocate Linda Jekwa asked the Eastern Cape High Court in Bhisho to not deviate from the prescribed minimum sentence of life imprisonment for the rape.

"I'm requesting for the court to send out a strong message that such offences will not be tolerated and that the accused should be sentenced to life imprisonment."

Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, advocate Chanzelle de Kock, said: "I am pleased with the sentence as this will confirm the strong message from the courts that violence against women, and especially our children, will not be tolerated."

Eastern Cape police commissioner Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga added: "As a province we are concerned about regular reports of adult men forcing themselves on young children. We are grateful for the outcome of the good working relationship between our detectives, the courts and the prosecuting authority."

Quote:The Nigerian Army, on Wednesday, interred the remains of Lance Corporal Benjamin Collins, who was tortured to death by three senior officers at the Mogadishu Barracks, Abuja, in 2017.

Collins was buried with full military honours at the Guards Brigade cemetery along Kubwa Expressway by soldiers from the Army Headquarters Garrison Battalion.

The funeral was attended by his mother, Mrs Kate Dioma; uncle, Justice Daniel Isiagor of the Federal High Court; lawyer, Dr Johnson Oyewole; and representatives of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai.

The national flag was presented to the deceased’s mother by Lt. Col. S. Shuaibu on behalf of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

Oyewole, who fought to ensure justice for the deceased, thanked the COAS and the Army Headquarters Garrison Battalion for approving the funeral.

A general court martial had in February sentenced Majors Akeem Oseni and Ogbemudia Osawe, and Second Lieutenant Nuhu Dogary to 10 years’ imprisonment for torturing Collins to death.

The officers were found guilty of manslaughter by the GMC comprised of the President, Brig. Gen. G. Umelo; Brig. Gen. S. Aliyu; Brig. Gen, A. Edet; Brig. N. Mohammed; and Cols. K. Ndamadu, T. Agbor, and I. Tanko.

The convicts were said to have moved Collins from a guardroom at Mogadishu Barracks to a bush near the Ihejirika Quarters along the Abuja-Nyanya Expressway, where he was assaulted while in handcuffs and leg chains.

Collins, who hailed from Rivers State, died after the assault, which took place on February 23, 2017, and his corpse was deposited in Asokoro General Hospital morgue.

After the incident, the officers reported to their superiors that Collins, who was held for over two years for travelling to Lagos to see his sick aunt without official permission, had escaped from custody.

Quote:She’s a liar and a gold-digger — La Scatter responds to sexual molestation allegations

Popular nightlife King, Temidayo Lucky Kafaru aka La Scatter, has revealed his estranged wife, Diana Faith Logico aka Ododo Yankee Dudu, isn’t a saint at all.
.
In a report by Michael Soyebo of Sahara Weekly, Temidayo reveals his estranged wife is allegedly a gold-digger , an escort and a violent woman who has assaulted him on several occasions . He went ahead to state that he was trapped into a forced marriage by his wife and his mother-in-law, Edwina Logico .
.
The report said that theduo met in March 2019, and four weeks later , Diana’s mother informed him that her daughter was pregnant. So in a bid to avoid shame despite warnings he received from people that she was an escort, he went ahead to marry her in a poised wedding ceremony in August, of which he still has debts uncleared as a result of the event .
.
It is also said that during their honeymoon in Ghana, Diana slapped her husband three times over a minor argument . Temidayo reveals that his mother-in-law is the mastermind behind Diana’s behavior to the extent that he was manipulated to sign an agreement with extremely ridiculous demands that he must fulfill to enable them live their affluent lifestyle .
.
Temidayo denied the sexual molestation allegations leveled against him saying it was a set-up by Diana and her mother . He said he had been beaten by thugs allegedly hired by Edwina and arrested by the police on different occasions
However, he further revealed that he was deceived, thinking Diana and her mother were of Benin royalty. He noted that he has been ripped off everything he had by them . He reiterated that his estranged wife and mother-in-law were working tirelessly to bring him down.

Food Inflation Up By 108% Since 2015, Despite Billions On Agriculture
User Avatar Forum: Market Place
Posted by: Edoman - 09-17-2020, 12:16 PM - No Replies

Quote:Nigeria’s food inflation has more than doubled since August 2015, exactly 5 years after the Buhari Administration took charge of the Nigerian economy.

This was determined by comparing the composite index for food inflation rate in August 2020 versus same period in 2015. The difference is a whopping 108% increase in inflation rate, in just 5 years. Within this period, Nigeria’s exchange rate has been devalued by 49%.

