MInistry of Science settled N2m debt with N17m vehicles – Senate

The Ministry of Science and Technology has been accused of “giving out two vehicles worth N17m to pay N2m debt it owed contractors."

This bizzare settlement was uncovered by the Senate Committee on Public Accounts after the Auditor-General of the Federation, Anthony Ayine queried the ministry over the disappearance of two official vehicles with registration M50-10FG and MGO-12FG in a report submitted to the Senate.

Ayine revealed that during the verification of non-recurrent assets of the ministry, it was discovered that the two vehicles were not seen and their whereabouts was not explained.

However when grilled by the senate committee, the permanent secretary of the ministry, Edet Akpan said the vehicles were seized by a court as result of debt the ministry owed contractors.

Chairman of the committee, Senator Matthew Urhoghide however rejected Akpan’s explanation and further stated that there's no evidence that the vehicles were given to the contractors through court order.

Bride-to-be expresses outrage after ordering wedding gown online and receiving one that looks nothing like the pictures (photos)

A bride-to-be ordered a wedding gown online for her big day but was disappointed when the outfit was delivered.

Meaghan Taylor, 23, bought the gown for £60 on Wish but the gown looked nothing like what was advertised.

The dress was meant to be a flowing, puffy dress with a V-shaped neckline. But she was left with an ill-fitting garment that rode up her body when she tried it on.

What was delivered

The mum-of-one said: "I was blown away by what I received. It looked nothing like the photo when I ordered it.

"I was pretty heartbroken, but I couldn't help but laugh."

Meaghan contacted the private seller on Wish and asked for a refund – but getting her money back was a bit of a battle.

She said: "I did ask for my money back.

"But they had told me I needed the original packaging and the box it had come in, which I didn't keep.

"I then proceeded to tell them that this ruined my wedding as I was expecting the dress in the photo.

"And they finally returned my money."

What she ordered

Meaghan, who is looking forward to marrying fiancé Keith Reid, 30, next summer, took a picture of herself in the dress and posted it to Facebook with the caption: "On another episode of what we ordered and what we actually got.

"My face tells exactly how I'm feeling. Show me your online fails."

The post went viral with many laughing at how the wedding gown looked in real life.

Power Tariffs Reversal Push By Labour Hits Brickwall
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-08-2020, 09:31 AM - No Replies

• Panel members disagree on gas subsidy for GenCos

• Keyamo: we are making progress

Quote:Labour’s push for the reversal of hike in electricity tariffs may have hit the brickwall.

This is because of the high cost of gas – the critical component used by the Generating Companies (GenCos) to power their plants.

The GenCos sell power to the Distribution Companies (DisCos) which take it to the end-users.

Highly-placed sources close to the committee set up by the Federal Government to look into the pricing of electricity said there has been no agreement among committee members as to whether gas is subsidised or not.

Labour threatens to call workers out on strike to protest last month electricity tariffs.

The setting up of a seven-man committee to review the electricity tariffs is the product of negotiation to starve off the industrial action.

The government also compelled the DisCos to put on hold for two weeks, the new tariffs to enable the committee to meet and submit a report.

The deadline for the committee expires this weekend.

The Technical Committee is made up of Minister of State for Labour and Employment Festus Keyamo, (Chairman); Minister of State Power, Godwin Jedy-Agba – member; Chairman, National Electricity Regulatory Commission, Prof. James Momoh – member and the Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Infrastructure, Ahmad Rufai Zakari as Secretary.

Others are: Dr. Onoho’Omhen Ebhohimhen – member (NLC); Deputy President of the NLC and Secretary-General, Nigeria Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), Comrade Joe Ajaero – member; Comrade Chris Okonkwo – member (TUC) and a representative of Power Distribution Companies (DisCos) – member.

It was gathered that one of the recommendations on the table is a further halt in the implementation of the new tariffs beyond the two weeks.

The source said: “We have not really concluded. We will conclude this week, but the conclusion of the work of the committee this weekend cannot give us what Nigerians are looking for. It is not a factor that you just wake up and say it is this amount and it is not this amount. There are some other determinants.

“Let me give you this without making reference to the work of the committee. The greater chunk of the money is spent on gas. Gas is their main source of generation. They had to now dollarise gas before they now price it at the GenCos.

“If GenCos now allegedly buy gas in dollar, then they now pass the dollar price to consumers.

“If we are able to address this matter by looking at policy directives especially on gas pricing, if we go through that process, then definitely we are going to puncture the issue of tariff no matter what they are going to pay.

But where we are having serious divergence is on the issue of whether actually there was subsidy. Some of us said there is no subsidy but the government is claiming there is subsidy.

“These are still not things you can do within two weeks. So, the work of the committee may take more time to look at it critically. We are trying to see if there is anything we can do in order to submit our report within two weeks deadline.

“But the job that will lead to a reversal is not a job of two weeks. Some of them require policy direction.

“We will revert to the house at the end of the two weeks to submit our report. If they succeed on sitting in this freeze (suspend the implementation of the tariff) until the final report is done, fine.

“If we are able to get this minor relief until the final report is done, fine. That is what we are working on for now. We are still working but we have not fully agreed on anything to push out to the people now.”

The source said the two weeks given to the committee to work on the issue was not enough.

“We are working tomorrow through the weekend. We have done a lot of reading and consultations with stakeholders. We need to tidy up our report and submit and take another directive.

“You can’t do within two weeks and say reverse. If you know how these people are buying gas, the question will be — should they buy it at this rate? We will find out. We also need to look at the policy in the oil and gas sector in terms of dollarising gas before.

On the need to further suspend the implementation of the new tariff, another source said: “Those are things we have not agreed upon. These things are on the table, options are on the table. Before the weekend we will concretise those options.

“Even those things you are saying now we have not agreed on them until they are ratified by our bosses. But options are on the table.”

Keyamo declined to comment on the work of the committee when contacted last night.

He said: “We are making progress. When the larger house meets, most likely this weekend, the details of the communique may be made known but like I said we are making progress, the details I cannot reveal now but we are making progress.”

The Seven-man Technical Sub-committee to review the increase in electricity tariff by the Federal Government was inaugurated on September 28.

The committee had its first sitting at the minister’s conference room last month.

The committee was set up at the end of a marathon meeting between the Federal Government and organised labour to avert last month’s planned strike.

The committee is expected to examine the justifications for the new policy in view of the need for the validation of the basis for the new cost reflective tariff as a result of the conflicting information from the field which appeared different from the data presented to justify the new policy by NERC and metering deployment challenges.

The other mandates of the committee are as follows:

° To look at the different Electricity Distribution Company (DISCOs) and their different electricity tariff vis-à-vis NERC order and mandate.

° Examine and advise government on the issues that have hindered the deployment of the six million meters.

° To look into the NERC Act under review with a view to expanding its representation to include organised labour.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY 8TH OCTOBER.

WE ARE HIS “MANNER OF MEN”.

...What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? (Mark 4:41).

The Lord Jesus, when He walked the earth, was a marvel; a master over circumstances. One day, the disciples, in awe of Him, asked the question we read in our theme verse. This was after He hushed a billowing tempest to sleep..

On another occasion, the disciples had sailed far out at sea when they suddenly saw a figure walking towards them on the water; it was Jesus. Again, they wondered, “What manner of man is this that defies nature?” Think about His ascension to heaven! He simply levitated and went through the clouds into heaven.

It pays to know who Jesus really is. Until you know Him, you can’t have true faith in Him, and you wouldn’t know yourself. Here’s something most extraordinary: anyone who believes in Jesus receives the same life that He has. John 1:12-13 says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God…Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

Notice that the latter part says you’re born of God, meaning that you’re born of the same Word that became Jesus. 1 Peter 1:23 says, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” James 1:18 says, “Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth….”

We’re the same manner of men as Jesus, because we’re offsprings of the Word. No wonder John said, “...as he is, so are we in this world” (1 John 4:17). All of divinity was tabernacled in Jesus; He was God alive—walking and talking in a man’s body. That same fullness of divinity dwells in you today. Like Him, you’re the living, moving house of the living God. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

I’m the temple of the living God, His mobile headquarters in the earth today. In Him I live, and move, and have my being. The greater One lives in me; I’m filled with His fullness, and dispense the verities of the Kingdom in every place. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Acts 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

I affirm that my life is garnished by the Spirit of God! I’m the workmanship of God in Christ Jesus; created unto good works.

