Nigerian woman delivers a baby girl five months after giving birth to a set of twins

In an extremely rare case in Nigeria, a woman has reportedly given birth to a baby girl five months after delivering a set of twins.

According to Enate Ogedegbe who officiated the naming ceremony of the children on Sunday, October 4, along with one pastor Daniel Osierih, the woman was childless seven years after her marriage.

Four years ago, she gave birth to a set of twins. On April, 2020, she delivered another set of twins after which she started experiencing pain in her stomach.

Initial scan revealed nothing. Three months after the birth of the twins she went for another scan at Island Maternity in Lagos where it was confirmed she was pregnant.

On September 18, 2020, five months after the birth of the twins, she delivered a baby girl. Read details below:

"My ‘Co-Laborer’ Pastor Daniel Osierih and I, had the Privilege to Minister and Officiate at this Naming ceremony.

The Couple had been Childless for 7 years, then God gave them Twins (a boy and girl), Who are 4 years now.

They had another set of Twin girls in April 2020 (during the Lockdown), ....after which, the Mother started Experiencing Terrible Pains in her stomach, the Scans Revealed NOTHING. So she engaged a ‘Local Ijaw’ woman to massage her stomach several times a week.

After 3 months, the Ijaw Woman indicated she suspected there was still a baby in her womb, and asked her to go for Another Scan, which she did at the Island Maternity Lagos State.

That was how they discovered this THIRD baby Girl, that she Delivered Safely on the 18th of September, 2020. (Her husband was abroad during the Lockdown and only returned last week).
Is there a Medical Explanation for this?
God is Faithful...!

Man is jailed for puncturing condom with a pin before having sex with woman

A man has been jailed for rape after he punctured a condom before having sex with a woman.

Andrew Lewis, 47, used a pin to make a hole in the contraceptive to trick the victim on March 10, 2018, a court heard.

The train driver received a four-year sentence at Worcester Crown Court on October 2 after admitting rape at an earlier hearing.

Glyn Samuel, prosecuting, said the woman had found the pin and other pierced condoms in a bedside draw. She checked the used condom in the bin and saw the hole.

The woman described the act as "pure evil" to police later that year.

Mr Samuel said: "He told police he had hoped the condom would split and it would improve the intimacy.

"He said it was the stupidest thing he has ever done. In piercing the condom beforehand there was a degree of planning involved."

Mr Samuel added there was little case law to help Judge Nicholas Cole with the sentence.

Lynette McClement, defending, said Lewis, from Worcester, wanted to enhance intimacy, not get the woman pregnant.

Ms McClement said: "She had every right to choose her form of contraception. He had hoped it would tear, and as a result she would change her mind. It is an unusual case."

Sentencing him, Judge Cole said the woman had made it plain she did not want a baby.

She had given consent as long as Lewis wore the condom, so it had been a devious act.

The judge said: "It was a breach of trust. The offence of rape is so serious a custodial sentence is appropriate."

I have no enemies to fight - Former President Goodluck Jonathan accepts Shagari son’s apology over supporting Buhari in 2015 election

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has accepted Shehu Shagari son’s apology over supporting Buhari in 2015 election.

Aminu Shagari, a three-term House of Representatives member had recalled how he helped to ensure that President Muhammadu Buhari emerged victorious in the 2015 Presidential election even though he participated in a coup that took down his father's (Shagari) government in 1983.

In the interview with Punch, the former President's son accused President Buhari of not fulfilling his promise of immortalizing his father. He also recounted how he helped divide the People's Democratic Party to bring down Jonathan's government.

Recalling some of the things that allegedly occurred after his father's death, Aminu said in the interview;

Quote:"We gave him the condolence register. He only signed and put the date. Personally, I was very disappointed with that. I expected that at least, as Muslim, he would write, ‘May Allah forgive him and may Allah forgive us when our time comes.’ That makes me extremely disappointed in him.

“I was never contacted and the Presidency has not contacted our family, to the best of my knowledge. Nothing has changed; the only thing I remember is that, at a campaign rally in Bauchi, after his visit to our father’s residence in Sokoto, prayers were offered for my dad. This probably was an afterthought following the backlash that followed his (Buhari) mere signing of the condolence register, with no written or verbal condolence message.

“This is somebody we really supported, campaigned for and mobilised people for his election because we obediently adhered to our father’s dictate to forgive and let bygone be bygone.

The same Muhammadu Buhari, in the condolence letter he gave the state governor (Aminu Waziri Tambuwal), promised to immortalise our dad. Close to two years after his death, he has yet to fulfil his promise. Whereas he recently named certain landmarks after some Nigerians who are still alive, including former President Goodluck Jonathan.

“Let me use this opportunity to tender a public apology to former President Jonathan and seek forgiveness because I helped to divide the Peoples Democratic Party and bring down his government, but, I have found out that what we thought about his stewardship was not entirely true. I expect President Buhari to also ask for forgiveness having found out that most of the things he accused my dad’s and President Jonathan’s administrations of are not true.”

Reacting to Aminu Shagari's apology via a Facebook post, Goodluck Jonathan averred that he has no enemies to fight. He also urged Aminu to emulate his father who he described as one of the "most detribalized Nigerians".

Jonathan wrote;

Quote:Thank you for your apology. However, I never took offence. My firm belief is that I am a pencil in the Hand of God.

Therefore, I have no enemies to fight, because of my confidence that people can only do to me what God permits. I urge you to continue to emulate the humility of your father, the late President Shehu Shagari, a most detribalised Nigerian. May God bless you. GEJ

Kayleigh McEnany Test Positive For COVID-19
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany tested positive for COVID-19, she said Monday, making her the latest person in President Trump's orbit to contract the virus.

"After testing negative consistently, including every day since Thursday, I tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday morning while experiencing no symptoms. No reporters, producers or members of the press are listed as close contacts by the White House Medical Unit," she said in a statement.

"As an essential worker, I have worked diligently to provide needed information to the American people at this time," she continued. "With my recent positive test, I will begin the quarantine process and will continue working on behalf of the American people remotely."

The press secretary is the latest person close to Trump to test positive for COVID-19. Trump himself tested positive late Thursday and has been undergoing treatment at Walter Reed Medical Center since Friday after experiencing symptoms.

Others in the president's circle who have tested positive include one of his closest aides, Hope Hicks; his campaign manager, Bill Stepien; three Republican U.S. senators; and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who assisted Trump with preparation before last week's presidential debate.

Many of those who have tested positive, including McEnany, attended a White House event on Sept. 26 during which Trump announced Amy Coney Barrett as his nominee to the Supreme Court.

White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, who has tested negative thus far, acknowledged Friday that there were likely to be more coronavirus cases among White House officials following Trump's diagnosis.

McEnany did not travel with Trump to a fundraiser in New Jersey on Thursday after learning of Hicks's test result, but she denied in her statement that she knew Hicks had tested positive when she spoke to reporters from the briefing room podium on Thursday morning.

The press secretary was seldom spotted wearing a mask for the last several months, even as public health experts said it was one of the most effective ways to limit transmission of COVID-19. After Trump revealed he had tested positive, McEnany was spotted with a mask on waiting for him to depart for the hospital on Marine One.

But on Sunday, McEnany briefly fielded questions on the White House driveway without wearing a face covering

Groom 'beats new bride to death' for “behaving incorrectly” with a guest at their wedding party

A wedding party ended in tragedy after a new bride was beaten to death by the groom in front of terrified guests in Russia.

Stepan Dolgikh, 33, has been arrested on suspicion of beating wife Oksana Poludentseva, 36, to death on the day they got married in Novosibirsk.

Witnesses at the wedding said the beating began when the groom became 'jealous' of another guest at their alcohol-fuelled wedding party in a private house in Prokudskoye village, Novosibirsk region.

It was alleged he accused his new wife of “behaving incorrectly” with the guest.

Chief investigator Kirill Petrushin told NGS news agency: 'He began to punch and kick her outside the house.'

'He continued to attack her inside the house. He grabbed her by the hair, hit her, pushed her out into the street, where he also continued to strike her body and head.'

When she appeared lifeless 'he dumped her into a nearby ravine'.

Other guests were reportedly too scared to intervene but they were able to call law enforcement to the scene and the groom was arrested by the Russian National Guard.

Dolgikh confessed to the killing, said Petrushin, senior regional detective of the Russian Investigative Committee.

'He beat her for a long time, in front of witnesses, and struck her vital organs - in the torso and head,' he told journalists. 'He fully admitted guilt during the investigation.

'As for repentance.... I cannot comment. I personally do not believe he repented.'

He said: 'In a state of alcoholic intoxication, due to jealousy, he developed a hostile attitude towards his wife.

'He was jealous of one of the guests. It seemed to her husband that she behaved incorrectly, which caused a scandal.'

The bride got to know Dolgikh while he was in prison for murder and robbery and believed that she could help to reform him, police said.

'The deceased woman knew about his criminal record,' said Petrushin. 'They met while he was serving a sentence in prison for previous crimes.'

He added: 'She did not think that while drinking alcohol or just in a fit of anger, a person like this may go over the limit and commit a serious crime.'

Two women strangle their brother's 2-year-old son to death, hide body in wardrobe

Two women were arrested on Monday, October 5, or allegedly smothering their two-year-old nephew over "jealousy" with his mother in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida, India.

The child was killed on September 29 by her two aunts, who had then covered his body in a blanket and hid it in a wardrobe inside their house, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Noida, Harish Chander said.

"The child had gone missing and on September 29, the family had approached the local Surajpur police station where a case for 'missing' was lodged in connection with the matter and probe taken up," Chander said.

Later that night, the toddler's body was recovered from the wardrobe and taken to a hospital where doctors confirmed death and stated asphyxiation as the cause, the officer said.

"The matter was investigated and the two aunts were interrogated based on evidence suggesting their role. The two women have confessed to killing the child and have been arrested," he claimed.

The incident took place when accused Pinki, who is married and is the elder sister of co-accused Rinki, had visited her parent's house. Both siblings, around 30 years of age, told police that they were upset with the child's mother Sapna, wife of their brother, over her attitude towards them, according to the police.

They were also "jealous" of Sapna as their brother took her side and often taunted the sisters on various issues, giving rise to hatred among them that led to the extreme step by the duo, the police said.

An FIR has been lodged against them at the Surajpur police station under Indian Penal Code sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence), the police added.

APC Denies Plans To Replace Sanwo-olu With Abiru In 2023
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-05-2020, 03:48 PM - No Replies

Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Quote:The Lagos state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday said reports that Tokunbo Abiru, the party’s candidate for Lagos East senatorial  district bye-election is scheming to replace Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in 2023 is the handiwork of  the opposition in the state.

