Addressing the labour leaders before going into the closed doors session, Rep Gbajabiamila appealed to the labour to shelve the nationwide Strike even for a while to allow the Federal Government to sort out all the issues at stake.

Quote:The National Asociation of Nigerian Students (NANS) has said it will join the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in a massive protest and strike on Monday, September 28, 2020.

According to report NLC and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have been mobilising their members for the strike over recent hike in fuel pump price and electricity tariff.

The NANS PRO (Southwest Zone D), Kazeem Olalekan Israel, told The Nation all JCC chairmen in the southwest region have been notified and mobilised to galvanise students for mass action on Monday.

A statement by Kowe Odunayo Amos, Coordinator, NANS Zone D, said: “Today, the people are living in despair and there is high cost of living. Low standard of living with the government doing absolutely nothing to ease the clear hardship we have in the land. There is no proper adjective to employ in describing the increment which PMS pump price has received in the last 3 months”

“It is based on the foregoing we declare our solidarity and full support… We call on all Civil Society Organisations both on and off campuses to unite and mobilise millions of Nigerians to the streets on Monday.”

President Buhari under fire for allegedly authorizing presidential jet for aide’s wed

President Buhari under fire for allegedly authorizing presidential jet for aide’s wedding

on
 September 27, 2020
[Image: jet.jpeg]

President Muhammadu Buhari has come under fire for allegedly authorizing the use of the Presidential Jet for the wedding of one of his aides, Bashir Ahmad.
Reno Omokri, in s statement to DAILY POST on Saturday called on the President to refund the National Treasury the cost of using the Presidential Jet for his PA’s wedding.

President Buhari’s assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad wedded in Katsina on Friday and the Presidential Jet was said to have been used to ferry him and others in the Presidential Villa to the venue.

The Presidency is said to have denied using the jet to ferry Bashir, saying that it only flew the President’s representatives, but Omokri insists the excuse is flawed and shows that after five years in office, Buhari still does not understand statecraft.

Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan noted that a Presidential jet is not the property of the President but of the nation, and used only in ferrying him (the President) to and fro his official functions.

The former Presidential aide recalled that a similar incident happened in South Africa when on September 12, 2020, it was discovered that President Cyril Ramaphosa had allowed his Minister of Defence, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, to travel with South Africa’s Presidential Jet for an official meeting of the African National Congress.

According to him, “Once this came to light, the Julius Malema led Economic Freedom Fighters pressure group, insisted that the President and his party must reimburse the national treasury for the cost of the trip, as well as suspend the Defence Minister.

“In less than 48 hours, the ANC capitulated and reimbursed the national treasury, and the fate of the Defence Minister is hanging in the balance.
“Also, the Office of the Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, is investigating the ANC and the government over the incident. That is how it should be.
“It is a significant breach of his fiduciary duties for General Buhari to give out the Presidential jet to his representatives to his Personal Assistant, Bashir Ahmed’s wedding in Katsina on Friday, September 27, 2020. This is a private event that has no bearing on Nigeria.

“And the excuse given by the Presidency that the jet did not ferry Bashir, but only flew the President’s representatives is flawed and shows that after five years in office, General Buhari still does not understand statecraft.

“If this had occurred in the United Kingdom, it could have caused the government to fall. I understand that standards have slipped in Nigeria since 2015, but we must at least pretend to be a civilised nation.

“The Buhari administration keeps complaining that times are hard, but they are living large at our expense and Nigerians should not take this lying low from a government that just increased fuel price and power tariff.

“The wedding of your subordinates is a private affair. It is not an official function.

“I, therefore, call on General Buhari to reimburse the national treasury for the cost of fuelling the Presidential jet to Katsina for Bashir Ahmad’s wedding, as well as the cost of paying the crew.

“I also call on the President to suspend all public officials involved in this abuse of office. Failure to do so is proof positive that the President is not in charge of his government and his anti-corruption war is, in reality, an anti-opposition war.”

SERAP gives Buhari ultimatum to prosecute 103 high-profile corruption cases

SERAP gives Buhari ultimatum to prosecute 103 high-profile corruption cases

on
 September 27, 2020
[Image: BUHARI-1.jpg]
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to instruct Abubakar Malami, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, to prosecute high-profile corruption cases.

The organization said the high-profile cases include 103 files reportedly sent to Malami by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2017.

The body also demanded details of the whereabouts of 15 allegedly missing case files sent to Malami in 2019 by the defunct Special Presidential Investigation Panel on the Recovery of Public Property (SPIP).
In the letter by its Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, SERAP noted that failure to diligently and expeditiously prosecute high profile corruption cases amounts to a fundamental breach of constitutional and international obligations.

“The fact that these cases have been pending for several years suggests that your government has not carried out its public, constitutional and international obligations, including the obligations to show that no one is above the law as far as the fight against corruption is concerned.

“Public interest demands that high-profile corruption cases are concluded within a reasonable time so that those guilty are punished and the innocent are set free. The rule of law and the preservation of democracy also require that the authorities duly proceed in accordance with the law against every high-profile person suspected of grand corruption, irrespective of where he/she is placed in the political hierarchy.

“SERAP is seriously concerned about the apparent inertia by the authorities to diligently and expeditiously prosecute high-profile corruption cases. While many of these cases have been dragging before your assumption of office in May 2015, several of the cases have not satisfactorily progressed, contrary to Nigerians’ expectations.

“Speedily, diligently, effectively and fairly prosecuting high-profile corruption cases would demonstrate your government’s commitment to enhance probity in public life and willingness to enforce accountability in public life. The basic postulate of the concept of equality: ‘Be you ever so high, the law is above you’, should be your government’s approach to high profile corruption cases.”

SERAP gave the federal government 14 days to act.
The group threatened legal action if its demands are not met.

Trauma of living in exile in US led me to Christ - Remi Tinubu

Oluremi Tinubu, wife of All Progressives Congress chieftain Bola Tinubu has revealed that the trauma of being alone in the US with little kids and without her husband led her to Christ.

The Lagos Central Senator disclosed this in an interview on Television Continental. Remi Tinubu who recently celebrated her 60th birthday, added that it was when she became the first lady of Lagos at a young age she knew she had to seek God’s guidance to handle the responsibilities that came with the position.

She said;

Quote:“Like I said, if you get into a position you never envisage in your life time that you will ever occupy, you believe it is a privilege and God must have made you to become that. So you have to go back to God and ask ‘how do I do this.

“Thank God before I became the first lady, we were in self exile for almost five years and when you have problem, the only person you run to is God. So while I was in the US, I went to church, that was when I became born again.

“I went into exile as an Anglican, came out as a Pentecostal. I remember I was looking for God from one church to another, it was very difficult. When I came back, l had amnesia, I lost my memory, it was traumatic for me and that’s why I don’t like attending social gatherings because people walk up to me and I don’t recognise them anymore.

“It was traumatic for me because I was around 34, first time of being separated from your husband, and then you are stuck with two children with a lot of responsibilities.

“My husband couldn’t come see us until 18 months after. They locked them up for a while during the Abacha period and to see us, they have to go through neighbouring borders and the only passport he had was a diplomatic passport that couldn’t get him to UK because there were sanctions on diplomats because of June 12.
“He had to get to a neighbouring country to get their passport to come see us.

Through that passport, he came to see us once every six months. But for me to raise the children to go to school, they were very young, it was traumatic for me. So to come back and become a first lady, it was something else.”

The ordained minister of the Redeemed Christian Church of God also revealed what its been like, living in a home with a husband who is a Muslim.

Remi Tinubu added;

Quote:“When I met my husband, I didn’t know it was a big deal. We’re from the Anglican Church. Then, a lot of Christians married Muslims. It was my sister that introduced us.

“One of the things that was profound for me, when we both went to see my dad, my dad asked him ‘are you a Muslim?, that was the first time I heard that. You’re a Muslim, I hope you won’t prevent my daughter from going to church and he promised not to.

“The point is he is quite respectful of my faith and if someone respects you it is quite right you show the same respect. He respects my faith, I respect his so there is no conflict.

“He doesn’t stop me from praying even if some pastors come around. He also has a lot of pastor friends that I met through him.