Whilst the Nigerian economy has been ravaged by a very low oil price environment, since it fell from over $100 per barrel in 2014, most of the reasons for the increase in cost of living are partly attributed to some of the policies of the government.

Since 2015, the government has focused on a ‘grow-what-you-can-eat’ policy, pouring billions of naira into the agricultural sector. Since its inception in 2015, the Anchor Borrowers Programme (ABP), has received about N190billion disbursement from the CBN.

Another N622billion was lent through banks under the Commercial Agriculture Credit Scheme. Add the various grants, tax incentives, and concessions, that’s almost N2 trillion spent in the last 5 years on helping Nigeria to achieve food self-sufficiency.

Whilst modest successes have been recorded, the cost of staple food items remain high – galloping in each passing month. Since the border closure was announced in August 2019, the food inflation rate has risen every month, from 13.17% in August of 2019 to 16% last month. It is projected to hit 20% by the first quarter of 2021, when the effects of the increase in petrol and electricity prices are accounted for.

Nigerians have never had it this bad. Despite the good intentions of the government, things have not particularly turned out well. A common challenge in trying to solve a problem is not being able to manage what is outside of your control. In agriculture, a lot seem to be outside of the control of this government.

Yield per hectare for most farming is well below global standards, driving up the cost of whatever is left to be sold to Nigerians. Farmers also face insecurity, flooding, and sometimes famine affecting their ability to plant and harvest. Even after harvesting, supply chain challenges still persist, leaving farmers to contend with middlemen, transportation, and storage. The result is far less farm produce reaching the final consumer.

For items under its control, it still cannot determine the outcomes, and the causes and effects. Just last week, it announced the banning of maize, only to flip-flop after learning that poultry farmers lacked maize feeds to grow their chickens. It quickly granted licenses to four companies to import maize.

Thus, while the government attempts to manage what it can control such as banning of imports, denying access to forex, and of course border closure, it cannot solve all these problems with CBN funding and banning. They are structural, and require a better approach that is private sector driven, yet pragmatic. The government also needs to tell itself the truth; Nigeria cannot be self-sufficient by banning.

So long as we continue to avoid relying on data and objective reasoning, to balance the need for local agro-processing and imports to meet demand, food inflation will remain high and galloping. Who knows, by the time this administration’s tenure is up, we could be looking at a state of emergency driven by a full blown food crisis.

Governor El-Rufai signs new law to castrate and remove Fallopian tubes of convicted male and female rapists in Kaduna

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna has signed into law the new State Penal Code (Amendment) Law 2020, which stipulates surgical castration and removal of Fallopian tubes for any male or female found guilty of raping a child in the state.

Recall that the state House of Assembly recently amended Section 258 of the Penal Code Law No. 5 of Kaduna State 2017, with the following provisions

Quote:“Whoever commits rape of a child below the age of fourteen (14) years shall on conviction, be punished with Surgical Castration and death.

“Whoever has sexual intercourse with a male child below the age of fourteen years shall be punished with surgical castration and death.

“Where a female adult is convicted for the offence of rape of a child, the Court shall punish the accused with Bilateral Salpingectomy and death.

“Where the victim is above fourteen years, the Court shall on conviction sentence the accused with a punishment of surgical castration and life imprisonment.

“Where the convict is a child, the Court shall order as appropriate under the Children and Young Person Law Cap 26 Laws of Kaduna State 1991.

“Where the victim is a child, the Court shall in addition to the conviction, order that the convict be listed in the Sex Offenders Register to be published by the Attorney General.

“Where the Court is trying the offence of rape involving a child below the age of fourteen years, corroboration of a medical report shall be necessary.”

The governor received the amended penal code and signed it into law on Wednesday, September 16.

Following the alarming rate of rape cases in the state, the governor called for stiffer penalties for convicts, saying that they may assault more persons if they are sent to prison and released after completing their jail terms.

Quote:“In addition to life imprisonment or 21 years’ imprisonment, anyone convicted of rape will have his organ surgically removed so that even after he finishes his term, he will not be able to rape anyone again.

So long as the tool exists, there is the likelihood that he may go back to do it again. Most of the perpetrators are young people, so even after 21 years, they can come back and continue.”he said

UNICEF reacts as Kano court sentences 13-year-old boy to 10 years imprisonment for blasphemy

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has reacted to sentencing of 13-year-old Umar Farouq to 10 years in prison for blasphemy.

