A Pedophile man has been sentenced to 600 years imprisonment after being found guilty of forcing kids as young as 4 years old into sex acts.

Matthew Miller, 32, was sentenced in Alabama after prosecutors said he forced kids into making child pornography.

According to prosecutors Miller's acts  "robbed children of their childhood." as he made two kids under five make child porn.

According to a statement form the Department of Justice, Miller allegedly made the kids "engage in sexual explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual production of such conduct," the statement said.

Police officials found 102 pornographic images that Miller made of the kids when they carried out a search warrant, the US Attorney's Office of the Northern District of Alabama said in a statement.

Miller pled guilty to charges regarding the child porn images in October 2019 after facing 20 counts that were detailed in an indictment.

On Friday, October 2, Chief US District Judge L. Scott Coogler sentenced Miller to 7,200 months or 600 years in prison.
“The crimes for which Miller has admitted guilt are not only disturbing, they are sickening, and his actions robbed these children of their childhood,” FBI Special Agent in Charge Johnnie Sharp said in a statement.

He applauded the sentence, noting "Miller will spend the rest of his natural life behind prison bars.

A 16-year-old grade 10 learner, Alicia Mohlaloga was allegedly shot dead in South Africa by a police officer, who is also her neighbour.

It was gathered that the incident happened in the early hours of Friday, October 2, at Seshego Zone 1 EXT in Polokwane, Limpopo.

It is alleged that she was shot for no reason and that the police officer was under the influence of alcohol.

The police officer will on Monday, 5 October, appear before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder.

According to the Spokesperson for the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), Ndileka Cola, the officer, who resides in Seshego, requested transportation to Lethuli Park for himself, his wife and their child after their room had flooded due to heavy rain.

“It is alleged that when the person arrived at his home, the officer took his wife and child to the car. He then returned, stood in front of another room, which is rented by a woman and her 16-year-old daughter. The officer allegedly fired numerous rounds through their door, with one killing the teenager,” Cola’s statement read.

The police were summoned to the scene and upon arrival, immediately brought the matter to the attention of the Directorate. The officer was arrested and took the IPID to the spot where he had hidden the firearm.

Cola says the IPID are investigating the girl’s death as a result of police action.

Meanwhile South Africans have taken to Facebook to demand for justice for Alicia Mohlaloga. South Africa's Youth Command Limpopo, in a statement issued on Saturday, said they will be organising a protest march.

"Police officers and soldiers are the killers of our people this days. They are the ones who should protect us from human traffickers and crimes" the statement partly reads.

How APC Paid Billions To Win Imo, Kwara, Gombe, Zamfara, Benue - The Sun

Ahmed Wambai, ex-National Vice Chairman, North Central

•APC not a political party, but amalgamation of interests for grapping power

•2023 presidency, reason govs moved against Oshiomhole, Tinubu

Quote:Immediate past National Vice Chairman, North Central in the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Suleiman Wambai has let out some of the party’s well kept secrets why trying to explain the current power struggle threatening the foundation of the party. Wambai who spoke with ROMANUS UGWU in Abuja detailed how Adams Oshiomhole, the ex-National Chairman of the party doled out billions of naira to ensure APC won the governorship elections in Imo, Kwara, Gombe, Zamfara, and Benue state. He said APC is not a political party but an almagamation of interests just for the purpose of grabbing power and as he insisted that the battle to control the party ahead of the 2023 presidency led to the failure of the party to win the recent Edo governorship election, the sack of Oshiomhole and the gang up against a national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu by APC governors.

He boasted that despite losing the Edo governorship seat at the poll, the party would still remove Governor Godwin Obaseki on technical grounds using the courts. His words, “Oshiomhole was the only person that gave N20 million and N10 million contributions to all the Senators and House of Representatives candidates during the election. He was the only person that gave some governorship candidates of some states we desired to win like Imo, Kwara, Gombe and Zamfara N1 billion each, Benue, about N700 million.”

Is this the Nigeria of your dream?

Apart from our independence as a sovereign nation, the fact that Nigeria has remained an indivisible and indissoluble entity is enough to say that it is a country of my dream. There must be conflict and resolution in every establishment. In the conflicts, we must identify our differences and know how to consummate the differences.

The good thing is that we have been able to domesticate some of the factors confronting us as source of division and unity. There is no nation without its peculiar problems but the good thing is that the more problems we have the more solution we deploy in handling them.

We have so many tribes, religions in Nigeria but we have tried to use them to our advantage; to add value to the development of the country. We have tumbled and fumbled in our journey to greatness and have also converted some of the flaws to our collective benefits.

Why has it become very difficult for Nigerians to give President Buhari some benefits of doubt despite all he has achieved?

President Buhari came when this country was heading to the point of no return. The healthcare, social services, leadership, human dignity were all lost. There was so much decay in the country due to the 16 years misrule.

People from all corners of the country looked up to Buhari as a man of integrity, honesty. But there was a problem along the line. When he came with all the high expectations, nobody thought the situation will be like this. There was collapse in the economic indices. There was sharp drop in the price of crude oil in the international market.

He could not do any magic to change the narratives of the market equilibrium of price fluctuation in the global market. But Nigerians failed to understand that Buhari was handicapped in dealing with the forces controlling the crude oil in the market. The good thing is that nobody can accuse Buhari of lacking in integrity, or that he is a corrupt leader.

The biggest problem we have is the failure to realise that Buhari cannot be the governor of Nasarawa, Bauchi, Kano, Lagos and other states in the country. Corruption is already enshrined in our political system; economic, social and religious systems, including the clergies of the country.

The clergies and Ulamas are corrupt and Buhari cannot change them overnight. There is so much corruption in the land and the only way to kill it is by revolution. Anybody found guilty of corruption should be killed. I cannot imagine how this country will be in the next 20 years considering the fact that corruption is permeating the lives of the youths and children.

The biggest danger facing this country is that everybody is chasing wealth and riches. If only government will take strong stand against corruption so that whoever that is corrupt should be sanctioned heavily. If they do it successfully in China, we have to imitate the China model to live above board.

If political leaders should imitate Buhari, all the Ministers, Judges, heads of agencies will not be found wanting. We are becoming inherently sick otherwise, how can someone steal money as huge as N1 billion or $1 million? We have seen Nigerians with oil wells, estates, other investments, yet they are not resting. Surprisingly, whether they got them fraudulently or genuinely, they won’t invest in areas to help the people.

The religious and tribal differences are others constituting major problems facing the country. Everything is interpreted along tribal and religious bias. We have failed to capitalise on using such differences as a catalyst for the development of the country.

We have failed to realise that anybody that can provide good leadership should be regarded as a leader irrespective of his religion and tribe. It is unfortunate for this country that people have refused to change despite this journey of 60 years of independence.

Another serious problem is lack of ideological discipline by the political leaders. All those people in the PDP previously are now in charge of proceedings in the APC. They have held the leadership of the country hostage. We have seen politicians in APC today, PDP tomorrow and back to APC again in no distant time. We lack ideological consistency.

Will it be right to say that the APC has failed Nigerians having failed to fix all these problems you enumerated?

I won’t say with certainty that APC has failed Nigerians even though failure is inherently inbuilt in Nigerians. We will never do something to progress. The APC came with high enthusiasm to right the wrong. But, can we say that some of the Ministers are worthy enough to be one? Are they looking for money or rendering services?

The unfortunate thing in the APC is that we don’t have reward system. Those that worked and suffered for the party in all the states are not rewarded. Things are boomeranging because those that did not work for the APC are the ones rewarded and enjoying the fruits they did not sow.

There is no discipline in the APC till this moment. In the real sense of it, the APC is not a political party, but an amalgamation of interests for power quest and to wrestle power from the PDP. The Comrade Adams Oshiomhole-led NWC tried everything possible to redefine the objective and modus operandi of the party but the governors will not allow us.

The actions of the governors are the inherent behaviour of the PDP. In the constitution, the party is supreme but in the real sense of it, nobody cares in APC. It is a case of as far as I am a governor, I must have a control and the party must do his biddings. The governors’ quest for control and influence is what destroyed the APC and unfortunately under the influence of Mr President because he is a man of few words.

People took advantage to do everything they like using the name of Mr President. They just drop the name of Mr President everywhere and for their selfish aggrandisement. How can we operate in such way like we are in banana republic?

We cannot make any progress operating in such manner. We are in a country everybody does and acts the way he likes regardless of if he is infringing on another person’s right. The most painful thing is that they don’t care if Mr President is there or not. They take advantage of Mr President so much because he does not talk.

If it were Mr President of 1984, all of them could have been in jail. But if he takes them to jail, they will claim social stigma. They will accuse him of being dictatorial and that he is operating in an anti-democratic disposition.

He still remains a round peg in a round hole but unfortunately most of our people blame him while other political leaders are busy looking for money. Nobody is concerned about this country. Patriotism is completely missing.

Do you have any regret being part of the Oshiomhole-led NWC especially as they were blamed for being responsible for the problems of the party?

As far as I am concerned, Oshiomhole has paid his price and he has done well. Those people against him are the same clique against Mr President, Tinubu and the principle of the rule of law. They will object the moment things are not done their way. No party can function very well without discipline.

We supported Oshiomhole for two reasons. One is because he is our leader and we are supposed to be obedient to him as a leader. In the dissolved APC NWC, it was only about two or three persons that were anti-Oshiomhole. We would have gotten justice if we had gone to the court but we did not because of the interest of the party we have in our heart. APC is above every member of the party.

In the history of political party, Oshiomhole remains the only chairman that governors did not contribute money to the party purse under him. No governor contributed to the running of the party under Oshiomhole. We did that so that the party could be independent.

We never go cap in hand to any ministry for contract or patronages for the survival of the party. Oshiomhole was the only person that gave N20 million and N10 million contributions to all the Senators and House of Representatives candidates during the election.

He was the only person that gave some governorship candidates of some states we desired to win like Imo, Kwara, Gombe and Zamfara N1 billion each, Benue, about N700 million. We did all these from the purse of the party. In the history of political party, no one has done that. Ask me the source of the money, it was through the sale of our nomination forms. We deliberately raised the price of governorship nomination form to N22 million to reduce controversy, conflict and unnecessary competition.

We wanted to stop some unserious persons from picking the form. We even refunded the money of those that lost the primaries. Oshiomhole has never been dictated to by Mr President, the governors or the Ministers. That is the ideal way a party should run as enshrined in the constitution of the party.

Why are the APC governors against Oshiomhole?

They are against him because 2023 election is around the corner. Some of them want to be the next president, some want to be the vice president but they forgot that only God Almighty determines who becomes the next president and vice president. Many of them are living in illusion.

It was because of that interest that they connived and deceived the president. On several instances, they had wanted the Oshiomhole-led NWC to be dissolved but Mr President refused. But they used everything at their disposal in their desperation to sack us. We have left the party, let them run it, let them produce the president in 2023.

But if they are against Bola Tinubu, a major stakeholder in this party, there will definitely be a problem because he is too big to be sacrificed. I know that none of them dictating now, abusing Mr President and jostling to scheme out Tinubu will be able to deliver their zone.

Would the NWC have done things differently if given another opportunity?

In retrospect, what we would have done would have been to carry along and accommodate those interests we previously felt did not matter then. We were so serious to observe the stipulations of the party constitution.

What about the claims that no member of the NWC could challenge Oshiomhole especially on the issue of Governor Godwin Obaseki?

Challenging Oshiomhole is not the issue. You see, the governors have a cartel that no matter how bad you are as a governor, you must be allowed to recontest. The governors knew that Obaseki was not democratic by denying 17 lawmakers from being sworn-in. We did everything to settle this brouhaha but Obaseki refused. We involved the governors without knowing that they are in secret pact with him. The governors will say one thing before Oshiomhole and talk another thing behind him. We arranged a meeting between them, involving the governors, but Obaseki declined.

We arranged a meeting between them and the Senate President, yet Obaseki refused. He would have given Oshiomhole some level of respect for spending so much to make him governor. Oshiomhole is not the type that could request money from Obaseki. We asked him what was the problem with Oshiomhole but he said it was a matter of trust. He said Oshiomhole did not trust him, never allowed him to conduct his primary and even when we convinced him to conduct the primary, only four of his 24-men lost. It was a fair deal because you cannot get all in a democracy.

Why did APC lose in Edo governorship election?

It was pure conspiracy. Both PDP and APC members joined forces. But I tell you what, we have not lost that election. We are taking over Edo state on technical grounds. Obaseki has no paper and we are waiting to see the governor, any court or government that will prove that Obaseki is qualified.

Secondly, Obaseki lied under oath and received nomination forms from two political parties against the ruling of the Supreme Court. This is just a temporary celebration for him.

What is the zoning arrangement in APC ahead of the 2023 presidential election?

The constitution of the party is concerned about Nigeria’s unity. Zoning is an unwritten law in APC but we have to live with it. For this country to be socially, politically and economically stable, we have to be considerate. With the president coming from the north, vice president from the south, then by way of micro-zoning, the Senate President is from the Northeast, Speaker from Southwest.