I’ll do good works on the earth because I am fashioned unto good works! I’ve passed from death to life; sin and all its rudiments have no power over me.

I’ve received an anointing from the Holy one and that anointing opens my understanding to all things. I am a student of the Word; I am taught by the Spirit of the Lord to look beyond these present moments and connect everything I do here on earth to eternity.

My choices and decisions concerning my family, job, and everything else about my life are founded on the Word. I am full of God’s might; I’m led and guided by the Spirit always!

I function by His power and glory today, full of the Spirit in wisdom, having a deep spiritual understanding of all things!

I receiveunparalleled advantages, increased grace, unprecedented favour, and prosperity, in everything I set my heart to do. Halleluiah! The power of the Holy Spirit is alive and active in me!

I’m confident of this very thing, that He who had begun a good work in me is able to perform it until the day of the Lord. Even now, I am strengthened with might by the Holy Ghost in my inner man!

I can do all things through Christ who energizes and infuses me with miracle-working ability! Glory to God. Hallelujah!

Fayose: Bode George And Makinde Want To Kill Me Like Bola Ige
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-08-2020, 08:41 AM - Replies (1)

Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Quote:Immediate past Governor of Ekiti State,  Mr Ayodele Fayose has accused the Governor of Oyo State,  Engr Seyi Makinde and former Deputy National Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George of masterminding the assault on him at the party's campaign rally for the Ondo State governorship election in Ondo town today.

Fayose  was making his way to the podium at the campaign ground when a hoodlum, ostensibly acting on instruction, moved towards him and removed his cap.

Reacting through his Media Aide,  Lere Olayinka, the former governor said despite the shameful act, he won't stop saying the truth concerning the running of the party in the Southwest zone and those who have failed to produce any result in Lagos State since 1999 will be made to retire.

He said he will make formal report of the incidence to the security agencies and the party relevant authorities,  noting that it was not something to be handled with levity as security agencies will have to unravel all the thugs brought to the event and their sponsors.

"That's how late Chief Bola Ige's cap was removed in Ile Ife,  Osun State then and we all know what happened later.

"So this one will not be ignored and treated as one of those things.

"The masterminds had it all planned and they followed it up by celebrating what they saw as the success of their plot. They even capped it up by circulating the video.

"So it was not an accident,  it was planned. But those who planned it only succeeded in advertising their political myopism because popularity of the brand Ayo Fayose, Osokomole cannot be rubbished by such childish act. That they must have seen in the reaction of the people at the rally and I am sure they know that they can't get such loud ovation even if they spend all the money in this world.

"As for me,  I am unperturbed and I must say it clearly that those newcomers to the PDP and their old allies, who won't mind soiling the image of the party to achieve their aims will not be allowed to succeed," he said.

Two women jointly win Nobel Prize in chemistry for first time in history

For the first time in history, two women have jointly won the Nobel Prize in chemistry.

Professor Emmanuelle Charpentier and Professor Jennifer Doudna won the 2020 Nobel Prize in chemistry for their work developing a method for genome editing.

The award takes the number of women who have ever won the Nobel Prize in chemistry from five to seven.

Both scientists will equally share 10 million Swedish kronor (£866,000) for their discovery of "one of gene technology's sharpest tools" - the CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing technique, or "genetic scissors" as the committee described it.

"Using these [scissors], researchers can change the DNA of animals, plants and microorganisms with extremely high precision," said the Nobel committee.

"This technology has had a revolutionary impact on the life sciences, is contributing to new cancer therapies and may make the dream of curing inherited diseases come true."

It is the first time the Nobel Prize for chemistry has been awarded to two women in the same year in its 119-year history.

The genome editing technique they developed is based on creating proteins which match the DNA code where a "cut" is going to be made.

This effectively allows researchers to insert, repair or edit a gene in such a way that the DNA doesn't see the change as damage, but as a legitimate edit to be replicated by the cell.

"There is enormous power in this genetic tool, which affects us all," said Claes Gustafsson, chair of the Nobel Committee for chemistry.

"It has not only revolutionised basic science, but also resulted in innovative crops and will lead to ground-breaking new medical treatments."

The discovery was described as an unexpected result of Professor Charpentier studying the bacteria Streptococcus pyogenes.

She discovered a previously unknown molecule, tracrRNA, in the bacteria and found that this molecule was part of an ancient immune system, CRISPR/Cas, that disarms viruses by cleaving their DNA.

"Charpentier published her discovery in 2011. The same year, she initiated a collaboration with Jennifer Doudna, an experienced biochemist with vast knowledge of RNA," the committee reported.

"Together, they succeeded in recreating the bacteria's genetic scissors in a test tube and simplifying the scissors' molecular components so they were easier to use," it added.

"In an epoch-making experiment, they then reprogrammed the genetic scissors.

"In their natural form, the scissors recognise DNA from viruses, but Charpentier and Doudna proved that they could be controlled so that they can cut any DNA molecule at a predetermined site.

"Where the DNA is cut it is then easy to rewrite the code of life," the Nobel committee added.

NDLEA Destroy Marijuana Farm Worth ₦1.5 Billion In Kogi
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 10-07-2020, 07:09 PM - No Replies

Quote:Kogi State Command, National Drug Law and Enforcement NDLEA on Wednesday destroyed the largest Cannabis Sativa farms stretching over four KM of land in the State.

NDLEA State Commander, Mr. Alfred Adewumi disclosed this while speaking with journalists during the destruction of the farm at Kara Forest in Agbokete Community, of Igalamela/Odolu LGA of the state.

Mr. Adewumi said Kogi state is gradually becomimg a producer of the illicit drug, said the destroyed farm is evaluated at N1.5 billion.

Adewunmi expressed worry over the changing status of Kogi State from a transit point to cultivating State of illicit drug, stressed he could not believe what he had seen on the farm.

His words,”I want to tell you that I am astounded, shocked, and perplexed that something as huge and enormous as this can be discovered in Kogi State.

“Our assumption is that Kogi State, even though it surrounded by some states that are notorious for cannabis Sativa cultivation, is just simply a transit point because of her strategic location. To discover that within Kogi State we can have a plantation of this huge proportion is something that has shocked me to the marrow,” he added

Adewumi said the startling discovery was a result of
intelligence gathered by the operatives of the command who had placed the suspect on surveillance and was subsequently arrested.

“I will simply tell you that it is a very enormous plantations of cannabis Sativa. It is not just one single farmland And of course, all of you have been on my entourage and we have walked within farms for over four kilometres and we are still within the farms. So to begin to describe what I have seen today is simply to tell you that I am shocked that Kogi State is now being used as a place where Cannabis Sativa is being
cultivated so extensively”.

He explained that the farm looks like it was a community business, as it beats logic for over four killometres of arable land to be dedicated to the cultivation of the illicit drug without the community raising eyebrows.

“I must tell you that what we have here is far in excess of the 7.5 hectares of Cannabis Sativa we discovered sometimes in mid-September. If you put all of these farms together you will see we will be talking of over 35 hectares of cannabis Sativa
plantation. To begin to talk about the market value, to be frank with you we are talking about more than N1.5 billion of cultivated illicit drugs here”, he added

Adewumi commended the Kogi State government for the support given to the agency to carry out their duties

He stated that the cannabis farm owner, Ameh Joseph will soon be charged to Court, adding those involved in cannabis Sativa should desist as the command will leave no stone unturned towards ridding the state of illicit use and cultivation of drugs.

The suspect, Ameh Joseph however said he was the owner of a section of the farms and not the entire farms, stressed that he only ventured into the business when he had an economic crisis.

Joseph pointed out that he had once been employed as farm manager in charge of cannabis Sativa at Ogbese in Ondo State in 1995 with a yearly salary of N100, 000 before he stopped to ventured into good business; until recently when it nose-dived and he has to embraced cannabis Sativa as an alternative.

The suspect who was full of regret said he will never go back to the cannabis business again, warned other youths not to involve in any illegal business because it will backfire one day.