“My husband is very liberal when it comes to faith,  being married to a Muslim I never had any problem. But when it is time for me to put on hijab during his events, I’ll do that but that doesn’t change my faith.

“He didn’t impose his faith on our children, I raise my children as Christians despite they bear Muslim names.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER.

TRUST LIKE A CHILD

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding (Proverbs 3:5).

Being trusting isn’t the same as being gullible, and recognising this distinction is essential because there’re gullible people who think they’re trusting.

To be gullible means to be easily deceived. But children aren’t easily deceived; they’re usually trusting. They trust your character. Adults, however, can be gullible. An adult will try to reason out whatever he’s told before he trusts it, and he may not give much concern to the character of the one he’s trusting.

If you hold out a child from the balcony, for example, and ask someone else whom the child trusts to stay at the ground-floor and catch him, the child will be ready to let go because he trusts the one at the ground floor. The child may not know if the fellow downstairs has the power or ability to catch him, but he believes he wouldn’t let him fall. That’s the kind of childlike faith you’re to have towards God.

The Lord Jesus admonished in Matthew 18:3 (AMPC) that we be like little children, “…[trusting, lowly, loving, forgiving]….” He wants you to trust the character of God. His character is made plain in the Word; He never fails. Boldly place your confidence in Him to fulfil His purpose in your life.

Sometimes, many try to “help” God out in doing what He intends. Perhaps, He’s given you a vision or ministered some ideas to you relating to your purpose, and you’re so excited and eager to see everything work out, which is good! But if you’re not trusting and yielded to the Holy Spirit, you may try to play “God.” You may be playing His role by trying to help Him in your own wisdom. But the end result won’t be pleasant.

The best of all is to trust that He alone knows and has the blueprint for your life. Take a cue from Abraham who trusted and followed the Lord even though He didn’t know where God was leading Him. The Bible says, “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went” (Hebrews 11:8).

PRAYER

Dear Father, I live my life, trusting you wholeheartedly in all things, leaning on your Word and acting on your instructions. I commit my plans, aspirations and desires to you, being fully convinced that you’re more interested in, and passionate for my success than I could ever be, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for my spirit is trained and energized by Your Word to hear and discern Your voice as You lead me in glory, and righteousness.

in righteousness.

Thank You for the Name of Jesus is named upon me, and Your divine life that has completely inundated my entire being – spirit, soul, and body!

I initiate success, victory, and prosperity from within, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Court stops Igbo’s New Yam festival in Kano

 September 26, 2020
[Image: court.jpg]

The year 2020 proposed New Yam Festival by Ndigbo living in Kano State has been put on hold as the High Court has issued an ex parte motion, stopping the activities until the hearing of the substantive motion before it.

The High Court presided by Justice Farouk Lawan Adamu, stopped the Ndigbo from performing the New Yam Festival (Iwaji 2020) rituals scheduled to hold on Sunday (tomorrow) in Kano.

The court, in Suit No. K/322/2020, also restrained one Ikechukwu Oliver Akpudo from organising, assembling people and celebrating the Iwaji or any festival that has to do with Ndigbo living in Kano.

Justice Adamu directed the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Habu Sani, to ensure Akpudo, other Igbo natives and the general public comply with the court order.

“Order of interim injunction is hereby retraining the defendant (Akpudo), whether by himself, through any of his agents, servants, successors or privies, from presiding over, supervising, convening, assembling, summoning, celebrating, organising and partaking in a New Yam Festival (Iwaji Festival 2020) scheduled to hold on Sunday, September 27, 2020,” the court said.

The court further stopped Akpudo from carrying out any event or other occasions whatsoever pertaining to Igbos in Kano State, pending hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice filed by Igwe Boniface. The court fixed October 7 for hearing.
Meanwhile, the Igbo traditional ruler in Kano, His Highness Igwe (Dr.) Boniface Ibekwe Ide I, Ezedioranma IV, has hailed the court’s verdict.

Dr. Boniface, who is also the President-General of Igbo Traditional Rulers in the Diaspora, told DAILY POST that the said Akpudo has been parading himself as the Igwe V of the Indigbo in Kano.

It was gathered that Boniface is also recognised by the Abdullahi Ganduje administration as the authentic traditional ruler of the Indigbo in Kano State.

“The court had initially restrained Akpudo and asked him to pay me the sum of N2 million, as damages, for disturbing me on the throne. He has not paid the money, yet, he went ahead to invite people for an Igbo New Yam Festival.

“He also wrote letters to prominent Igbo personalities promising to give them chieftaincy titles during his purported event. So, I and my cabinet members, as law-abiding citizens, had to go to court to stop him.

“How can someone wakes up suddenly and begins to parade himself as my successor when I am still alive, still on the throne and performing my duties diligently as the authentic Eze Indigbo in Kano?,” Dr. Boniface who has been on the throne for 10 years queried.

The Igbo monarch appealed to the Igbos in Kano to be calm, that the New Yam Festival (Iwaji) will be celebrated at an appropriate time in accordance with the Igbo tradition.

Stampede For Governor Tambuwal’s Cash In Sokoto: One Dies, 3 Others Injured

Quote:By Abankula with Habibu Harisu

A stampede for the monetary gift doled out by Governor Aminu Tambuwal in Sokoto on Friday has led to tragedy after a policeman shot dead one person.

The policeman also injured three others.

The shooter, a police sergeant, identified as Bello Garba, was promptly arrested by the Sokoto Police Command.

His victims have also been identified.

Bello killed 25-year-old Aminu Abdulrahman and injured Junaidu Abba, Babangida Muhammad and Awaisu Alti, during the incident at Sultan Bello Jumu’at mosque, in Sokoto..
.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Muhammad Sadiq, said all the victims were evacuated to Specialist Hospital Sokoto.

The injured will be treated, while an autopsy will be carried out on the dead.

Sadiq said victims were said to be sharing money doled out by Gov. Aminu Tambuwal after the Juma’at prayers to mark Nigeria’s 60th Independence anniversary.

Sadiq said that the Sergeant, of Counter Terrorism Unit Base 18 Gusau, was attached to Government House Sokoto.

He said that “the policeman unprofessionally fired without reasonable justification at that material time.”

”The Sokoto State Police Command condemns in its entirety the unwarranted, uncivil and unprofessional conduct of a Police Sergeant on special duty in the state.

”Commissioner of Police. Mr Sani Kaoje had ordered the detention and trial of the erring officer and charged the state Criminal Investigation Department to speed up investigation and come up with objective findings,” Sadiq said.

He added that the commissioner also charged all officers and men of the Command to deploy professional acumen, including psychological capacity to enhance the safety of the people, and not to resort to using arms against the populace.

”The incident occurred at about 2:30pm, shortly after the special Juma’at prayers offered in commemoration of Nigeria’s forthcoming 60th independence anniversary at Sultan Bello Juma’at Mosque.

”The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal while magnanimously giving out gifts to the needy, a brief distribution which gave birth to an upsurge in would-be beneficiaries.

“However, in an unconventional effort to control the crowd after the departure of the governor the policeman fired the shot,” Sadiq added.

A Nigerian Army colonel, M.Z Manu and two soldiers have been killed by bandits in Unguwar Doka Village under Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

It was gathered that the bandits, armed with AK-47 rifles invaded the villages on Thursday night and started shooting indiscriminately. In the process, the gallant officer, soldiers and some civilians were killed.

The acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brig. General Benard Onyeuko, who confirmed the incident in a statement issued to journalists at the Special Army Super Camp IV Faskari, said troops of Operation Sahel Sanity responded to a distress call on September 24, 2020 that bandits attacked Unguwar Doka Village and swiftly mobilised to the area where they cleared the bandits.

During the encounter, troops neutralised 21 bandits while others escaped with gunshot into the forest as evident by the trails of blood along the criminals’ escape route.

The statement disclosed that the soldiers rescued three kidnapped victims, including an eight-month-old baby who had been in captivity for more than 23 days and recovered one AK-47 and three motorcycles from the fleeing hoodlums.

"Regrettably, resulting from the encounter with the bandits, one gallant officer and two soldiers paid the supreme sacrifice while two other soldiers were wounded in action and are currently receiving medical treatment in a military medical facility and responding positively," said Onyeuko.