As an apostle of zoning, I strongly believe that power should shift from the north to the south so that everybody will look at the APC as an umbrella of social mitigation. It was difficult for President Buhari to beat PDP until the southerners joined forces with us. I am sure that if Tinubu did not key into the merger, Buhari would not have won that election. For anybody sitting somewhere in the north thinking that power should not shift to the south, the person should be an enemy to the progressive tenet of the APC. The person is not only living in the past but a daydreamer.

This country cannot disintegrate because of the selfish ambition of certain persons to oppose the statutory eight years. If we want to live in peace in this country, we must accept and live with the reality of the fact that zoning must be maintained.

What is your advice to the Governor Buni-led APC caretaker committee?

Don’t forget that Mr President endorsed it and anything he endorses, is generally accepted in the spirit of leadership role. We will be disrespecting our leader by taking the case to court. The decision taken by Mr President did not go down well with us, but we have to swallow the bitter pill of democratisation. We did it in the spirit for the party to get direction.

I call on the caretaker committee to work assiduously to ensure that they did not put bias. They should not listen to one section of the party and ignore the other; the problem of the party will persist. I believe that the governor of Yobe state, a seasoned politician, who is the chairman of the party, will know the consequences of his action and inactions of negating one section of the party.

How true is the allegation that the Oshiomhole-led NWC was working for Tinubu 2023 presidency?

Let me tell you the honest truth, Tinubu did not bring a couple of members of that NWC into the APC national leadership. Don’t forget that we are all educated. We are men of integrity, representatives of our people, we have conscience. People are afraid of Tinubu so much like people are afraid of snake.

Sincerely speaking, Tinubu does not have Oshiomhole’s number. I know a couple of times Oshiomhole tried to reach him on phone, but he did not pick the calls. It was bad that we have to use somebody very close to him to let Oshiomhole talk to him. I am a big fan of Tinubu, but I cannot reach him because he does not know me.

I don’t know why the unnecessary exaggerated phobia for Tinubu, yet he is the only man that contributes to the survival of all states in the country. There is no governor that has not gone to Tinubu, either for court cases, getting a ticket and he has been up and doing in handling those romances.

There is no goal getter in APC like Tinubu. Everybody in APC who has the desire to contest in 2023 as a governor or president will need the support of Tinubu.

Garba Shehu: Using Tax From Herdsmen, Farmers To Subsidise Petrol Unfair
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-03-2020, 12:34 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Presidency says it will be unfair to use taxes collected from herdsmen and farmers to subsidise petrol which is only used by urban city dwellers and the elite.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Media on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said this on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ programme on Friday.

Shehu was reacting to criticisms targeted at the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), who had in his Independence Day speech, said it made no sense for petrol to cheaper in Nigeria than in Saudi Arabia.

Many had lambasted Buhari for the comparison, insisting that the President ought to have compared the minimum wage in Nigeria with that of Saudi Arabia.

Responding, however, Shehu said, “Is it fair that the taxpayers’ money…how many Nigerians have cars anyway? How many of them run generators in their homes that they need this fuel for?

“Is it fair that the farmer, herders and low-level people in the society that the taxpayer money is taken from them is subsidising the lifestyle of our city urban dwellers? The President is just trying to be as practical on these matters as possible.

“So Saudi Arabia is important in this discussion because what is the technological cost of producing a barrel of oil in Saudi Arabia?

“It’s not more than a quarter of what we spend here and yet you see them charging more than Nigeria. How much comes to Nigeria when you look at our technical cost?”

Google Shows Agbani Darego As ‘Ugliest Miss World'. Nigerians Angry

Quote:Nigerians disappointed as Google Search shows Agbani Darego as ugliest Miss World

In 2001, Nigeria’s Agbani Darego made history as the first black queen to win Miss World in a very captivating fashion.

Fast forward to 2020, the coronavirus year, October precisely, the Independent Month, social media is on a meltdown as Google Search shows Darego as ugliest Miss World (You don’t have to check it too you know?).

Nigerians might be divided within, but nothing unites citizens of the most populous black nation in the world than misrepresenting one of their own. Social media, Twitter, like a fuel-laden fallen taker, exploded over Agbani Darego misjudged as the ugliest Miss World.

Many query questions flooding the timelines and appreciating tweets to drum support for the ever beautiful beauty queen, though some had reservations as to how beautiful Darego was as a Miss World.

But her intelligence, which apparently is one of the criteria, stood her out and that poses a fact, everybody can connect with.

First noticed by a Twitter user with the handle, Growth Queen, she said: “I find it interesting that the results to “Who is the most beautiful Miss World” on Google shows links to various rankings. But “Who is the ugliest Miss world” gives you Agbani Darego’s profile, full stop.”

Williams Chidera, in pure sarcasm, wrote: “I wouldn’t blame google because there’s an algorithm that does this sorting, just as it is when you search for idiot and check images. But the websites that said Agbani Darego is ugly you won’t be unfortunate I can’t lie.”

Mr Ranky queried that “How on earth Will anybody say Priyanka Chopra is more beutiful than Agbani Darego?

do I have issues with my eyes??

Quote:The Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Auchi in Edo State, Dr. Momodu Sanusi Jimah, is dead.

CAMPUS GIST reliably gathered that Jimah passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020.

His death came a day after management of the polytechnic debunked social media rumours that he had passed.

Our correspondent gathered that Jimah, who has been sick with stroke, died at a hospital in the State.

The late Auchi polytechnic rector was married and blessed with children. He was aged 60.

Multiple sources within the institution confirmed to CAMPUS GIST that the remains of the deceased has been brought to Auchi for burial on Saturday, according to Islamic rites.

Until his appointment as the substantive Rector, the late Jimah was in acting capacity as Rector of Auchi Polytechnic.

He was a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Urban & Regional Planning.

Students have since taken to social media to mourn the late Auchi poly rector.

Many received the news with mixed feelings; with some celebrating over alleged increments of tuition fee, which they credited to Jimah.

Also confirming the report, the Institution’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mustapha Oshiobuge, told our correspondent on phone that the rector was no more.

“He (Jimah) passed on this evening (Friday). He was 60-year-old. He will be buried tomorrow (Saturday)”, the school spokesman added.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY 3RD OCTOBER

YOU’RE WORTH HEAVEN’S BEST.

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold…But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot (1 Peter 1:18-19).

Your value to God is revealed in the price He paid for your salvation, which is the precious blood of Jesus Christ. It shows how priceless you really are to God.

Never be deceived by voices that tell you you’re not special or those who treat you like you’re nothing. The fact that you’re worth the blood of Jesus Christ says a lot; it defines your true value. This realization should inspire greater boldness and confidence in your spirit. Nothing is too good for you. You’re worth heaven’s best.

Meditate on this truth! Think, talk and live as God’s treasure of inestimable value. The Bible says He rejoices over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17). That’s because you’re His glory and His righteousness. See yourself the way He sees you, and your faith will be more effective. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

My life is for the glory of God, for I was made for His pleasure. His grace, beauty and excellence are manifested in and through me. I manifest the glory and wisdom of Christ today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

James 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Isaiah 43:7 NKJV Everyone who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him."

1 Peter 2:9 But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

#TALKINGSESSION

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the power of Your Word to build in me excellent virtues and good character!

I declare that my character will always be the true reflection of the life and nature of God that is in me! I thank You for the wonderful benefits of speaking in other tongues and the refreshing and energizing experience I receive from it today!

I declare that my spiritual vocabulary is constantly improved as I spend more time with You in prayer, meditation, and study of Your holy Word.

I thank You for the place of influence, power, and authority that I occupy in Christ, where I reign and rule with Him.

Thank You for Your holy angels that You’ve charged to minister on my behalf! I recognize their presence with me today and commission them to go forth and cause the blessings and benefits of salvation that You’ve ordained for me to experience today to reach me by free course, unhindered, in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

God bless you

Nigerian man bags 40 years in UK jail for double murder

A Nigerian man has been jailed for 40 years in the UK for murdering a mother-of-nine and her nephew in north London in September 2016.

28-year-old Obinna Ezeoke was sentenced on Thursday, October 1, 2020.

Obina Ezeoke was convicted in September 2020 after an unprecedented five trials in four years for shooting dead 53-year-old Annie Ekofo and her 21-year-old nephew, psychology student Bervil Ekofo.at their home in East Finchley.

According to prosecutors, Obinna, said to be a drug dealer, crept into Mrs Ekofo's home just after dawn with intent to kill a target of gang revenge.

On hearing a noise in the house, Bervil, a student and nephew staying with Mrs Ekofo, went to investigate and was shot at close range.

Bervil Efoko

Mrs Ekofo also went to investigate the noise and Obinna pulled the trigger for a second time, a court in the Old Bailey, London, heard.

Mrs Ekofo

The victims were a Congolese family and both of them were not the intended targets of the violence.

Earlier proceedings had established an existing feud between Obinna and Ryan Efey, one of Mrs Ekofo’s sons.

Prosecution’s evidence included a CCTV footage of Obinna’s car to and from the scene, a gun case discovered under his bed, and gunshot residue.

The car was discovered to have been bought and registered by Obinna using a fake name. Obinna claimed the gunshot residue came from a different shooting when others had used the vehicle.

Before yesterday's sentencing, Obinna’s father, Mr Chiedozie Ezeoke had asked the Nigerian government to intervene and save his "innocent" son.

In a message sent to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, and the ministry of justice, Mr. Ezeoke said UK authorities hadn’t given his son a fair trial.

He said: "It is with an absolute sense of trust in our country that I make this appeal to your commission. I am putting up this letter to request your urgent intervention on this matter. My son was tried five times which is unprecedented in English and Wales legal history.

"Justice William Davis allowed for the fifth trial, and differed reasons for that, until the conclusion of the trial, which was strange."

He pointed out that throughout the five trials, his son maintained innocence.

"On the trial, all pieces of evidence against my son are all circumstantial and the police and the prosecution cannot justify British taxpayers’ funds expended without conviction hence they insisted on an unjustifiable conviction," Mr Ezeoke added.

In a statement before the sentencing, Chantelle Mami, Bervil Ekofo's mother, said there were no words to describe how "traumatic" it was to have a child killed.

She said: "We grow to accept that death is a part of life and we should embrace it.

"However, no-one really prepares you for burying your child whose life was taken from them by another.

"I have no more words as my heart is heavy, I just hope that justice continues to be served."

Meanwhile, Osman Jeanefey, the husband of Mrs Ekofo, said: "I think about Annie every day, I can't believe she is gone. Sometimes I feel I will go mad and the image of her dying on the floor is always in my head.

"I hope that our lives will be better and God will give me the strength to stop crying. There is so much sadness in our house now."

Boxes Filled With 5,000 Dead Dogs, Cats, Rabbits Found At Courier Depot In China
User Avatar Forum: News
Posted by: Edoman - 10-03-2020, 12:11 AM - No Replies

Quote:At least 5,000 pets have been found dead in cardboard boxes at a shipping facility in China after being dumped there for nearly a week.

The animals, including rabbits, cats, dogs and guinea pigs, had been held in plastic or metal cages wrapped in boxes at the depot in Luohe, Henan province.

Sister Hua, founder of animal welfare group Utopia, said the entire place "reeked of rotting bodies" when her team arrived to rescue the animals earlier this week.

Hua and her 20 volunteers managed to save 870 rabbits, 99 hamsters, 70 dogs and 28 cats, but thousands had already perished by the time the team arrived at the Dongxing Logistics hub.

"It was like a living hell," she told CBS News. "It was obvious they died of suffocation, dehydration and starvation."

She said the site was "cluttered" with cardboard shipping boxes and the animals had been left without food or water for a week.

An investigation into the horror discovery has been launched by local authorities.

"Miscommunication inside the shipping company and the inconsistency of the implementation of shipping regulations directly led to the tragedy," Hua said.

"Given the Covid-19 pandemic we are facing, it's so terrifying to have those live animals transported that way, and even ending up dead.

"Go for adoption instead of illegal buying and shipping of animals."

Homes have been found for the healthy animals, Utopia said, while volunteers and pet stores are looking after the sick ones.

The group said most of the rabbits are less than a month old, and volunteers have been giving them glucose and vitamins in a bid to keep them alive.

"We're waiting to see if they can make it," a volunteer told the South China Morning Post.

Laws in China ban the shipping of live animals via the postal system and it is understood the pets were dumped at the depot after the logistics company refused to sign off on the illegal shipment.

Yang Aihua, an official from the Luohe's commerce bureau, told The Beijing News the animals had been sent from neighbouring Jiangsu province on September 16.

The shipping company said it was not aware of the tragic incident, but staff confirmed they allowed live animals to be transported in boxes with holes, according to the Global Times newspaper.

Armed robbers attack bank in Ekiti and cart away millions of Naira

A six-man robbery gang attacked a bank in Iyin-Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun local government area of Ekiti state today Friday, October 2, carting away millions of Naira.

According to reports, the robbers who were armed with sophisticated weapons stormed the bank around 3.30pm and blasted the security doors with an explosive device suspected to be dynamite. The robbers reportedly operated for about 40 minutes and carted away several millions of Naira.