13-Year-Old Girl Brutally Raped In Benue, Found Almost Lifeless (Photos)

A 13-year-old girl lost lots of blood after she was brutally raped by a 20-year-old man in Wadata area of Makurdi, the Benue State capital, IgbereTV reports.

It was gathered that the profusely bleeding young girl, who sells a local delicacy in front of her house, was rushed to the hospital after the horiffic ordeal but her current condition is stated to be unstable.

According to activist, Ukan Kurugh, the suspect identified as Ali Usman has been arrested. However, the victim's family are under pressure to drop the case as they are poor and can't afford to go to court.

Narrating how the incident, Mr Kurugh said on Sunday evening, October 4, the suspect called the girl to bring him some food. On getting to his door, he dragged her into his room where he brutally raped her. Her scream alerted neighbours who broke into the apartment and found her covered in blood and almost lifeless.

Read details below:

Quote:"RAPE! THE UGLY MONSTER IS BENT ON DESTRUCTION. WILL IT DESTROY ALL OUR CHILDREN OR WE WILL KILL IT BEFORE IT DOES? THERE IS YET ANOTHER RAPE OF A MINOR, A 13 YEAR OLD GIRL AT WADATA MAKURDI.

The numerous rape cases especially involving minors have become too rampant and it is not just Sickening and saddening, it is indeed worrisome. Like a raving monster, this act of rape is capable of destroying all our children, none will be safe or spared if we don't act decisively.

Another rape case has been reported in the Wadata axis of Makurdi. This one is between one Ali Usman, adult of about 20years and a 13year old girl within the same neighborhood.

On this fateful rainy Sunday evening, the little girl who sells a local food called Awara, was selling it in front of the compound when this neighbor called that he wanted to buy.

He asked her to bring it into the room, she had brought it to the door and in the process of handing over the food, the young man dragged her by her hijab, covering her face and mouth, and preventing her cries from being heard outside.

He was so brutal, infact, the crime scene is better imagined than seen. She lost so much blood in the process and was so weak, but she didn't stop making efforts at screaming even with her mouth gagged up.

Due to the fact that it was raining, her screams couldn't be easily heard. But with her persistence, the cries finally got to the neighbours and on breaking in, they met her almost lifeless.

She was rushed to the hospital and it was discovered she had lost so much blood. Her PCV was just about 19%.

I was called at the hospital by Mrs Bai and I was able to raise some money for her treatment. The parents had no money on them.

I enquired if they have reported the matter to the police yet, and they answered in the affirmative. The Rapist has been arrested.

I moved them to the Police hospital yesterday where more tests were run on her. I left them after some time and I was later called that she had fainted again, and was rushed to the hospital. Obviously, more damage has been done to her than we can imagine.

The family has no money and is really reluctant in pursuing the case. Infact a family member advised that charges be dropped as they cannot afford to go to Court. But I stopped them, this is not a matter to be left unattended to. Justice has to be pursued, and with all sense of seriousness.

I am using this opportunity to call on FIDA, individuals and all other concerned bodies. This case needs all the support it can get. If this is left in the hands of the girl's family alone, there may be no case against the rapist and that will make one more monster on the loose, looking for the next available victim.

Please, let's help this 13year old get Justice. She deserves nothing but Justice."

Nigerian man and his Indian girlfriend arrested for duping people by posing as British citizens

The Cyber cell police in Bhopal, India have arrested a Nigerian man and his Indian girl friend for duping people on the pretext of sending them expensive gifts.

The accused identified as Augustine Udekwe and Lalhmunsiyami were arrested from Delhi, police said on Tuesday, October 6, adding that both accused lived together as lovers and pretended to be British citizens in order to defraud their victims.

Udekwe has been living in India since 2015. His visa has expired. The police have written a letter to the embassy post his arrest in the case.

Giving details on their modus operandi, police said they would befriend women and men on social networking sites after thorough research. They would then take their contact numbers and would start chatting on WhatsApp.

After befriending and taking them into confidence, the accused would call them and say that they have sent a gift to them from the US and UK. Later, the victim would receive a call that their gift has arrived and they will have to pay customs duty.

The victim would pay customs duty amount sought by the accused in a bank account. Once the amount was deposited, the accused would stop contacting the victims who kept waiting for their gifts.

According to a cyber cell officer, most victims hesitate in approaching police after being duped. This is the reason that police do not have the exact number of people duped by them.

The recent arrest was made after a woman filed a complaint with police. According to the police, on 07 August 2020, a Bhopal-based woman lodged a complaint that she had befriended a British young man on social media, who told her he will send her an expensive gift.

A few days after the conversation, the girl got a call from someone who claimed to be a customs officer. The person told her that a very expensive gift was sent to her and she has to pay delivery, penalty charges and money laundering fees otherwise legal action will be taken against her.

According to her, she got scared and deposited about Rs 3 lakh 5 thousand in the accounts. After depositing the money, the fake customs officer demanded for more money but when she refused the person stopped talking to her. That was when she lodged a police complaint.

The cyber cell police immediately launched an investigation. Both the accused were arrested by police from Mahavir Inclave Part-2 Uttam Nagar in Delhi.

Police said a similar fraud was reported in September 2019 wherein the accused had duped victims of Rs 71 lakh. One of the accused in the case is on the run.

Furthermore, when Police investigation was extended to the address given by the suspect in Lagos State, it was discovered that their destination was a business premises that has been abandoned for several years.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police,CP. Bola Longe has directed that the case should be transferred to state criminal investigation department, Lafia for exhaustive investigation and unite the victims with their families.

The CP appealed to residents of the State to be wary of criminals who disguise as destiny helpers in order to perpetrate their evil agenda.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, Haruna Mohammed, dislosed that police operatives attached to Ogidi Division led by the DPO CSP Ekuri Remigius, received a report of the tragic incident, and visited the scene.   Garba Shehu’s ‘Attack’ On Adeboye Was To Rebuke Osinbajo - By Fredrick Nwabufo
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-07-2020, 01:49 PM - No Replies

Quote:By Fredrick Nwabufo

I believe you have all noticed. Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo is regaining his stature and waxing reformist on some of the problems dogging Nigeria. He is breaking out of the supposed cabal-stitched straitjacket into a tinderbox of chutzpah. It seems he has elected to remove the duct tape from his mouth at this time. But it is puzzling why the vice-president is picking this time in the life of the administration he represents to pipe up. Is there a 2023 graph under plot?

Really, Nigerians pined to hear Osinbajo, a professor of law and senior advocate of Nigeria, talk up when the Buhari administration dispatched DSS agents to desecrate the residences of judges in the most ungodly hour. Nigerians strained their ears in vanished hope that even a whisper of condemnation against the assault on journalists and activists by the government will be let out by the vice-president. Even if not spoken, there are unspoken gestures the vice-president could have used to convey his position on the extra-judicial exertions of the administration if he really differed.

Yes, Nigerians longed to hear Osinbajo speak up for those massacred in Southern Kaduna; those kidnapped and killed by bandits. The vice-president held so much promise even in a very unpromising government. There was wild jubilation when he was acting president – at the time President Muhammadu Buhari was on a medical sojourn in London. But he failed to level up to the expectations. He simply refused to call a spade a spade when the graves of innocents were being dug.

However, Osinbajo appears to be speaking up, or spouting off now – whichever way you want to look at it. His belated activism though approving, flagellates cynicism. He veered off the old, dribbling path when he said in September poverty was deepening daily in the country – against the government’s duplicitous stance that it is cutting hunger by the torso through its social investment schemes.

In his words: ‘’… every single day the poverty situation and the economic distortions deepen….”

Also, just a few days ago, Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), said at an event where he represented Osinbajo that there were ‘’cracks in the walls’’ and that Nigeria risked a breakup. Even though Osinbajo did not make the statement himself, his bearing on the current state of the country speaks well enough.

In addition, the vice-president recently spoke in favour of merit over federal character in appointment into government offices. For me, this is a real dig at the spleen of an administration that has chalked up notoriety for sectional, zero calibre and incompetent appointments.