“The fearless troops have continued to pursue the bandits into the forest and dominating the general areas with aggressive fighting patrols to deny them any respite." he added.

Meanwhile, the burial activities of Colonel Manu will hold today at army HQ, Zaria, Kaduna state.

Recall LIB reported that the teenager was handed the jail sentence for “using disparaging language on Allah” during a disagreement with his friend.

However Cywinski, a foreign activist, in the letter dated September 25 sought for pardon for Farouq, and further stated that he and 119 volunteers would serve a month in a Nigerian prison on Farouq’s behalf if President Buhari is unable to secure the pardon.

The letter read;

Quote:“I permit myself to write to you personally about a young boy named Omar Farouq, who was convicted recently in a Sharia court in Kano State in north-west Nigeria after being accused of blasphemy used during an argument with a friend,” he said.

“I wish to request the pardon of this 13 year old boy. Regardless of what he said, he cannot be treated as fully aware and responsible, given his age.

“If it turns out that the words of this child absolutely require 120 months of imprisonment, and even you are not able to change that, I suggest that in place of the child, 120 adult volunteers from all over the world, gathered by us myself personally among them should each serve a month in a Nigerian prison.

“In total, the price for the child’s transgression will be the same, and we will all avoid the worst.

“If you agree to grant clemency, or to the above proposal in lieu of punishment, I will make an attempt to provide financial help for the boy’s proper education. This way, instead of a destroyed young man, Nigeria will gain an aware and educated young citizen.

“You will undoubtedly agree with the statement that human rights begin with the rights of the child. I kindly ask you to consider my proposal favorably.”

Don’t join nationwide strike - FG warns civil servants

Workers under the federal civil service have been asked not to join the planned strike by labour unions across the country scheduled to begin on Monday September 28.

Folasade Yemi-Esan, head of civil service of the federation in a statement released late on Friday September 25 stated that the workers cannot embark on the industrial action because there is a court injunction restraining them from doing so.

She added that the federal government is in talks with the labour unions towards ensuring that all agitations by the workers are resolved.

The statement read;

Quote:“Sequel to the call by the Labour Unions for workers to embark on industrial action from Monday, 28th September, 2020, the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) wishes to inform all public servants that the Federal Government team is currently engaging with the Labour Unions with a view to resolving all contentious issues and avert the planned industrial action.

“Furthermore, it is important to note that there is a court injunction granted by the National Industrial Court (Suit No. NICN/ABJ/253/2020) on 24th September, 2020, restraining the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria from embarking on any form of industrial action pending the hearing and determination of a Motion on Notice.

“Accordingly, all officers on Grade Level 12 and above and those on essential services are hereby strongly advised to be at work to perform their official duties.”

Hope Uzodinma: Those Calling Me ‘Supreme Court Governor’ Are Ignorant
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 09-26-2020, 11:28 AM - No Replies

Quote:Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has faulted those referring to him as a “Supreme Court Governor”, saying that they are ignorant.

He spoke on Channels Television’s Hard Copy programme monitored by our correspondent on Friday.
The governor explained that he emerged through a legitimate means, adding that he was not the first to be favoured by a Supreme Court judgement.

Asked how he feels when people call him a Supreme Court governor, Uzodinma said, “It is the height of ignorance because they don’t know what they are saying. There is a reason for the Supreme Court. In the doctrine and principle of democracy, the law expected that there would be grievances and malpractices in the electoral process.

“When this happens, the only legitimate right you have is to seek redress at the court. And of course, the court determines. Remember that this is not the first time, so many elections had held where the candidates went to court and they got justice. So, why will mine be different?

“Human beings voted and the votes were not counted. I went to the Supreme Court and INEC was unable to explain why they did not enter the result. It was a simple judgment. The Supreme Court said INEC was wrong.”

The apex court had, on January 14, removed Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party on the ground that he did not score the lawful majority votes in the Imo governorship race.

The court said it arrived at that decision after adding votes scored by Uzodinma in 388 polling units, which showed that he won the race.

It subsequently declared Uzodinma the winner of the election and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to give him a Certificate of Return as elected Imo governor.

Ihedioha, however, returned to the Supreme Court with a view to seeking a review of the judgement that removed him from office but failed.

Jackie Appiah is allegedly pregnant for the Liberian President – Reports

The new-look of Jackie Appiah on social media has raised eyebrows. People have started their personal assessment on her and have come to the conclusion that the actress is pregnant.

It has become the talk of the town following photos she took at Adonko Next Level Virtual Launch that came off September 21st at Holiday Inn, Accra.

Check out the Jackie Appiah’s new photos that suggests she’s pregnant;

Though we can’t just conclude of her pregnancy because pictures can decieve, social media ‘doctors’ very good at their job says she’s expecting a baby soon.

If this is anything to jump onto, who is the man who got her pregnant? – a question everybody is asking.

A new report by a blogger, Aba The Great suggests that the beautiful and classy actress is allegedly pregnant for George Oppong Weah, the incumbent Liberian President.

George Manneh Oppong Weah is a Liberian politician and former professional footballer currently serving as the 25th President of Liberia, in office since 2018.

We don’t know how true this is but it’s an allegation by an investigative journalist who might have proof.

It may be that her allegation might be as a result of a photo of the Jackie Appiah in a pose which she shared on her Instagram page some time ago to congratulate George Weah for winning as President of Liberia in 2018.

Meanwhile Jackie Appiah has not reacted to this.

Aba The Great captioning the post she shared on Instagram wrote; “Liberian first lady Jackie Appiah is soo pregnant”. Check the post below;

In other news, the award-winning actress shook social media after she flaunted her expensive Maserati car last Monday at the Adonko Next Level Virtual program.

Jackie acquired the car in 2018 where she took to social media to share a photo of herself with the car with a caption that reads: “IN ALL THINGS, BE GRATEFUL. WORK HARD AND PLAY HARD. ?MASARATI” SHE CAPTIONED HER SLAYING SHOT.”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER.

THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF YOUR DIVINE ESSENCE

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).

We’re in a very special dispensation in God’s Kingdom. Through the knowledge of the Word, we’re guided by the Spirit to walk in accordance with His plan and timing.

Many don’t understand the Spirit’s language in the verse above when it says, “Ye are of God…”; it means you hail from God; you’re born of Him. This is what makes the Christian a divine being, and not a mere human person. Hallelujah!

This is where some have missed it; their lack of consciousness of who they really are in Christ. The Apostle John, addressing this, said in 1 John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life….” God wants you to have the conscious, active knowledge that His life is in you. You’re a divine life-carrier; a God-conveyor.

Referring to the Lord Jesus, the Bible says “…in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him…” (Colossians 2:9-10). Notice the expression, “And ye are complete in Him….” This means all of divinity resides in you as it does Jesus. No wonder Peter calls us “Associates of the God-kind”; partakers of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4).

You’re filled or replete with God. That’s what it means to be “complete in Him”; nothing else needs to be in you to make you divine. This is why sickness, disease and infirmity can’t be a part of your life. If you’d meditate on the God-life in you, you’d never be sick another day of your life.

You were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God (John 1:13). The same life that makes it impossible for God to get sick, be defeated or have anything “happen” to Him is what you have in you. Your consciousness of this reality will make you eternally triumphant and walk in dominion every day of your life. Glory to God!

CONFESSION

Blessed be God! I have and walk in the consciousness of my divine essence; I walk in dominion over sickness, disease, death and the elements of this world. Christ in me is greater than all; and I celebrate my oneness with the Lord, today and always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

I have vision of new Nigeria – Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has assured Nigerians of a better country.

Obasanjo said he could see a new vision and observed Nigerians having a new understanding of the nation.
The former President said this at 94th birthday of Pa Rueben Fasoranti, the Afenifere leader held in Akure, Ondo State capital on Friday where his (Faaorant) autobiography entitled “My Life, My Legacy (Service with Integrity and Excellence) was also unveiled.

Pa Fasoranti had earlier expressed concern over the state of the country emphasizing that the issue of insecurity has continued to rear its ugly head in the country.

But speaking, Obasanjo said, “Baba, I feel your sense of frustration. That you are saying this is not the Nigeria of my dream, the Nigeria I laboured for all my life or a seemingly hopeless Nigeria.