An eyewitness said police officers were nowhere to be found while the robbery attack lasted.

Quote:“In fact, the police disappointed us. They disappointed the people of Iyin today. The robbers robbed for over 40 minutes without any challenge.

They came in two vehicles , shot into the air and scared the people around away. In fact, those in the nearby market left their commodities and ran for their lives.

The police station along Igede Ekiti was not up to 500 metres while the police patrol point along Ado Ekiti should be a kilometre away, but none of them responded for over 40 minutes the robbers operated. But we thank God nobody was killed, but the agony of the gunshots was too much on the locals” the eyewitness said

The spokesperson of the state police command, Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident and said efforts are being made to apprehend the suspected robbers.
Quote:“We got a distress call from Iyin Ekiti about the robbery and we immediately dispatched our men and officers to the place. I want to confirm to you that the robbers are being chased as I speak with you and the determination is to effect their arrest.

We are assuring the people that the hoodlums shall be arrested and brought to justice. Ekiti is not a safe haven for robbers and that we shall continue to sustain” Abutu said

SSANU, NASU To Begin 14-Day Nationwide Warning Strike On October 5
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-02-2020, 07:41 PM - No Replies

Quote:The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities(SSANU) and the Non- Academic Staff Union(NASU) have declared a warning strike that will commence next Monday, October 5, and last 14 days across public universities nationwide.

This was just as the federal government announced the reopening of all schools including universities six months after their closure due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The two groups jointly declared the industrial action on Friday on the platform of the Joint Action Committee(JAC).

Addressing newsmen shortly after their joint congress held at the University of Lagos(Akoka), the chairmen of SSANU and NASU of UNILAG branch, Messrs Olusola Sowunmi and Kehinde Ajibade, respectively said the strike is general and involve all public universities in the country.

They said the action is a directive from the national leadership of the two unions to all their branches nationwide.

They said they took the decision to press home their demands on contentious issues from the federal government.

They listed them to non-payment of arrears of their national minimum wage for 10 months, inconsistency in the implementation of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System(IPPIS), non-payment of arrears of their earned allowance since 2012, non-showing of seriousness in renegotiating their 2009 agreement, neglect and poor funding of state universities, corruption and non-constitution of visitation panels as well as a usurpation of headship in non-academic matters by the academic staff as the contentious issues.

They said they are ready to commence on a full-blown and total strike should government fail to address these issues while their warning strike lasted.

APC has performed more than critics - AGF, Abubakar Malami

Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the federation, Abubakar Malami has insisted that the All Progressive Congress-led executive has performed more than its critics.

The AGF said this while hosting members of the Integrity Group of the Non-National Working Committee of the National Executive Committee (Non-NWC NEC) of the ruling party in his of in Abuja.

Malami who pointed out that the Buhari-led administration has been under attack due to challenges occasioned by global economic recession, insecurity, poverty, corruption and lack of infrastructural provisions, averred that members of the governing party should be proud of the administration for the milestone achievements recorded so far.

He said;

Quote:“Our party has not done too badly. We have great and good stories to tell and that can be established factually and not out of mere rethorics.

“When you talk of empowerment we have not done too badly, we have established the fact that we have done unprecedentedly well as far as empowerment and social investments are concerned.

“When in 2018 we had course to recover about $322 million from Switzerland, Mr. President committed himself to supporting those that are less privileged and those that are indigent with the fund. We have in place N-power programme, which indeed constituted the source of support for the unemployed graduates.

“We have in place school feeding program which was targeted at providing meals for the pupils at the primary and perhaps secondary schools level.

“We had trader money and the success of the programme had indeed now snowballed into what we have today related to 774 local government employment scheme and among others.

“So, if you are talking of direct impact of this government in improving the welfare, wellbeing and making provision for the less privileged members of the society, I think the trader money, N-power, the school feeding programme, taking 100 million people out of poverty and in fact even the agricultural policies of the government had indeed proven important tools for employment generation.

“This is a government that inherited a massive unemployment in the polity, a government that inherited actions by which people are deprived of the means of their livelihood.

“In terms of infrastructures, this government has done much as well. This government has completed the projects that were there in the last 16 years ago; that were budgeted for year in year out without any meaningful progress.”

On security, Malami said;

Quote:“If you talk of security, notwithstanding the noise that they make all over the place that we have not succeeded, there is no justification to that allegation made by the opposition.

“This is a government that came at a time when indeed about 17 local governments across the nation were in the hands of the Boko Haram.

“This government has succeeded in reclaiming the territories. Not only reclaiming the territories in question but this is a government that came into place at a time when Boko Haram could travel right from Sambisa down to Kano cause lots of deaths and destruction of properties.”

How my Nigerian ex murdered our son to spite me - American woman opens up

An American woman has claimed that her Nigerian ex murdered their son just to spite her.

Hayley Kelly, an American woman from Wabash Indianapolis, went in search of love on a dating site in 2008. Her search led her to one Miguel Nchama, a Nigerian guy she said was "a sweet guy".

They fell in love, dated for two years and had a son they named Nakota, NigeriaAbroad reports.

The relationship "protected by lies" came to an end a few years later. The relationship began to unravel in 2011 when the police came for Nchama. A certain Judson Mbanuzue, a Nigerian in the United States had filed a report alleging Nchama, who was housed by the Mbanuezue family in 2002, stole his ID, obtained a social security number with it, and piled up loans in his name.

Nchama pleaded guilty to charges of identity theft and social security fraud and was jailed for 34 months.

But investigations into the case uncovered more disturbing secrets. The name "Miguel Nchama" was actually one of five fake names used by the culprit whose real name was Ejike Ibe. Going forward, however, he identified as Anthony Dibiah.

"I felt betrayed," Kelly, the mother of his son, told an American news outlet days ago. "I didn’t trust him anymore."

Kelly said she still loved him all the same.

From jail, he became "controlling" and "was making demands on what I do and when I do it," Kelly noted.

She soon got tired and ended the relationship as he was just getting out of jail.

Upon his release, the culprit, who now identifies as Dibiah, became a subject of an immigration stalemate.

America’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement sought to deport him but Nigeria technically rejected him as the Nigerian embassy refused to provide ICE with deportation documentation, rendering Dibiah "stateless."

Though his jail term ended in 2014, he spent more time in prison as the United States didn’t know what to do with him. They finally let him go free.

Dibiah then obtained a court order for visitation rights to be able to see his son Nakota as it appeared Kelly had made efforts to keep the ex-convict away from the boy.

Nakota, then 7, visited his father on weekends and reportedly said he was "afraid" of going over.

Kelly said her son's father "hit him" and was always "yelling at him". Kelly filed up to five complaints in five years with the Department of Child Services (DCS).

On the other hand, Dibiah told DCS that Kelly wanted more child support, wanted to cut him off and was in fact the problem.

DCS said it found no evidence in both parents’ claims, so the complaints were ignored.

The custodial battle endured for years.

During one weekend visit to his father, Nakota, 10 at the time of his presumed death on July 18, 2020, reportedly called his mother saying: "Oh I’m dead. Don’t expect me to come back. My dad’s going to kill me."

He had offended his father and knowing what his father was capable of, he feared for the worst and made the call.

Kelly said Nakota never liked visiting the father but for the court mandating that.

The last visitation was problematic. Kelly had arrived late at the couple’s meeting point, having earlier taken the boy to a football field where he had regular practice. Dibiah was offended and allegedly threatened not to cooperate with her again.

When Nakota got to his father’s house, he called his mother and expressed love, saying he couldn’t wait to see her, Kelly narrated.

Two hours after that call, Dibiah called an unnamed relative.

"I just killed my son," he told the relative three times before the receiver ended the call and called the police.

The police arrived Dibiah’s house, saw his car outside, noticed movement inside the house, but "didn’t have enough reason" to break in.

Dibiah also called a friend and confessed to killing his son. The friend called the police, who arrived a second time and gained access. Dibiah was already gone by then.

Investigators say they found blood stains, hair, and brain matter in the house. Security camera also captured Dibiah making several trips to the trash, but nothing was found there when police checked.

As all these were unfolding, Kelly got a text message from Dibiah saying: "Sometimes I hear voices. My son is in heaven."

She was frightened, especially as she could not reach Nakota on phone, and reported the text to law enforcement.

She was unaware of the development with the police at Dibiah’s house and was looking to have Nakota back the next day.

Manhunt began and hours later, police found Dibiah in his car, which also had blood stains. Nakota was nowhere to be found.

The culprit is being held without bail in a Florida county jail on murder charges.

Crime journalist Vic Ryckaert, who tried to speak to him, said he declined to comment, but that his lawyer had sworn to put up "a vigorous defence."

Some accounts say Dibiah, 37, confessed to suffocating Nakota with a bag.

Police still have no idea what happened to Nakota’s body.

Kelly says she believes Dibiah killed their son to spite her over custodial squabbles.

She said: "He dumped his body somewhere and won’t let me know. I feel like it’s another way of hurting me."

Los Angeles socialite accused of killing two young boys in crash

Rebecca Grossman, a 57-year-old magazine publisher, has been accused of killing two young boys in a crash.

She was arrested on Tuesday night, September 29, in Westlake Village, California on two counts of vehicular manslaughter after police said she ran over Mark Iskander, 11, and his brother Jacob, 9.

"The children were walking with their family. It is a very tragic situation. The mother and father were able to pull the other two children back in time, and the vehicle struck the two other children," Capt. Salvador Becerra of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said, according to ABC News.

Mark died at the scene of the accident, while Jacob died after being taken to the hospital.

Surveillance video of the collision is said to be in the hands of authorities.

Investigators believe alcohol and street racing may have been involved with the tragedy, per ABC.

According to the sheriff's department, they believe Grossman may have sped off after the collision with one of the brothers still on the hood of her Mercedes for about 100 feet before slamming on the brakes which caused the boy to fall to the ground; Grossman is then believed to have ran over him as she fled the scene.

Police caught up with her about a mile and a half away.

Grossman is married to Dr. Peter Grossman, whose father founded the famed Grossman Burns Center in Westlake. She is also the co-founder and chairwoman of the Grossman Burn Foundation.

On Thursday, October 1, Grossman was released on a $2 million bond and is expected back in court on October 21.

FG Approves Reopening Of Universities, Polytechnics, Unity Schools On October
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion

Quote:Federal Government, on Friday, announced that, barring any last minute change in plans, Federal Government owned tertiary institutions in Nigeria, as well as Federal Government Colleges, otherwise known as Unity Schools, will reopen on October 12th for continuation of academic activities.

Similarly, states and private school owners are expected to work out modalities for the reopening of schools under their purview.
Recall that schools in Nigeria were shut down in March following the outbreak of COVID-19 in Nigeria, and the essence, according to government, was to contain the community transmission of dreaded coronavirus.

Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, who addressed a press conference in Abuja, said the decision to reopen the schools was sequel to review of COVID-19 situation in Nigeria, given the fact that infection figure has been on steady decline.

He said: “We have consulted widely with stakeholders in the sector including the Association of Private Schools (NAPPS), Provosts of Colleges of Education, Rectors of Polytechnics, Vice Chancellors of Universities, State Governors, Commissioners of Education and other development partners on the matter and secured their support and cooperation.”

He, thus asked schools to strictly and rigidly adhere to COVID-19 protocols, threatening that adequate sanctions await any school owner that does not comply with the safety guidelines which may result in outbreak of coronavirus in the school.

He advised schools to be vigilant, strict and rigid in the implementation of COVID-19 protocols for the safety of the children, insisting that nothing should be taken for granted.

Adamu added: “Safe distancing procedures should be regularly practiced. Additionally, schools should develop and display simple context specific reference protocols on day to day actions to be operated in each school.
“Conduct risk assessment with a view to understanding the gaps in the system that could increase the risk of transmission, and make recommendations for addressing the gaps. There should be adequate sensitization and monitoring procedures.”

The Minister strongly encouraged availability of water, sanitation facilities across the schools, and use of open spaces for gathering and promoting outdoor activities.

Appeal Court Overturns Nullification Of Diri’s Election As Bayelsa Governor

Quote:BREAKING: Court of Appeal sets aside majority Judgment which nullifies election of Douye Diri as governor of Bayelsa State.

*ANDP did not prove valid nomination of its candidate to contend unlawful exclusion.

**Case of ANDP was statute barred having failed to file within 14days

SOURCE

Quote:A five-man panel of the Appellate Court has overturned a ruling which nullified the election of Douye Diri as governor of Bayelsa State.

The court held that the Bayelsa Election Petition Tribunal acted outside its jurisdiction by nullifying the election of Governor Diri.

In a unanimous judgment, the five-man panel of the court said the Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party failed woefully to show that it had a valid candidate that was unlawfully excluded by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The court berated the tribunal for ignoring the fact that the petition of ANDP was status barred in addition to the fact that the party presented an unqualified candidate to INEC in the November 16, 2019 Governorship election in Bayelsa State.

Sources said the assault on the 11-year-old may have started on Wednesday afternoon and ended about 6am on Thursday when she reportedly passed away.