He said: “I need to make this point because time and time again, we get arguments around whether the appointment of persons into public institutions should be based on federal character. The dominant principle should be merit.’’

Therefore, it is not nonplussing that the quick-witted intervention of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), on the restructuring debate rankled a certain camp at the presidency. Adeboye is the spiritual father and mentor of Osinbajo. You can tell that they both soup in the same ideological bowl.

Without any scintilla of doubt, Adeboye’s deposition that if Nigeria is not restructured it will break up is beyond reproach.

The cleric said the obvious but with a roar: “Why can’t we have a system of government that will create what I will call the United States of Nigeria? Let me explain. We all know that we must restructure. It is either, we restructure or we break up; you don’t have to be a prophet to know that one. That is certain – restructure or we break up.

“Now, we don’t want to break up, God forbid. In restructuring, why don’t we have a Nigerian kind of democracy? At the federal level, why don’t we have a president and a prime minister?”

Really, it is disturbing that a section of the presidency is picking a bone with this patent fact. The section of the presidency in the pursuit of its agenda against the other, dug into the mud for slingshots under the cover of a polarising debate. My deduction, Osinbajo is the subject of Garba Shehu’s press statement glibly targeting Adeboye and others of kindred opinion. Though Shehu did not mention the name of the cleric explicitly, the trajectory of the dart was clear. The press statement was needless in that virulent form.

‘’The Garba Shehu section of the presidency’’ cannot openly respond to the utterances by the other feuding section of the presidency without sending out a vibe of discordance at the villa, so proxies and associates take the hit. It is a one of kind presidency.

Osinbajo must maintain his candid-speaking tempo, if he wants the warmth and approval of the masses. But it will not come easy because he is a part of the system citizens are railing against. He must go beyond words and walk the rope. He must be genuine about of his ‘’activism’’. If it is the 2023 election that he is angling for by his reformist public statements, then Nigerians have already seen through his insincerity.

Ondo Election: Buhari, Tinubu Won’t Attend APC Grand Finale Rally - Independent
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-07-2020, 11:33 AM - Replies (1)

Quote:Ahead of this Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State, President Muhammadu Buhari will not attend today’s grand finale rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Daily Independent has gathered.

A presidency source told our correspondent that the president who has a very busy itinerary today will be represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Our correspondent also gathered that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the party, will also not be in attendance.

A top party source and close associate of the former Lagos State governor said while he is in total support of Akeredolu’s reelection, his decision to stay away from the rally “may be due to precautionary measures owing to the COVID-19 pandemic”.

He, however, said several serving state governors, deputy governors, former governors and serving ministers will be led to the rally by Governor Mai Mala Buni, who is chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of the party and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, who is the chairman of the National Campaign Council of the APC in Ondo State.

Tinubu was present during the flag-off of the party’s campaign in September where he also commissioned some projects completed by Akeredolu.

The rally will mark the end of campaign activities of the party’s candidate, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his running mate, Lucky Ayedatiwa.

“The president will not attend the rally and that has been communicated to the APC leadership in Ondo State. He will be represented by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo”, our source stated.

In a related development, Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Donald Ojogo, has said residents of the state will be making a very wise decision by re-electing Governor Rotimi Akeredolu for second term in office.

Speaking with Daily Independent, Ojogo noted that the reelection of Akeredolu for a second term of four years would allow the governor to consolidate on his achievements and deliver on his campaign promises to the electorate.

Ojogo, who said Akeredolu is contesting on a tripod of hard work, performance and integrity, added that the people of Ondo knows the governor as a honest and forthright politician who will not promise what he cannot do.

He said replacing the governor will amount to abandoning major ongoing projects in the state such as the Deep Sea Port and other laudable projects the governor couldn’t complete in his first term.

“Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has performed creditably well in his first term in office. He is determined to do more if given the opportunity to come back for a second term.

“The administration of Governor Akeredolu has initiated the process of establishing a deep sea port in Ondo State. Only his return for a second term can drive this process through. Else, all the progress made on the deep sea port will be abandoned by another governor just like Mimiko abandoned it for eight years.

“There are new projects that cannot be finished in his first term. There is a need to return him for a second term so that these projects will not be abandoned. Despite the various projects he has completed, Governor Akeredolu is still initiating new projects”.

I'm pretty certain that it buy mt nba 2k21

I play MyCareer and I absolutely hate that it is Nba 2k21 Mt an internet only mode, which is basically a"two year rental" until they pull the plug. No, I don't need the neighborhood. Make MyPark another manner. Requiring online judt because of the money and a style I hardly use is so fucking bullshit.

I'm guessing they place a filter on the sound to avoid a takedown since there's several music playing through the game? Is this the state of the officially licensed sports sport? It seems like it was executed in fucking vr Chat by some casual Garry's Mod modders. Him setting up multiple angles and even the light to perform so scan has been such a good build-up for this end result. Is it likely to be a convention at which xQc does the face scan on every new 2k game and it's completely different from him? That's because he probably hasn't. Have you ever seen the pile of garbage which builds up on the ground ? He does not even place things in a trash can.

He is like one giant ball of grease. I wish people would quit behind 2K (until they put out adequate gameplay) and that I wish EA could put a great Live. I remember when 2K was great. It is actually sad how it has become worse through the years. It is his"roommate" but she is seeing him in Canada while she begs for his visa to be renewed or whatever... I mean of course they're buddies at least but who knows really. Isnt it too dark in the area so the scanner thinks his skin tone is darker than in fact? Or why did they shut the mild for face scanning lol.

I'm pretty certain that it buy mt nba 2k21 just automatically ends up black if you don't specifically decide on a white haracter before hand. Magic when a brand new game will come out to give us some interesting clips. Feel as though LSF is only cutting edge farts at this time. I'm so stupid that I believed it messed up, so he simply reopened the create-a-character and he was meming on her reaction to what she believed was his player scan. I believe as if you just described that mode for every year out of the last 5 years at least lol. I literally can't recall a single one I enjoyed. They attempted pretty hard on the story this past year.

People argue for Madden 21 coins

Every additional sports game worth playing has this. Same can be said for some of the other ratings also, people argue for Madden 21 coins hours as soon as they come out every year. How would asserting about possible be another? This is actually a mod on pc. It seems so much more natural than the current system and in fact it increases the value of afterwards round draft picks.Yes that is what I meant. You don't usually find that kind of item in Madden. One thing that I wish is implemented is that if a dev trait occurs they get +3 update points instead of 10,000 xp. Some gamers specially qb who win awards which get a dev trait bump get 25% percent of 1 ability point. It would also create more late bloomer scenarios.

Or you can find situations where a player gets bumped to superstar but they do not meet the threshold of receiving an ability. Getting +3 points will help that.I overlook when we spent xp for upgrades. Also if they maintained this system they need to include attention points for offseason updates like how Aaron Rodgers focused on deep cries last offseason and he looks a lot better in that region up to now this year. Like a focus on rate or route running or catching would be fine.I love making this type of content so if there's something franchise related that you want to see covered, let me know and I'll do my best to create it!Anyone know how I can make a player and then play him as I am a proprietor in business mode?

Or do I need to create a player first then go into franchise mode?I've been saying this for some little while today. MUT ought to be a different free to play game which has micro transactions. Reserve this match to get an actually entertaining simulation soccer game. How about releasing a basic football simulation that has right stats, transactions without all the flash? Just give me a franchise style which works. Make that the stand alone game.

Ah the old times of detailed drive failures since the kicking team lined up instead of"10 plays for 80 yards" along with the buy Madden nfl 21 coins announcers acknowledging key players and the way their seasons are going pregame. What really irks me is the progression/removal system madden 21 has.

  OSRS would require improved revenue

Steam might be the thing which keeps RS3 alive for those that like this, and there are a whole lot of people around who enjoy RS3. Review bombing it is merely dumb, with no Osrs gold we wouldn't have OSRS now and without RS3 in the future OSRS would require improved revenue which would bring MTX to the fore.

RS3 still actually makes more money than OSRS. Without RS3 Jagex loses a whole lot of revenue and has to make it up somewhere or it simply collapses.

Then you're like me, and we are going to ignore it like we've been ignoring RS3 for ages. No need to fire the match when Jagex gave us exactly what we wanted, which was OSRS.