Seye Oladejo, the party’s Publicity Secretary  who said the APC is focused on the bye election scheduled for October 31, added that the aim of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is to cause disaffection in the APC and distract Governor Sanwo-Olu from delivering the dividends of democracy to Lagosians who overwhelmingly for him in the 2019 general elections.

“The report that Abiru is being prepped to replace Governor Sanwo-Olu in 2023 came from the camp of opposition because we won't have a governorship election until the next two and half years. So, our party and Abiru as a candidate is focusing on the assignment at hand”.

“The opposition will want to throw a spanner on the wheel to cause disaffection in the ruling party, perhaps that's why they remain as permanent opposition in Lagos State”.

“But nothing can be farther from the truth, Abiru is focusing on the ticket he got from APC and I enjoy some personal relationship with him and I can tell you that he is not even thinking beyond the present mandate he has. But it will suit the propaganda of the PDP to say that somebody is being prepped up to take over from the governor and you can see that the governor didn't even respond to that”.

Oladejo also said despite the challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Sanwo-Olu has been able to surpass the expectations of Lagosians in key areas of governance.
According to him, the pandemic brought out the best in the governor as the way he managed the situation earned him applause both from within and outside the country.

“Governor Sanwo-Olu has been able to surpass the expectations of the majority of Lagosians in the past one year. When one is coming into government, a lot of unexpected and unpredictable issues play themselves up”.
“ The pandemic threw up the leadership quality in the governor, he was on top of it in words and action. Lagosians were able to leverage on that and have confidence in the government they elected”.
“To put the icing on the cake, he was always communicating, doing daily briefing twice or thrice in a week; making sure Lagosians are abreast of the plans of the government to ameliorate situations, provide medicals and support at all levels”.

“Let's take the pandemic out, which has been more or less a big distraction to his governance. Since the pandemic has been easing out, we are all aware of lots of activities going on in the government under the THEME agenda. Just last week, 255 roads and power projects across the state have been approved, reaching out to the grassroots”.

“These are impactful projects and not propaganda. I even feel the government is not saying enough about activities going on in the seat of government in Alausa; he remains a silent worker and achiever and I'm very sure the majority of Lagosians are very happy and proud that they voted him in as a governor”.

“Of course, he will and can do better and as the resources of the state continue to permit him, he will reach out to all the nooks and crannies of the state even surpassing the achievements of his predecessors which will be a thing of pride”.

On the criticism by the PDP that the governor is working at snail’s speed, the APC said the governor has refused to be distracted but focused on delivery of democratic dividends, adding that he has refused to get involved in political issues in the APC except the election in Ondo where is heading the campaign for the party.

“The opposition is in the business blabbing but we are in the business of delivery of our promises to the people. The governor has simply refused to be distracted by the opinion of a few frustrated oppositions.  He is not even meddling in the politics of APC, apart from the recent assignment where he is heading the campaign of the reelection of his colleague governor in Ondo State”.

“ You can see he has rolled up his sleeves, focusing on his work, you won't find the governor respond to any comment or opinion of the opposition; that's the business of the party and which we are up to”.

“Remember he dropped the appellation 'his excellency'  which means that when he's all done and dusted, people can now decide if he's worthy of being called by the title. For me, that speaks so much of humility and determination about someone who is really committed to perform and deliver on his mandate” he said.

Which I begged her and you promised never to lay your horrible hands on her.

She has lost so many jobs because of you

She has lost so many friendships because of you

You never wanted her to be friends or to even talk to anyone

You will turn the lights off beat her and pour her water even record her and threaten to post it online.

You broke her ring light

Broke her phone

Dragged her right infront of your house

I know how many times I’ve had to order Uber to take her home

lhilfrosh you are very wicked

I’m tired of trying to protect your image while you continually ruin her and break her into pieces.

She called one day crying that you were going to kill her and actually you were truly locking her inside preparing to beat not until I called her mom

You even recorded her naked !! Threatening to post it after beating her bro lhilfrosh you better be ready

You will pay for this !!!

We are tired

Akeredolu vs Jegede: Makinde warns security agencies, dares APC

on

Ondo Governor, Seyi Makinde, has cautioned security agencies ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State.

Makinde is the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Campaign Council.

On Sunday, he vowed that the party would prevent the All Progressives Congress (APC) from using violence to truncate the will of the people.

He spoke after a meeting with the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) deployed for the election and the Commissioner of Police.

Makinde appealed to PDP supporters to remain resolute in their preparedness to vote en-masse for Eyitayo Jegede, the governorship candidate.
He advised security agencies to be neutral and expressed confidence that the APC would be sent out of the Government House in Alagbaka on Saturday.

In a statement by his spokesman, Taiwo Adisa, Makinde said the PDP and its flagbearer have been working hard to convince the electorate on their programmes.

He pointed out that the Governor Rotimi Akeredolu administration has brought hardship upon the people.
The governor added that the ruling party has shown desperation to retain the state despite its failures.
Makinde vowed that PDP would not sit idly and watch the APC harass the electorate.

He insisted that the opposition and Jegede have run an issue-based campaign.

“The APC led administration has brought their characteristic pain and suffering upon the people of Ondo State. And the people have decided it is time for them to go. However, we have noticed how in the past few weeks, our supporters have become targets of violent attacks from APC thugs,” he said.

Makinde recalled the attack on PDP campaign train at Akoko and the subsequent ambush at Irele.
He regretted that Jegede was held hostage and nearly prevented from entering the town.

The PDP campaign leader also condemned the shootings at Owo and latest skirmishes in Akure, the state capital.

Makinde accused the APC of acting as if holding on to government is more important than securing the lives of indigenes and residents.

“They are willing to set Ondo State on fire if that is what it would take for them to retain Alagbaka. We will not sit back and watch our supporters, and indeed any of the electorates intimidated. We will use all legal means at our disposal to ensure that our people are safe. We appeal to them not to allow the threat unleashed by the APC to affect their resolve.

“We must all come out on October 10 to send the APC and their representatives out of the Government House. You must all come out, vote and defend your votes. As my good friend and our candidate Eyitayo Jegede would say: ‘We are more than them. We are much more than they are.’ We cannot allow them to silence us,” he added.

Makinde commended the Police for providing security for Jegede.

“History and posterity have never been kind to anyone who allowed themselves to be used as a tool for injustice. We urge you to read the mood of the people and act accordingly. Politicians may come and go, but the people will always remain. Remember, the world is watching”, he told the AIG and the CP.

Buhari will not restructure Nigeria – Presidency replies Adeboye, others

on
 October 5, 2020

The Presidency has reacted to the renewed calls by some individuals and socio-ethnic groups to restructure Nigeria.

Buhari in a statement signed by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, said his administration will not succumb to threats and undue pressure over the matter.

This is coming days after Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG urged President Muhammadu Buhari to restructure Nigeria to avoid the possibility of break up.

Some socio-cultural groups including Ohaneze Ndigbo and Afenifere, as well as Niger Delta agitators and individuals have renewed the call for restructuring of Nigeria.

Buhari dismissed the recurring threats as unpatriotic outbursts, adding that the government would not take any decision against the interest of 200 million Nigerians.

Part of the statement read: ”The Presidency responds to the recurring threats to the corporate existence of the country with factions giving specific timelines for the President to do one thing or another or else, in their language, “the nation will break up.”

”This is to warn that such unpatriotic outbursts are unhelpful and unwarranted as this government will not succumb to threats and take any decision out of pressure at a time when the nation’s full attention is needed to deal with the security challenges facing it at a time of the Covid-19 health crisis.

”Repeat: this administration will not take any decision against the interests of 200 million Nigerians, who are the President’s first responsibility under the constitution, out of fear or threats especially in this hour of health crisis.”

Buhari added that as an elected leader under this constitution, he would continue to work with patriotic Nigerians in line with the Parliamentary processes to finding solutions to issues affecting the growth and wellbeing of the nation and its people.

Ondo Election 2020: Eyitayo Jegede Will Defeat Akeredolu – Tambuwal
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-05-2020, 12:27 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has said that Eyitayo Jegede will emerge winner of Saturday’s Ondo governorship election.

Jegede is up against Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Chairman of the Forum and Sokoto Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, spoke on Sunday through the body’s Director-General, C.I.D. Maduabum.

Maduabum quoted Tambuwal as saying PDP governors were united in ensuring that Jegede becomes the next Ondo helmsman.

He also mention that that the Senior Advocate of Nigeria’s experience, dynamism and programmes will return the State to glory days.

Tambuwal criticize those suggesting that PDP governors were not supporting Jegede.

He called them fifth columnists afraid of the popularity of the party’s candidate and triumph.

“Nothing can stop the march of progress in Ondo. Jegede’s victory is one whose time has come. The Forum speaks with one voice and this naked attempt to sow division and discord within its ranks has failed miserably.

2023: Tinubu Quietly Opens Campaign Headquarters In Abuja
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-05-2020, 12:25 PM - No Replies

Quote:Bola Tinubu has quietly opened a campaign headquarters in a Maitama property that once housed a private school, Peoples Gazette can report, all but confirming his entry into the 2023 presidential race.

The 2,700 square metres property, former home of Eagle Heights International Schools, sits just north of the Philippines Embassy at 2, Kainji Crescent and just across the street from Body of Benchers, which regulates admission into Nigerian legal education institutions.

The property was secured for two years at N15 million per annum, a good deal in the exquisite neighbourhood that is credited more to Mr. Tinubu’s influence than fortitude, according to campaign officials familiar with its financial commitments.

There were no immediate signs from outside that the property holds Mr. Tinubu’s campaign office, but sources within the campaign told the Gazette that activities have intensified inside for the former Lagos governor’s presidential bid.

A campaign insider told the Gazette that the office was deliberately tucked between at the conspicuous intersection of Kainji Crescent and Lake Chad Crescent because they needed a place that would provide just enough space needed to run the primaries exploration.

Depending on how activities expand ahead of primaries and general elections, the campaign may still move to a location in downtown neighbourhoods like Garki, Central Area or Wuse, our sources said.

A spokesman for Mr. Tinubu did not return requests for comments from the Gazette Monday morning.

Team emerges

Mr. Tinubu has long been rumoured to be interested in running for president, but he has sparingly obfuscated questions around his ambition and clearly has not begun open consultation as an aspirant.

But his supporters have been coordinating in Lagos, Abuja and elsewhere to work towards a seamless strategy that will see him clinch the APC presidential ticket, the Gazette learnt.

Abiodun Faleke, a senior federal lawmaker fabled for his acerbic take on parliamentary business, is a key coordinator of the new campaign office and will likely play a top role in Mr. Tinubu’s run, the Gazette heard from sources involved in emerging decisions within Mr. Tinubu’s political circles.

Mr. Tinubu’s circles are confident of his chances, but they could not tell yet whether or not they would address the numerous corruption allegations against him before the primaries.