The incident was reported at Ejigbo Police Station where sources said five men have been arrested, including the owner of the shack where the body was discovered.

President, International Charitable Initiative for Girl Child and Women Development Foundation (ICI-WODEF), Mrs Helen Ibeji told The Nation that the girl came back from school on Wednesday and was asked by her mother to buy a carton of sausages, the last time the girl was seen alive.   APC Alleges Plot By The ZLP To Militarise Ilaje During The Poll

APC alleges plot by the ZLP to militarise Ondo community during the poll

Quote:The Akeredolu Campaign Organisation in Ondo state says it has uncovered a sinister plot by the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) to militarise Ilaje council area of Ondo State, during the next Saturday’s governorship election.

This evil plan, the campaign organization alleged “is targeted at intimidating the people and discouraging them from coming out to vote, thereby giving the ZLP a conducive atmosphere to rig the election in favor of its unpopular candidate.

This was contained in a statement by the organisation’s spokesperson, Richard Olabode Olatunde in Akure.

Olatunde said “We can authoritatively say that this is part of the grand plans of the ZLP and its candidate, Agboola Ajayi to subvert the will of the people who are determined to return a bloc votes for the APC and its candidate, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) in Ilaje Local Government Area.

“The ZLP is aware that the people of Ilaje are determined to vote massively for the APC, particularly to see that their son, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who is the deputy Governorship candidate of the APC, is voted into power.

“The Akeredolu/ Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation is bringing this to the public, due to its belief that the people must be allowed to exercise their franchise without intimidation or fear on Election Day.

“Again, since prevention of crime remains the best way to enhance security, the appropriate agencies must act now.

“Also, the State Governor and APC Governorship Candidate, Ararakunrin Akeredolu has at different times, reiterated the fact that no election is worth the blood of the citizens. So, this dubious plan by the ZLP should not only be condemned, but prevented from happening.

“While we are calling on the security agencies to intervene and save Ondo State from electoral violence and deliberate intimidation, we want to urge our supporters across the state, particularly the people of Ilaje to remain calm, but say no to intimidation and evil plans by the ZLP and their cohorts.

He said “we trust that the security agencies, particularly the Military will be above board and discharge as an unbiased actor in the election.

In its reaction to the allegation, the ZLP Publicity Secretary, Felix Olatunde said

“The allegation of planned militarisation of the Southern part of Ondo State as irresponsibly made by the Akeredolu campaign team against our party is purely inconsistent with reality, false and totally deceptive.

“The Zenith Labour Party has no connection with individuals and or people that could be used to militarise the coastal areas of the state or elsewhere as alleged.

“We have heard of the plans of the APC to import thugs from Kogi and elsewhere. We have heard his people boast of moving anti-terrorism teams to Ondo State to harass youths and adults intent on voting him out.

“The whole world heard when an APC chieftain openly said he was a militant and that his party is ready to bring all sorts of guns for electoral processes.

“The whole world saw how Aketi’s thugs openly intimidated the people of Oba Akoko by shooting sporadically into the air even while in the convoy of the outgoing governor.

“We have heard of many instances of brigandage, burning of opposition party’s vehicles and harassment of opposition party leaders by known Akeredolu thugs,” he added.

“The hypocrisy of Akeredolu in alleging militarisation should not only be noted but be seen as an attempt to divert attention from his innermost intention.

“Akeredolu and the APC in words and action have been the most abusive, most belligerent and most violent that any hypocritical cry of militarisation from him and his party in Ondo State has no meaning in the ears of Ondo State people.

Olatunde said that the governor “has been very violent till now and will not stop being violent out of desperation unless the agencies of State prepare to halt his satanic plans to militarise our State.”

Each House of Reps member earns N9.3m monthly — Hon. Simon Karu claims

A member of the House of Representatives, Simon Karu, has claimed that each member of the House earns N9.3 million monthly.

The lawmaker, who represents Kaltungo/Shongom federal constituency of Gombe State, stated this on Thursday, October 1, in Abuja at an event to mark Nigeria’s 60th Independence anniversary.

The event was tagged “FixingNigeria at 60- Sustainable and efficient democracy: Issues on accountability and transparency in governance”.

The lawmaker, who was among the guest speakers, said the sum includes monthly salaries and the office’s running cost. He, however, said most of the monthly funds were spent on constituents’ high demands.

“The official salary of a member, House of Representatives which I also receive monthly is N800,0000. I told you I was going to say it, why don’t you wait for me to say it? The office running cost of a member of the House of Representatives is N8.5 million,” he said.

“Those of you who know, know that I said exactly what it is. The problem is what the constituents demand and when you don’t meet (up), they begin to call you names.

“Just before I walked to the stage, I received three emails from my constituents demanding for money and demanding for jobs, when you don’t, it becomes an issue.”

Another member of the House at the event, Nicholas Ossai debunked Mr Karu’s revelation, urging the audience to disregard same.

“I have never received such salary since I came to the National Assembly and I have been in the National Assembly before him,” Mr Ossai said.

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has declared that Nigeria is already no more.

According to Kanu, the country ended when it was allegedly restructured to the advantage of one part.
Nigeria is celebrating her 60th Independence Day today, October 1, 2020.

And in a tweet, the UK-based secessionist leader, said, “Nigeria ENDED when it was unilaterally restructured to the oppressive advantage of one part of the many parts that founded Nigeria.”

He called on those from the areas he described as the disadvantaged parts to join the ongoing sit-at-home in some parts of the country.

“If you’re from the parts that got disadvantaged, #SitAtHomeOnOct1st to tell them that you no longer wish to be a slave to #Fulani irredentism. “

Man films himself accidentally jumping to his death after mistakenly leaving boat in gear

A New Jersey man filmed himself accidentally jumping to his death in Lake Tahoe.

Ryan Normoyle was making a video of himself diving off his rental boat, but didn't realize he had left it slightly in gear.

The camera shows the boat slowly chugging away and leaving the 29-year-old behind to drown in the rough water as he couldn't catch up with the boat.

"The cellphone video basically shows him jumping off the boat," South Lake Tahoe Police Department's Lt. Travis Cabral told CBS13. "It looks like he was playing around playing in the water didn't know the boat was in gear and he wasn't able to make it back to the boat."

Police launched the investigation after the empty boat ran ashore in Glenbrook, Nevada. Aboard they found his phone with the eerie footage; using the GPS data they were able to piece together his final moments.

His body was only found last week after more than a month of searching.

It was finally discovered under 1,500 ft of water — the deepest recovery ever recorded in the North American continent.

Kukah: Buhari Making It Difficult For Nigerians To Celebrate Diversity
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-02-2020, 09:24 AM - No Replies

Quote:The cleric spoke at The Platform, an annual conference organised by Covenant Christian Centre in Lagos, on Thursday.

The virtual event hosted by Poju Oyemade, its convener, was to commemorate the nation’s 60th independence anniversary.

Kukah faulted the current composition of the Nigerian leadership with Muslims occupying leading positions across various political institutions.

He said the current arrangement where the president, those in charge of affairs at the senate and house of representatives, as well as the chief justice are from the same religion, hinders celebration of diversity and betrays the principle of federal character.

“I think even the most optimistic Nigerian must conceive that we are nowhere near coming to define the real sense of democracy. Beyond just going through the process of cycles of election, we have a very serious problem with recruitment methods,” he said.

“Reflecting federal character should be like viewing ourselves in the mirror and celebrating our diversity because the table is big enough to occupy everyone.

“But when you don’t have that and you put all your apples in one basket, naturally you cannot make headway, because you’re violating the constitution and thinking that we are in a democracy.

“This president (Buhari) in my view in the last few years has made it very difficult for us to celebrate diversity. And Nigerians will concede that a reward system that is so skewed, whether in favour of men, women, Christians or Muslims is unacceptable because when it was time to vote, all of us came out to vote.

“We need to very quickly reset the template if we are to take our place after 60 years of independence. If we are unable to provide our people with water, food, light, security, then it is a tough call. I am not a happy Nigerian but I remain a hopeful Nigerian.”

We Are Free To Pursue Legal Option – Ize-Iyamu
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-02-2020, 09:05 AM - No Replies

Quote:The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the September 19 governorship election in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has said he and his party are at liberty to pursue any legal option they deem fit as long as the peace of the state is not threatened.

In an Independence Day message signed by Ize-Iyamu, he said his party was collating facts and would soon speak authoritatively in the best tradition of rule of law, fairness to all and due process.

He said, “We will brief you all in good time and that time is near. But then, the question is after September 19, what next? We owe you an explanation on the way forward. Indeed, not a few have been bombarding us with this question. Well, we have kept quiet so far, not because we are bad losers, as some unfairly presume. It’s rather because, no matter the situation, we are staunch soldiers of the rule of law and due process.

“Suffice it to say that with due sensitivity to the feelings of our people, we are busy collating our facts. Only after can we speak and speak authoritatively in the best tradition of rule of law, fairness to all and due process. We will brief you all in good time and that time is near.

In the course of our methodical approach, not a few deem to have pre-empted our course of action and pleaded that we do not proceed to the courts to challenge the election result. While that cannot be dismissed as an entirely bad plea, what I can say is that whatever action we subsequently take will be rooted in due process and the rule of law. We will exercise every right available to us under the law, given the electoral facts at our disposal.

Even as we speak, our people should know that the PDP and their agents and privies have instituted 13 lawsuits against my running mate and I. None of them have they discontinued after the election. So, if the PDP don’t pass up their rights under the law, why should we in the APC do so?

Daily Devotional for Friday 2nd October

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

FRIDAY 2ND OCTOBER.

YOUR RESPONSE ACTIVATES THE POWER.

…for he hath said…So that we may boldly say… (Hebrews 13:5-6).

In Christianity, you believe and speak: “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak” (2 Corinthians 4:13).

You don’t receive the Word to be quiet. If you don’t respond, the Word will do you no good.
Responding to the Word means more than “reciting” what God has said; you have to say something that’s consistent with what He has said.

For example, He has said His divine power has granted you all things that pertain to life and godliness. Your response should be, “There’s no lack or want in my life, because all things are mine! I prosper everywhere and in all things to the glory of God!"

Your confession of the Word is your response to the Word; this is what will change your life and circumstances. Every time God speaks, anything He says is loaded with power. His words are never empty. So, what has God said to you? What have you discovered about you in the Word? Respond to the Word.

Even now, speak words that are consistent with God’s divine provisions, plans and purposes in Christ. Affirm that you’re making progress and manifesting the glory of Christ everywhere. Declare that good things are happening for you, through you and around you, because you’re the seed of Abraham. Activate the power of the Word in your life.

CONFESSION

My words are infused with divine energy, creating new and glorious realities, transforming circumstances, and changing situations to conform to God’s provisions, plans, and purposes in Christ. Thank you Lord for the reality of your ever-dependable Word in my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Philemon 1:6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

[url=https://t.me/dailyaffirmations]I affirm that my hands are filled with the blessings of the Lord. Anyone I touch surely must be blessed; anything I do will be magnified.

I am in God’s place for my life and the Spirit of God has granted me understanding and insight into His will, purpose, and plans as I study the Word.

My heart is flooded with wisdom and spiritual understanding; I live a life of peace and unlimited prosperity in Christ Jesus.

The peace of God that transcends human understanding fills my heart today, and I prosper exceedingly in all things. I am not of this world; I am from the government of heaven.

I am seated with Christ in the place of authority, over and above every government, authority, power, lordship and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

I am over and above all circumstances of life. I am greatly favoured! God’s favour surrounds me like a shield. It opens doors for me, bringing me into my place of greatness.

I walk with confidence today and always, knowing that with favour working in me, nothing is too good for me! I am a victor in this life. All things are possible unto me because the ability of God is at work in me.

I refuse to recognize limitations, or hindrances to my journey of success, victory, and prosperity. I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. Christ is my wisdom therefore I am wise, I have the wisdom to do whatever I need to do.

I function today at my best potentials because the wisdom of God works in me, talking through me, leading me, guiding me and causing me to be effective and productive in everything I lay my hands to do. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

PDP, Governors Tackle Buhari Over Attack On Obasanjo, Jonathan, Yar’Adua
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-02-2020, 07:22 AM - No Replies

Quote:The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari ( retd. ), on Thursday justified the recent increase in the price of petrol in the country, saying it made no sense for the commodity to be cheaper in Nigeria than in Saudi Arabia.

Buhari , who said this in his nationwide broadcast to mark the nation’ s 60th independence anniversary , gave an indication of further hikes in the price of petrol and blamed his predecessors between 1999 and 2015 for near destruction of the country .

But opposition People Democratic Party and the PDP governors said Nigeria was not only going backwards , but also more divided under Buhari .

The President, in his speech , defended the recent petrol price hike. He said , “ A responsible government must face realities and take tough decisions .

“ Petroleum prices in Nigeria are to be adjusted . We sell now at N 161 per litre. A comparison with our neighbours will illustrate the point.