That's the whole point of consumer reviews, to let potential players are aware that the second an alternative popped up, you jumped ship because the product is garbage. Review bombing is bad, but so is avoiding any negative reviews.

MMOs are ever-changing beasts and not playing for a year or two can really set you out of this loop. In addition to the fact that, there were always choices to rs3. If you adore OSRS and had to wait patiently for it to come out to depart rs3, then you probably enjoy rs3 too, even if you hate some facets of it. Simply leave it alone. Leave the warnings to people who currently play with it.

I don't think he's saying to not depart valid criticism. He is asking people who perform osrs only (I quit runescape years back and didn't arrive back before osrs released on mobile so that I never played with rs3) not to fire the review board just because it's a popular to hate on RS3.

I read some more of OPs comments and he does seem to imply that you need to, for the good of the game, still not leave a negative inspection. I disagree with this opinion but nevertheless think that we should avoid flood the reviews unless you've played and have a legit grievance.

Idk me personally was a few levels off of Cheap Rs gold maximum on the market, or well at least was until archaeology, did quite a bit of PvM, and attempted making an alt on there lately. . I am not saying that is what you're saying by the way just saying it to say why.

The Anambra State Government has been commended for embarking on a cargo airport project in the state.

Senator Hadi Sirika, the Minister of Aviation, in a statement said that the cargo airport project would positively impact on the economic development of the state and the South East region as a whole.

A statement by James Odaudu, Director, Public Affairs, Ministry of Aviation, said that Sirika made the statement on Tuesday when he received Mr. Willie Obiano, the Governor of Anambra State in his office in Abuja.

Sirika assured the governor that the Ministry of Aviation and its agencies would always give the necessary guide and cooperation to states embarking on such projects in order to ensure that all internationally set standards were met.

The statement hinted that Sirika insisted airports could be viable if they were built with specific objectives in mind like the one embarked upon by the State Government.

Sirika expressed the belief that the Anambra airport would be successful in serving the interests of the trading population of the state and environs.

He charged the governor to sustain the ongoing collaboration with the regulatory authorities to ensure that all regulations and guidelines for the construction and operation of airports were met.

In his speech, Obiano expressed confidence that the Anambra International Cargo Airport, located at Umueri would be ready for commissioning in April, 2021 and hoped that Sirika would be available to commission the airport when completed.

He said: “We are sure of the date because we have the money to compete it. We are not asking for any assistance, neither are we taking any loans. I am here personally to brief you on the project and to invite you to commission it for us in April 2021.”

Obiano explained further that the decision to embark on the airport project was informed by the need to cater for the economic interests of the state and its environs.

The airport, he said, had the second longest runway in the country, after the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, built with the best available materials, with a guaranteed lifespan of 100 years.

“The airport is just a few kilometres from Onitsha town, the economic nerve centre of the south east region. It is strategically located and is a worthwhile investment.”

He stated that the construction of the airport has been guided by recommendations and guidelines of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) as it hoped to meet the best international standards.

Quote:Change Your Tactics, Attack Boko Haram In Hideouts, Borno Governor Tells Nigerian Army

Zulum, who has been attacked at least three times by the terrorists in less than a month, also said all heads of military commands must be competent if the war must be won.

BY SAHARAREPORTERS,

Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno State, has asked the Nigerian Army to attack Boko Haram hideouts if it intends to end the insurgency in the North-East.

The region has been plagued by violent extremism since 2009 and the situation has continued to escalate under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Zulum, who has been attacked at least three times by the terrorists in less than a month, also said all heads of military commands must be competent if the war must be won.

Babagana Zulum
He made the comment in Borno on Tuesday while speaking at a conference.

The governor said, “We must also have the courage to tell each other the common truth and be critical of the troops’ operations when things go wrong.

“As part of the ten-point agenda of this administration, the Borno State Government shall sustain its role as a stakeholder in supporting the activities of the Nigerian Army, through the provision of all the needed support and morale-boosting mechanism to all the security agencies to end the fight against Boko Haram crisis.

“In this direction, I wish to ask the Nigerian Army to change the war narratives all together in order to end the crisis.

“Attack, they say, is the best form of defence.

“The Nigerian Army must have to take the war to all the hideouts of Boko Haram.

“You should not wait and give the terrorists an opportunity for the first attack. You should as a matter of policy, embark on critical clearance operation after successful execution of attacks.

“The Nigerian Army must also embark on confidence-building and confidence sharing mechanism with the communities and civil authorities they find themselves, so as to expose the terrorists, their collaborators and sponsors.”

He called on Tukur Buratai, Chief of Army Staff, to deploy only commanders loyal and competent to man locations.

“Sir, in appraising the performance of the Nigerian Army, there is a need to look at the critical issues of competence, dedication and doggedness of officers and men of the Nigerian armed forces.

“Let me re-emphasise the need for having competent and dedicated officers to head the military commands; because from my little observation, it is noted that all the locations headed by competent and dedicated officers hardly fall into the hands of the insurgents. Therefore we have to weigh the importance of loyalty and competence, which is very important,” he said.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES,

WEDNESDAY 7TH OCTOBER 2020. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

TOPIC: MAINTAIN YOUR PASSION FOR THE GOSPEL

But that which ye have already hold fast till I come (Revelation 2:25).

As a Christian, every day presents opportunities for you to keep the faith and maintain your confession of who Jesus is and what He means to you.
Nothing should take your focus off the Master; He’s all that truly matters. Declare your love for Him, and your passion for the Gospel.

Some allow anger or bitterness to douse their zeal and effectiveness in ministering to others. Hebrews 12:15 says, “Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.” Don’t stop winning souls or become cold about the things of God because someone offended you.

The privileges of service we have in the house of God are sacrosanct; don’t take them lightly. You’ve been endowed with the ability and grace to lead people to Christ, unveiling to them the mysteries of the Kingdom; keep at it. There’s a crown of glory awaiting you at the end.

The Bible says those that turn many to righteousness shall shine as stars forever (Daniel 12:3). Keep shining evermore in leading many to Christ. Let it be your life’s work and priority.

CONFESSION

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I’m helped and energised. I’m inspired to share the Word and lead others to Christ and bring many into salvation. Amen.

[url=https://bit.ly/2XJkXnC]I affirm that the lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yes, I have a goodly heritage! I am filled with the fullness of God, loaded with all power, glory, might, and grace of divinity!

I am an associate of the God-kind, with the totality of divinity tabernacled in my spirit and uniquely expressed through me today!

I am known for excellence because I was born into it. I and the Father are one; he who has seen me have seen the Father. As the Father is, so am I in this world.

I have all the attributes of God. I’m indestructible; from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet, I’m inundated with divine life!

The life of God in me causes me to prosper in all that I do. I am like a tree planted by the rivers of water and I bring forth fruit always.

I do not know when the heat comes because my address is Christ. The grace of God is superabundance in my life; therefore, when men experience a casting down,

I am continuously lifted. I journey only in one direction: upward and forward! Goodness and mercy are my constant companions. Everywhere I go, I am a success!

The Word of God dwells in me richly in all wisdom, propelling me in perfection and excellence. I am perfect, proficient, and thoroughly fitted for every good work. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

Boy, 3, found dead alongside his mother and father after 'murder-suicide' at their home in west London

A 3-year-old boy was found dead alongside his mother and father at their West London home after a "murder-suicide".

Scotland Yard today, October 6, said they forced entry into the fourth-floor flat on Clayponds Lane in Brentford shorty before 1am this morning.

Officers found Kuha Raj Sithamparanathan, 42, suffering with stab wounds as well as the bodies of his wife Poorna Kaameshwari Sivaraj, 36, and their three-year-old son Kailash Kuha Raj.

Kuha, 42, was treated by paramedics but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Harding, from the Met's specialist crime command, said: "Although we are in the infancy of this investigation, it appears that Poorna and Kailash had been dead for some time.

"This is a murder investigation and my team will work diligently to establish the sequence of events that led to their murders and the death of Kuha Raj Sithamparanathan.

"Our initial enquiries have established that Poorna and Kailash had not been seen or heard from for some time, perhaps since around September 21."