Although he has no active corruption trials pending against him, and has previously been extricated by an anti-corruption tribunal, Mr. Tinubu nonetheless continues to face some of the most unsavoury, enduring corruption perceptions in Nigeria.

Tinubu and Bullion Van

His decision to order bullion vans bearing cash into his private residence on the eve of last year’s general elections has continued to haunt him and his family, with Deji Adeyanju and other anti-graft campaigners describing it as primitive and petitioning the EFCC — which has so far been too timid to take action.

Dog-eat-dog primaries

A career accountant with a track record in several professional services firms, including Arthur Anderson and Deloitte, Mr. Tinubu was first elected to the Senate in a wave that sought to drive the military out of power in 1992.

He became a pro-democracy campaigner following annulment of the presidential election that was held at the time, and even spent time in exile. He returned home to join the process for civil rule in 1999, winning the Lagos governorship election first that year and again in 2003.

Mr. Tinubu is financially stable enough for his presidential run, and one of his aides told the Gazette that his fund-raising ability will be bolstered by his vast political and business ties. He also holds the unofficial but influential APC national leader role and a key decider in the alliance that brought President Muhammadu Buhari to power in 2015.

Sources said the former Lagos governor will have a stiff competition in the APC field. Potential candidates include Kayode Fayemi, Ibikunle Amosun, Rotimi Amaechi and Godswill Akpabio, although neither has publicly disclosed interest in the race.

Mr. Tinubu has previously sidestepped questions about whether or not he would run, preferring instead to keep his cards to himself and his trusted allies.

The manoeuvre is largely typical of Nigerian politicians in the early days, and Mr. Buhari was only sworn in for a second term last May — leaving roughly two and a half years before Nigeria would have another leader.

But the revelation that Mr. Tinubu has now secured a property for his presidential run could compel other potential candidates to intensify their exploration, an APC strategist Sarah Namdas told the Gazette Sunday night.

“They are all looking forward to a dog-eat-dog race and will be closely monitoring each other’s strategic moves,” Ms. Namdas said.

Ms. Namdas said Mr. Tinubu would be ready to play dirty, but he would count on Mr. Buhari’s support because realising his presidential ambition can only come from winning the party’s tickets.

“Since he was a major factor in how the president came to power in 2015, he would ordinarily count on the president’s support,” Ms. Namdas said. “Whether the president would see the next election as Bola Tinubu’s turn is what all of us in the party cannot wait to see."

Pastor Adeboye mocks Fashola over Nigerian roads

The General Overseer the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, has mocked the minister of works, Mr. Babatunde Fashola over statement that Nigerian roads are not too bad.

The senior pastor lamented the decay of infrastructure in the country.

DAILY POST reported that Fashola had insisted that Nigerian roads are not as bad as being portrayed.

The former Lagos Governor stated this while addressing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

“The roads are not as bad as they are often portrayed. I know that this is going to be your headline, but the roads are not that bad,” Fashola had said.

Addressing his congregation on Sunday, Pastor Adeboye said, “I travel a lot on Nigerian roads and when I travel by road particularly, I understand when someone says the roads are not completely bad.

“I understand that it is a true statement because the roads are not just very bad; they do not exist anymore. It is a road that exists that can be classified as very bad.

“I have travelled within towns and distances that I used to cover within 15 minutes now take up to an hour. Our stagnation must come to an end.”

Security guard arrested in Ogun state over alleged plan to rob and kill his manager

The Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 47-year-old security guard attached to a fuel station over alleged plan to rob and kill his manager

The suspect, Adamu Ibrahim, engaged as a security guard at Inspiration Fuel Station, in Matogun area of Agbodo in Ifo Local Government Council Area of Ogun State, allegedly contracted two street urchins, Ajibola Yusuf and Bakare Ifakayode, to rob the station's manager of the N3million in his possession and kill him.

It was gathered that the suspect gave the area boys the description of the man, the motorcycle the manager was to ride on as well as his route and instructed them to ensure that he was killed so as to leave no traces for suspicion.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident in a statement said the street urchins notified the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Agbado Division, SP Kehinde Kuranga, who urged them to play along with the security man while detailing his crack detectives to mount surveillance around the spot

"Adamu Ibrahim was arrested following a report at the Station by the duo of Ajibola Yusuf and Bakare Ifakayode to the effect that, they received series of phone calls from the suspect that the manager of the fuel station would be leaving the Station at about 8:00pm with huge amount of money running to Three million naira," Oyeyemi stated.

"They reported further that the suspect gave a description of their intended target alongside his motorcycle, instructing them to ambush, rob him of the money and kill him so as not to trace the incident to them. They stated further that the suspect believed that, being area boys, they would be useful for him to realize his devilish plan; but averred that being area boys, was not enough to introduce them to armed robbery",

He continued: "The DPO, Agbado Division asked them to continue playing along with the suspect while he detailed his detectives to be on the suspect's trail. Unknown to him that policemen were on his trail, he continued calling the duo, telling them the description of the manager and the route he would be passing through. Before he knew what was going on, the detectives swooped and got him arrested",

Unaware that his evil plan had been blown open he initially denied, but when confronted with evidence, he confessed.

"On further interogation, he confessed to the police that the two people he contracted had the semblance of those who earlier robbed the same Station some years ago, adducing it to why he confided in them to carry out another robbery from which he would be a beneficiary to it", the statement reads.

Oyeyemi said the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation.

The CP, according to Oyeyemi, has cautioned members of the public, especially business owners, to always have a proper back ground check of anyone they want to employ in order not to employ criminals unknowingly.

After spending nine months in prison, Nigerian man accused of beating his wife to death is exonerated

A Nigerian man, Kingsley Ekene Eze, has been exonerated three years after the family of his deceased wife, Blessing Eze, accused him of beating her to death.

Eze was arrested and sent to prison where he spent nine months.

The Sun reports that Mrs Eze, a teacher at Shalom Academy, Nsukka, slumped in the school’s staff room on May 15, 2017, after she had finished conducting the morning assembly. She was immediately rushed to Akulue Hospital, near the school. After several tests were conducted on her, the medical director of the hospital informed Mr. Eze that his wife was down with stroke.

Mr Eze in an interview said as her condition got worse, she was referred to Parklane Hospital, Enugu. But there was no bed space at Parklane. And she was moved to Ntasiobi Hospital, yet there was no improvement.

Quote:''I became apprehensive. The next day, I went to Memphis Hospital, where another test was conducted. The doctor there told me that her case could not be handled at Ntasiobi, and he advised an urgent transfer.

After being transferred to Memphis, again, my medical adviser told me to transfer her to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu. But Memphis refused to refer her to UNTH. It was a fierce battle between me and the medical doctors at Memphis. Eventually, they gave me a bill of more than N500,000.

After two days at UNTH, the doctor told me that she would be referred to Memphis because the surgical operation she needed could only be done at Memphis. When I got to Memphis, they asked me to pay N2 million for the operation – N1 million deposit and the balance within 48 hours. I rallied round for the N1 million from relatives, friends and colleagues.” he said

Eze said his brother-in-law, Chinedu, gave him N30,000 while his mother-in-law also gave him N50,000.

Quote:“When I went back to the hospital the following day with Chinedu, the doctor told me that my wife was gone. But what baffled me was that he couldn’t allow me to see her corpse.

I went back to clear my bills, so that I could bury my wife, but the hospital staff were not forthcoming. I became furious with the doctors, having suffered so much. I confronted one of them and demanded that my wife’s corpse be released to me. Surprisingly, the doctor told me that my wife was still alive. He even took me to the intensive care unit (ICU) where she was, and I confirmed that she was still alive, though unconscious.

They continued with the treatment, but, sadly three days later, she died. That was June 25, 2017 .

All these happened in the presence of Chinedu, her brother. We took her corpse back to our community. We, including Chinedu, deposited her corpse at Faith Foundation Hospital, Nsukka.  Memphis gave me a bill of N750,000 to pay. I could not clear everything. I had to write an undertaking that I would pay the outstanding N750,000 after her burial.

We informed both the immediate and extended family of her death and fixed a date for her burial. It was to take place on June 30, 2017. All the drinks to be used for her burial were bought from my father-in-law and I paid a better part of the money. His truck was hired to convey those drinks to my house for the ceremony.”

Eze said he got the shock of his life when just a day to the funeral of his late wife, her family members alleged that she died from the injuries sustained from the severe beating he gave her. Eze said he was arrested and thrown into a cell.

He said he was subsequently taken to the police station in Nsukka, where he was detained for two days. With that development, the burial ceremony was automatically cancelled. Two days later, Eze said he was taken to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Enugu and was later charged to court and subsequently remanded in Enugu prisons, where he stayed for nine months.

He said that while he was in prison, all efforts to get him released by one Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Simeon Ugwueze who was then the director of Justice and Peace in the diocese, proved abortive.

He said his family members then filed a case in court to challenge his detention. The bereaved husband claimed that the judge ruled that anyone who believed that Eze was responsible for his wife’s death should come forward to prosecute the case but nobody showed up, and the case was subsequently withdrawn from court.

When interviewed, the mother of his deceased wife, Mrs Edith Ugwu, said her family later discovered that their son-in-law was innocent of all the allegations against him. She blamed members of their extended family for deceiving them to believe their son-in-law had a hand in their daughter's death. Mrs Ugwu apologised to Mr Eze for the pain and embarrassment he had been subjected to.
Quote:“When my husband was sick, Eze bankrolled all the medical expenses. He has been so nice to us. It was our extended family members who deceived us into accusing him of killing his wife, my daughter. Even before my husband died, he called us together and told us that Eze was innocent of those allegations against him. Before Eze was arrested, I did all I could to make them reason with me that he was innocent, but they wouldn’t listen. We, therefore, apologized to Eze for all the allegations we levelled against him,” she said.

Also speaking, the brother of late Mrs Eze, Chinedu, explained that members of the family were indeed lured into accusing Mr Eze of killing his wife. He recalled how his father, a few months before his death, came to realise that the family members were deceived into accusing Eze of murdering his own wife.

Quote: “My father, however, told us to make peace with Eze and apologise to him,” Chinedu said.

Two men arrested over rape and murder of a female doctor and her teenage daughter

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of rape, murder, and arson in connection with the deaths of a female doctor and her teenage daughter.

The men, from Burnley, aged 51 and 56,, were arrested on Sunday evening on suspicion of two counts of murder, two counts of rape and one of arson with intent to endanger life.

The victims, Dr. Saman Mir Sacharvi, 49, and Vian Mangrio, 14, were found dead inside their house in Burnley, Lancashire, by police officers at about 8.45am on Thursday.

The officers who attended the house on Colne Road, Burnley, discovered their bodies along with evidence of fire and smoke inside.

A Home Office post-mortem examination on Dr. Sacharvi, who worked for Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, showed that she died from pressure to her neck and was also assaulted before she died.