“ Chad which is an oil producing country charges N 362 per litre. Niger, also an oil producing country sells one litre at N 346. In Ghana, another oil producing country, petroleum pump price is N326 per litre. Further afield , Egypt charges N 211 per litre. Saudi Arabia charges N168 per litre. It makes no sense for oil to be cheaper in Nigeria than in Saudi Arabia .”

He specifically blamed those who were in charge of the country between 1999 and 2015 when he took over , saying they presided over the near destruction of the country.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo , the late Umar Yar’ Adua and former President Goodluck Jonathan were in charge of the country during the period Buhari mentioned.

The President said , “ No government in the past did what we are doing with such scarce resources. We have managed to keep things going in spite of the disproportionate spending on security .

“ Those in the previous governments from 1999 to 2015 , who presided over the near destruction of the country have now the impudence to attempt to criticise our efforts. In the circumstances , a responsible government must face realities and take tough decisions . ”

Buhari also admitted that the nation ’s economy under his watch was in crisis. He, however, claimed the situation was the same with every economy of the world .
The President also admitted the various security challenges affecting parts of the country.

He said , “ Today , I am aware that our economy along with every single economy in the world is in crisis.

“ We still face security challenges in parts of the country, while our society suffers from a high loss of moral rectitude which is driven by unbridled craving for political control .

Lamenting that Nigerians dwelt on divisive issues , Buhari said , “ An underlying cause of most of the problems we have faced as a nation is our consistent harping on artificially contrived fault lines that we have harboured and allowed unnecessarily to fester.
“ In addition, institutions such as civil service, police , the judiciary, the military all suffered from a general decline.”

The President said the outcome of the recent governorship election in Edo State confirmed his belief in credible polls .

He said , “ I am a firm believer in transparent, free , fair and credible elections as has been demonstrated during my period as a democratically elected President.

“ The recent build -up and eventual outcome of the Edo State election should encourage Nigerians that it is my commitment to bequeath to this country processes and procedures that would guarantee that the people ’s votes count.

“ The problems with our electoral process are mainly human induced as desperate desire for power leads to desperate attempts to gain power and office .

“ Democracy , the world over and as I am pursuing in Nigeria, recognises the power of the people . However , if some constituencies choose to bargain off their power , they should be prepared for denial of their rights .”
The President noted that Nigeria grappled with multiple challenges with a population exceeding 200 million occupying the same land mass but 52 percent residing in urban areas.

According to him , 60 years of nationhood provides an opportunity to ask questions on the extent to which Nigerians have sustained the aspirations of the country’ s founding fathers .

He said Nigerians needed to begin a sincere process of national healing, saying the 60th independence anniversary presented a genuine opportunity “ to eliminate old and outworn perceptions that are always put to test in the lie they always are. ”

Emphasising the need for Nigerians to unite, Buhari said , “ I am convinced that if we pursue our aspirations together, we will be able to achieve whatever we desire . That informed our adopting the theme together to mark this epochal event.

“ Together , we can change our condition for the better and more importantly , together we can do much more for ourselves and for our country .

“ Nigeria is not a country for Mr President, any ruling or the opposition party but a country for all of us and we must play our part, irrespective of challenges we face , to make this country what we desire . ”

He said his regime was grappling with the dual challenge of saving lives and livelihoods in face of drastically reduced resources.

But the PDP spokesman , Kola Ologbondiyan, in an interview with The PUNCH on Thursday evening, berated Buhari over his comments on Obasanjo , Yar ’Adua and Jonathan .

He said , “ It is unfortunate that our President can turn around today to attempt to rewrite history . Nigerians are aware and the facts are there that this country of ours was not as divided as it is today. If he disputes this fact , let him tell Nigerians how he won the 2015 elections . It is a fact that the Boko - Haram terrorists were driven out of their strongholds and elections were held in the 774 local government areas of Nigeria and results were declared .

“ It is also an undisputed fact that the agitations by component units of this nation for self - determination have not been as loud as they are today under General Buhari ; you have people from the Sout- West calling for Oduduwaa Republic , the South- East for Biafra , the Middle Belt and so on.

The reason is simple , this regime from its conduct and utterances has given an impression of ‘ we versus them.’ The level of nepotism is legendary . The corruption is beyond imagination , yet the regime carries on like nothing is wrong . We appeal to this regime especially the President to change his ways so that history can be kind to him .”

Also, the PDP spokesman , in a statement titled “ Buhari’ s Independence Day Speech , A Slap on Nigerians - PDP … Exposes Illogicalities In President’ s Fuel Price Comparisons, ” faulted the President’ s speech .

He stated , “ President Buhari’ s attempt to justify the increase of fuel price in Nigeria by comparing it to the N 168 per litre cost in Saudi Arabia is a morbid joke, noting that the minimum wage in Saudi Arabia is N 305, 113 ( 3000 Saudi Riyals) , ten times higher than our paltry N 30,000 , which is largely unimplemented in Nigeria.

“ Is Mr President not aware that , on the average, a person working in Saudi Arabia earns around 4,230 SAR ( N430 , 267) to 16, 700 SAR ( N1 ,698, 693) per month?
“ Our party charges Mr President to always check his books before making such offensive comparisons including the price in Egypt where monthly average earnings are around N 222, 841 ( 9, 200 EGP ) against our N 30,000 .

“ In comparing our costs with other countries such as Ghana, Chad and Niger where purchasing powers of citizens are much more higher, did Mr President reflect on costs of house rent, education , healthcare and average dependence on fuel for daily survival by ordinary citizens as obtainable in Nigeria?”

Buhari’ s actions divisive, President leading Nigeria to extreme decay , say PDP govs
The PDP Governors’ Forum led by the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, said Buhari ’s actions had divided Nigeria.

The forum, in a statement on Thursday titled, ‘ Reflection on Nigeria @ 60: The past, present and way forward… We need a national dialogue ,’ issued by Tambuwal, said Buhari supervised the nation’ s slide into extreme decay within just five years in power.

It said in spite of enviable strides recorded since independence 60 years ago, the nation appeared to be on reverse gear with the state of affairs in the country .

The PDP governors ’ forum said , “ In the last five years, under the APC -controlled administration , Nigeria has continued on the downward slide into extreme decay , with the country displacing India as the poverty capital of the world , with an estimated 87 million Nigerians living on less than $ 1.9 US a day (Brooking Institute 2018 ) .

“ We as leaders must strive harder to make sure that poverty is minimised in all parts of the country . This is even made worse by the fact that in 2019 , Nigeria ranked 93rd out of 117 qualifying countries with a score of 27. 9 below Guinea and Mali in the Global Hunger index .

“ It is also regrettable to note that the Buhari - led APC administration has plunged Nigeria deeper into the debt trap after the country had exited from its initial debt burden from the London and Paris Clubs under the PDP - led administration .

“ It is indeed sad to observe that Nigeria’s external debt hit a 16 year high of $27 billion in December 2019, just higher than the $20 .8bn in external level as at 2005 when Nigeria exited from the club of its foreign creditors. ”

Female Pastor Dumps Church, Becomes A Stripper In US (Photos)

Quote:Pastor quits church to become a stripper and now sells x-rated pics and videos online

A pastor has given up the church to become a stripper and has amassed thousands of fans who pay to see her x-rated photos and videos.

Mum-of-three Nikole Mitchell said she always wanted to become an erotic dancer but she was brought up in a strict Christian family which put a damper on her dreams.

She has now come out as bisexual and carved a new career as a stripper, model and erotic dancer.

Nikole regularly post semi-clad images on her Instagram page to her 42,000 followers and runs a successful OnlyFans account where people pay to see explicit photos and videos of her.

She said: “I started off really timid like just topless photos, but now I’m at the point where I take personal requests and make videos very tailored to people’s specific desires."

The 36-year-old said she always longed to be a stripper but she grew up in a strict Baptist family so was "indoctrinated to believe her desires and body were innately sinful and bad".

Nikole got married and became a pastor - which she said was a move seen as rebellious in her family’s eyes as a "woman's place was in the kitchen and looking after her children."

But when Nikole, and her now ex-husband, joined an evangelist megachurch in St. Paul, Minnesota, she had an epiphany which led to her life-changing decision.

The church raised the possibility of gender equality within the faith.

Nikole then began to question her sexuality in 2016 after she went to a LGBT-oriented theatre performance and she realised she was bisexual and pansexual.

“I knew if I revealed my queerness I would lose it all because the church is not welcoming to queer people." she said.

Not wanting to live a duplicitous life Nikole left the church for good and 'came out' in a confessional YouTube video posted on her social media platforms.

Nikole, who has now relocated to Los Angeles and divorced her husband, says she is "happier than ever".

She added: "Every person has the right to express themselves in whatever way feels good to them and this is how it feels good to me.

"My sexuality is incredibly healing and sacred. And when I give this gift to people, it blesses them."

A’Ibom Govt Partners Trinidad & Tobago On Aviation, Tourism, ORS

Thursday, October 1st, 2020 | News

Quote:The Akwa Ibom State Government has indicated readiness to collaborate with the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in the development of aviation, tourism, agriculture and industrial estate to boost its economy.

This was the hallmark of billateral discussions between the Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State and the High Commissioner of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to Nigeria, Mr. Wendell Vincent Carlton De Landro, during a courtesy call on the Governor at Government House, Uyo.

Governor Emmanuel who appreciated the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’s interest in the state’s budding aviation industry and other areas of economic ventures, pointed out that his administration has repositioned the state for such collaborations in view of the recorded strides in industrialization and other gateways of development.

He disclosed that his administration is working out modalities with multinational companies towards kick-starting the state industrial park, especially with the planned commencement of a Seaport and International flights operations.

“We are working on a lot of things that will involve a lot of countries. It will be a very good synergy.

“We are thinking of establishing about thirty to thirty-five industries in a cluster but the post COVID-19 challenges may posed a problem, even at that we may have about fifteen industries depending on the outcome of our next meetings.

“I’m going to start by January. We’ve cleared the site, we’ve made provision for 24 hours electricity and water is not a problem”, the Governor explained.

Governor Emmanuel told the visiting envoy that the state is on the verge of hosting the smartest airport terminal building in the continent, adding that the state airline, Ibom Air will commence international flights for passengers and cargo early 2022.

“We are going to have the smartest airport terminal building in the whole of Africa and that is under construction. We are going to commission the terminal building by December next year and once we commission it, we are going to start full international flights of Ibom Air by the first quarter of 2022”, he assured.

Earlier, the High Commissioner, Mr. Wendell De Landro, commended the state vision of floating and sustaining the Ibom Air, emphasising that his home government has interest to collaborate with the state in the area of direct flights operations between Nigeria and his country through the state-owned airline and to further discussions for establishing an industrial estate in Akwa Ibom.

De Landro spoke of Trinidad and Tobago as a small twin island in the Caribbean with a lot of people engaging in various professions, observing that the state was fast transforming into an industrial hub, with rich agricultural resources that forms the state’s staple food.

The Diplomat expressed intention of his home government to use the state aviation channel to establish a trade line between Akwa Ibom and Nigeria.

Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of Souvenir by Governor Udom Emmanuel to the visiting envoy; Mr Wendell De Landro.

The Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC), Pastor Tunde Bakare, has warned the President Muhammadu Buhari administration not to kill Nigerians.

Bakare, speaking on The Platform, a special programme to commemorate Nigeria’s Independence Day anniversary, on Thursday asked the federal government to get rid of corruption instead.

Buhari, during his 60th Independence Day speech, intimated that fuel will soon sell for N161 per litre.

According to him, fuel subsidies were being paid into private pockets.

“Don’t kill Nigerians, kill corruption. Because we knew that the subsidy being paid is going into private pockets,” the cleric said.

Bakare also recalled that when he joined Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka; Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana; among others to protest during Goodluck Jonathan’s government in 2012, the protest was not against subsidy.

“I campaigned against the oppression of the poor,” Bakare said, adding that the subsidy by the government was not used to advance the cause of the poor.

TUC: Comparing Nigeria With Saudi Arabia Ridiculous
User Avatar Forum: General Discussion
Posted by: Edoman - 10-02-2020, 06:47 AM - No Replies

Quote:The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria has condemned the comparison between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia made by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in his Independence Day address.

The President, TUC, Quadri Olaleye, in a statement on Thursday, said the comparison was unnecessary as Nigeria was not at par in all ramifications with Saudi Arabia and other countries mentioned.

He said the country had achieved nothing despite six decades of oil exploration, adding that the government was paying lip service to infrastructure development.

He said successive governments had looted, laundered and wasted the country’s resources while patronising hospitals outside the country.

Olaleye said, “It is like comparing black and white. It is that bad!

“It is ridiculous to compare Nigeria with Saudi, Dubai, or any other country, not even in Africa. With the natural resources that we have, we could rule the world, but government is not interested. There is no need for this comparison because it looks like the president is defending fraud and the impoverishment of Nigerians.

“Come to think of it, what has Nigeria achieved with all the money made from oil since over six decades of oil exploration in commercial quality? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. All successive leaderships have done is loot, launder and buy properties in foreign land.

“So, if the president is defending the hike (in pump price), what does he want to do with the surplus they will make from the hike? The same old story of providing infrastructure! Our roads are nothing but death traps. Our leaders are not patriotic at all.”