It is believed that Kuha stabbed himself when officers entered the property.

The family's Cockapoo dog, which they would often be seen walking, is also believed to have been killed.

Scotland Yard said it had been responding to concerns about the occupants' welfare.

Police attended the address "several times" in the early hours of Monday but did not get a reply and after speaking with other residents became increasingly concerned and decided to try force entry, the Met said.

Shocked neighbours earlier today recalled hearing heated arguments at the Sithamparanathans' home over the past few months.

One neighbour who lives on the fifth floor told MailOnline: "During the lockdown I could hear them arguing a lot.

"I could hear her screaming at her husband, telling him to take his medicine. Then on another occasion, he threw them out of the window, and I looked down and could see them on the ground."

Another neighbour added: "Things got really bad between them, especially during the lockdown.

"They are one of the few couples with a young child in our block and you could hear the screaming at each other, sometimes for very long periods."

The couple married in Kuala Lumpar in 2015. They owned a pet dog that is believed to have also been killed.

Jamila, who lives in a neighbouring block said: "It's tragic. They loved their dog and I'd see them all the time taking him out for walks. They were a lovely family and none of this makes any sense.

"The officers told me that there was blood all over the flat and that the dog had also been killed."

Forensic officers in protective suits were spotted entering the police cordon this afternoon.

Next of kin have been informed of the deaths and post-mortem examinations are scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 8.

Peace Accord: Akeredolu Rejects Handshake With Agboola Ajayi

Quote:Three days to the governorship election in Ondo State, the candidates of political parties participating in the election have signed a peace accord as part of the efforts to ensure the exercise is violence-free.

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Eyitayo Jegede, and the Zenith Labour Party’s candidate and deputy governor of the state, Mr Agboola Ajayi, together with the candidates of other parties signed the accord.

However, there was a mild drama at the conclusion of the event as Akeredolu refused to shake hands with the deputy governor.

The Master of Ceremony had asked the three major candidates to embrace, shake hands or bump elbows with one another as a sign that they had embraced peace.

Akeredolu greeted PDP’s candidate, Jegede, by bumping elbow with him as requested by MC but when it was the turn of his deputy, the governor refused to shake hands with or embrace him.

Instead, Akeredolu just waved at Ajayi.

The event was organised by the National Peace Committee in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission and held at the International Events Centre, Akure, the state capital, on Tuesday.

Traditional ruler, five others killed as suspected Fulani militia attack Plateau State community

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani militia have killed a traditional ruler-elect and five others in fresh attack in the Wereng community, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

It was gathered that the gunmen disguised as vigilante, stormed the village by storm around 10 pm on Monday night, October 5 and positioned themselves at various points while some of them advanced into the community.

According to a source, the gunmen released several gunshots into the air to scare the inhabitants from coming out of their respective houses, adding that in the process a Prince Chungyang Mwandkwom Tenwong waiting to be coronated as the next Gwom Wereng, the traditional ruler of the community was killed in his house.

A villager who gave her name as Grace Choji said, "At first, we thought that the gunmen were vigilante members because of the way they dressed and passed. But suddenly, they started shooting at everyone in sight, and that when we knew that the village is under attack,"

Others killed in the raid include Pam Bako Pwol (the prince’s cousin), Davou Kwal, Linus Raphel, Mrs VouPam and Miss Evelyn Peter, adding that the three others that were seriously wounded are now receiving treatment at the Plateau State Specialist Hospital.

A member of the State House of Assembly, representing Riyom Constituency, Hon. Timothy Dantong, who confirmed the incident, described the killings as barbaric.

He lamented that it was unfortunate that the incident was allowed to occur despite the earlier alarm raised by the Senator and other stakeholders calling on the government and the security agencies to protect the citizens.

He added that among those killed was the acting Gwom Wereng, waiting to be installed as the ruler after the demise of his father.

He narrated that there was a rumour prior to the attack that Fulani herdsmen were coming to attack the community, adding that security agencies were informed but nothing much was done to avert the attack.

“There was a rumour prior to that attack that they were coming to attack the community, the security agents were told. Well, they did their best but I don’t think it was good enough to safeguard the community, because as at the time it happened there was no presence of security men in the community. Wereng is not too much a remote area, if they were swift, the attackers would have been apprehended," he said.

“We all know the people that are doing this; the government is not taking drastic action to apprehend them. They are from the immediate community of Mahanga and others, no proactive measures to arrest them,”

Nigerians Are Taking Loans To Buy Food As 68% Of Households Suffer - NBS
User Avatar Forum: Market Place

Quote:Nigerians now taking loans to buy food as 68% of households suffer food insecurity

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says 68 percent of Nigerian households experienced moderate or severe food insecurity in August as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the national longitudinal survey on the socio-economic effects of COVID-19 on Nigerian households, conducted by the bureau in August, 51 percent of households used loans taken after the pandemic began to pay for food items.

“About one in four households were already indebted prior to the pandemic while nearly one-third have taken out new loans since the onset of the pandemic,” the report read.

“The food security situation in Nigeria remains precarious, even as the lockdown restrictions continue to be loosened,”

“The share of households experiencing moderate or severe food insecurity remained high at 68% in August 2020.”

Indebted households reported that 55 percent of the loans were obtained from friends or relatives.

“Loans obtained from more formal sources were far less frequent with only 9 percent of respondents reporting loans obtained from banks and microfinance institutions and 16 percent from cooperatives and savings associations,” the report explained.

“This could reflect barriers faced by Nigerian households to obtain formal loans in the face of a crisis and that many households instead must turn to friends and relatives for loans.”

The NBS reported that the overall share of respondents who are working is back to pre-pandemic levels.

However, six percent of the respondents have not worked at all since the pandemic began while 60 percent have experienced periods without work; which according to the NBS indicates instability in the job market.

The data office said 1,881 households from the baseline were contacted and 1,789 households were fully interviewed.

A  24-year-old woman was struck dead by lightning two weeks after her wedding in Namukanaga village, Namungalwe sub-county Iganga district, Uganda.

The deceased, Kamuya Nabirye, died on spot after being hit by lightning as she sat on a bench inside her house, while carrying her three-month-old daughter during a heavy downpour on Monday, October 5.

Speaking to New Vision Uganda on Tuesday October 6, the deceased's husband, Awali Nabatya, who was sharing a bench with his wife at the time, said all he saw was a bright light strike through the window in the sitting room, followed by a loud bang.

Nabatya said he later saw his wife drop their three months old daughter before falling down on the floor.

"I realized that there could be trouble and I ran to my neighbors alerting them about what had happened," he narrated.

The Local Council 1 secretary for defense, Muzamiru Mudoola, said residents rushed to the scene only to find that Nabirye had already passed on.

Mudoola urged the government to provide residents with lightning arresters at a cheap rate, to avoid similar incidents.

He said four people have died in the same village after being hit by lightning since the start of the year.

The deceased had been officially married to her husband two weeks back, and they returned returned from their honeymoon two days before the unfortunate incident.

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, was admitted to bail in the trial presided over by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

by SaharaReporters, New York Oct 05, 2020
Senator Ali Ndume has submitted fake and forged documents to perfect the bail of former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, from prison.

Maina, who is standing trial on a 12-count money laundering charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, was admitted to bail in the trial presided over by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Maina was initially admitted to bail in the sum of N1bn with two sureties in like sum.

Both sureties must be serving Nigerian senators with no criminal cases before the court and must have fully developed landed property in Maitama or Asokoro district of Abuja.

After being unable to meet his bail term, the judge varied the bail for Maina to produce one senator, who must sign a bail bond in the sum of N500m and accompany Maina to court on every trial day.

Ndume, subsequently agreed to stand surety for Maina but rather than present original documents, he submitted forged documents to the court to perfect Maina’s bail.

According to Global Transparency and Anti-corruption Network, Ndume presented the property documents of a house owned by one Ahmed Lawal, deceiving the court that it was his.

Ndume also presented a forged Irrevocable Power of Attorney on the property, adding that the property in question had previously been forfeited to the government in a separate case.

In a letter written to the EFCC, the anti-corruption network described as “monumental and gigantic fraud” the forging of documents by Ndume for the bail of Maina.