A trust spokesman said: 'Our thoughts are with Dr Sacharvi's family and friends at this time.
'She was a well loved and well liked colleague here at the Trust, described as 'brilliant' and a 'joy to work with'.'

Her daughter, Miss Mangrio was badly burnt, but officials have not yet determined the cause of her death. She was a pupil at Marsden Heights School in Nelson.

Detective Superintendent Jon Holmes, head of major crime, said they have a number of lines of inquiry and have made two arrests.

He said: "However this is a live investigation and we continue to ask anyone with any information to get in touch with us.

"Perhaps you have been in the Colne Road area recently and have seen something suspicious.

"Maybe you have CCTV or dashcam footage which could contain something useful. Or perhaps you think you know who is responsible.

"Whatever information you have, we would urge you to get in touch, even if you think what you know is insignificant.

"Finally, our thoughts remain with Dr. Sacharvi and Miss Mangrio's family and friends at this awful time and we send them our deepest condolences.

"We have a team of detectives dedicated to the investigation and we will leave no stone unturned."

Both of the men arrested remain in police custody.

15-year-old girl declared missing in Lagos

A 15-year-old girl identified as Aliyah Kuti, pictured above, has been declared missing in Lagos.

According to the aunt of the missing girl, Jumoke, who spoke with LIB, Aliyah has been missing since September 3. Jumoke said on that very day, Aliyah was sent on an errand by her parents but she refused to go and they rebuked her for her disobedience .

Ms. Jumoke said it was when she was sent on a second errand that she left their house situated at 4/6 Aliu street in Lagos Island and never returned.

Quote:She is my niece. She has been missing now for over three weeks.  Wednesday this week will make it a month.
What happened was that they sent her to go and buy something but she didn't go. The mum and dad rebuked her for that and then they later asked her to go and get them another thing. That was the last time we heard of her.

We went to her friends because she doesn't have outside friends apart from the ones in school. We went to meet them. We begged them. My instinct is telling me those girls know where she is.

I saw them on Saturday and they were asking me if she hasn't returned and I told them if she had come back wouldn't they see her in school? One of them told me to go that she would soon come back when she is hungry.

This is a girl that has not left home before. We didn't see any traces of absonding in her. She is a cool headed girl. She is not troublesome or outspoken.

The mistake the mum did was that she collected her phone. The mum said when she wanted to send her on another errand she asked her to bring the phone. When we went to report at the police station, the DPO said assuming the phone was with her, they can track her down.''

The aunt told LIB that the case has since been reported at the Adeniji Adele police station and that efforts are being made to find her.

A Black man named Jonathan Price was shot and killed by a Wolfe City police officer and this comes only months after he condemned Black Lives Matter protesters and said White police officers have never harassed him.

The family of Jonathan Price says he was fatally shot during an officer-involved shooting in Wolfe City on Saturday, October 3, while he was breaking up a fight.

Authorities said an investigation is underway into the officer-involved shooting in Wolfe City.

The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting, and the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave until the investigation is completed.

After news of his death went viral, people went to dig up his old post where he questioned the efforts of Black Lives Matter protesters and stated that White people have done more for him than his own family. He also stated that he is addicted to White women.

He called the conversation about race and colour "BS" as Black Lives Matter protesters took to the street to protest against police brutality after the murder of George Floyd.

He added that White police officers have stopped him multiple times and they let him go.

Some Black women have stated that they won't be marching to protest his killing.

A black woman shared a screenshot of his post defending white cops and captioned it: "Imagine posting this and then be killed by the police."

Price’s family said he was at an Exxon gas station when he saw a confrontation between a man and a woman. He then tried to break it up, and an officer pulled up

Price’s family said the officer may have thought the two men were fighting. A Taser was deployed, and then the officer fired shots, Price’s family said.

Price was reportedly shot multiple times and died from his injuries.

Since the shooting, people have been posting about Price, saying he was a mentor who worked for the city. Those who were at the scene have said he was doing the right thing.

Price's family said a vigil will be held Monday, October 5, at 7 p.m.

Ize-iyamu Goes For Thanksgiving After Edo Election (Photos

Igbere TV reports that governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State Osagie Ize-Iyamu on Sunday held a thanksgiving first time since losing the election to the incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He held the “special thanksgiving service” on Sunday in his parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Soul Winners Assembly in Benin City where he also said God expects man to offer him praises in all situations.

Ize-Iyamu dismissed claims that he is downcast over the outcome of the election, choosing instead to express gratitude for the exercise, as well as immensely thank supporters and those who assisted him.

The APC governorship candidate whose sermon was titled “utilising opportunities” said every opportunity must be seized to achieve an aim, Igbere TV reports.

On the outcome of the election, Ize-Iyamu noted that defeat is an imagined state, and that since the exercise he had not felt defeated.

Furthermore, he admonished his supporters not to allow the seed of defeat germinate among them, as God has decreed that all the “earth is theirs”.

He additionally encouraged his members to heed God’s caution in Thessalonians 5:16-18 that true believers do not “give away to grief’, ‘rejoice evermore’ and ‘pray without ceasing’ as he (God) only can determine the future.”

Edo State RCCG Regional Pastor Prof. Dele Balogun also urged supporters of Ize-Iyamu not to lose focus as God may allow them to lose a battle and later win the war to test their faith.

Petrol price may drop this month, say marketers

Petrol price may drop this month, say marketers

October 5, 2020

The pump price of petrol may reduce marginally this month, going by the fall in global crude oil prices, oil marketers said on Sunday.
According to them, since the cost of petrol has been largely determined by the price of crude oil, the recent marginal plunge in crude oil cost could lead to a drop in petrol price in Nigeria.

Findings by our correspondent on Sunday showed that Brent, the global benchmark against which Nigeria’s crude is priced, dropped in price by $1.66 or 4.06 per cent as at 13.20pm Central Standard Time.

The commodity (Brent) traded at $39.27 per barrel at the same time, while the cost of crude in the OPEC Basket was put at $39.94 per barrel.

Crude oil in OPEC basket dipped by $1.77 when compared with what it traded on the preceding day.
Speaking to our correspondent in Abuja on Sunday night, the National President, Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria, Billy Gillis-Harry, said the prediction of marketers was that petrol price could dip in October.

He, however, said that oil marketers, particularly members of PETROAN, would continue to call for an enlarged stakeholders meeting in determining the price of petrol across the country.

Gillis-Harry said, “We will continue to insist that the arm-chair pattern of fixing prices is not correct. You saw the confusion it caused the last time. We are going to have a meeting with them (government) that will involve all the stakeholders.

“So, hopefully by then we should be able to have proper information to give to you on the latest in price.

“However, based on the slide in crude oil prices, there is the suspicion that petrol price may come down.”
The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency commenced the deregulation of the downstream oil sector in March.

Although it provided petrol price bands in some months after March 2020, the PPPRA eventually stopped issuing price bands, as it explained that the downstream sector had been fully deregulated.

Oil firms’ debts near N5tn amid price collapse

October 5, 2020

The debts owed by oil and gas companies to Nigerian banks rose by N90bn in the second quarter of this year to nearly N5tn as many operators struggle to stay afloat in the face of depressed prices and demand, ’FEMI ASU reports

Nigerian banks saw their credit to oil and gas companies rise to N4.95tn as of June this year from N4.86tn in March, with more than five per cent of the loan said to have gone bad.

The N4.95tn represents 26.30 per cent of the N18.82tn loans advanced to the private sector by the banks as of the end of June, according to data obtained from the National Bureau of Statistics.

Oil and gas firms, which received the biggest share of the credit from the banks, increased their debts by N370bn in the first half of this year from N4.58tn in December 2019.

Oil firms operating in the downstream, natural gas and crude oil refining subsectors owed N3.62tn as of June, up from N3.60tn in March, while those in the upstream and services subsectors owed N1.33tn, up from N1.26tn.

The NBS data also showed that N268.79bn of the loans advanced by banks to the oil firms were recorded as non-performing as of June.

The recent collapse of global oil prices and demand on the back of the COVID-19 pandemic has continued to take a huge toll on operators in the nation’s oil industry, triggering job losses and suspension of projects.

Chevron Nigeria Limited said on Friday that it would slash its workforce by 25 per cent as it was reviewing its manpower requirements in the light of the changing business environment.

The oil major said it would continue to evaluate opportunities to improve capital efficiency and reduce operating costs.

Shell, in an update to the market last Wednesday, announced plans to cut up to 9,000 jobs globally by the end of 2022 as it adjusts to the COVID-19 price collapse.
The Anglo-Dutch oil giant said 1,500 people had agreed to take voluntary redundancy this year.

The international oil benchmark, Brent crude, had slumped to as low as $15.98 per barrel in April from $70 per barrel in January. It rose above $40 per barrel in recent months but fell to $39.27 per barrel last Friday.

The nation’s oil and gas sector saw its contribution to the economy tumble in Q2 to 8.93 per cent from 9.50 per cent in Q1 as it recorded negative growth.

The NBS said in August that the sector, which grew by 5.06 per cent in the first quarter, shrank by 6.63 per cent in the second quarter.
With the crude oil market likely to remain depressed for the rest of 2020, some oil servicing companies in Nigeria may eventually go bankrupt, according to Agusto & Co.

The rating agency and research firm, in its 2020 oil and gas servicing industry report, said the Nigerian oil and gas servicing industry had recorded a substantial increase in the number of indigenous servicing companies in recent years.

It noted that several key projects in Nigeria had been suspended, adding that delays in sanctioning these projects would impact the nation’s oil and gas servicing industry’s near to medium-term performance.

“Owing to prevailing difficulties in the operating terrain, a number of operators in Nigeria including international and indigenous companies have slashed contractor rates by up to 50 per cent while capital budgets have been reviewed downwards by an average of 20 per cent,” it said.

The report said, “Agusto & Co. expects the crude oil market is likely to remain depressed for the rest of 2020. It expects a huge number of job losses, while some oil field servicing companies may eventually go bankrupt.

“Legacy debt obligations, coupled with a likely spike in the impairment of newly acquired debt, could lead to a massive deterioration in the financial condition of oil and gas servicing companies.”

The PUNCH had reported in April that the coronavirus-induced sharp fall in global oil prices posed a threat to the ability of oil and gas firms in the country to repay their debts to banks.

The Central Bank of Nigeria said in March that it had given all Deposit Money Banks leave to consider temporary and time-limited restructuring of the tenor and loan terms for businesses and households most affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, particularly those in the oil and gas, agriculture and manufacturing sectors.

A global credit rating agency, Moody’s Investors Service, said recently that banks in Nigeria would face weakening loan quality and foreign-currency liquidity as low oil prices and the pandemic weighed on the economy.