He argued that in Saudi Arabia, roads, water, and to some extent, jobs were not big issues.

“On the other hand, Nigerians contend with estimated bills because power firms had refused to provide meters,” Olaleye added.

Former Ugandan university lecturer sentenced for sexually molesting female student

A former Makerere University Senior Administrative Assistant has been sentenced to a fine of Shs4m or two years in prison for sexually molesting a former student, Rachael Njoroge.

Edward Kisuze, a registrar in the College of Computing and Information Science, was convicted on the count of indecent assault by the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate, Miriam Akello on Wednesday, September 30.

The chief magistrate said there was overwhelming evidence from the prosecution that proved the case of indecent assault against Kisuze.

“The judgement based on evidence adduced by prosecution. All ingredients of indecent assault were proved beyond reasonable doubt by the prosecution witnesses. The accused is hereby sentenced to a fine of Shs4m or in default serve two years in jail,” Ms Akello said.

However, the magistrate acquitted Kisuze of attempted rape.

Kisuze’s troubles started in 2018 after a photo circulated on social media where he was seen assaulting Ms Njoroge, a former student at the faculty.

In her testimony in court, Ms Njoroge narrated that the encounter with the former registrar occurred when she had gone to pick her transcript after graduation. She narrated that Kisuze locked her up in his office and started assaulting her.

Prosecution contended that the unethical incident happened at Makerere University on April 13, 2018 when Ms Njoroge showed up to certify her transcript and pick her recommendation letter. She was referred to the registrar’s room for help.

Later that evening, she was given the transcript but as she was trying to look through, Kisuze rushed and locked the office door before molesting her.

In his defence, Kisuze told court that Ms Njoroge, upon entering his office, started lamenting how she had been mistreated by the university. He said she actually told him she was feeling dizzy and that she had not eaten anything since morning.

Kisuze claimed as Ms Njoroge tried to stand, she broke down in his office and he thought she was suffering from epilepsy.

“I was stuck; I did not know what to do but I managed to find some drinking water for her. After a few minutes, she started gaining consciousness and she asked what I was doing with her. While wailing, she picked her phone from the bag,” he said.

Kisuze denied being the person in the photos that Ms Njoroge took and were at the time circulating on social media. He said Ms Njoroge was framing him to destroy his 20-year career and ruin his marriage.

Notorious criminal terrorizing Yenagoa communities nabbed after snatching phone

Men of the Bayelsa State Vigilante Security Outfit have arrested a 27-year-old suspected serial thief and burglar, Godbless Philip for alleged phone snatching and other criminal activities.

The suspect was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday, September 30, along Otiotio off yenezue-gene, Yenagoa, after intelligence information gathering from members of the public.

It was gathered that the suspect, an indigene of Ayama in Ogbia local government area, specialises on mobile phone theft, room burgling and other crimes and has been terrorizing innocent citizens who come out early to go about daily business along the kpansia-yenezuegene area of the state capital.

The Chairman of the Bayelsa State Vigilante Service, Hon. Doubiye Alagba, who confirmed the arrest, said that there has been series of report from residents within that area on the suspect and his gangs snatches valuables from innocent citizens within that area almost on a daily basis. This prompted the state vigilante service to set a flashpoint in the area and through the help of members of the public he was apprehended.

According to him, the state vigilante has intensified new efforts in tackling these pocket crimes etc through public intelligence gathering. He therefore used the medium to urge Bayelsans not to relent in calling and giving outfit information that will help tackle these crimes and more.

Alagba, stated that part of the challenges the security agencies are having in the state is lack of information from members of the public and this has hindered the operation of his security outfit mosttime.

The suspect was handed over to the state anti-cultism unit of the Nigerian Police Force for further investigation.

Girl, 3, dies from heart attack after ingesting her dad’s cocaine

A 3-year-old girl has died from a heart attack after ingesting cocaine brought into her home by her drug-dealer dad, a judge has ruled.

The child, named in court only as K, was admitted to hospital with suspected sepsis or meningitis, but collapsed and died on April 6, 2019. A post-mortem then revealed she had cocaine in her blood.

Her parents blamed each other for bringing drugs into the property, with the dad claiming her mum had left cocaine in a bedroom drawer. Their other four children were removed from the household.

High Court judge Mr Justice Williams has now ruled that K’s dad "carelessly" brought the cocaine into the house, "in connection with his drug-related activities".

He said it was probable the drug-dealer had "brought the cocaine onto the premises" and "processed it in some way in an area which the children would have access to".

Exactly how K came to ingest the cocaine remains unclear, the judge said. He also blamed the mother for being "well aware" of the dad bringing drugs into the property, as she was also using them herself.

He went on: "It seems most probable that she turned a blind eye or persuaded herself that sufficient precautions were being taken to protect the children. This was to kid herself."

The judge described K as a "playful, cheeky and loving little girl with all of her life to live" and said he hoped the parents would learn from her death,

The girl had been living in London at the time of her death, and six arrests were made in connection with the case last year, a spokesperson for the Met Police said. All were released under investigation, but an investigation led by specialist crime command is still ongoing.

Before and after photos of 23-year-old man who transitioned to female after undergoing surgeries and injecting hormones and reshaping male organ

Vietnamese model and cosmetic tattoo artist, Khanh An was born a boy named Nguyen Duy Quang, before transitioning to female after undergoing surgeries and injecting hormones.

According to An, she has injected hormones since age 17 and had two surgeries despite her family's opposition. As a child, she faced a lot of discrimination since her hobbies differed from those of boys.

In an interview with local media, An said she liked wearing dresses, playing with dolls, and messing around with makeup. Attending school, she used a wig to cover her long hair, only shown off to friends at home.

When An was 18, she attended a beauty contest during which she was named first runner-up, though it did little to reduce the prejudice that surrounded her.

"I was told transitioning from male to female would impact my longevity, though there was no research to back these claims," An said, adding she would rather be herself instead of "living in a male body for the rest of my life."

At 17, she started injecting hormones ordered from Thailand. After saving up, she decided to book her first surgery in Thailand during early 2016.

One year later, she returned to Thailand for a follow up, reshaping her male genitals in the process.

"It was a difficult and dangerous operation," An recalled, adding many patients had suffered hemorrhages during these surgeries.

For a year after the life-changing operation, An used various-sized dilators to help stretch and lengthen vaginal tissue and ease scarring. It was a dangerous process, she said.

Later, An underwent a nose job and got a botox injection to add femininity to her face.
In early 2018, she eventually had the self-confidence to show off her new look, naming herself Khanh An in the hope to enjoy a peaceful life ("An" means peaceful).

"I told myself I cannot reject my past, but I hide it to live a better life in the body of a woman," she explained.

An said she now feels happy with her new life.

"Life is not that long, I do not want to waste any moment" she added.

The journalist was physically assaulted by a policeman while covering a protest on Thursday by members of the #RevolutionNow Movement in the Maryland area of the city.

Odumosu while condemning the attack on the journalist said that the policeman, who carried out the attack would be punished.

He said, “The one that was beaten was out of professional misconduct of that officer. Even if he is a protester, he has his rights, not to talk of a journalist doing his lawful duty.

“He is a Nigerian and has the right to do that and even if he has done anything against the law, is that the procedure of the police? Is that the professional way of arresting somebody and making them face the law? No.

“That is not the procedure in law and it is completely unprofessional and action will be taken against that this evening. So, once again I sincerely apologise for that.”

The protesters – many of whom were arrested by the police – are demanding for better governance from the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari's 60th Independence Day Speech, A Slap On Nigerians – PDP

…Faults fuel price comparisons

Quote:By Dirisu Yakubu

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Thursday, described President Muhammadu Buhari’s independence anniversary speech as a slap on the sensibilities of Nigerians, particularly his justification of his administration’s increment of the pump price of the Premium Motor Spirit, also known as fuel.

President Buhari had in his broadcast pointed out a number of oil producing countries including Saudi Arabia, Ghana, Egypt and Niger Republic where the price of fuel is higher than in Nigeria, and concluded by saying that “sustaining the level of petroleum prices is no longer possible.”

In its reaction, the PDP, in a statement signed by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan called on President Buhari to “wake up to reality and take demonstrable urgent steps that will address the divisive tendencies and poor economic policies of his administration, which are fast decimating our dear nation under his watch.”

According to the party, “President Buhari’s attempt to justify the increase of fuel price in Nigeria by comparing it to the N168 per litre cost in Saudi Arabia is a morbid joke,” adding that “the minimum wage in Saudi Arabia is N305,113 (3000 Saudi Riyals), ten times higher than our paltry N30,000 which is largely unimplemented in Nigeria.”

The statement further read: “Is Mr. President not aware that, on the average, a person working in Saudi Arabia earns around 4,230SAR (N430, 267) to 16,700 SAR (N1, 698,693) per month?

“Our party charges Mr. President to always check his books before making such offensive comparisons including the price in Egypt where monthly average earning is around N222, 841 (9,200 EGP) against our N30,000.

“In comparing our costs with other countries such as Ghana, Chad and Niger where purchasing powers of citizens are much more higher, did Mr. President reflect on the cost of house rent, education, healthcare and average dependence on fuel for daily survival by ordinary citizens as obtainable in Nigeria?

“If the flawed assertions as evident in Mr. President’s speech are a direct reflection of how policies are formulated in his administration, then one needs not wonder why our economy is in doldrums.

“Indeed, it is imperative to state that if the Buhari administration had summoned the competence and honesty to continue the programs already laid by previous administrations under our party to revive our refineries and provide infrastructural backbone for our productive sector, fuel price will not be more than N100 per litre, in addition to the gains from by-product from crude oil.

“The PDP therefore urges Mr. President to engender harmony and productivity by allowing for more robust discourse that will lead to affordable prices for fuel and other essential commodities in our country.”

The major opposition party in the country also flayed the togetherness theme of the President’s speech, describing the allusion as a mere rhetoric.

“Our party also holds as ludicrous that President Buhari is hyping his ‘better together’ theme when the administration he heads, runs on nepotism, disregard for rule of law, human right abuses, corruption, political intolerance, suppression of free speech and aggression towards dissenting voices.

“We urge Mr. President to end his rhetoric and take practical steps to entrench the culture of rule of law and strengthen harmonious living through inclusiveness, equity in wealth distribution and equal access to opportunities for all Nigerians irrespective of creed, class, and ethnicity.

“Furthermore, credible elections are essential to harmonious living. Our party therefore restates our commendation to Mr. President for his new found commitment to non-interference in elections leading to conduct of free, fair and credible governorship election in Edo State on September 19.

“We urge President Buhari to toe the line of the Edo election in the October 10 Ondo governorship election so as to consolidate the legacy of free and fair election under his watch.

“Additionally, Mr. President should exert himself on rebuilding our economy by ending his borrowing spree and focusing on our productive capacity instead of his endless lamentation over his failures.

“Moreover, security is pivotal to our economic revival. The unceasing acts of insurgency, banditry and kidnapping in the last five years have wrecked our nation’s productivity and threatened her corporate existence.

“It is therefore worrisome that Mr. President’s speech did not address the call on him by Nigerians demanding that he rejigs his security architecture to inject new blood that will effectively confront our security challenges.

“Our party restates our belief in the potentials of our nation and urges Mr. President to seek help by engaging more competent hands to assist in handling the affairs of our nation,” it further noted.

DSS Director-General, Bichi, Conducts Secret, Uneven Recruitment Into Agency With North Getting 535 Slots, South 93

Official documents and contributions of senior intelligence officials showed that the North had a massive share of the roughly 1,300 Nigerians currently undergoing cadet training at two different camps of the secret police in Lagos and Bauchi.

Yusuf Bichi, Director-General of the Department of State Services, has activated a lopsided hiring process that could overfill the security agency with personnel from the Northern part of Nigeria.

According to an online tabloid, Peoples Gazette, official documents and contributions of senior intelligence officials showed that the North had a massive share of the roughly 1,300 Nigerians currently undergoing cadet training at two different camps of the secret police in Lagos and Bauchi.
[img=317x0]http://saharareporters.com/sites/default/files/styles/normal_medium/public/DG-DSS-Yusuf-Magaji-Bichi%20%281%29.jpg?itok=TrOkFfW2[/img]
Of the total 628 cadet trainees, who had resumed at the Bauchi facility as of September 23, 535 identified themselves as trainees joining the service from either the North-East or the North-West.

Only 93 were from either the South-East, South-South, South-West or North-Central, according to recruitment filings sighted by the newspaper.

Findings also showed that at least 71 of those currently undergoing cadet training hailed from Bichi Local Government Area, Kano State, the Director-General’s home local government area.

Officials said the number was more but the newspaper could not independently confirm the higher figures as well as a slew of other disturbing allegations of bigotry against Bichi prior to this publication.

In Lagos, multiple participants including senior officials, said Bichi disregarded the federal character concept and skewed the process for Nigerians from the North.

A top official estimated 708 trainees were at the Lagos training facility as of September 26.