The letter reads, “We wish to bring to your notice that the documents submitted in relation to the property Plot No: 158 Asokoro District bring No 93 Yakubu Gowon Street, Asokoro (subject property) the collateral used for the bail of Abdulrasheed Maina in the above criminal charge are forged and/or fraudulently misrepresented.

“The subject property is the corporate office of Fiscal Responsibility Commission Abuja, a Federal Government agency.

“The subject property is No 93 Yakubu Gowon Street, Asokoro, a property covered by C of O No: 17dew-d743Z-6e31r-e6D2u-10 in the name of Lawal Ahmed, which is forfeited to the Federal Government and handed over to Fiscal Responsibility Commission Abuja, for use as their office and therefore does not in any way belong to Senator Ali Ndume, the bail surety to Abdulrasheed Maina. The presentation of the property by Sen. Ali Ndume as collateral for bail is a gigantic fraud.

“The so called Irrevocable Power of Attorney dated 14, February 2018 that purported to irrevocably appoint Senator Ali Ndume, as the attorney of Lawal Ahmed over the subject property is also a fraudulent document since the property is forfeited to the Federal Government.

“The representation that the so-called Irrevocable Power of Attorney dated 14th February 2018 between Lawal Ahmed and Sen. Ali Ndume is registered at Abuja Geographic Information Services (AGIS) is a fraudulent misrepresentation as no such Power of Attorney has ever been registered at AGIS.”

The group also revealed that the photograph of the property known as Manor Terrace was submitted and fraudulently misrepresented as being Plot 158 Asokoro District covered by the C of O and by the purported Power of Attorney, whereas, Plot 158 Asokoro District is numbered as No: 93 Yakubu Gowon Crescent Asokoro, situated four property blocks away from ECOWAS Secretariat.

The Global Transparency and Anti-corruption Network called for fresh charges to be instituted into the case of Maina and Ndume.

The group raised the alarm that with the presentation of forged documents, Maina could easily abscond the country and flee trial.

“With these monumental fraud and forgeries the court was misled into certifying that Abdulrasheed Maina had fulfilled his bail conditions which led to his release from prison, setting the stage for an imminent flight and disappearance of Maina and making a mockery of the judicial and prosecutorial systems of the nation and above all rewarding impunity and brigandage.

“The enormity and scale of the fraud perpetrated by Abdulrasheed Maina and his accomplices should necessarily lead to fresh criminal charges, apart from the above titled charge for which he is presently being prosecuted.”

"As a doctor, I've never seen anything like it" Nigerian boy's genotype reportedly changed from SS to AA

A Nigerian boy's genotype has reportedly changed from SS to AA and a medical doctor who claims to have been handling his case has spoken about it to convince critics that it really happened.

The boy, named David, was reportedly born with the sickle cell anaemia. Dr Imoh Ebong claims she's been handling his case for years.

A Twitter user with the username Samsparrow Shalom took to the platform to claim that David's genotype is now AA after years of being SS and suffering as a result.

Shalom wrote: "From SS to AA. We need to hear more Testimonies in this our generation. Make e no look like say Heaven go strike on us. God remains faithful!"

A lot of people were skeptical and said there must have been a mistake or a medical explanation for it.

A Twitter user, Love Ojimba then claimed the same thing happened to her, writing: "Glory to God. Earlier this year God did the same miracle for me. He changed my genotype to AA, had to check 3 times at different hospitals to be sure. He indeed does miracles."

As the post started generating conversations around the possibility of genotypes to change miraculously, a medical doctor who claims she has been handling David's case weighed in.

Dr Imoh Ebong wrote: "David is AA!!! He was SS and his genotype changed (A MIRACLE)!! As a doctor, I’ve never seen anything like this neither can I explain it medically. I’ve been involved in his management and several repeat investigations- AA, AA!! What God cannot do does not exist. #NSPPD."

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

TUESDAY 6TH OCTOBER.

YOU HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED.

After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I AM THY SHIELD, AND THY EXCEEDING GREAT REWARD (Genesis 15:1).

The underlined words spoken by God to Abraham in our opening verse reminds of what He said later to Aaron in Numbers 18:20: “…I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.” We understand from the Scriptures that the Lord apportioned inheritance to the different tribes of Israel except the Levites, to whom He said, “I am your inheritance."

How rich can you get when the Lord is your inheritance? How glorious would your life be? Psalm 24:1 says, “The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” Since this is true, then the earth and everything in it belongs to you because you’re His heir. Paul understood this and said, “...all things are yours” (1 Corinthians 3:21).

Now you can understand why your prayer times shouldn’t be spent asking God for things for yourself. What do you want to ask of one who’s already given you everything, including Himself? You have Christ, and Christ is everything.

This truth should change your mentality and life forever.
Is it strength you require? The Bible says He’s your strength! Therefore, testify like the Psalmist, “…the LORD is the strength of my life...” (Psalm 27:1). Is it wisdom you think you need? The Bible says Christ is your wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:30).

You’ve been granted all that you require for life and godliness; you’ve been launched into a life of glory, excellence and superabundance. No wonder the Psalmist exclaimed, “The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage” (Psalm 16:6). All things are yours!

CONFESSION

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed me with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. I’ve been granted all that I require for life and godliness, and I bless my world with the unsearchable riches of Christ and His Gospel that I bear, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Psalm 23:1 GNB The LORD is my shepherd; I have everything I need.

Ephesians 1:2-3 Grace [be] to you, and peace, from God our Father, and [from] the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly [places] in Christ.

2 Peter 1:3-4 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that [pertain] unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

I affirm that God has brought me into the life of ever-increasing glory. Everywhere I go, God’s glory is revealed and manifested through me. I am well positioned, and the Word of God is settled in my life! I am a child of the anointing,

I am bringing forth good things today from within me! My capacity has increased, and I have treasures in me with which to bless my world. I grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The eyes of understanding are enlightened, even as I walk in the centre of God’s will for me. I am full of life because I am born after the life-giving Spirit.

I am like a well-watered garden; there’s no infirmity in my body: no confusion in my spirit! As the Father had life in Himself, so had He given unto me to have life in me.

There’s life in my words, there’s life in my hands, there’s life in my family, there’s life in my ministry, there’s life in my career, there’s life in my
finances; there’s life in all that concerns me. Hallelujah!

My way is paved by the Lord, and nothing is permitted to happen to me by chance. I am a custodian of divine verities; I lack nothing! Everything that God has given unto me is sustained by the life of God in my spirit.

Whatever comes in contact with me, comes in contact with life! Nothing is permitted to die within and around me because the indestructible life of God is at work in me and in my world. Glory to God! Hallelujah!

Fake lawyer arrested while defending case in court in Ogun (photo)

The police in Ogun state have arrested a 47-year-old suspected fake lawyer, Tajudeen Idris, while defending a case at the Magistrates’ Court 6 in the Ifo Local Government Area of the state last Friday, October 2.

According to a statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, Idris was said to have appeared before Chief Magistrate I. A. Arogundade in a civil case between one Ifeanyi Chuckwu and Ayo Itori. He allegedly claimed to be a counsel from Tajudeen O. Idris & Co. Chambers and was representing one of the parties.

According to the police spokesperson, Idris's conduct and his manner of presentation before the chief magistrate aroused suspicion about his qualification as a lawyer.

Oyeyemi said Idris's action prompted the chief magistrate to ask him for the year he was called to the bar which he claimed to be 2009.

Quote:“But further enquiry revealed that his name was nowhere to be found among those called to the bar in 2009, hence the police were invited. Consequently, the DPO, Ifo Division, CSP Adeniyi Adekunle, detailed his operatives to the scene, where the suspect was apprehended and he is currently undergoing investigation.” the statement read

Oyeyemi added that the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, expressed concern over the increase in the number of fake lawyers swindling people of their hard-earned money as no fewer than five cases of fake lawyers had been reported since his assumption of office less than two months ago.