“I want to assure you that I have a vision of a new Nigeria. I see a new understanding among Nigerians. New awareness among Nigerians, new realization among Nigerians.

“As long as there is life, there is no end to working for Nigeria. We have nothing else to do except to follow your examples.

“When the time comes, my prayer is that you will see Nigeria of your dream that you have laboured for, the Nigeria our founding fathers wished for.

“Not Nigeria without development and a nation without security. In your lifetime we will have Nigeria of your dream.”

Guber poll: Ondo is not Rivers – Akeredolu tells Wike

on
 September 25, 2020
[Image: AKEREDOLU.jpg]

The Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has lashed out at his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike of his allegations ahead of the forthcoming polls in Ondo State.

While urging Wike to exercise caution over his utterances, Akeredolu said that Ondo State is not Rivers where he can lord over anyone.

According to Akeredolu, who spoke through his Commissioner for Information, Donald Ojogo, said the scheme by Wike to assume the role of godfather ahead of the poll will be resisted by the people of Ondo State.

On Friday, during a breakfast programme on Channels Television, Wike had alleged that following the victorious outing of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Edo State, there is enormous pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that the All Progressives Congress (APC) wins at all cost during the October 10 polls.

While emphasizing the Wike’s “imperialistic approach is most unfortunate and very unbecoming,” Akeredolu said tactics cannot work in Ondo State.

Akeredolu said “In all aspects, Governor Wike deserves respect not just as governor but as a critical stakeholder in the Democratic journey. He has his inalienable rights as a citizen to express his mind and make comments about whatever he feels strongly about.

“However, what amuses us is his imperious attitude and recourse to spurious allegations just because of an election. He should know that the people of the state, who have a history of rejecting external influence and domination, will resist his attempt to play the role of a godfather in Ondo state. Ondo is not Rivers.

“The man ought to know that utterances of public office holders must be measured and their delivery ought to be in line with the mood of the people. The people of the state will resist Wike here even if he had roared elsewhere successfully. For emphasis, his imperialistic approach is most unfortunate and very unbecoming.”

NLC Insists On Monday Protest Despite Court Orde

Quote:The Nigeria Labour Congress on Friday insisted that it will go on with its planned mass action scheduled for Monday, September 28.

In a communique by its General Secretary, Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja, the NLC asked its members across the nation to come out in large numbers to protest the increase in fuel and electricity prices.

The order was given despite a fresh court order obtained by the Federal Government, barring the NLC and the Trade Union Congress from embarking on their planned strike scheduled to commence on Monday.

In the statement by Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja, NLC asked all National Leadership of affiliates in Abuja to mobile at least 2000 of their members to Unity Fountain, Abuja for the mass rally which takes off at 7am.

Also, affiliates are expected to mobilise the same number of members to the NLC Sub-Secretariat, 29, Olajuwon Street, Yaba, Lagos, which is the take-off point for the Lagos action at 7am also.

The NLC Secretary also noted that all Presidents and General Secretaries are expected to lead and identify with their members at the take-off point.

Reverse fuel, electricity price, or?
Earlier in September, Organised Labour threatened to embark on a nationwide strike if the Federal Government refuses to reverse the recent increases in fuel and electricity tariff.

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Ayuba Wabba while making the announcement in Abuja said the NLC’s central working committee (CWC) has resolved to issue a two-week ultimatum to the Federal Government to reverse the increase.

He said workers and Nigerians are disappointed that the government decided to increase both the price of fuel and electricity tariff at a time “other countries across the world are giving palliatives to their citizens to cushion the effect of COVID-19.”

“NLC central committee will also mobilise its members, civic society allies, and other social partners to resist this policy because it has driven many into poverty,” Wabba added.

Ahead of the threat by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to resort to industrial action, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) held an emergency meeting of all the governors.

A man has been arrested in Uganda after he allegedly stabbed his 20-year-old sister to death during an argument.

It was gathered that the incident happened on Thursday, September 24, at Nakulaye Zone 5, a Kampala city suburb in Lubaga Municipality.

The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, who confirmed the incident, identified the suspect as Ashim Kyomuhendo, 28,.

Owoyesigyire said Kyomuhendo allegedly stabbed and killed his sister Aminah Namara, during an argument at around 4am, on Thursday morning. It is purported that Namara visited her brother a month ago and they have been staying together at his home.

"Our officers have conveyed the body of the deceased to the City Mortuary in Mulago for a postmortem as we continue with further investigations to ascertain the exact cause of the murder," Owoyesigyire said.

According to one of the eyewitnesses, Kyomuhendo picked a knife and stabbed his sister in the chest, and in the neck before he fled to his friend's home in Kasubi-Nabulagala.

"The two engaged in a serious verbal exchange. Out of blue Kyomuhendo charged when the sister insulted him to the extent of reminding him of his past which compelled him to stab her two times, in attempt to stop her from spilling more secrets about him," the eyewitness said.

Police have also arrested Harriet Komuntale, a wife to the suspect to aid in the investigations. She is detained at Nakulabye Police station.

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has advised organised labour against embarking on industrial action.

The warning was contained in a communiqué issued by the NGF Vice-Chairman and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, on Friday.

Tambuwal explained that any plan to down tools, will worsen the already deteriorating economic situation brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“On the call for national strike action by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), the Forum believes that the labour unions should exercise caution on the call for strike action, noting that any strike action will worsen the currently deteriorating economic situation of the country brought by the COVID-19 pandemic,” the communiqué partly read.

“While expressing concern over the call for national strike action by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Forum members suggested the provision of a cushioning arrangement to ameliorate the effect of subsidy removal.”

The meeting between the Federal Government and the Organised Labour over the hike in fuel price and electricity tariff has been postponed until Monday, September 28.

Labour unions had fixed the same day to commence a nationwide strike.

Music producer, Superwozzy was arrested with charms and Indian hemp - Lagos police reacts to harassment allegation (video)

The Lagos state police command has reacted to allegation of some of its operatives harassing music producer, Superwozzy and his friends.

The police debunked the allegation of excessive use of power and attempted extortion, and further urged the general public to regard the video as mischievous, baseless and an attempt to paint the police black as the police recovered Indian hemp and charms from the suspects.

Narrating what happened, the Lagos state police said in a statement by its spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi;

Quote:The Lagos State Police command has come across a trending video alleging the police attached to Ogudu Area command of Lagos State of harassment, excessive use of power and attempted extortion, released by some young men today, Friday, 25th September, 2020.

The Command wishes to debunk the allegations and urge the general public to regard the video as mischievous, baseless and an attempt to paint the police black.

To set the record straight, on Friday 25/9/2020 at about 9.30am, a team of Anti-Crime patrol from Area H, Ogudu, intercepted a Chevrolet saloon car with Reg. No SMK 436 DE, with three occupants, on Ogudu Expressway, Lagos State. The glasses, front and back, of the vehicle are fully tinted which aroused the suspicion of the patrol team; and efforts to get the occupants identified was rebuffed, as they refused to come down or wind down the side glasses of the car.

In a bid to detect and identify the occupants of the vehicle for security reasons, coupled with the Police's experience on criminals' modus operandi, the patrol team called for reinforcement and eventually, the three occupants were arrested and the vehicle towed to the station at Ogudu. The occupants were identified as (1) Okoh miracle,m,18 year old (2) Awodoyin Mayokun, m, 24 year old, and (3) Shonaike Adebola, m, age 20 years.

During the search on them and the car, the police recovered a wrap of weed suspected to be Indian hemp and some charms.

The Commissioner of Police has, however, ordered for thorough investigation of the incident, while appealing to Lagosians, particularly, the youths, to always respect the law and surrender for check at the instance of the police.

He also reiterated that in as much as the police will uphold the rule of law, protect human rights and dignity, it will not condone dissemination or spreading of fake, unfounded or malicious news to malign the image of the Nigeria Police or create security threats in the state.

Amosun fires back at Abiodun over Ogun workers entitlements

on
 September 25, 2020
[Image: Ibikunle-Amosun.jpg]

The immediate past Governor of Ogun State, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun has fired back Governor Dapo Abiodun over claims that he left behind a sum of N106.9 billion as unpaid workers gratuities, leave bonuses, contributory pension and promotion arrears, DAILY POST reports.