Officials were unsure how many people were taken as cadet trainees in total because some were still arriving three weeks into the six-month exercise.

Senior intelligence officials said even though the sectional disparity mirrors Nigeria’s reality under President Muhammadu Buhari, they are nonetheless worried that the development could potentially tip the ethnic and religious balance of national security in favour of a section of the country for decades.

“Some of us are worried less about the audacity of focusing on one part of the country to bring in new cadets than we are about its long-term implications,” a senior SSS official told the Gazette via a secure video channel last week.

“We know he might find it difficult, but the DG would leave a better legacy if he sees himself first as a Nigerian.”

In July, the Yellow House sent out a memo to all state and FCT commands, informing them that Bichi had ordered a fresh round of recruitment for the agency’s next generation of intelligence officers.

He directed that each state command should conduct a rigorous selection process and forward four successful candidates to the headquarters for possible admission into the service.

All commands were said to have complied with the directive, conducted a thorough selection of four candidates and sent the results to the headquarters.

But shortly after the candidates were cleared and sent to the headquarters before the July 15 deadline contained in the memo, Bichi seized the moment and initiated a recruitment process of his own.

On September 1, Bichi told a few officials at the Yellow House to call people from a prepared list and offer them a role at the SSS.

Those, who were called, were immediately asked to go to the Lagos or Bauchi training school, officials said.

Starting September 8, cadet candidates reported for training in Lagos and Bauchi, in some cases without the awareness of the director of state security in the state they applied from, documents and officials said.
Bichi kept the list of those he had been sending to the training school secret, officials said.

It was unclear how many people he intended to recruit but they kept showing up.
He also kept the process largely to himself, making it difficult for insiders to access his list or the criteria with which he was selecting cadet candidates.

Bichi’s regional recruitment agenda came three years after his predecessor implemented a similar hiring process that failed to reflect Nigeria’s diversity.

A 59-year-old Nigerian woman identified as Maureen is currently in pain after her brother allegedly attacked her over their father's property in Enugu state.

According to IgbereTV reports, the story was shared online by a Humanist group, Women's Aid Collective WACOL, who said that the victim said their late father left the said property in her custody and made her promise to take care of the property and not transfer ownership to Mr Francis Egbujie. The victim however alleged that her brother has over time pestered her over the said property and demanded that she hand it over to him.

The group posted a picture of her battered head and wrote:

BROTHER ATTEMPTS TO KILL ELDER SISTER OVER FAMILY PROPERTY!!! On the 30th day of September 2020, WACOL legal clinic received a complaint from a 59 years old woman Mrs M, that her brother Mr Francis Egbujie from Ifu Ezike Udi, attempted to kill her by beating her with a stick and breaking her head over a family property.

She is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility. She noted that together with her younger sisters they immediately made a report to the Trans Ekulu police station but rather than arrest the perpetrator Mr Francis Egbujie, the police detained her sisters and even threatened to arrest her.

She told WACOL that the property in question was handed over to her by their late father, who made her promise to take care of the property and not transfer ownership to Mr Francis Egbujie.

She also told WACOL that it is the proceed from the property that she uses to take care of their late elder brother's children. Mrs M wants WACOL to assist her in getting justice and ensure that Mr Francis Egbujie faces the full wrath of the law for his devious acts against her.

WACOL has sent a petition to the Honourable Commissioner of Police, Enugu state requesting for a transfer of the case from the Trans Ekulu police station to the state CID for proper investigation.

WACOL will also provide palliative and support her treatment.''

Iran Unveils New Ballistic Missile That Could Destroy US Bases In The Gulf (Pix)

Quote:IRAN has unveiled its latest naval ballistic missile which doubles its military strike range and is capable of destroying US bases in the Gulf.

State-backed Press TV published a video on wednesday showing the third generation Zolfaqar-e Basir rocket.

According to the report, the weapon can travel 434 miles - which more than doubles the country's current missile range.

The US, which has accused Iran of exporting terrorism across the Middle East, has a number of military bases in the region including in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Iraq, Kuwait and the UAE.

And because the Persian Gulf is up to 210 miles wide, the new Iranian rocket could destroy targets from anywhere in the area.

Commander Major General Hossein Salami, head of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, said the weapon was developed despite the crippling economic sanctions imposed by US President Donald Trump.

He said: "The war underway today is one of willpower.

"The Iranian nation continues down this path with conviction by clearly recognising its way forward."

He said Iran was fully prepared for war with the Unites States adding Tehran had used the sanctions as "an opportunity for expeditious advancement in the defensive areas."

The second generation of the surface-to-surface Zolfaqar-e Basir was used to attack US troops at Ain al-Assad air base in Iraq, it has been reported.

That assault was retaliation for the killing of Major General Qassem Soleimani in a drone strike ordered by Trump outside Baghdad airport.

The assassination of Soleimani in January drastically ramped up tensions between the US and Iran and led to Tehran pulling out the Obama-era nuclear deal it had signed with western powers.

Buhari: It Makes No Sense For Oil To Be Cheaper In Nigeria Than Saudi Arabia

Quote:The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), says it makes no sense for Nigeria to sell petroleum products at prices lower than those sold in neighbouring countries.

He made this known on Thursday morning while delivering a speech on the occasion of Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary at Aso Villa, Abuja.

Buhari said, “Petroleum prices in Nigeria are to be adjusted. We sell now at N161 per litre. A comparison with our neighbours will illustrate the point.

“Chad, which is an oil-producing country, charges N362 per litre. Niger, also an oil-producing country, sells oil at N346 per litre. Ghana, another oil-producing country, petroleum pump price is N326 per litre. Further afield, Egypt charges N211 per litre. Saudi Arabia charges N168 per litre.

“It makes no sense for oil to be cheaper in Nigeria than in Saudi Arabia.”

Quote:Against the backdrop of the suspension by the Federal Government of the recent electricity tariff hike, electricity consumers lamented on Wednesday the delay by the distribution companies in reverting to the old rates.

The Federal Government had, in a meeting with the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress held on Sunday night till Monday morning, agreed to suspend the recent tariff hike approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission for two weeks.

The parties agreed to set up a technical committee comprising ministries, departments and agencies of government, NLC and TUC.

It would work for two weeks, effective September 28, to examine the justifications for the new policy ‘in view of the need for the validation of the basis for the new cost-reflective tariff as a result of the conflicting information from the fields which appeared different from the data presented to justify the new policy by NERC; metering deployment, challenges, timeline for massive rollout’.

NERC disclosed on Tuesday that it had issued an order to the Discos suspending the recent review in tariffs for 14 days, effective September 28, in line with the Federal Government’s agreement with labour unions.

It said during the suspension, all tariffs shall be computed on the rates applicable as of August 31.

But a number of consumers, who commented on NERC’s announcement of the tariff hike suspension, complained that they still bought electricity at the old tariffs on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A Twitter user, Eleojo Emmanuel, said, “Hi @IkejaElectric, I bought units at 9am today (Sept. 30, 2020). I paid N5,000 and got 94.4 units. When do I get the balance of my units per this @NERCNG order?”

Another Twitter user, Prince Sola Olaniyi, said, “For a test on the update, I recharged N500 this morning, but I get hiked tariff.”

A copy of the receipt he posted showed that he got 7.46 kilowatts per hour, translating to N67 per KWh, from Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company.

Another consumer, Oyinkro Omukoro, said he bought electricity units worth N10,000 from Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company on Tuesday but got 169.80 units as against the over 320 units he would have got if the tariff hike was reversed.

Another Twitter user, with the handle @vller, in a message to Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, said, “Hello, AEDC, I bought power this morning 30/09/20 via @buypowerng but noticed that the unit received was half what I should get considering @NERCNG had already put a halt in tariff hike as at 29/09/20.

“Kindly give to me the exact unit that I should get based on the previous tariff.”

In its reply, Abuja Disco said it had received directives for a two-week suspension of the service reflective tariff from NERC.

It said, “This order will apply to tariff rates for electricity purchased from September 28 to October 11. However, our team is still working to adjust the rates accordingly.

“Customers who have vended on or after the said date, should please send in their details via direct message and we will escalate to the appropriate unit for resolution as soon as possible.”

Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, in a notice posted on its Twitter page on Wednesday, said it had fully complied with NERC’s directive on tariff hike suspension.

“Prepaid customers who purchase electricity tokens from today will therefore see the value of the old tariff reflected in their tokens while post-paid customers will also see the old tariff reflected on their next bill,” its Head, Corporate Communication, Mr Abdulazeez Abdullahi, said.

The President, Electricity Consumers Association of Nigeria, Chijioke James, in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Wednesday, described the tariff hike as ill-timed.

He said, “The Discos have no option than to comply with the directive of the regulator. The two-week suspension is neither here nor there.

“The timing for the increase is not right at all. So, we are just asking that the status quo ante be maintained until a couple of issues are resolved and extensive consultation made with the consumers and all critical stakeholders.”

The Discos had early in September announced what they called ‘new service reflective tariff’, which took effect from September 1, with the tariffs being charged residential consumers receiving a minimum of 12 hours of power supply rising by over 70 per cent.

Kris Jenner is being sued for sexual harassment by her ex-bodyguard

Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, Kris Jenne is being sued by a former bodyguard on allegations of sexual harassment.

Marc McWilliams, the 64-year-old reality star’s ex-protection officer, claims in documents obtained by Us Weekly that he was “subject to a pattern of unwanted and unwelcome sexual advances” while working for Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian. McWilliams said he was hired to work for the Kardashian family starting in May 2017, and claims the inappropriate behavior began that same month.

According to the documents, the momager made comments “of an overt sexual nature” toward McWilliams, allegedly remarking on his physical appearance, asking about his sex life, and suggesting they “engage in a romantic and sexual relationship.”

McWilliams (pictured above), claims Jenner demonstrated “non-consensual physical contact,” despite his “repeatedly” complaining to his employer, David Shield Security. He also claims to have witnessed Jenner making “lewd suggestive, sexual, sexist, racist, homophobic and otherwise discriminatory comments at him and his co-workers.”

He alleges that he was also suspended from working with Kris Jenner in September 2018, but continued to provide security for Jenner’s daughter, Kourtney Kardashian.

Furthermore, he claims that he was discriminated against based on race, including “mockery, harassment, belittling, and otherwise humiliating mistreatment" before he was eventually “terminated” from Jenner’s protection team.

The lawsuit states that the man experienced “severe and permanent pain and suffering,” as well as a “severe shock and injury to the nervous system.”

Marty Singer, lawyer for the Kardashians, responded to the lawsuit in a statement, denying the accusations and revealing that Kris Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian intend to sue the man.

The statement says: "Kris Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian vehemently deny the absurd claims as completely fabricated and false fiction without a scrap of truth to them. Kris categorically denies ever behaving inappropriately toward Marc McWilliams. The security guard worked outside the house and he never even went into Kris’s house.

"Furthermore, Kris had very little interaction with him. After the guard was repeatedly caught sleeping in his car while on the job, the security company was asked not to assign him to work there in the future."

"Significantly, the guard never made any complaints to his employer about Kris until contriving this ludicrous claim. Although Kourtney is named in the suit, she is not accused of doing anything improper with the guard, nor did she do so.

"It is outrageous that anyone can sue anyone in America and believe there is no recourse when pursuing fictional and meritless claims. When Kris and Kourtney defeat this ridiculous, frivolous lawsuit they intend to immediately sue McWilliams and his attorneys for malicious prosecution."

Nick Spencer Committed Suicide By Hanging At His $2.5 Million Mansion

Quote:Newlywed BP vice president, 61, hanged himself at his £2million home a week after being made redundant, inquest hears

-Sitting at Beaconsfield, a Buckinghamshire coroner recorded verdict of suicide

The vice president of British Petroleum hanged himself at his £2million home a week after he was made redundant, a coroner heard today.

Newly-married Nick Spencer, 61, was found dead at his luxury home where he lived with his wife Eve in Buckinghamshire in April.

His inquest heard he spent a decade working for the oil giant BP when he was forced to leave the firm on March 31 this year.

After he was told of the redundancy the successful father-of-two became depressed and worried about managing his finances, Eve told the coroner.

In a statement she said: 'Since he was made redundant he had been depressed.

'He had been looking for a new job and I felt he seemed positive but there was an oil crisis because of Covid-19 and he was worried about remortgaging the house and the finances.

'In the period leading up to his death, he seemed a bit more down and it was the 12th anniversary of a family bereavement.

'On the evening before his death, we watched the news and went to bed. We talked about TV and he came to bed at 2am which was unusually late.

'At 6.40am on April 7 he got up. He was normally an early riser and I went back to sleep. I later went into the study and saw the letters he had written. I opened the one addressed to me and called the police, I was very worried.'

The first police officer to arrive at the home in Beaconsfield, Bucks., discovered Mr Spencer hanged in the house's garage. Eve identified the body as her husband at 10.30am.

Pathologist Dr Steven Corrigan confirmed the cause of death as hanging.

After graduating from Harvard Business School in 1999, Mr Spencer became a general manager at European Refining, directing three refineries across Europe.