According to the PPRO, on August 12, 2020, 56-year-old Sylvester Ogbagu was arrested at Sagamu while parading himself as a lawyer; while one Adedeji Ebenezer was also apprehended on the court premises at Itori on August 5, 2020, while appearing for a client. Oyeyemi said Adedeji was tried and subsequently sentenced to three years’ imprisonment.
Quote:“Another suspected fake lawyer, Elijah Ayodeji Ojo, was also arrested at the Ajuwon Police Station on the 28th of June, when he came to solicit a so-called client, who was having a criminal matter with the police.

Likewise, one Lawrence Oyedunu was arrested in Sango Ota while presenting himself as a counsel to a suspect. The CP therefore called on the state branch of the NBA to put necessary machinery in motion to check the activities of these fraudulent people.

He also appealed to those who wish to be lawyers to take a cue from the determined effort of a traditional ruler in the state.

The Towulade of Akinale, who at 75 years of age, still endeavoured to go to the Law School because of his interest in the legal profession rather than impersonating.”

Insecurity: Stop Lying To Nigerians, PDP Counsels Lai Mohammed

Quote:The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has counseled Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed to desist from telling Nigerians lie on the security situation in the country.

Incessant attack by Boko Haram terrorists has peaked inn recent times with Babagana Zulum, Borno state governor suffering attacs on three occasions while his security aides were killed.

However, the Minister recently said his position in 2015 that Boko Haram had been technically defeated was based on what he saw on the ground when he led a team of local and international journalists to the epicentre of insurgency.

“I stand by what I said that Boko Haram is technically defeated. What we are having today is global terrorism where you have the ISIS, ISWAP Al-qaeda all working together,”.

Speaking in a chat with Daily Independent, Kola Ologbondiyan, national publicity secretary of the PDP said the Minister has been economical with the truth on the issue of insecurity in the country.

“Alhaji Lai Mohammed is the Minister of Information. So, he will want to say what Mr. President and the public will want to hear such as Boko Haram has been technically defeated. But Nigerians know the reality that the government of President Buhari has failed on its promise to secure our nation. That is the truth and how they want to receive  it is a different thing entirely”.

“That is why many Nigerians including members of the National Assembly have appealed for a rejig of the security architecture of the country which they  believe will go a long way  in helping the security situation of the country. But the manifest failure of this government in the area of security is very clear for everyone to see”.

“Alhaji Lai Mohammed is only saying what the President wants to  hear . He says anything to suit the government but Nigerians who know he is not saying the truth about the situation of things. That is why Nigerians are teling the President to take practical actions and take the issue of security more responsibly.’

Quote:“Policing in Nigeria continues to fall short of modern practices where citizens should be treated with utmost respect and decorum, therefore making it very difficult for an average citizen to truly trust that the police are their friends."

Two university students fighting for life in hospital after falling from balcony while taking selfie

Two university students are in the hospital after falling four floors from a rooftop while taking a selfie together during a party.

The unnamed 19-year-old women were part of a gathering at an off-campus apartment building in Philadelphia, USA, when they fell at 2am on Saturday, October 3.

The Temple University undergraduates fell onto the pavement of an alleyway alongside the building, and one remains in a critical condition in hospital.

The other patient suffered leg and ankle injuries during the incident. A group of young women were seen crying at the scene in news footage.

Fellow students later complained the rooftop safety barriers are inadequate, while neighbours said they hoped the accident would act as a wake-up call.

Arnav Johri said: "There's not enough room blocking you from falling off, so if you're drinking and you run right into it, it's really easy to slip right off because it only comes to like a little halfway between your knee and hip."

One neighbour said the coronavirus pandemic had not deterred students from partying.

Ada Banks said: "Just hope that someone learns from their example not to be on the roof. It happens all the time."

She added, the students are "still children at heart, and they have no fear".

The building's management company told local media that the rooftop is a deck with a parapet wall and railings.

Restructuring: Effective Leaders Listen, Sam Adeyemi Replies Presidency
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:Senior Pastor of Lagos-based church, Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi, has joined other prominent Nigerians to call on the Federal Government, led by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to urgently restructure the country to save it from collapse.

The cleric stated this on Monday in an apparent response to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu. The Presidency had in the statement described recent calls for the restructuring of the country as “recurring threats to the corporate existence of the country.”

The PUNCH had earlier reported that the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, had on Saturday called on the President to restructure the country “as soon as possible”.

Adeboye, who spoke at a symposium alongside the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; former Governor of Cross River State and former presidential aspirant, Donald Duke; and a former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, warned that it was either the country restructured as soon as possible or it broke up. “You don’t have to be a prophet to know that one,” he added.

The Presidency, in a reaction on Sunday night, had said, “The Presidency responds to the recurring threats to the corporate existence of the country with factions giving specific timelines for the President to do one thing or another or else, in their language, ‘the nation will break up.’

“This is to warn that such unpatriotic outbursts are both unhelpful and unwarranted as this government will not succumb to threats and take any decision out of pressure at a time when the nation’s full attention is needed to deal with the security challenges facing it at a time of the COVID-19 health crisis.”

Adeyemi, who disagreed with Shehu that the calls for the restructuring of Nigeria threaten the corporate existence of the country, stressed that effective leaders must listen to the views of citizens and take appropriate actions.

“When did it become a threat for citizens to express opinions, even if strong, about the structuring or restructuring of their country? Effective leaders listen,” Adeyemi wrote on his verified Twitter handle, @sam_adeyemi.

Quote:Nigerian Army colonel has been abducted by bandits after running into an ambush along Abuja-Kaduna Highway, military sources have told Peoples Gazette.

SB Onifade was on a road trip at about 3:00 a.m. on September 27 when he was abducted. He has yet to be found and no arrests have been made in connection with the violence, which occurred near the Olam Farms axis of the crucial highway.

The officer was not in military uniform when he was kidnapped, military sources said.

The Gazette learnt that the development has sent panic through the Nigerian Army Headquarters, which promptly issued a warning to officers to be wary of road trips.

Motorists have become increasingly fearful about using Abuja-Kaduna Highway amidst worsening exploits of kidnappers, whose number and intensity have failed to subside despite several interventions by security forces.

A spokesperson for the Nigerian Army did not immediately return requests seeking comments about Mr. Onifade’s abduction Monday afternoon.

SARS Demanded N1m As Bail After ‘abducting’ Me, Nigerian Says
User Avatar Forum: News

Quote:Recounting his ordeal with SARS, the Nigerian, who does not want to be named for safety reason, said his friend and him were forcefully arrested, adding that the SARS officials threatened to kill him if he attempted to contact anyone for help.

A Nigerian youth has narrated his encounter with the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the police and how operatives demanded N1m bail to free him after an illegal arrest.

Recounting his ordeal with SARS, the Nigerian, who does not want to be named for safety reason, said his friend and him were forcefully arrested, adding that the SARS officials threatened to kill him if he attempted to contact anyone for help.

Describing the SARS officials as “real demons”, the youth said despite not finding anything incriminating on him, the officials demanded N1m before they would be released.

He said, “After checking our phones and finding nothing, they told my friend to get down from the car and get into their bus. He complied.

“In the car, they started to threaten me. Telling me how they will lock me up, chain me and no one would do anything about it.

“They told me that if I tried to call out for help again, they will shoot me and throw my body down and no one would find me. These guys are real demons.

“After driving for about one hour, they asked us to pay them N1m, which I asked why?”

He revealed that the SARS officials tortured and brutalised them while driving around the state.

He stated that he paid a sum of N100,000 to gain his freedom from the unjust arrest from the men.

“Seeing that we weren’t about to give them the money, they ended up bringing it down to N100,000, which they drove us to Zenith Bank along Osolo way, opposite SOS home where they made my guy get down from the bus to withdraw the money from the ATM.

“After they got the money, they let us go. Till now I still do not know my crime,” he said.

Nigerians have renewed the call for the scrapping of SARS following fresh extrajudicial killings of some youth.

Young People on social media also called for total rejection and reprisal attack against the unlawful activities of SARS operatives with the hashtag #WarOnSars.

Reacting to the outcry, the Nigeria Police Force has banned the Special Anti-Robbery Squad and other tactical squads from routine patrol as well as stop-and-search.

Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, in a statement on Sunday, banned the unit from engaging in routine patrol at the federal, zonal and command levels.