Amosun, in a statement signed by the former Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Barr. Taiwo Adeoluwa, on Friday, said, since he left office, “we have consciously refrained from joining issues with the successor regime.

This he said, is despite the “misstatements of facts in respect of programs and projects” of the previous administration.

However, Adeoluwa said, “our conscious decisions to stay in our lane were violated last week during the well-publicized Ogun State worker’s strike.”

According to him, the Abiodun administration had sponsored an advertorial in the newspaper on September 18, accusing the Amosun administration of owing workers up to N106.9 billion before leaving office.

Setting the record straight, the former SSG said: “the total outstanding Gratuity to the State workers stood at ₦7,635,425,007.44 at the end of our administration on 29 May 2019.”

For local government and SUBEB workers, it was stated that “A total sum of ₦22.9B was the outstanding Gratuity” as against the “₦32.5B published. Leaving an overstated amount of ₦9.6B.”
For leave bonus, Adeoluwa mentioned that the liability was overstated by ₦1.6B; saying N9.6b was claimed as “against the actual outstanding liability of ₦7.6B.”

“We noticed also that the amount of ₦46.5 Billion published as the outstanding Contributory Pension liabilities was overstated by ₦5.1 Billion. As the total liabilities stood at ₦41.4 Billion (State – ₦20.03B, LG & SUBEB – ₦21.37B). Respectfully, we cannot, therefore, be held responsible for the outstanding debts of ₦41.4B attributed to us,” he said.

Speaking further, the legal practitioner said, “We wish to place on record that we made full disclosure of our financial status and deliberately included that of SUBEB and LGAs.”

He said the Gbenga Daniel administration only declared liabilities of ₦49.23B, excluding outstanding amounts owed to the other tiers of government (the Local Government).

He noted that without attaining a financial break-even point in the state IGR, the State will continue to lag behind in development, stressing that the financial break-even point for the State will be, if and when the State attains the IGR figure of at least ₦12.5 Billion.

He recalled how the Amosun government increased the “IGR from a paltry ₦700 million monthly that we met upon assumption in May 2011, to about ₦7 billion” monthly in May 2019.

“Let it be noted that our Administration did not start from ‘Ground Zero’ in terms of outstanding liabilities related to Ogun State workers – Salary, Emoluments and Allowances. Rather, with the help of God and the support of the good people of Ogun State, as well as our Administration’s commitment and resolve to leave Ogun State better than we met it, we are proud to say that we have been able to put our dear State on auto-drive, particularly in the area of improved IGR. The Ogun State we left behind can be likened to an Economic Volcano that is already erupting.

“From the Financial Outlook of the State, as contained in the Ogun State Development Plan (2017-2030), we were confident to predict that by the year 2022, the State’s IGR will be between ₦12 Billion to ₦14 Billion monthly, while a further projected figure put it at ₦20 Billion per month by the year 2025. This is no rocket science, but an outcome of a coordinated approach and well-articulated plan laid out by our Administration.

“In light of this, it is expected that any succeeding administration after us will continue with the Ogun Standard way of thinking out of the box in order to take our dear State to the highest pedestal, whose foundation had already been laid by our Administration and the Contributions and Efforts of those GIANTS that came before us,” the statement read in part.

DAILY POST reports that Adeoluwa appreciated the workers for calling off the strike, urging them to always take cognisance of the fact that the people of Ogun State will ultimately be the victims of such disagreement between Government and Labour.

The Nigerian military has lost one senior military officer (reportedly a Colonel) and two soldiers.
Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko, Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, said this in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Friday.

He recalled that on Thursday, troops on a clearance operation against criminals across the North-West zone got information on bandits’ attack in Unguwar Doka village, Faskari LGA of Kastina State.

Onyeuko said the Operation SAHEL SANITY operatives responded swiftly and mobilized to the general area.

“They successfully cleared the village of the marauders to the admiration of the locals. During the encounter, troops successfully neutralized 21 bandits while others escaped with gunshot wounds into the forest as evident by the trails of blood along the criminals’ escape route.

“The gallant troops successfully rescued 3 kidnapped victims including an 8 months old baby who have been in the custody of the criminals for more than 23 days. During the exploitation phase of the operation, the gallant troops recovered one AK 47 rifle, one AK 47 magazine and 3 Motorcycles from the fleeing bandits.

“Regrettably, resulting from the encounter with the bandits, one gallant officer and 2 soldiers paid the supreme sacrifice while 2 other soldiers were wounded in action and are currently receiving medical treatment in a military medical facility and responding positively.”

The statement added that troops have continued to pursue the bandits into the forest and dominate the general areas with aggressive fighting patrols to deny them any respite.

The military urged them not to rest on their oars until the region is completely rid of all criminal elements.

Onyeuko assured of the safety of lives and property and encouraged Nigerians to give timely and credible information.

Quote:*Disclaimer: Governor Kayode Fayemi, Other Purported 'Suspensions' a Nullity - APC*

The attention of the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to a purported and widely-reported "suspension" of the Governor of Ekiti State, H.E. Kayode Fayemi as well as an earlier reported "indefinite suspension" of some other party members in the state.

The actions are a nullity as the Party's National Secretariat is yet to receive communication from the state chapter on the purported "suspensions".

We strongly advise all members to adhere to our Party constitution.

Governor Kayode Fayemi remains the leader of the party in Ekiti State.

In line with the mandate of the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led APC Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee and the President's admonition to party members to ensure and support ongoing amicable and rancour-free settlement of internal party disputes, we call on our esteemed party members and leaders in Ekiti State to be duly guided.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Architect Paul Omotosho-chaired APC Ekiti State Working Committee is the authentic, valid and duly recognised Executive as no factions or divisions exist in the State Chapter.

#RevolutionNow organizers call for nationwide protest on October 1

The Coalition for Revolution (CORE), the organisers of the #RevolutionNow protest have called for a nationwide protest on October 1, Nigeria's Independence day.

According to the protest organizers, the nationwide protest will be against poor governance in Nigeria as they will be demanding a reversal of “anti-people policies implemented by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.”

The statement read;

Quote:“These harsh policies that have bored a burdensome hole into the pockets of the Nigerian people are coming at a time when citizens are recovering from the adverse effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, a global health crisis that was also mismanaged by the Buhari’s government further plunging already struggling citizens into deeper financial problems.

“It also comes at a time when there is an unprecedented dictatorial-style crackdown on free speech, dissent, activism, journalism and the right to associate and congregate peacefully and protest.

Amongst its demands, CORE clamoured for the reversal of the hike in the price of petrol from N148 to N151, an end to” “state-supervised and approved impunity under the watch of President Muhammadu Buhari” and the sacking of all service chiefs in the country due to their “proven incompetence in finding a lasting solution to the Boko Haram insurgency which has claimed and is still claiming the life of Nigerians daily.”

Mali Coup: Rtd.Colonel Bah Ndaw sworn in as Mali transition president (photos)

Rtd. Colonel Bah Ndaw, has been sworn in to head a transitional government in Mali following a coup last month by the Malian military.

He was sworn in during a ceremony held in the capital Bamako today, September 25, 2020.

The ceremony occurred with government officials dressed in military attires while senior judges, and foreign diplomats were also present.

A committee appointed by the military junta which seized power on August 18, after removing president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, selected Ndaw, a 70-year-old retired colonel, as interim president.

Ndaw alongside Colonel Assimi Goita, who led the military junta, will now transitionally lead for a maximum of 18 months before organising national elections.

During the ceremony, Supreme Court Chief Prosecutor Boya Dembele said the challenges facing both men were “enormous”.
“It will truly require a reformulation of the state,” said the judge, dressed in red fur-lined robes.

The 15-nation Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) slapped sanctions on the poor country on August 20 after the coup but following the new interim government.

ECOWAS might reduce the sanctions according to former Nigerian president and ECOWAS mediator Goodluck Jonathan.

Last month’s coup followed weeks of mass protests against Keita.
There has also been increased jihadist activity and high levels of corruption in the country.

Fani-Kayode Reacts To Suspension Of Fayemi From APC
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 09-25-2020, 04:29 PM - No Replies

Quote:A former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to the suspension of Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State and ally, from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Igbere TV had on Friday broke the news of the suspension of Gov Fayemi by a faction of the Ekiti APC led by Senator Tony Adeniyi, over alleged anti-party activities.