He went on to work at ConocoPhillips for the next seven years, tasked with establishing the business in the MENA region.

In October 2009, he joined British Petroleum (BP) as a business unit leader working for the next five years at the largest refinery in the US.

Following his huge success, he was selected as Vice President of Global Refining in November 2014 where he led 7,500 employees with a gross margin of $6 billion.

He stayed in this position until he was made redundant in March this year.

In a report to the inquest a psychiatrist confirmed seeing Mr Spencer on January 18 where he referenced his employment coming to an end, stated he had had suicidal thoughts for a while and even had a specific plan in mind.

Invite Chadian army to join the fight against Boko Haram — Governor Zulum begs Buhari

Governor Babagana Zulum has asked the federal government to invite the Chadian army to help in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency.

The Borno state Governor who was attacked twice by the terrorists in the last few days, made the call while hosting some governors in Maiduguri, the state capital on Wednesday September 30.

While insisting that he is not trying to undermine the effort of Nigerian soldiers, Zulum further stated that no single army anywhere in the world has ever succeeded in quelling insurgency.

The statement released by Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, spokesman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) read;

Quote:“Zulum pleaded with the federal government to ensure that Chadian soldiers are invited to join the Nigeria Army in the fight against insurgency if any meaningful success is to be recorded on the battleground.

“Zulum rationalised that no single army anywhere in the world has ever succeeded in quelling insurgency and requested that the government looked into ways of complementing the efforts of the Nigeria Army with the Chadian soldiers, emphasising it is not to undermine the Nigerian soldiers but to help them in finishing the job within a realistic deadline.

“The situation in our State has become very dire because, everything calls for endurance, commitment and dedication if our people were to be drawn out of the woods.

“Chad Basin used to employ about 10 million people while the Sambisa Grazing Reserve and the Mandara Mountains used to employ about 3 million people but the insurgents have made these places inaccessible to the people.”

Chairman of the NGF, Governor Kayode Fayemi who condoled with residents of the state over the recent attack, also announced a donation of N100million to the state government.

The statement added;

Quote:“Dr Fayemi admonished Prof Zulum to exercise caution in his activities in the state, even though he narrated how the Borno Governor always responded by saying that his life was in the hands of Allah and that death will only come when Allah wills.

“The NGF Chairman announced a donation of one hundred million Naira to the Government and people of Borno State from the NGF before handing the cheque over to the Borno governor.”

Full Text Of President Buhari's Independence Day Speech

Muhammadu Buhari @MBuhari

Quote:Fellow Nigerians,

I speak to you today as your President and fellow citizen on this epoch occasion of our country’s 60th independence Anniversary.

As President, I wish to renew my appreciation to Nigerians for entrusting me with your hopes and aspirations for a better and greater Nigeria.

Today, it is my unique privilege to re-commit myself to the service of this great country of great people with profound diversities and opportunities. We are bound by destiny to be the largest and greatest black nation on earth.

At this stage in our nationhood it is important that we reflect how we got here to enable us work TOGETHER to get to where we aspire to be as a strong indivisible nation, united in hope and equal in opportunity.

On October 1st 1960 when Prime Minister Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa received the constitutional instruments symbolizing Nigeria’s independence, he expressed his wish that ...

... having acquired our rightful status as an independent sovereign nation, history would record that the building of our nation proceeded at the wisest pace.

This optimism was anchored on the peaceful planning, full and open consultation and harmonious cooperation with the different groups which culminated in Nigeria emerging as a country without bitterness and bloodshed.

Our founding fathers understood the imperative of structuring a National identity using the power of the state and worked towards unification of Nigerians in a politically stable and viable entity.

That philosophy guided the foundation that was laid for our young nation of 45 million people with an urban population of approximately 7million occupying an area of 910,768 square km. These demographics led to development challenges for which major efforts were made to overcome.

Today, we grapple with multiple challenges with a population exceeding 200million occupying the same land mass but 52% residing in urban areas.

Sixty years of nationhood provides an opportunity to ask ourselves questions on the extent to which we have sustained the aspirations of our founding fathers. Where did we do the right things? Are we on course? If not where did we stray and how can we remedy and retrace our steps?

Upon attaining independence, Nigeria’s growth trajectory was anchored on policies and programmes that positively impacted on all sectors of the economy. However, this journey was cut short by the 30-months of civil war.

We came out of the civil war with a focus on reconstruction, rehabilitation and reconciliation that enabled the country to put in place world class development structures and a strengthened public service that well served the government.

This positive trajectory continued with a return to democratic government which was truncated by another round of military rule.

For a cumulative 29 of our 60 years existence as a nation, we have been under military rule. My summary of our journey so far as a nation is necessary to appropriately chart where we need to go and how to get there TOGETHER.

Today, I am aware that our economy along with every single economy in the world is in crisis. We still face security challenges in parts of the country, while our society suffers from a high loss of moral rectitude which is driven by unbridled craving for political control.

An underlying cause of most of the problems we have faced as a nation is our consistent harping on artificially contrived fault-lines that we have harboured and allowed unnecessarily to fester.

In addition, institutions such as civil service, police, the judiciary, the military all suffered from a general decline.

We need to begin a sincere process of national healing and this anniversary presents a genuine opportunity to eliminate old and outworn perceptions that are always put to test in the lie they always are.

The stereotype of thinking of ourselves as coming from one part of the country before seeing ourselves as Nigerians is a key starting point to project us on the road to our deserved nation’s evolution and integration.

To start this healing process, we are already blessed with the most important asset any nation requires for such – OUR PEOPLE – and this has manifested globally in the exploits of Nigerians in many fields.

It has been demonstrated time and time again that Nigerians in the diaspora frequently excel in science, technology, medicine, sports, arts and many other fields.

Similarly, the creativity, ingenuity and resourcefulness of the Nigerian at home has resulted in globally recognized endeavours.

I am convinced that if we pursue our aspirations TOGETHER we would be able to achieve whatever we desire. That informed our adopting the theme TOGETHER to mark this epochal event.

Together we can change our condition for the better and more importantly together we can do much more for ourselves and for our country.

I chose the path of self-reflection because this is what I do on a daily basis and I must confess that at most times, I always felt the need for a collective reflection as I know that the foundation for a solid future which this administration is laying...

Daily Devotional for Thursday 1st October

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY 1ST OCTOBER.

PREACH IT BOLDLY

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me… (Acts 1:8).

Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and no one comes to the Father, but by Him. Be convinced and compelled by this truth, and preach it boldly. Don’t be afraid of being persecuted for proclaiming His Name.

2 Timothy 3:12 says, “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (NIV). The early apostles were beaten and threatened never to proclaim the Name of Jesus. But rather than give in to the faithless religious and government authorities, they preached Christ even more boldly and filled the whole of Jerusalem with their doctrine (Acts 5:28).

There’re antichrist spirits in the world today, working against the preaching of the Gospel, but they’re not a factor, because we’ve already overcome them. 1 John 4:4 says, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."

Emulate Paul’s resolve; nothing could daunt his love for Christ and passion for the Gospel. In Acts 20:22-24, he said, “And now, you see, I am going to Jerusalem, bound by the [Holy] Spirit and obligated and compelled by the [convictions of my own] spirit, not knowing what will befall me there—Except that the Holy Spirit clearly and emphatically affirms to me in city after city that imprisonment and suffering await me.

But none of these things move me; neither do I esteem my life dear to myself, if only I may finish my course with joy and the ministry which I have obtained from [which was entrusted to me by] the Lord Jesus, faithfully to attest to the good news (Gospel) of God’s grace (His unmerited favor, spiritual blessing, and mercy)” (AMPC).

Have the same conviction! This glorious Gospel which has been committed to your trust is worth everything. Preach it boldly everywhere.

PRAYER

Precious Father, I thank you for your Word in my heart is as a burning fire shut up in my bones. I fulfil my calling as a bearer of divine truths to my world, standing firm in the faith, and undeterred to spread your righteousness around the world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#TALKINGSESSION

KINDLY SAY THESE WORDS OUT LOUD.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for granting me insight into Your workings in our day, and for making me relevant and effective in establishing

Your perfect will in the earth. Necessity is laid upon me to preach the Gospel; it’s all that I live for!

Thank You for Your grace and power at work in me as I reach out to the unsaved with the Gospel,
delivering them from darkness into light, and from the power of darkness unto God.

I am in charge; therefore, I refuse to accommodate unwholesome, unhealthy, and noxious thoughts or let the news of fear, poverty, economic meltdown, diseases, or death run my life or determine the circumstances of my existence.

My mind is guarded by the Word and completely yielded to the right ideas, thoughts, materials, and messages.

I am built up, edified, and strengthened in and by the Word. Thank You for Your grace in my life, and the ability to show care, and be diligent in all my duties and responsibilities.

I am full of wisdom, and continually receive thoughts and ideas from the Spirit that put me over, and give me the advantage always.

I am made for life and set up for honour. I live above the economy and the systems of this world because the greater One lives in me!

I am not subject to the elements of the world, and my life is a testimony of Your greatness. Divine might is at work in me, and my victory in Christ is fully assured, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Hallelujah!

God bless you

'Sector commander' of notorious kidnap syndicate confesses to killing over 50 victims because they could not pay ransom

One of the leaders of a notorious kidnap gang, who was on police wanted list has admitted killing over 50 of his victims because they could not afford to pay ransom.

The suspect, Mohammed Sani, 30, made the shocking revelation on Wednesday, September 30, when he was paraded by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, alongside 46 other criminals at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Headquarters in Abuja.

Wearing a fake military uniform, Sani said he worked for one Yellow Jambros, who gave him guns and military uniforms for operations, adding that he carried out his operations mainly within Kaduna, Katsina, Niger and Zamfara.

The suspect said he was a sector commander in their kidnapping ring and had over 120 men under his command.

Sani, who said he has lost count of how many kidnap operations he carried out, said any of their victims that paid ransom were allowed to go but those that could not were killed.

Briefing news, DCP Mba said that Sani was nabbed by men of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) and has been on their wanted list for a while.

“His area of specialty is kidnapping for ransom and banditry. Occasionally he veers into cattle rustling. He belongs to an organised kidnapping gang that has gone ahead to sectorise their operations," Mba said.

"Mohammed Sani is a sector commander within the larger kidnapping and banditry enterprise. He has over 100 men directly under his command. Sani reports to another big kidnapper that is on our wanted list known as Yellow Jambros,” Mba added.

A Borno State High Court sitting in Maiduguri has convicted and sentenced Allen Abel ove to a cumulative term of 125 years in prison for allegedly fraudulently obtaining food items valued at N12, 879,800.00 (Twelve Million Eight Hundred and Seventy Nine Thousand Eight Hundred Naira) on the pretext of executing a fake contract for Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development (FMHDSD)’s School Feeding scheme under the Social Intervention Programme (SIP) of the Federal Government.

Abel was arraigned before Justice Aisha Kumaliya on Thursday, July 2, 2020 alongside Suleiman Adamu, Usman Adamu and Kingsley Madubuagu by the Maiduguri zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on 20-count charge that borders on forgery, possession of false documents, impersonation and obtaining by false pretence.

According to a statement released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, count three of the charge reads

Quote:“That you, Allen Abel, Suleiman Adamu and Usman Adamu sometimes between February and March, 2020 at Maiduguri, Borno State, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court with intent to defraud, obtained 1313 (One Thousand Three Hundred and Thirteen) cartons of spaghetti and 480 (Four Hundred Eighty) bags of rice both worth N12, 110,000.00 (Twelve Million One Hundred Ten Thousand Naira) only from one Lelle Hyelwa Sini of Lelle Foresight Construction Co. Quote:IgbereTV reports that an Ekiti State High court sitting in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, September 29, sentenced 29-year-old Gbenga Aluko, to death by hanging for involving in cultism and killings of three residents in the state.

Delivering his judgment, Justice Abiodun Adesodun said the prosecutor was able to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt against the accused.

"The penalty for the offence committed and established against the accused is death, he is hereby sentenced to death by hanging. May the Lord have mercy on your soul.”

According to the charge against the accused, he was found to be a member of a prohibited secret society of Eiye Fraternity, contrary to section 4 of the Secret Cult (Abolition and Prohibition) First Amendment Law No.6, Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2017.

In his confessional statement, Gbenga said he and his cult members in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital masterminded the killings of some people who were believed to be cult members.

To proof his case, the prosecutor, Julius Ajibare called two witnesses but tendered no exhibit while the accused called no witness but spoke through his counsel Femi Adetoye.

Gbenga and three others members of Eiye Fraternity, Ayodele Ayodeji, 31, Olamide Olurunsola, 43 and Adewale Adekunle 23, all from Ifaki Ekiti, were arrested in February 2019, by Special Anti-Robbery Squad, for alleged involvement in the killings of members of ‘AIYE’ Confraternity, a rival secret cult group, in Ekiti and Ondo states.

Gbenga and the other three suspects were paraded by the then Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Asuquo Amba in Ado Ekiti. Items recovered from them include one cutlass, charms, one Dell laptop, a foreign woman’s photograph, two Ipad phones and one Infinix phone.