Umar was handed the jail sentence by Aliyu Kanu, the same judge who passed a death sentence on Kano musician Yahaya Sharif-Aminu for blasphemy, after being found guilty of using “disparaging language on Allah” during a disagreement with his friend.

Peter Hawkins, UNICEF representative in Nigeria who released a statement condemning the court sentence, insisted that it contradicts the United Nations convention on the rights of the child which Nigeria ratified in 1991. He also called on the Kano state government to urgently reverse the sentencing.

The statement read;

Quote:“The sentencing of this child –13-year-old Omar Farouk to 10 years in prison with menial labour is wrong.
“It also negates all core underlying principles of child rights and child justice that Nigeria and by implication, Kano State – has signed on to.

“The sentence is in contravention of the United Nations convention on the rights of the child, which Nigeria ratified in 1991. It is also a violation of the African charter on the rights and welfare of the child – which Nigeria ratified in 2001, and Nigeria’s Child Rights Act 2003, which domesticates Nigeria’s international obligations to protect children’s right to life, survival and development.”

Sagay Panel Accuses Malami Of Aborting High-profile Criminal Cases
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 09-17-2020, 08:35 AM - No Replies

Quote:Ade Adesomoju, Abuja

The Prof. Itse Sagay-led Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, on Wednesday, accused the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), of having well-known proclivity for aborting high-profile criminal cases in favour of major political and governmental figures.

The PACAC, in a statement signed by Sagay, and released by the Communications Unit of the committee, said this while reacting to the proposed bill for the amendment of the establishment Act of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

While arguing that the proposed amendment of the Act was part of “an ongoing very sinister and dangerous attempt to demolish the anti-corruption infrastructure of Nigeria and return it to the situation it was in during the dark days before 2015,” the panel urged Nigerians and the National Assembly to reject it.

Sagay added that those behind it “are the representatives of the corrupt establishment that brought this country to its knees and subjected us to humiliation as a result of an extremely negative reputation internationally.”

The controversial bill seeks to weaken the EFCC and its officials, and confer an enormous power of control of the anti-graft agency on the office of the AGF.

Although Sagay did not mention Malami as the sponsor of the controversial bill, he tackled the minister for what he described as his proclivity for aborting criminal cases in favour of major political and governmental figures.

He noted that the draft bill, which intended to repeal the EFCC Establishment Act, 2004, was being sponsored by those who were “too ashamed to put their names to the draft bill being circulated.”

Malami, whose memo to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), triggered the ongoing probe of the suspended acting Chairman of the EFCC, Mr Ibrahim Magu, by the Justice Ayo Salami-led panel over various allegations of corruption, abuse of office, and insubordination, has been linked to the controversial bill in the media.

The minister has neither denied nor confirmed the rumours.

Citing various provisions of the bill, Sagay said it would eliminate the anti-graft agency’s “freedom and autonomy” and replace it with “an entity under the complete control of the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General.”

He added that the proposed bill would effectively turn the commission into a department in the Federal Ministry of Justice.

The statement read in part, “With all the above established facts, the gravity of the proposed change becomes overwhelming.

“When in addition to all this, we recall the well-known proclivity of the attorney-general for entering nolle procequi in favour of major political and governmental figures, this move to effectively scrap the EFCC becomes more alarming.

“We therefore call on the National Assembly and all Nigerians to vigorously reject this attempt to perpetrate fraud on the nation by effectively scuttling the EFCC and shutting down Nigeria’s anti-corruption war.”

Offensive highlights of the proposed bill, according to Sagay, include, “the repeal of the current EFCC Establishment Act, which has been a spectacular success and has brought Nigeria into limelight as a major force against corruption.”

He added that the bill proposed the scrapping of the commission and replacing it with a weak agency, which would be effectively a department in a Federal Ministry of Justice under the AGF.

Sagay listed the weaknesses in the proposed bill to include, “The replacement of the Executive Chairman of the EFCC with a director-general, who is effectively to be appointed by the attorney-general eliminates the EFCC’s freedom and autonomy, and replaces it with an entity under the complete control of the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General.”

Attempts to get the reaction of Malami’s spokesperson, Dr Umar Gwandu, to the various allegations levelled against him by the Sagay committee, were futile as he neither take his calls nor responded to a text message sent to him on Wednesday.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES,

THURSDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER 2020.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out.

The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious (James 4:8-9 MSG).

Ephesians 5:15-16 is an apt admonition for us especially in these last days. It says, “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise. Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. ”

The stakes are very high. You can’t live your life carelessly as a child of God. You belong to Jesus Christ; therefore, serve Him with your life. Live for Him.