The APC said the governor was suspended due to “his numerous anti-party activities, especially his role in the recently concluded governorship election in Edo state” which saw the party losing out in the contest.

The party claimed that five days before the Edo election, Governor Fayemi hosted PDP big wig Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode in the government house in Ado-Ekiti and planned a coup against Edo APC.

"This is same Fani-Kayode who daily abuses President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the APC as a party as well a vital section of our country. We have evidence of that meeting.

"Fani-Kayode specifically said he has gone on his tour as part of an effort between him and Fayemi to build a cross-party alliance and few hours after leaving Ekiti he fired a shot at Asiwaju Tinubu", APC alleged.

But reacting in a statement made available to Igbere TV, on Friday, Fani-Kayode said suspending Gov Fayemi from the APC over his visit to him in Ekiti was absurd.

"Governor Kayode Fayemi is a loyal member of the APC whilst I am in PDP. Accusing him of "anti-party activities" & attempting to suspend him from his party simply because I visited him to discuss national & SW issues is absurd.

"Is it "anti-party" to meet with a friend of over 30 years? Is it "anti-party" to try and find ways to enhance national unity and cohesion?

"Is it "anti-party" to apttempt to engender peace in our nation & to build bridges across regional, ethnic, religious and party lines? Is it "anti-party" to practice politics without bitterness?

"We must accept the fact that talking to those thet we do not agree with politically is something that ought to be encouraged. Politics is not war!", the ex-Aviation minister added.

We paid N6m ransom each - Kidnapped FRSC officials accuse police spokesperson of lying

Six Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials who were recently released from their abductors have accused Nasarawa Police spokesman Ramham Nansel of lying about their release.

Ramham had said that no ransom was paid for their release. He was quoted saying;

Quote:"They were rescued by the security agencies comprising police and soldiers supported by vigilante groups and hunters."

However speaking to  BBC Hausa Service, the FRSC officials accused the police spokesperson of lying and also revealed that they paid between N5-6m each to secure their freedom.

One of them said;

Quote:“What the police are saying is a big lie, there is no element of truth in it, the kidnappers established contact with our relatives, the money was withdrawn in Nasarawa town.

“They instructed that only the driver should come with the money; when the driver brought the money, they kept us aside and counted it to ensure it was complete, but because it was getting dark, they did not finish and asked the driver to go with us while they also proceeded into the bush shooting in the air.”

Another victim whose leg was amputated as a result of the gunshot from the incident said;

Quote: “We paid ransom through our relatives before we were released; some paid N5m, others N6m.”

Reno’s Open Letter To Baroness Cox And Her Co-signers In Response To Garba Shehu

In Response To Garba Shehu’s Statement To The UK House of Lords and The Commonwealth Secretary-General

Open Letter To Baroness Cox, and Her Co-Signers

House of Lords,
Parliament of the United Kingdom
SW1

Dear Madam,

I write in reference to the statement given to the press by a spokesman of the Nigerian President, one Mr Garba Shehu, in which he disparaged your good selves, as well as Lt General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, a former Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, and tried to pass off his boss, as a caring statesman who is trying his best to bring peace to Nigeria.

I would urge you not to give any credence to the statement by Mr Shehu, who is well known in Nigeria as an agent of disinformation.

For example, in trying to discredit General Danjuma, Mr Shehu stated as follows:

“He was last in a government position 17 years ago in 2003 (as Minister of Defence). At that time, religious and ethnic riots erupted in two states of the federation, (2001 and 2002). These were violently and ruthlessly put down by the military under his authority, leading to the loss of thousands of lives and the displacement of some further 50,000 persons. He is, therefore, not a natural source of pressure for good governance.”

If the above is true, then that same action disqualifies Mr Garba Shehu himself, because he was a spokesman for that very same government, which he now disparages. He held the position of Special Assistant on Media at the Presidency at that material time, before he was sacked and later arrested, for actions that undermined that government and Nigeria’s national security interests.

He has remained bitter since his sack and lacks the capacity to offer an unbiased appraisal of that government that he served until he was booted out.

Garba Shehu will say anything to please his paymasters, and I call your attention to a statement he made on August 22, 2017, wherein, to explain away the long absence of General Buhari from his office (which was later discovered to be due to ill health), Mr Shehu claimed that rats and other rodents had occupied the President’s office and he was staying away from his office as a result!

Mr Shehu is a propagandist whose words have little or no value.

In any case, in keeping with the legal maxim that he who comes to equity must come with clean hands, Mr Shehu, has also, by his admission, shown that “He is, therefore, not a natural source of pressure for good governance” being that he served with Mr Danjuma in the government of President Olusegun Obasanjo, that he now disparages.

Furthermore, Mr Garba Shehu said:

“Our government is made equally of Christian and Muslim cabinet members. Our Vice President is an evangelical pastor.”

This is a lie, and Mr Shehu is known for this type of behaviour, which is known as Taqiyya, a deliberate disinformation, for religious purposes.

It is not true that the government of General Muhammadu Buhari is “made equally of Christian and Muslim”.

Under General Muhammadu Buhari, the heads of the three arms of government, namely the Executive, Judiciary, Legislature, are Northern Muslim males. This has never before happened in the history of Nigeria, until Buhari rose to power.

In addition to this, the entire Nigerian military is effectively controlled by Northern Muslim males. For example, the Minister of Defence, and the heads of the Army, Airforce, Police, DMI, DSS, EFCC, NIA, NCS, NPS, and 90% of the headship of Nigeria’s security agencies are all Northern Muslim males.

This administration is very good at window dressing, and will cite General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin, a Christian, who was appointed as the Chief of Defence Staff. Please be aware that this position is a desk position, with absolutely no real power. The powers are wielded the the National Security Adviser, the Minister of Defence, Chief of Army Staff, and others in actual command of troops. These are all, without exception, Northern Muslim males.

Mr Garba Shehu is a skilled misinformer. He lied when he said:

“When the government came to power, the terrorist group held and administered an area the size of Belgium. Now they hold none. The terrorists are hiding out amongst remote forests and across borders.”

This is not true. When General Buhari assumed power on May 29, 2015, Boko Haram had been defeated in Nigeria, which was why the 2015 elections held in every polling unit in Nigeria, including those in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states.

How could elections hold, if Boko Haram held the territories in which the elections were held? As a matter of fact, according to the Global Terrorism Index, Boko Haram is stronger today, than they were in 2015. You would be reminded that the GTI has no dog in this fight, and so have no reason to lie.

The truth, which Garba Shehu seeks to muddle up, is that General Buhari and his cronies have made comments and taken actions that show that they have sympathy for some of those responsible for the violence.

After emerging victorious in the 2015 election, General Buhari, at an event at the United States Institute for Peace, said on July 25, 2015, as follows:

“Constituents, for example, that gave me 97% cannot, in all honesty, be treated, on some issues, with constituencies that gave me 5%.”

He proved this, by sending thousands of soldiers to the areas where he got very little votes, to quash groups that were protesting peacefully, while treating groups in areas that he felt supported him with kid gloves.

For example, General Buhari sent only 300 policemen to stop the genocide against Christians in Southern Kaduna (where his crony, Governor El-Rufai, admitted paying killer herdsmen), and sent 30,000 policemen to Edo state, to help his crony, Mr Adams Oshiomhole, win elections.

Furthermore, on October 13, 2017, the President of the World Bank Group, Jim Yong Kim, said:

“You know, in my very first meeting with President Buhari he said specifically that he would like us to shift our focus to the northern region of Nigeria and we’ve done that. Now, it has been very difficult. The work there has been very difficult.”

What reason would the President of the World Bank have to lie against General Buhari?

So, in summary, I would urge the House of Lords, and the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland, not to fall for the Taqiyya manipulations of Garba Shehu, a man with no sense of honour, who now attacks the government that he once served, just to please his current paymasters.

Should the current Nigerian government’s tenure end, and a new and opposing one emerges, characters, like Garba Shehu, would once again change their tunes.

Obaseki Visits Buhari, Says It Will Be Immoral To Return To APC

Quote:Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Friday met with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The governor however told State House correspondents at the end of the meeting that it would be immoral for him to return to the All Progressives Congress.

Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party beat Osagie Ize-Iyamu of Buhari’s All Progressives Congress and others to win the last Saturday’s governorship election in his state.

He had dumped the APC for the PDP when the ruling party disqualified him from participating in its primary election.

There have been concerns that having won the election on the platform of the PDP, he might return to the APC.

But the governor who met with the President alongside his deputy, Philip Shuaibu, said it would be immoral to do so.

Obaseki and Shuaibu were joined on what they called the “thank you visit” to Buhari by their spouses and some lawmakers from the state.

Onyeka Onwenu has opened up about her relationship for the first time.

The ace singer and actress revealed that she got married to a Yoruba Muslim in 1984 and the union produced two sons named Tijani Ogunlende and Ibrahim Ogunlende. Ibrahim later changed his name to Abraham.

Ms Onwenu, who has always kept her life private, made this revelation in her new memoir titled 'My Father’s Daughter'.

In the autobiography, the 68-year-old movie star revealed how she fell in love decades ago and how the union produced her two sons — Tijani and Ibrahim.

"In this book, I am, perhaps for the very first time, setting the records straight with respect to my connubial relationship. Yes, I was married. I married a man I fell in love with in 1984," she said. "We have two children: Tijani and Ibrahim. (Ibrahim later changed the first letter of his name from I to A, and thus became Abraham.) My husband is Yoruba, and was a Muslim when we met."

The autobiography also documents her life as a musician, activist, wife, mother, and politician as well as her formative contact with feminism.

The author shared how the war — between 1967 to 1970 — affected her life and her family.

She also documents her years in America, the conflicts that were the products of being a migrant, her experience with workplace sexual harassment, and her decision to quit her job at the UN.

"On the marriage front, she explores challenges women face and how she refused to shrink herself to accommodate her husband’s insecurities about her fame,” Expand Press Limited, her publishers, said while describing the book.

"It’s a memoir young persons must read. Women especially will glean numerous lessons from her life experience since successful women in Nigeria rarely share their story in a candid manner."

Emirates Airlines is engaging the Federal Government on a flight ban extended to the Middle East carrier this week.

The carrier said it has opened lines of communication with the Ministry of Aviation towards resolving  the impasse insisting that it will give updates on the progress of the talks between the two countries.

The Federal Government at the weekend withdrew approval given to a Emirates Airlines to fly into Nigeria from yesterday.

In a reaction, the carrier said it was still committed to serving its teeming customers on the two Nigerian routes, Lagos and Abuja, to meeting the growing demand for air travel in and out of the countr y .

“Emirates remains committed to serving its two Nigerian points, Abuja and Lagos, to connect our customers to and through Dubai to Emirates’ global network, and meet the growing demand for air travel in and out of the country. Emirates is working closely with the UAE and Nigerian authorities, and will communicate any updates to our customers. We look forward to continue serving our customers in Nigeria.’’

The Federal  Government withdraw the approval to the airline following the refusal of United Arab Emirates (UAE) government to lift visa ban on Nigerians. The decision by the government was in compliance with its threat to reciprocate any maltreatment of Nigerians or her carriers  by any country or their airline.

Aviation Minister, Senator Hadi Sirika, who made this known, said,  the  decision to revoke the approval was arrived at after a meeting with the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to review the status of foreign carriers operating into Nigeria.

“The PTF Sub-committee met with EU Ambassadors to discuss Lufthansa, Air France/KLM ban.

The meeting progressed well. Emirates Airlines’s situation was reviewed and they are consequently included in the list of those not approved, with effect from Monday, September 21, 2020.”

Besides, Emirates Airlines,  another carrier African World Airways (AWA) from Accra, Ghana, has also been denied approval to fly into Nigeria.

The Ghanaian carrier sources said was banned by government on account of recent developments in Ghana where Nigerian trader were maltreated.

Oil, gas suppliers risk N320b loss
September 25, 2020

The Natural Oil and Gas suppliers Association of Nigeria (NOGASA) have pleaded with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) that theIran planned protest over the new petrol pump prices will make them lose N320billion.

In a statement that the association issued to reporters in Abuja yesterday, they said any reduction in the cost price will cause them losses.

They said : “The industry incurred heavy losses of over N320billion after purchasing products at government specified prices, only to be compelled to sell at reduced prices, which could not be justified by the costs of transaction.”

According to them, the last reduction in pump prices during the month of March at the height of the Covid-19 global pandemic, was disastrous for most business investors in the downstream sector.

NOGASA said many businesses have been dying in silence since the last downward review of pump prices.

The association said the adjustment caught its members unawares as government refused to inform them before the reduction was effected.

The statement noted that the Federal Governmwent failed to refund them the shortfall.
NOGASA said “Those losses were never refunded by the government and some companies were forced to shutdown operations and lay off workers.

“It is in light of these negative outcomes to the entire Nigerian economy that we appeal to the NLC/TUC to reconsider their proposed action over the increase in petroleum pump price and electricity rates by the government.

“We believe at that it will be counter- productive at this juncture, because it will create far more problems for workers and businesses that employ them than it seeks to solve.”

The statement also reads “NOGASA is seriously concerned about recent trends and developments in the down stream sector of the industry, which if not properly handled will adversely affect their businesses, workers and the Nigerian economy at large.

“Of most serious concern is the price instability plaguing the market.

Since the onset of Covid-19 , we have been hit hard with a very drastic downturn in business revenue which has been exacerbated by the unpredictability of the pricing regime for trading in PMS.”

According to the oil and gas suppliers, “For an already embattled sector to recover from the ravages of the Covid-19 global pandemic, we plead caution at this critical stage to avoid creating more problems than solutions – we seek to avoid actions that can trigger more lay offs, and loss of revenue to businesses and workers alike.

“There is a need to appreciate the fact that NOGASA are the employers of the workers in the Natural oil and gas downstream sector, and we increase our wages commensurately in response to the overall economy.

“Kindly remember also that: NOGASA sacrificed significant resources during the height of the Covid-19 Lockdown period to keep fuel supplies stable across the nation.
“We made sure that our members safeguarded the livelihoods of our workers by never opting to lay them off during those difficult months.

We don’t mind price reductions per se, and we believe it is possible to have much more reduced prices with full deregulation.

“Rather than government price control, we believe that the government should leave the prices of these products to be determined by market forces.

“The government should not be involved in price -fixing, particularly when we buy from their depots.

The truth also is that the government has a great deal of political and sociocultural variables to contend with to make efficient input in pricing.

“For the suppliers, it is a matter of investments and return on investments, and the way it stands now, growth in this sector is badly hampered because of heavy losses on investment.

“Indeed we agree whole heartedly with NLC that the government should repair our refineries and also allow others to build private ones to encourage a more robust competitive business environment.

“This will provide more jobs for workers and bring prices down. When there are a multiplicity of sources that are ready to provide the products and services, prices will naturally stabilise around the most efficient producers; to the benefit of the consumers and the entire economy.”

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State says there are alleged plans by the All Progressives Congress, APC, to compromise the Ondo governorship election.
Wike made the allegation in a post on his Twitter page on Friday morning.

The Governor accused the All Progressive Congress, APC, of putting pressure on INEC to rig the election following their defeat in Edo State last Saturday.
Recall that incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki defeated his closest challenger and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in the election.

His tweet read: “After the defeat of @OfficialAPCNg in Edo State there is enormous pressure on @inecnigeria to compromise the Ondo election for @OfficialAPCNg.

“I am concerned INEC would cave in to the pressure.”
The Ondo State governoship election is expected to hold on Oct. 10, 2020.

US To Restrict Nigerian Students To 2-Year Courses Over National Security

US Moves To Restrict Nigerian Students To Two-Year Courses Over ‘National Security’

Quote:Foreign students including Nigerians could be restricted to admission into US universities for not more than a two-year period, a proposed government policy has shown.

This comes a few months after a failed plan to strip international students of their visas if they are not required to attend some classes in person, during coronavirus lockdown, in July.

The new guidelines from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), if approved, mean affected students will be barred from four-year courses in the US.

It was not immediately clear if Nigerian students currently studying in the US would be affected.