It said, “These new challenges add to existing headwinds from slow economic growth and rising regulatory costs.

“Banks’ exposure to the oil and gas industry is substantial, at around 27 per cent of total loans at the end of 2019, making the system susceptible to the oil price slump.”

Coronavirus cases remain on the rise in much of the world entering flu season, including Europe, and concerns are increasing that global crude oil supplies and demand could again fall more out of balance, according to S&P Global Platts.

“The persisting volatility in global oil prices, which is likely to continue beyond the end of 2020 as indicated by the deliveries in the oil futures market, signposts the likelihood of a disorderly global recovery,” the Monetary Policy Committee of the CBN said last month.

Electricity tariff subsidy gulped N540bn, must stop — NERC

Electricity tariff subsidy gulped N540bn, must stop — NERC

 October 4, 2020

Chairman, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Prof. James Momoh. Source: Twitter

Okechukwu Nnodim
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has said the Federal Government spent N540bn subsidising electricity in 2019, stressing the need to put an end to subsidy.

According to the commission, the amount spent on electricity subsidy should be channelled to other sectors of the economy such as health and education, and power users should learn to pay for what they consume.

The Vice-Chairman, NERC, Sanusi Garba, who doubles as a commissioner at the commission, told our correspondent in Abuja that this was why the commission had to provide service reflective tariffs.
He said the service reflective tariff, which took effect on September 1, 2020, before it was suspended for 14 days after an agreement between the Federal Government and labour unions, would ensure that customers of distribution companies pay for what they consume.
Garba said it was important for power users to make the right payments, instead of the government paying subsidy on electricity every year.

According to him, it is not in the best interest of Nigeria to continue shifting tariff review.

He said, “The time of the review has actually been shifted twice, in consideration of the exigencies that obstructed everybody, particularly the COVID-19 pandemic and other situations.

“But you cannot continue to defer the review indefinitely because you should look at electricity supply as a value chain. Generation companies are spending money to produce electricity and TCN (Transmission Company of Nigeria) is transmitting that electricity to the distribution companies.”

He added, “If you continue to suppress prices, somebody has to take a hard cut in terms of cost; somebody’s revenue will not be covered.
 robes

“Now what has been happening is that over the last few years, government had been subsidising rates paid by end-users significantly. In 2019, the subsidy was something in the region of N540bn that has been paid.”

The NERC vice-chairman said some persons could argue that the government should continue to subsidise electricity, but stressed that this was not sustainable.

He said the commission would continue to work towards the sustainability of the power business in Nigeria, urging Nigerians to understand why it was necessary to end subsidy on electricity as well as review tariffs.

Garba said, “Yes, government can continue, as a policy, to subsidise, but the path to sustainability of this industry is an electricity market that is financially sustainable.

“Therefore, after the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was considered appropriate to do what is right in terms of what is provided in the law and also what is in the methodology of the commission itself.”

According to him, electricity is a commodity somebody has to pay for and rates review cannot be postponed indefinitely.
Garba said, “If you continue to defer the rates review, unless government has the resources to fill in the gap, the implication is that you will see service plummeting significantly.

“This is because at the end of the day, the generators will not be paid. And if the generation companies are not paid, it means that they will not be able to pay for gas. And so the 3,000 megawatts, 4,000MW and occasionally 5,000MW that we are getting now will significantly come down.”

External reserves hit $35.72bn in September

 October 4, 2020

The country’s foreign reserves stood at $35.723bn as of September 29, according to the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The CBN disclosed that the reserves, which had continued to rise and fall in recent weeks, stood at $35.67bn as of September 1 and rose to $35.81bn as of September 17.

The reserves rose by $65m from $35.59bn as of August 20 to $35.66bn as of August 27.

It had earlier lost $278.91m from $35.87bn on July 29 to $35.59bn on August 19 after which it returned to a growth path.

The CBN had stated in its report on ‘Monetary, credit, foreign trade and exchange policy guidelines for fiscal years 2020/2021’ that external reserves was expected to lie between $29.9bn and $34.3bn by 2020 ending.

It said, “Sequel to the COVID-19 pandemic, the viability of the external sector in 2020 is expected to deteriorate, given the present worsening current account balance and depletion of external reserves driven, largely, by decelerating export receipts, particularly oil.

“Specifically, the degree of external reserves accumulation is expected to decelerate, as outflows are expected to outweigh inflows.

“As a result, external reserves are expected to lie between $29.9bn and $34.3bn at end-December 2020 (predicated on current declining oil price between $20 and $40).”

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

MONDAY 5TH OCTOBER.

KNOWING HIS VOICE ISN’T A MYSTERY

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me (John 10:27).

The Lord Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27). Many wonder if it’s possible to hear God speak in a world where there’re so many voices.

The words of the Master in John 10:2-5 clarify this. He said, “But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers."

The key is understanding God’s Word. The more you study the Word, the more you recognise and know the voice of God, because God and His Word are one. He speaks through His Word. Everything He tells you: every direction or guidance you receive from Him, always sides up with His Word.

Through meditation on His Word, His voice becomes clearer to you, even in the midst of all the noise and distractions.

If you’ve hitherto found it difficult to recognize God’s voice, the solution is simple: spend more time studying the Word! Colossians 3:16 says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom….” Proverbs 4:20-21 says, “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.” If you keep the Word in your heart, you’ll hear the Word in your heart.

In addition, pray in the spirit often; pray in tongues. This helps to condition your spirit to discern God’s voice, visions and promptings.

PRAYER

Dear Father, your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. My spirit is conditioned to receive supernatural ideas, visions and promptings. I’m sensitive and conditioned to know and walk in your perfect will for my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Petty trader loses 3 month-old pregnancy over NSCDC brutality in Ibadan [PHOTOS]

A petty trader, Mrs Funmilola Adekoya has alleged that she lost a three month-old pregnancy due to brutality by some operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command in Ibadan.

Adekoya, a mother of one, lost her pregnancy after an NSCDC operative pressed an electrical gadget on her stomach, in addition to spraying her with a gaseous substance after which she went unconscious.

DAILY POST gathered that the incident occurred on September 29th at Floor 2, Gbangbalolonwa complex, Idi-Ope, Imonlefalafia, Oke-Ado Ibadan.

Husband of the victim, Mr. Francis Adekoya, while speaking, said that some people who did not show him any identity card suddenly entered his shop early in the morning demanding for N2,000 tax.

Adekoya said, “When the men who were guarded by two NSCDC operatives entered by shop, they claimed to be collecting N2,000 tax for the Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue.

“However, I made them understand that I had not made any sales that morning, besides, there was no pre-notice of their coming and so did not prepare any money ahead.

“I pleaded with the alleged tax collectors to give me some hours to make money, probably by afternoon I would have made money, but they threatened to apply force against me. Then, they insisted on sealing up my shop and I tried to prevent them.

“One of the NSCDC operative later dragged me out of the shop, injected me with an electrical gadget and also sprayed my face with a gaseous substance”.

Mr. Adekoya also alleged that he temporarily lost his vision due to the brutality by the NSCDC official.
He said that he was still receiving treatment at the hospital where he is being attended to.

“It took the effort of well meaning neighbours who supported me in rushing her to the hospital before she was revived. The medical doctor told me that it was only God that saved her, adding that she has lost the three month-old pregnancy she was carrying.

“As I speak, she is still receiving treatment in the hospital and I have no money to offset the heavy bill incurred. I want the government to take a decisive action on this incident because the brutality against poor innocent people might continue if nothing is done on it”.

Public Relation Officer (PRO) of NSCDC in Oyo State, Mr. Oluwole Olusegun confirmed the incident to journalists on Sunday.

Olusegun, however, said that the corps was still investigating the matter.

A resident of the area who spoke with The Nation, said that the dead body of the deceased was badly mutilated, indicating she was stabbed multiple times.
"The neighbours told us they had not seen her for the past four days and assumed she travelled till her dead body was found in her room.” he said.

It was further gathered few weeks ago, the late Tyem survived an accident along Akwanga-Jos road while assailants invaded her apartment in Lafia and carted away all her belongings.

Chairman of SSANU, Federal University of Lafia Chapter, Monday Seriki, who visited the scene, alleged the deceased was murdered and her car and phones were not found in the apartment.

“I was called this morning around 9am that our women leader was found dead in her room and that the neighbours discovered her dead body. That because she was meant to travel last Wednesday and so the neighbours thought she had travelled. But somehow they noticed that the house was oozing with a bad stench and one of the neighbours while searching found that her kitchen door from the backyard was widely opened and her dead body was found in the house," said Seriki.

“We went there in company of the police, I even have the pictures. We went inside the house and noticed that she was stabbed. She was murdered four days ago by unknown persons. Nobody knows the whereabouts of her car and her phones. Right now, her body was conveyed by the University Ambulance to Sandaji Mortuary in Lafia,” Seriki narrated.

Nigerian rapper, Ruggedman, has reacted to the ban of the personnel of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

DAILY POST had earlier reported that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Abubakar Adamu, in a press release on Sunday banned the personnel of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) from patrols and stop-search duties with immediate effect following alleged killings and harassment of youths.

Reacting, Ruggedman urged Adamu to take action and not talk.

According to him, some police officers don’t obey the IGP or any Nigerian law.

“We have read this before. Some of your officers do not obey you or any Nigerian law,” he wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

“We have pictures, videos, names & addresses of rogue officers and their victims. Deal with erring officers.
“They are everywhere committing more crimes against Nigeria. Take action, not talk,” he added.

Popular media personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has reacted to the ban of the personnel of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS by the police hierarchy.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Abubakar Adamu, in a press release on Sunday banned the personnel of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) from patrols and stop-search duties with immediate effect, following alleged killings and harassment of youths.

He ordered that no personnel, henceforth, has right to stop and search citizen’s mobile phones, laptops and other smart devices without warrant.

However, Ebuka, reacting, hoped that the press release comes with actions and not like previous ones.

The official host of BBNaija on his Twitter page wrote: “Press releases without any action are way too common. We’ve been here before. #EndSARS

“Better not be like the constant ban on roadblocks that keep resurfacing.”
This is not the first time there would be a review of SARS in the country.
Recall that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, in August 2018, as the Acting President, ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idirs, to overhaul SARS management and activities.

Sensational singer, Naira Marley has revealed what will happen to him if he decides to protest against injustice meted on youths by officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Marley had on Saturday criticised Nigerians trending ‘EndSARS’ hashtags rather than going out to protest.
“In this country, we love protesting on twitter. That’s the problem.”

However, his tweet was met with backlash from Nigerians who demanded he should lead the protest and watch his fans ‘Marlians’ join him.

In a later tweet on Sunday, Naira Marley said if he decides to protest they would take him to Kirikiri prison.