The Bible says, “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). God has a purpose for your life which you must fulfil. That’s the most important thing for you: discovering your purpose in Him and fulfilling it.

Life isn’t about your personal dreams, plans, aspirations or ambitions. The Bible says, “Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness” (2 Peter 3:11). It makes no difference what beautiful structures you see in this world or the earthly fulfilment of men; everything shall be destroyed.

It reminds of King Solomon who built God the most beautiful temple ever. It was greatly celebrated, and of course, God was happy with him and blessed him. But our God doesn’t live in temples made with hands. When they went into idolatry and began to serve Baal, the beautiful temple was destroyed; a resultant punishment for not walking in line with His Word.

God doesn’t care about earthly things. Everything you’ll ever have in this world came from something that was already here, and if that’s true, why don’t you live your life for the One who made all things originally? Serve Him with your life. Get serious, really serious with your service of the Lord.

PRAYER

I was born for the glory of God, to walk with Him and bring Him honour. He planned from the beginning that I should serve Him with my life, and walk worthy of Him, pleasing Him in all things, and fruitful in every good work. This is my passion, pursuit, and purpose every day, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

I affirm that I am rooted and established in the Word. I am confident in the ability of God’s Word to prevail and produce in me the fruit of what it says; therefore I speak the Word with boldness today, knowing that my prosperity is by the Word.

I am like a tree by the streams, bearing fruits unto righteousness, because I live by the Word. I am an offspring of the Most High; possessor of heaven and
earth, the seed of Abraham, and an heir of the world.

My prosperity is unlimited, for I was born with wealth untold. I lay up gold as dust, and the riches of the nations gravitate to me. Hallelujah!

I am making progress and moving to the next and higher level of success. The Spirit of God is guiding me to make the right and necessary changes required for my next level of success and promotion in life.

Through the Word, wisdom is granted me to function excellently, and I live a fruitful and effective life in righteousness.

I go out today with joy and I am led forth with peace; I walk in victory and dominion over Satan, the cohorts of darkness, and the circumstances of life.

I experience the power and supernatural grace of God today, as I make manifest the savour of the knowledge of Christ, in every place. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

Reverse increase in petrol and electricity tariff within two weeks or we go on strike- NLC tells FG

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has issued a two-week ultimatum to the federal government to reverse the recent hike in electricity tariff and the pump price of petrol or face a nationwide strike.

The Labour Congress issued the ultimatum after its Central Working Committee meeting which held for several hours in Abuja today September 16.

In a communiqué read by NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, the body said the ultimatum takes immediate effect, warning that at the end of its expiration on September 28, it would mobilize its members nationwide for civil unrest.

Quote:''The Central Working Committee has resolved to issue a two-weeks ultimatum to the Federal government to reverse its decision or face industrial action and peaceful assembly.'' Wabba said

On Wednesday, September 2, the Federal Government through the Petroleum Pricing Marketing Company (PPMC) increased the ex-depot price of petrol from N138 to N151.56 per litre, forcing marketers to increase pump price from N148 to N162 per litre.

Also on September 1, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) directed the various electricity distribution companies in the country to begin the implementation of the new electricity tariff regime which will see Nigerians paying more for electricity.

Islamic Movement of Nigeria blasts Pete Edochie for his portrayal of El-Zakzaky

Islamic Movement of Nigeria blasts Pete Edochie for his portrayal of El-Zakzaky in new movie after the actor alleged his life was being threatened

Proscribed group, Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), has bashed Pete Edochie after the veteran Nollywood actor raised alarm early this week alleging his life was being threatened after photos and video clips circulated, showing him playing a role that seemed like that of Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of the IMN, who has been held in detention by the Nigerian Army since December 2015.

In the yet to be released movie produced by Anosike Kingsley Orji, the Islamic Movement in Nigeria was reportedly depicted as a terrorist organisation.

According to IMN, the movie titled “Fatal Arrogance” was sponsored by the "Nigerian Army to cover up the alleged December 2015 massacre of Shiites by soldiers where 348 people were allegedly killed."

Early this week, following backlash of the movie by IMN members, Pete Edochie claimed his life was being threatened.
“I don’t understand what the IMN is driving at. The film we shot is not even out, it has not been edited, the production is not complete" Edochie said in the interview released by Sahara Reporters.

“If they have complained to the Inspector-General of Police, and the IGP says give me a copy of the film, what are we going to do because the film is not in existence yet, it is not in circulation.