In the new measures published in the US federal register and scheduled for announcement on Friday, the DHS proposed a “maximum admission period of up to 2 years for certain students”, including those from Nigeria.

Among the countries targeted in the new policy are those on the US “State sponsor of terrorism list” and students from countries that visitors have overstay rate of more than 10 percent.

The DHS 2019 overstay report puts Nigeria’s in-country overstay rate at 11.12 percent; most African countries are also above the 10 percent maximum rate.

“A key goal of shifting aliens in F status from D/S to an admission for a fixed time period is to provide pre-defined time periods for immigration officers to evaluate whether a nonimmigrant has maintained his or her status,” the DHS said.

“If an immigration officer finds that an alien violated his or her status prior to or during the course of an EOS adjudication and denies the EOS request, the alien generally would begin accruing unlawful presence the day after issuance of the denial.”

It also said that the proposed rule seeks to reduce instances in which F, J, and I nonimmigrants — mostly students and exchange visitors — “unlawfully remain in the United States after their program or practical training ends.”

“Under this proposed rule, aliens who remain in the United States beyond a fixed time period generally would begin accruing unlawful presence,” it said.

Following the coronavirus pandemic, the Trump administration was in July forced to abandon a plan to strip international students of their visas if they are not required to attend some classes in person.

APC Suspends Kayode Fayemi Over Anti-Party Activities
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 09-25-2020, 12:26 PM - No Replies

Quote:The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State worsened on Friday, September 25, as a faction of the party led by Senator Tony Adeniyi, suspended Governor Kayode Fayemi over alleged anti-party activities.

This is coming barely 24 hours after another faction loyal to the governor suspended Senator Babafemi Ojudu, special adviser on political matters to the president; Oyetunde Ojo, son-in-law to APC national leader Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and nine others from the party.

Igbere TV had reported how the APC hinged their suspension on "the recommendation" of the investigative/disciplinary committee inaugurated to investigate their alleged disobedience of the directive that party members should not institute any court action, and to withdraw existing cases in court.

On Friday, however, the Senator Adeniyi-led faction suspended Governor Fayemi from the APC, alleging that no Ward Congress has taken place in the state since inception of the party, insisting that the governor’s faction was illegal.

Adeniyi, who represented Ekiti South senatorial district between 2011 and 2015, said he was made Acting Chairman of the Ekiti APC owing to the “absence of direction or directive from the National Body” and was adjudged as “the only one thus capable to call the SEC(State Executive Council) meeting as duly required by the constitution from henceforth.”

According to the suspension notice made available to Igbere TV, in Ado-Ekiti, on Friday, the SEC meeting which suspended Fayemi, was held on Tuesday, September 23, 2020, in accordance with Section 12.8 of APC Constitution.

The APC accuse Faayemi of anti-party roles in the Sept. 19 Edo governorship election, which saw the party losing out in the contest. The party also said Fayemi has colluded with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State in his bid for 2023 vice presidential candidate under the PDP, if his bid for presidential candidate in APC fails.

RE: DR. KAYODE FAYEMI ANTI–PARTY ACTIVITIES

After painstakingly reviewing the activities of some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, we the authentic members of the Party in the State and Members of State Executive Committee per Section 12.8 of APC Constitution being duly constituted members of the National Convention of the Party, rose from its meeting of the 23rd September, 2020 and resolved as follows:

1. We note the continued illegalities in the name of the party, being conducted by Dr. Kayode Fayemi, who as Governor is an ordinary member of the SEC and ought to have called meetings of this duly constituted body as a critical party organ, has failed to do so since his assumption of office in 2018.

2.That the body currently masquerading as the elected members of the SEC or as the State Working Committee or appendages is unknown to us (as due statutory members of SEC) since no Ward Congress has taken place in Ekiti State APC since inception. All SEC members listed in Section 12.8 of our constitution, (i) to (xxvii) as such are open positions since only duly officiated Ward congresses with INEC observation can fill these positions.

3.As such, only the duly elected members of the APC in the state serving as Governor, Deputy Governor, Speaker & Deputy Speaker as well as Principal Officers of the House and Members of the National Convention which includes all present and past National Assembly members today constitute the State SEC of our great party.

4.To this end, in the absence of a properly organized body and meeting, and the continued insistence of the Governor to neglect his duty to initiate Ward Congresses or call a meeting of the SEC to deliberate upon pertinent issues, we as loyal members of our party and members of the State Executive Committee met to rescue our party from continued denigration and abuse, and resolved thus:

1.That Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State is hereby suspended from the Party in view of his numerous anti-Party activities especially his role in the recent concluded governorship election in Edo State which is contrary to the provisions of Article 21 (A) (ii) of the APC Constitution.
For five days prior to the Edo elections Gov Fayemi hosted PDP big wig Mr Femi Fani- Kayode in the government house in Ado Ekiti in the run up to the Edo elections . It was here they perfected the coup against our party in Edo State. This is same Fani-Kayode who daily abuses President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the APC as a party as well a vital section of our country. We have evidence of that meeting.

Fani-Kayode specifically said he has gone on his tour as part of an effort between him and Fayemi to build a cross-party alliance and few hours after leaving Ekiti he fired a shot at Asiwaju Tinubu.

1 (a) We also have evidence of celebration by his aides in Ekiti government house and on social media.

1(b) We also recall his role in the gubernatorial election in Oyo State where he supported the PDP candidate to defeat the APC candidate. A second tranche of money he sent to Gov Makinde in the election was intercepted by soldiers. The courier Mr Ayo Adegbite, his Chief Protocol Officer was arrested and he immediately disowned and announced his sack . Mr Adegbite remains his aide till date.

1© We also recall the support he provided a PDP candidate who challenged an APC Senator Prince Dayo Adeyeye in the Tribunal. He moved the judges to Kaduna to deliver judgement when he knew what he planned against his party was unpopular in Ekiti. We have more to tell on this betrayal and traitorous act of his. APC Senator is out of the Senate today and PDP is in. The relationship between Fayemi and Senator Olujimi of PDP , the beneficiary of his treachery is known to all in Ekiti State.

We also recall his resort to court when majority of party members nominated late Senator Abiola Ajimobi for Deputy National Chairman of the party. He fought Ajimobi till death.

1(d) His fraternisation with the PDP in continuation of his bid for Vice Presidential candidate under the party ( if his bid for Presidential candidate in APC fails ) was masked by commissioning of projects in Rivers State, a smokescreen for his consultation to woo the support of Governor Nyesom Wike last year .

2. That the Paul Omotosho led faction of APC Executive in the State is hereby declared illegal and suspended from the Party for failure to emerge in accordance to the Constitution of the Party.

3.That Paul Omotoso and his co travellers’s refusal to respect court proceedings in which they are not only joined but appeared in court through the proceedings but defiantly disrespected the court contrary to the hallowed decision of the Supreme Court in OJUKWU vs GOVERNOR OF LAGOS STATE

4.That Paul Omotosho faction of the executive should desist from parading themselves as the Executive Members of the Party in the State and that the Nigerian Police and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the general public should take note.

5.That Senator Tony Adeniyi, as a statutory member of the SEC going by our party’s constitution, was elected by all members attending as the Acting Chairman of the State Executive Committee in the absence of direction or directive from the National Body. He is as such the only one thus capable to call the SEC meeting as duly required by the constitution from henceforth.

6.The committee seating also agreed to begin bridge building across our members, statewide and nationally, and set up a special intervention committee, APC Majeobaje Working Group, to be led by Prince Bamgboye Adegoroye, and six other individuals from across our great state. That working group will henceforth do the hard work of rebuilding APC in Ekiti state and prevent the oncoming annihilation of our party if we take no action at the upcoming polls.

We note that the All Progressives Congress is a party of progressives, and must do things only in line with the law. The APC cannot act against its constitution or the law of the land, hence this intervention became urgently necessary and pertinent before marauders destroy the party permanently.

It must be emphasized that with the increasingly discerning capacity and sophistication of our people we cannot afford to take them for granted. We must be able to sustain the relevance of our party in Ekiti State, hold our members and win new members. We are obligated to ensure that the light of our electoral prospect and fortune is not dimmed or extinguished.

Signed:
For Ekiti State APC State Executive Committee