His tweet read: “All I’m saying is we need to stop protesting on Twitter because that’s all we’ve been doing. We need to protest in real life, just say you’re scared and you will rather tweet from home.

“If you all want me to lead the protest I will lead but just know that they will send me to kirikiri prison this time.”

SARS, in the past few days has been criticized greatly due to their killing and harassment of innocent Nigerians.
While some Nigerians call for a reform, others demanded end to SARS.

Mangaluru, Oct 3 (PTI) Two more persons, including a Nigerian national, have been arrested by City Crime Branch police in connection with the drug peddling case involving dancer-choreographer Kishore Aman Shetty, police said.

The Nigerian national, Frank Sunday Ibeabuchi (33) and Shamin Fernandes (28) of Kuloor here were arrested in Bengaluru, they said, but did not specify the date.

Another accused in the case, Shan Nawaz (34), was earlier arrested from Mumbai for supplying drugs to Shetty and his aides through his network.

The City Crime Branch had also questioned popular television anchor Anushree in connection with the case after one of the accused revealed that she had attended the dancers parties. #ENDSARS: 'Send SARS to Borno to terrorize Boko Haram terrorists' – Reno Omokri

Former aide to former Nigeria president Goodluck Jonathan and author, Reno Omokri, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to send  operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, F-SARS of the Nigeria Police Force to Borno state to help in combating terrorism rather than "harming innocent Nigerians."

According to Omokri, Buhari should stop 'rehabilitating Boko Haram terrorists' but instead rehabilitate Nigerians by sending SARS to Borno State to face the deadly terrorists who have been terrorising Northern Nigerians for over a decade.

According to Omokri, since "SARS operatives already know how to terrorise," they would be able to fight Boko Haram terrorists.

He tweeted on Sunday afternoon October 4;
“General @MBuhari, stop rehabilitating Boko Haram. Rehabilitate Nigerians by disbanding SARS immediately and sending them to Borno let them TERRORISE the TERRORISTS. Since they already know how to terrorise, they are tailor made for the job of fighting terrorists!”

[Image: 5f79f704f2f19.png][Image: 5f79f6e931130.jpg]

Omokri's tweet comes after the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, on Sunday announced the ban on operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) and other Tactical Squads of the Force, including the Special Tactical Squad (STS), Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Anti-Cultism Squad and other Tactical Squads operating at the Federal, Zonal and Command levels, from carrying out routine stop and search patrols.

Honeymoon is not about playing with animals" - Opposition leader advises Zambian President's newly married daughter not to waste time and start making babies

Prominent Zambian opposition leader, Chilufya Tayali, said couple shouldn't waste time in starting a family immediately after wedding, adding that his partymembers will ban all contraceptive advertisements if they come into power.

Mr Tayali, the President of the Economic and Equity Party (EEP) stated this while commenting on the pictures of Zambian President Edgar Lungu's daughter Tasila and her husband Patrick interacting with animals on their honeymoon,

"Honeymoon is not just about playing with animals. "It's time to get busy and strengthen the marriage, the two families of the man and woman, grow wealth and secure the future generations," Tayali said.

He said if his party came into power, it would ban contraceptive advertisements running in the media, because Zambia's population was too small for the "big and rich Country we have."

"Look at me, when I got my first wife, from Rwanda, I wasted no time to cause her crave for fresh fish and our first born is now 17 years doing University. I allowed her to breathe for her body to get back in shape and I brought in the second one. Had we continued with our marriage, we would have been counting 5 by now," he said.

"I am now with Tsega and we are just over a year of our marriage and Kiya is 4 months. We will allow her to grow and let my wife get back in shape as she gets a job, because she is a full time qualified accountant, then.....you can guess," Tayali added.

He said under his administration, families and reproduction will be highly encouraged but those who adopt children will get more incentives, because he did not want children to be without parents as that was not African.

"So, Patrick and Tasila, those lions should turn into children sooner than later," Tayali demanded.

Read full post below:

Quote:
PATRICK AND TASILA SHOULD NOT WASTE TIME, THEY SHOULD MAKE BABIES, IT'S PART OF EEP POLICIES, OF "FAMILIES MUST COME FIRST "

This article is both my part of my family values and political ideology, so don't take it as a joke, read it carefully and don't be lazy READ TO THE END.

Firstly, I want to thank Patrick and Tasila for being humble and patriotic, they are really walking in the aspirations of Economic and Equity Party (EEP) of appreciating local products and services. It is important that a lot of us take pride in our Country.

I know if Tasila was like my Bemba girls, they would have wanted to fly to Bahamas for the honeymoon, blow a lot of dollars causing the exchange rate to shoot up.
What Patrick and Tasila has done is helping in keeping jobs, paying Taxes and keeping the wheels of the economy turning, this is the only way we can develop.

Moving forward I want to say that a honeymoon is not just about playing with animals, it's time to get busy and strengthen the marriage, the two families of the man and woman, grow wealth and secure the future generations.

It's nonsensical to talk about contraception for two people who just got married, rather you should be talking of boosters in terms of bedroom jobs and fertility.
When EEP comes in power we will ban some of these contraceptive advertisements running in the media, because Zambia's population is too small for the big and rich Country we have.

Look at me, when I got my first wife, from Rwanda, I wasted no time to cause her crave for fresh fish and our first born is now 17 years doing University. I allowed her to breathe for her body to get back in shape and I brought in the second one. Had we continued with our marriage, we would have been counting 5 by now.

I am now with Tsega and we are just over a year of our marriage and Kiya is 4 months. We will allow her to grow and let my wife get back in shape as she gets a job, because she is a full time qualified accountant, then.....you can guess.

Much as I am separated from my first wife, our relationship will last forever, because of children. Diplomatic tires with Rwanda are also naturally sealed, especially when I will be President.

No matter how my wife may not like Zambia because it is under developed, she has no choice to renounce the Country or me, because her first born child is Zambian.
Our diplomatic relationship with Ethiopia is naturally stronger and we will work with them to realise my United States of Africa which was started by great leaders like Col. Gaddafi, killed by the Westerners who are killing our unborn children using contraceptives and abortions, then Kwame Nkhruma the great Panafricanist.

Trust me, when I come to rule Zambia, it will not be business as usual, we will have to claim our heritage and our wealth. Zambia will be on the World Map for strong values, independence not only in what we do but what we won as well. I will not accept laziness and corruption.

Getting back to Patrick and Tasila, as well as other new couples, don't waste time playing, that is for those who are not married. When you get married it is time to make babies.
Of course I am aware of those who may not be able to have children (biologically) in their marriage, but that is because they are selfish otherwise they would still have children. They are so many orphans why should you stay alone in the pretext that you can't conceive. Go get children from the orphanages and be parents.

Lastly, for Country to develop, we need numbers. Zambia's economy will not grow exponentially, unless our population increases. There is no big economic without people to grow it, which is why EEP starts with fundamentals of "FAMILY MUST COME FIRST!".

Under my administration, families and reproduction will be highly encouraged. But those who adopt children will get more incentives, because I want no child to be without parents, it's not African. I don't want street children, they should be in homes or Govt social welfare.

So, Patrick and Tasila, those lions should turn into children sooner than later.
With what I have said here, you can now understand when I say:
TAYALI THE MARRIED MAN - FAMILIES MUST COME FIRST!
EEP - PEOPLE MAKE A NATION!
ZAMBIA MUST BE OWNED BY ZAMBIANS!

The police inspector-general, Muhammed Adamu, has banned the dreaded special anti-robbery squad after widespread campaign to stop it.

As Police Arrest 2 FSARS Operatives, 1 Civilian Accomplice in Lagos State
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni has banned the personnel of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) and other Tactical Squads of the Force including the Special Tactical Squad (STS), Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Anti-Cultism Squad and other Tactical Squads operating at the Federal, Zonal and Command levels, from carrying out routine patrols and other conventional low-risk
duties – stop and search duties, checkpoints, mounting of roadblocks, traffic checks, etc – with immediate effect. In addition, no personnel of the Force is authorized to embark on patrols or tactical assignments in mufti.

They must always appear in their police uniforms or approved tactical gear. The IGP’s directives come against the backdrop of findings by the leadership of the Force that a few personnel of the Tactical Squads hide under these guise to perpetrate all forms of illegality,
contrary to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), Code of Conduct and Rules of Engagement establishing the squads.

Specifically, the IGP has warned the Tactical Squads against the invasion of the privacy of citizens particularly through indiscriminate and unauthorized
search of mobile phones, laptops and other smart devices.

They are to concentrate and respond only to cases of armed robbery, kidnapping and other violent crimes when the need arises.

The IGP notes that the FSARS and other Police Tactical Squads remain a critical component of the Force in confronting prevailing and emerging violent crimes in the country.

He however condemns every act of unprofessionalism, abuse of human rights and high-handedness
by some personnel of the Squads. He has therefore ordered the X-Squad and the Monitoring Unit to embark on immediate and massive nationwide monitoring of activities of Tactical Squads and other police officers on the road.

They are to ensure prompt arrest, investigation and prosecution of all erring police officers who violate these directives and other extant regulations of the Force .

The IGP has equally warned, that henceforth, the Commissioner of Police in charge of FSARS, Commissioners of Police in charge of State Commands and the FCT as well as their supervisory Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police,
will be held liable for any misconduct within their Area of Responsibility (AOR). He therefore charged them to ensure effective supervision and mentoring of the personnel of the Tactical Squads under their jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, two operatives of the FSARS and their civilian accomplice operating in Lagos State, INSPR Sale James, INSPR Monday Uchiola and Okechukwu Ogbonna, have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command, for acts of professional misconduct including extortion and intimidation of innocent citizens.

The operational vehicle of the men has also been impounded and disciplinary procedure has already commenced against the defaulters.

The IGP reaffirms his commitment to bequeathing to Nigerians, a reformed Police Force that is accountable, responsible and ever ready to defend and uphold the rights of the citizens while discharging its duties of keeping the people safe and secure.

He enjoins the citizens not to allow the misconduct by a few personnel of the Force to negatively impact on their belief, confidence and trust in the Police.

Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries, on Saturday, called for the proscription of Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

Suleman, however, declared that operatives responsible for killing innocent Nigerians would “reap what they sow.”

He tweeted: “SARS should be proscribed, they are a disgrace to the police force.

They are worse than the ‘criminals’ they claim to be against..their trigger-happy nature have rendered mothers childless, sent youths on premature extinction, wasted destinies. They will reap what they sow.”

Some Nigerian celebrities have called for the end of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) over their recent activities in the country.

SARS has been allegedly harassing and killing Nigerians.

Their actions have led to a general outcry by Nigerians that SARS should be banned.

Small Doctor, joining the call for SARS to be banned complained why Nigerian youths have to live in fear of police every day.

On his Twitter page, he wrote: “This is getting worse every day, promising lives of youths been cut short.