“I am supposed to have played a role that ridiculed their boss, chief, whoever is in charge of their group.

“I am suggesting that you wait, keep your gunpowder dry, when the film is released, you can now make your grumbles known to the Inspector-General of Police.
“Whatever is being done now is premature, it is not proper.

“Fatal Arrogance, whatever it is, whatever it deals with, I think the best thing to do is to wait until the production comes out.”

"I did not write it, the film was produced by Kingsley Orji Anosike. If you want to express resentment over the production, which you have not watched, direct your grievances to the producer of the film not to Pete Edochie who is a mere actor, it does not concern me.

“I thank all those people who out of concern informed me of the campaign of deliberation of my person, the organised threat of my person by IMN, I thank you all. I’m a free born of Nigeria, I was born and raised in Nigeria. I’m not going to run away from Nigeria because a few individuals think they want things done in their own way.”

The IMN have now responded, saying Pete Edochie allowed himself 'to be used' and should stop wailing as he wasn't threatened. The group blasted the actor for his portrayal of shiites in the soon to be released movie.

The IMN also claimed the movie was similar to a book written by Kuanum Terrence, a 'military apologist'.

Reacting in a statement by Ibrahim Musa, its spokesperson,  the IMN said the ace actor attempted to give IMN a bad name by attracting “cheap sympathy” from Nigerians with his narrative.

The sect also said that Edochie’s explanation was “inexplicable, his reasons flawed and his excuses unimpressive, irrational, and at best absurd”.

“The petition written by the IMN to the Inspector General of Police and the Film’s Censors Board doesn’t threaten anyone’s life. Issuing of threats has never been in our character,” the statement read.

“Pete Edochie should be honourable enough to accept that he allowed himself to be used to further vilify victims of one of the worst state-sponsored massacres of its citizens. He could still redeem his name as other actors in the ill-fated film are doing.

“If Edochie has any character as he claims, he would not have accepted to act any role in a film that seems to change the narrative and distort history based on a book distorting facts! If he had any integrity, he would not have accepted to appear in a movie tarnishing the image of an oppressed personality like Sheikh Zakzaky and still think he did nothing wrong because the Sheikh was not mentioned by name.

“Any serious artist worth the name must, first of all, undertake some kind of serious research to get the facts of any script brought to him right.

“Had he been bold enough to cross-check, he would have realized that genocide took place in Zaria in 2015 where over a thousand Nigerian lives were wasted by the sponsors of the film.

“He would have come across the very many attempts by the perpetrators to hide these heinous crimes, firstly by the burial of their victims in mass graves, an internationally recognized crime…

“He would have realized the matter is currently a subject of investigation by the International Criminal Court (ICC). The script before him is a continuation of that desperate attempt to distort facts.”

The IMF has petitioned the Films and Censorship Board as well as the Inspector-General of police over the movie.

University Of Benin Matriculates 10,018 Students For 2019/2020 Session (Photos)

Quote:The University of Benin (UNIBEN) on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, matriculated a total of 10, 018 students for the 2019/2020 academic session, CAMPUS GIST reports.

CAMPUS GIST reports that the matriculation ceremony held virtually, with a student representative from the various faculties/schools/colleges/institutes physically present.

The event took place at the University of Benin 'Akin Deko' main auditorium, with only the principal officers and few designated officials of the institution present.

Our correspondent, who monitored the event, reports that the matriculation oath was administered on the students by Acting Registrar of the school, Mr. C. I. Ehigiator.

Addressing the new students of the University, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Lillian Salami, told the students to see their admittance into the institution as an opportunity to contribute their quota to the development of the country.

“The motto that we proud of this university, the University of Benin is knowledge for service. You are therefore expected to bear constantly in mind and to exhibit high sense of discipline while you are in the University and outside the walls of the University.

“The University of Benin would not award its degrees to students who are found wanting in character and in learning,” she warned.

The vice chancellor also urged the new students to shun all vices capable of truncating their educational pursuits.

“You need to constantly remind yourselves that the distance between today's ceremony and your convocation is quite wide. And it is important that the journey ends successfully.

“For this to happen, you need to be regular in attendance at lectures; at least a minimum of 75 per cent is required of you to be allowed into examination halls, as well as carrying out all assignments, shunning deviant behaviours and other vices including cultism that can expose you and others to danger.”

Some of the matriculating students, who spoke to CAMPUS GIST off-camera, expressed confidence in making the institution proud.