“Why should we be living in fear? Why should we be scared to move freely?

“Why must our peers return home and the first question we ask is “POLICE DEY ROAD” ?
“YOU SEE POLICE”? WHY ?#EndSARS.

The likes of Yemi Alade, Fireboy and Tony Umez also joined the call for end to harassment by SARS.

Alade on her Twitter page wrote: “EndSars brutality.
@TonyUmez “The gruesome harassment of the men called SARS has to end #EndSarsNow #EndSARS

@ Fireboy, “This country, can’t believe we’re back to this again. The Nigerian Police needs a complete reform, and the SARS program should be scrapped. Innocent Nigerian lives lost every day, it makes no sense.

“The silence of the government on this issue tells us all we need to know. It’s a sad reality. We’re alone.

Nigeria’s Afro-beat legend, Femi Kuti, has condemned the activities of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

SARS has been allegedly harassing and killing Nigerians.

Their actions have led to a general outcry by Nigerians that SARS should be banned.

Femi Kuti has also called for an overhauling of SARS on his Twitter page, querying the government for keeping mute about the death of innocent Nigerians.
According to him, the government is nonchalant because their families are safe from SARS harassment.

His tweet read: “How many more innocent people must SARS/the police kill before urgent steps are taken to completely overhaul and reform the entire police force?

Nigerian singer, Ayo Balogun, popularly known as ‘Wizkid’ has called out President Muhammadu Buhari for responding a quickly to Donald Trump’s health issues and for remaining unconcerned about security issues in Nigeria.

DAILY POST had reported that a team of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police allegedly killed a young man on Saturday.

The incident occurred in front of Wetland Hotel, Ughelli in Delta State.
The operatives allegedly shot the citizen and left the scene in the victim’s vehicle – a white Lexus jeep.

Their actions led to a general outcry by Nigerians who are calling for an end to the brutality from SARS operatives.

Reacting, Wizkid in a tweet via his Twitter account on Sunday blasted Buhari for not responding to the outcry in Nigeria.

Akeredolu vs Jegede, Agboola: Like Edo, Kwankwaso arrives Ondo for APC, PDP clash

A former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is currently in Ondo State.

He arrived in Akure, the state capital, on Saturday.
The former Senator flew in with Abba Kabir Yusuf, a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kano in 2019, and other loyalists.

Other PDP stalwarts, including national and state executive officers, serving and former governors, lawmakers and ministers, will storm Ondo as from Sunday.
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, is being expected.

Kwankwaso is regarded as one of Nigeria’s biggest grassroots mobilizers.

Sources say he is interested in running for the presidency again in 2023 and is trying to make points with his full participation in elections.

This might be one of the reasons the supporters of Atiku – also eyeing the 2023 presidency – urged him to return from Dubai.

Like he did ahead of the Edo election won by Governor Godwin Obaseki, Kwankwaso will meet the Northern community in Ondo.

PDP governorship candidate for the election, Eyitayo Jegede, is expected to attend.

Kwankwaso commands a large following in Kano; his supporters spread across and outside the North-West region.

The political machine of the former Defence Minister is Kwankwasiyya, coined from his name.

In September 2018, when he met PDP delegates in Lagos during his nationwide tour in the build-up to the presidential primaries, Kwankwaso announced that the movement’s membership in Kano had passed 2.5 million.

PDP’s Jegede, a former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, will slug it out with Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The poll has been fixed for Saturday, October 10, 2020.
Also in the race is Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

Interestingly, former Governor, Segun Mimiko, who Jegede served under, is ZLP National Leader.
Jegede, Mimiko’s protégé, was PDP flag bearer in the 2016 election. Nigerians will soon find out if he’ll be lucky this time.

Permutations are reportedly ongoing for the ZLP to join forces with the PDP to dethrone the APC.

Lagos police takes step to curb police extortion and harassment

The Lagos state police command has taken a new step to curb police harassment and extortion in the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu who restated his zero tolerance for unethical and inhuman conducts in the police, ordered all checkmating units in the command including provost, X-Squad, CP Monitoring Team and Public Complaint Bureau (PCB), to wake up to their duties and arrest any policeman who deviates from the normal ethics and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)of the Nigeria Police within Lagos State.

Odumosu has also ordered the Police Public Relations Officer of the command to roll out the phone numbers of the Public Complaint Bureau of the command, in addition to the already released phone numbers, to the general public in order to allow them lodge complaints against police harassment, brutality and extortion.

The statement released by the state police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi reads;

Quote:The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered the Police Public Relations Officer of the command to roll out the phone numbers of the Public Complaint Bureau of the command,in addition to the already released phone numbers, to the general public in order to allow them lodge complaints against police harassment, brutality and extortion.

The police chief, while restating his zero tolerance for unethical and inhuman conducts in the police, ordered all checkmating units in the command including provost, X-Squad, CP Monitoring Team and Public Complaint Bureau (PCB), to wake up to their duties and arrest any policeman who deviates from the normal ethics and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)of the Nigeria Police within Lagos State.

The Commissioner of Police, also, urges members of the public to always take the pains of identifying such policemen who harass, brutalise and extort them as Lagos State hosts many police formations aside from the Lagos State Command; such identification is sine-qua-non to immediate investigation and disciplinary actions against the erring personnel.

Salami Rejects Magu’s Demand To Invite Buhari’s COS, Minister, Ends Probe

Quote:IgbereTV reports that the Justice Ayo Salami-led Presidential panel probing the suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, has rejected a request by Magu to invite the President’s Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari; the Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi; and Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas.

Others who were supposed to appear before the panel include- a former Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Lamorde; the Director General of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, Modibbo Hamman-Tukur; EFCC’s Acting Director, Directorate of Asset Forfeiture and Recovery Management, Mr Aliyu Yusuf; an EFCC lawyer, Bala Sanga; and a former EFCC official, Isa Dongoyaro.

The Salami-led panel had drafted a subpoena addressed to the naval chief, minister and others to appear.

However, it was learnt that the panel made a U-turn and decided not to invite them anymore following the refusal of the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), to honour a summons.

A lawyer to Magu, Mr. Tosin Ojaomo, said the suspended EFCC boss did not have a chance to properly defend himself since the panel rejected his appeal to invite those who would have been able to explain the allegations against him.

Ojaomo said the panel had closed its probe and was putting together its report which it would soon submit to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

The lawyer said, “Justice Salami refused to subpoena those we asked him to serve. He had drafted subpoenas to the chief of naval staff, minister of defence, chief of staff to the President, the DG NFIU, the AGF and Lamorde.

“I am sure he refused to issue the subpoenas because of the way the AGF refused to come forward. So, we have closed our defence and I am sure the report would be submitted anytime from now.

“Magu was forced to defend himself without any witness of his coming forward. But no one accused Magu of stealing. In fact, those who have pending cases in court only asked that the charges filed against them be withdrawn.”

The panel, which sat for three months, summoned at least 50 persons, including activist, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN); General Overseer, Divine Hand of God Prophetic Ministry, Prophet Emmanuel Omale; senior advocate, Godwin Obla; Managing Director of First City Monument Bank, Adam Nuru; as well as several government officials.

Buhari had while inaugurating the seven-man panel on July 3, 2020, given it 45 days to round off its activities and submit its report.

The President listed the seven members of the panel to include Salami (North-Central); Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Michael Ogbezi (South-South); a representative of the Federal Ministry of Justice, Muhammad Babadoko (North-Central); and Hassan Abdullahi from the Department of State Services (North-Central).

Others are Muhammad Shamsudeen from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (North-West), Douglas Egweme from the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (South-East) and Kazeem Atitebi (South-West), who serves as the secretary.

The President subsequently gave the panel an additional six weeks to conclude its probe.

Magu was detained for 10 days when the panel began sitting but was later released.

He was suspended from office along with over 12 other senior officials of the commission, including the EFCC Secretary, Ola Olukoyede.

The suspended EFCC boss was accused of being unable to account for the interest that accrued to over N500bn in recovered funds.

He was also said to have purchased a house in Dubai for N573m through his pastor, who operates an account with FCMB.

The bank later issued an apology, claiming that the N573m was credited to the bank account of the pastor in error and that the error was not discovered for over four years.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY 4TH OCTOBER

A HIGH CALLING.

And all things are of God, who hath… given to us the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18).

2 Peter 3:9 tells us that God isn’t willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. He proved His commitment by sending Jesus to die for the salvation of all men (John 3:16). However, despite God’s commitment to saving the lost, He wills to do it through us—His saints—and has committed to us “the ministry of reconciliation."

Jesus said in Mark 16:15, “...Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” We have the greatest honour on earth: the opportunity to preach the Gospel. God gave us the rare privilege of being His partners in changing the world: His partners in transforming lives.

Think about the fact that God didn’t give the charge of soul winning to angels, but to you and me. The glorious Gospel of the blessed God has been committed to our trust (1 Timothy 1:11); be faithful in it. Be on the go with the Gospel; don’t stop until the knowledge of the glory of God covers the earth as the waters cover the sea.

What a marvellous blessing, privilege and honour that the Lord would do all He did, and send us to herald the news around the world! Then to ensure you succeed at it, He gave you the Holy Spirit to be with you, and in you. The Holy Spirit makes you an able, competent, and effective minister of the Gospel (2 Corinthians 3:6). He gives you the ability to be a bold witness of the resurrected Christ and to fulfil your calling.

CONFESSION

Taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth is my passion and high calling in Christ Jesus. I’m honoured, privileged and blessed to be entrusted with the glorious Gospel of Christ’s salvation, and today, more than ever, I preach it with power, bringing salvation to as many as hear and believe. Blessed be God!

FURTHER STUDY:

2 Corinthians 6:1 We then, [as] workers together [with him], beseech [you] also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

1 Corinthians 1:9 AMPC God is faithful (reliable, trustworthy, and therefore ever true to His promise, and He can be depended on); by Him you were called into companionship and participation with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

2 Corinthians 3:5-6 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency [is] of God; 6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

#TALKINGSESSION

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Father, thank You for Your Word that’s at work in me. I declare that the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, is with me today and always.

Thank You for showing me through Your Word that I am Christ’s extension in the world. I function as Your outstretched arm to my world today by preaching the Gospel in demonstration of the Spirit and power, and many more are coming to the knowledge of Your saving grace.

I thank You Lord Jesus, for giving me the right to reign and rule over the circumstances of life and exercise dominion over satan.

I thank You for making me the inheritor of the blessings of Abraham through my association with You.

I’m prospering and living in the manifestation of Your infinite blessings because I am Abraham’s seed. I am an heir according to the promise and a joint-heir with Christ, I am blessed in the city,

I am blessed in the field, and in my going out and in my coming in! I am blessed to be a blessing. Hallelujah!

I belong in God’s superior class of divine beings; therefore I look beyond the natural realm of existence to my heavenly rights, blessings, and provisions in Christ Jesus!

I recognize today and take hold of my divine right to live in health, prosperity, victory, success, dominion, and excellence! I am in charge and I win always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God bless you[Image: 20200925_0158472.png]

A statement released by the command's spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, states that Afuape was arrested following a report by the aunty of the victim who reported the matter at Ayetoro divisional headquarters.

Oyeyemi said the aunty of the victim told the police that she came back from work on the 30th of September 2020 at about 3:45 pm only to discover that her 13 years old niece had been sexually abused by the suspect who lives in the same neighborhood with them.

Oyeyemi added that the victim explained that she was alone in the house when the suspect came at about 1:30 pm and claimed that he was sent by the victim’s aunt to come and service her generator.

Atiku, Sunday Dare, Saraki, Others Call For SARS Reform After Viral Shooting Video

Minister of Youths and Sport Development Sunday Dare has joined voices condemning the recurring brutality of the Nigeria Police Force’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad after video of the shooting of a young man in front of a hotel in Ughelli, Delta State went viral on Saturday, Igbere TV reports.

The video showed how there was confusion around Wetland Hotel in Ughelli where the policemen allegedly killed the victim and escaped with his vehicle – a white Lexus Sport Utility Vehicle.

Global rights group Amnesty International, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Senate President Bukola Saraki have also condemned the act and called for the reform of SARS.

Mr Dare said the Federal Government would look into the reports of harassment of Nigerians by SARS.

Igbere TV reports that in a statement issued on Saturday by his special assistant John Joshua-Akanji, Dare said he had been monitoring reports of the attacks by SARS, adding that relevant government agencies will investigate the incidents.

“The minister of youth and sports development, who has also been monitoring the reports of alleged SARS harassment and attacks, has called for immediate investigations that will unravel the truth,” he said.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, wrote;

Quote:“The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Police was set up to confront violent crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping and other related crimes.

“However, the unit has today morphed into an oppressor of the Nigerian masses who strive every day for a better life.

“Reports of intimidation, harassment and outright extortion by officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) have continued unabated.

“I strongly condemn their cruel actions against our people, and I urge the government to rise to the occasion and nip this monstrosity in the bud with the seriousness it deserves.

“It is expedient that the activities of SARS are reviewed to ensure that the rogue elements are excised from the unit and sanity returned to its operations.”

Quote:Former Senate President Bukola Saraki wrote; “The reports of the continued harassment, illegal arrest, detention and high handedness by rogue cells of the SARS Unit of Police against innocent Nigerians - most of them young people - in spite of efforts to reform the Police & raise standards of policing, are disheartening.

“A situation where the officers of Police become a threat to the lives and property of the very citizens they swore to protect is condemnable and unacceptable.

“I call on the Federal Government to immediately put a stop to these reprehensible activities and restructure the unit to better perform its lawful duties of safe guarding the lives and property of the Nigerian people.”

Femi Fani-Kayode: I Caught My Wife In Bed With A Married Man
User Avatar Forum: Other Stories
Posted by: Edoman - 10-03-2020, 10:37 PM - Replies (1)

Former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode has claimed he caught his estranged wife Precious Chikwendu in bed with another man, Igbere TV reports.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain made the claim in a series of tweets on Saturday in reaction to a video showing him allegedly abusing the woman.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fU4Mcz7Ku-Y

Quote:Claiming his wife recorded the clip as propaganda against him, the troubled politician said: “There was NO physical abuse.

“I simply took the phone from her to stop her from recording me after catching her in bed with a married man days earlier.”

Igbere TV reports that there have been multiple claims in the media that Fani-Kayode physically abused the former beauty queen with whom he has four sons.

But the man who confesses to having a “short fuse” said in the tweets that “I repeat there was NO physical abuse whatsoever and she had been insulting and subjecting everybody, including family members, staff and children, to PHYSICAL and VERBAL abuse the whole day. As usual, it was a nightmare!

“My words in the video are self-explanatory. I urge those that watched it to listen to those words carefully. I told her that everyone wanted peace except for her and all she did was indulge in scandal after scandal. I have NEVER physically abused my estranged wife.”

Chief priest stabbed to death for impregnating Muslim lady in Delta

The Chief Priest of the Igbudu community in Warri South council area of Delta, Victor Alawuru, has been stabbed to death for allegedly impregnating a Muslim lady at Degbori Street in the Hausa Quarters axis of the community.

The Nation reports that the victim impregnated a ‘Hausa lady’, which did not go well with her Muslim parents, who are against the relationship based on religious differences. Some other residents in the area claim that the deceased was killed because he rejected the pregnancy.

It was gathered the deceased had gone for a festival on Degbori street when he was ambushed and stabbed by hoodlums reportedly from the Hausa enclave.

Quote:“The deceased was killed because a Hausa lady got pregnant for him. He allegedly rejected the pregnancy. The incident has brought serious tension,” a source claimed

Another source said
Quote:“The hoodlums who are believed to be from the Hausa community attacked and stabbed him to death on Thursday. The Igbudu community youths are angry over the death of the deceased. Thus, fighting, robbery, and a riot broke out between the Urhobo and Hausa groups.

The ever-busy Igbudu market was forcefully closed on Friday evening as traders ran away for the safety of their lives. And there are fears that the youths may avenge the death of the chief priest.

The incident is a bad one because cult groups have taken over the fight. The last person that was killed by the same group during the lockdown was the younger brother of Mr. Victor. The people of the priest are angry”.

A senior police source at the Warri Area Command revealed that the parents wanted the girl to terminate the pregnancy but she refused.
Quote:“They said a Hausa girl was pregnant for him and the parents wanted her to terminate the pregnancy but she ran to the police station.

So the girl said Christian girls do get pregnant for Muslims so why can’t she? And she decided to keep the pregnancy.

They were having a festival in that area and the said chief priest was passing. They said some Hausa boys now pointed that ‘look at the man that brought disgrace (impregnating the Hausa girl) to us’ and one of them stabbed him to death,” the police source disclosed.

Asked if the chief priest had rejected the pregnancy, the Police said “he didn’t. They said their daughter shouldn’t have been pregnant for a non-Muslim”.

The spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the killing of the chief priest by suspected ‘Hausa boys’.

Quote:“Yes, the chief priest was killed but not because he was a chief priest. The area is calm now'' Onovwakpoyeya said

TRAGEDY: Lecturer Commits Suicide In Benin

Mr Orobator’s lifeless body was discovered behind his apartment at about 1.30pm, with the rope which he used to hang himself, tied around his neck.

Mudiaga Affe
Friday Orobator, a principal lecturer of the defunct College of Education, now Tayo Akpata University in Ekiadolor, Edo State, on Friday committed suicide by hanging himself at his Obakhazbaye residence in Benin City, the state capital.

Mr Orobator’s lifeless body was discovered behind his apartment at about 1.30 p.m., with the rope which he used to hang himself, tied around his neck.

The tragic incident attracted a large crowd of neighbours, sympathisers and passers-by, who expressed shock over his death.

The late Mr Orobator, said to be in his 50’s, was a member of the College of Education Academic Staff Union, (COEASU), and a principal lecturer at the Department of Adult Education. He was said to have complained bitterly to close associates over his inability and lack of money to tend to his failing health.

It was learnt that on Wednesday, the late lecturer told a colleague that he was tired of begging for money from friends to cater for his family needs and his health challenges.
Attempts to get his family members at his Obakhazwaye residence to comment on the incident were unsuccessful as they were mourning the demise of their breadwinner.
However, the Chairman of the College of Education Academic Staff Union, (COEASU), Fred Omonuwa, said their colleague died as a result of lack and inability to access medical care.

He appealed to the state government to pay the workers their 13 months unpaid salary.

According to Mr Omonuwa, “It is clear the death came as a result of lack and inability to access medical facilities. Some months ago, he became very sick and depended on friends for assistance but very recently he started complaining of getting tired of consistently begging to survive.

“Of course, everybody knows that the Edo State Government owes us 13 months of salary, which we have continued to agitate for even before the election, but it was tagged “political agitation”. The man couldn’t provide for himself.

“His wife just had a baby. We were surprised yesterday (Friday), that he took his own life. Before he committed suicide, he spoke to some colleagues on Wednesday, complaining bitterly on his inability to access medical facility and becoming very ashamed of begging friends for money to treat himself.

“We are aware some friends in Lagos and Benin have done their best in the past few weeks by providing money for him and yesterday he took his life by hanging. We are very much aware that the suicide he committed was as a result of lack of money.”

“As far as we are concerned, we, staff of the college, are pained. Our people are going through a lot and dying but this is an extreme case because of the way he took his own life. Edo State government should please listen to us. Now, school is about to resume. Our members can’t even pay the school fees of their children. What have we done to deserve this? We are pained by the loss of this senior colleague, a principal lecturer. We are not happy.”

The remains of late Mr Orobator have been deposited at a mortuary by men of the Oba market Police station.

He is survived by his wife and four children.

What Buhari must do quickly to avoid Nigeria breaking up – Pastor Adeboye

on
 October 3, 2020
[Image: Pastor-Enoch-Adeboye-biography.jpg]

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has advised the federal government to restructure Nigeria, in order to get rid of secession agitations and its economic challenges.

Adeboye stated this while speaking at the 60th Independence Day Celebration Symposium organized by RCCG and the Nehemiah Leadership Institute on Saturday.

According to the respected cleric, the President Muhammadu Buhari administration must carry out the restructuring of the country “as soon as possible” to avoid a breakup of the various social-ethnic components.

The 78-year-old further suggested the adoption of a merger of the British style of government and the American system of government.

“Why can’t we have a system of government that will create what I will call the United States of Nigeria? Let me explain. We all know that we must restructure. It is either we restructure or we break, you don’t have to be a prophet to know that one. That is certain – restructure or we break up.

“Now, we don’t want to break up, God forbid. In restructuring, why don’t we have a Nigerian kind of democracy? At the federal level, why don’t we have a President and a Prime Minister?

“If we have a President and a Prime Minister and we share responsibilities between these two so that one is not an appendage to the other. For examples, if the President controls the Army and the Prime Minister controls the Police. If the President controls resources likes oil and mining and the Prime Minister controls finance and inland revenue, taxes, customs etc. You just divide responsibilities between the two.

“At the state level, you have the governor and the premier, and the same way, you distribute responsibilities these people in such a manner that one cannot really go without the other. Maybe we might begin to tackle the problems.

“If we are going to adopt the model, then we need to urgently restore the House of Chiefs. I have a feeling that one of our major problems is that we have pushed the traditional rulers to the background and I believe that is a grave error.

“Without any doubt, we must restructure and do it as soon as possible. A United States of Nigeria is likely to survive than our present structure,” Adeboye said.
